   Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

   רוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבֶּר־בִּיdib/BER-bispoke by meוּמִלָּתוֹu/mil/la/TOand His wordעַל־לְשׁוֹנִי׃al-le/sho/NIupon my tongue

   The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

   אָמַרa/MARsaidאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלִיlito meדִבֶּרdib/BERspokeצוּרTsurthe Rock ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמוֹשֵׁלmo/SHELone who rulesבָּאָדָםba/a/DAMover menצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousמוֹשֵׁלmo/SHELrulingיִרְאַתyir/ATin the fear ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

   וּכְאוֹרu/khe/ORand as the light ofבֹּקֶרBO/kermorningיִזְרַח־שָׁמֶשׁyiz/RACH-SHA/meshwhen the sun risesבֹּקֶרBO/kermorningלֹאlowithoutעָבוֹתa/VOTcloudsמִנֹּגַהּmin/NO/gafrom the brightnessמִמָּטָרmim/ma/TARfrom rainדֶּשֶׁאDE/shethe grassמֵאָרֶץ׃me/A/retsfrom the earth

   And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

   כִּי־לֹא־כֵןki-lo-khenbut is not soבֵּיתִיbe/TImy houseעִם־אֵלim-elwith Godכִּיkiforבְרִיתve/RITa covenant ofעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingשָׂםsamHe has madeלִיliwith meעֲרוּכָהa/ru/KHAorderedבַכֹּלvak/KOLin all thingsוּשְׁמֻרָהu/she/mu/RAand sureכִּי־כׇל־יִשְׁעִיki-khol-yish/Ifor all my salvationוְכׇל־חֵפֶץve/KHOL-CHE/fetsand all delightכִּי־לֹאki-lowill He notיַצְמִיחַ׃yats/MI/achmake it grow

   Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

   But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

   וְאִישׁve/ISHbut the manיִגַּעyig/GAwho touchesבָּהֶםba/HEMthemיִמָּלֵאyim/MA/leis filledבַרְזֶלvar/ZELwith ironוְעֵץve/ETSand the staff ofחֲנִיתcha/NITa spearוּבָאֵשׁu/va/ESHand with fireשָׂרוֹףsa/ROFburnיִשָּׂרְפוּyis/sa/re/FUthey shall be burnedבַּשָּׁבֶת׃bash/SHA/vetin the place

   But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

   These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

   And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

    He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

    וְאַחֲרָיוve/a/cha/RAYVand after himשַׁמָּהSham/MAShammahבֶן־אָגֵאven-A/GEthe son of Ageeהָרָרִיha/Ra/RIthe Harariteוַיֵּאָסְפוּvay/ye/a/se/FUand were gatheredפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesלַחַיָּהla/chay/YAinto a troopוַתְּהִי־שָׁםvat/te/HI-shamand there was thereחֶלְקַתchel/KATa plot ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldמְלֵאָהme/le/Afull ofעֲדָשִׁיםa/da/SHIMlentilsוְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleנָסnasfledמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfrom beforeפְלִשְׁתִּים׃Fe/lish/TIMthe Philistines

    And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

    וַיִּתְיַצֵּבvay/yit/yats/TSEVbut he stoodבְּתוֹךְ־הַחֶלְקָהbe/TOKH-ha/chel/KAin the midst of the plotוַיַּצִּילֶהָvay/yats/tsi/LE/haand rescued itוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםet-Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand workedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDתְּשׁוּעָהte/shu/Aa victoryגְדוֹלָה׃ge/do/LAgreat

    But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

13. 13

    וַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUand went down(שלשים)shalashayam[שְׁלֹשָׁה]she/lo/SHAthreeמֵהַשְּׁלֹשִׁיםme/hash/she/lo/SHIMof the thirtyרֹאשׁroshchiefוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־קָצִירel-ka/TSIRat harvestאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidאֶל־מְעָרַתel-me/a/RATto the cave ofעֲדֻלָּםA/dul/LAMAdullamוְחַיַּתve/chay/YATand the band ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesחֹנָהcho/NAwas encampedבְּעֵמֶקbe/E/mekin the valley ofרְפָאִים׃Re/fa/IMRephaim

    And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

    וְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidאָזazthenבַּמְּצוּדָהbam/me/tsu/DAin the strongholdוּמַצַּבu/mats/TSAVand the garrison ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe PhilistinesאָזazthenבֵּיתBetin Beth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

    And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

15. 15

    וַיִּתְאַוֶּהvay/yit/av/VEand longedדָוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמִיmiwhoיַשְׁקֵנִיyash/KE/niwould give me drinkמַיִםMA/yimwaterמִבֹּארmib/BORfrom the well ofבֵּית־לֶחֶםBet-LE/chemBeth-lehemאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבַּשָּׁעַר׃bash/SHA/arby the gate

    And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

16. 16

    וַיִּבְקְעוּvay/yiv/ke/Uand broke throughשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthe threeהַגִּבֹּרִיםhag/gib/bo/RIMmighty menבְּמַחֲנֵהbe/ma/cha/NEthe camp ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיִּשְׁאֲבוּ־מַיִםvay/yish/a/VU-MA/yimand drew waterמִבֹּארmib/BORfrom the well ofבֵּית־לֶחֶםBet-LE/chemBeth-lehemאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבַּשַּׁעַרbash/SHA/arby the gateוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand carried itוַיָּבִאוּvay/ya/VI/uand brought itאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidוְלֹאve/LObut notאָבָהa/VAhe was willingלִשְׁתּוֹתָםlish/to/TAMto drink themוַיַּסֵּךְvay/yas/SEKHand poured outאֹתָםo/TAMthemלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחָלִילָהcha/LI/lafar be itלִּיlito meיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDמֵעֲשֹׂתִיme/a/SO/tifrom my doingזֹאתzotthisהֲדַםha/DAMis it the blood ofהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהַהֹלְכִיםha/hol/KHIMwho wentבְּנַפְשׁוֹתָםbe/naf/sho/TAMwith their livesוְלֹאve/LOand notאָבָהa/VAhe was willingלִשְׁתּוֹתָםlish/to/TAMto drink themאֵלֶּהEL/letheseעָשׂוּa/SUdidשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthe threeהַגִּבֹּרִים׃hag/gib/bo/RIMmighty men

    And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

    וַאֲבִישַׁיva/A/vi/SHAYand Abishaiאֲחִיa/CHIthe brother ofיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabבֶּן־צְרוּיָהben-Tse/ru/YAthe son of Zeruiahהוּאhuheרֹאשׁroshwas chief of(השלשי)hashalashay[הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה]hash/she/lo/SHAthe threeוְהוּאve/HUand heעוֹרֵרo/RERraisedאֶת־חֲנִיתוֹet-cha/ni/TOhis spearעַל־שְׁלֹשׁal-she/LOSHagainst threeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredחָלָלcha/LALslainוְלוֹ־שֵׁםve/LO-shemand he had a nameבַּשְּׁלֹשָׁה׃bash/she/lo/SHAamong the three

    And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

    מִן־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁהmin-hash/she/lo/SHAthan the threeהֲכִיha/KHIwas he notנִכְבָּדnikh/BADhonoredוַיְהִיvay/HIand he becameלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְשָׂרle/SARa commanderוְעַד־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁהve/AD-hash/she/lo/SHAbut to the threeלֹא־בָא׃lo-vahe did not come

    Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

    וּבְנָיָהוּu/ve/Na/YA/huand Benaiahבֶן־יְהוֹיָדָעven-Ye/ho/ya/DAthe son of Jehoiadaבֶּן־אִישׁ־[חַיִל]ben-ish-CHA/yilthe son of a valiant man(חי)chayרַב־פְּעָלִיםrav-pe/a/LIMgreat of deedsמִקַּבְצְאֵלmik/Kav/tse/ELfrom Kabzeelהוּאhuheהִכָּהhik/KAstruckאֵת־שְׁנֵיet-she/NEthe two ofאֲרִאֵלA/ri/ELAriel ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabוְהוּאve/HUand heיָרַדya/RADwent downוְהִכָּהve/hik/KAand struckאֶת־[הָאֲרִי]et-ha/a/RIthe lion(האריה)hrayahבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַבֹּארhab/BORthe pitבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the day ofהַשָּׁלֶג׃hash/SHA/legthe snow

    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

    וְהוּא־הִכָּהve/HU-hik/KAand he struckאֶת־אִישׁet-isha manמִצְרִיMits/RIan Egyptian(אשר)shar[אִישׁ]isha man ofמַרְאֶהmar/Eappearanceוּבְיַדu/ve/YADand in the hand ofהַמִּצְרִיham/Mits/RIthe Egyptianחֲנִיתcha/NITa spearוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּשָּׁבֶטbash/SHA/vetwith a staffוַיִּגְזֹלvay/yig/ZOLand snatchedאֶת־הַחֲנִיתet-ha/cha/NITthe spearמִיַּדmiy/YADout of the hand ofהַמִּצְרִיham/Mits/RIthe Egyptianוַיַּהַרְגֵהוּvay/ya/har/GE/huand killed himבַּחֲנִיתוֹ׃ba/cha/ni/TOwith his spear

    And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

    These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

    מִן־הַשְּׁלֹשִׁיםmin-hash/she/lo/SHIMthan the thirtyנִכְבָּדnikh/BADhe was honoredוְאֶל־הַשְּׁלֹשָׁהve/EL-hash/she/lo/SHAbut to the threeלֹא־בָאlo-vahe did not comeוַיְשִׂמֵהוּvay/si/ME/huand set himדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶל־מִשְׁמַעְתּוֹ׃el-mish/ma/TOover his guard

    He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
