   And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

   And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְאַיֵּהve/ay/YEand where isבֶּן־אֲדֹנֶיךָben-a/do/NE/khathe son of your masterוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidצִיבָאTsi/VAZibaאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVhe is stayingבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemכִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARhe saidהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayיָשִׁיבוּya/SHI/vuwill restoreלִיlito meבֵּיתbetthe house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֵת־מַמְלְכוּתet-mam/le/KHUTthe kingdom ofאָבִי׃a/VImy father

   And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלְצִבָאle/Tsi/VAto Zibaהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלְךָle/KHAto youכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלִמְפִיבֹשֶׁתLim/fi/VO/shetis Mephibosheth’sוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidצִיבָאTsi/VAZibaהִשְׁתַּחֲוֵיתִיhish/ta/cha/VE/tiI bow downאֶמְצָא־חֵןem/TSA-chenlet me find favorבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

   Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

   וּבָאu/VAand cameהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַד־בַּחוּרִיםad-Ba/chu/RIMto Bahurimוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאִישׁisha manיוֹצֵאyo/TSEcoming outמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתmim/mish/PA/chatof the family ofבֵּית־שָׁאוּלbet-Sha/ULthe house of Saulוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameשִׁמְעִיShim/IShimeiבֶן־גֵּרָאven-Ge/RAthe son of Geraיֹצֵאyo/TSEcame outיָצוֹאya/TSOgoing outוּמְקַלֵּל׃u/me/kal/LELand cursing

   And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

   וַיְסַקֵּלvay/sak/KELand he stonedבָּאֲבָנִיםba/a/va/NIMwith stonesאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidוְאֶת־כׇּל־עַבְדֵיve/ET-kol-av/DEand all the servants ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleוְכׇל־הַגִּבֹּרִיםve/KHOL-hag/gib/bo/RIMand all the mighty menמִימִינוֹmi/mi/NOon his right handוּמִשְּׂמֹאלוֹ׃u/mis/se/mo/LOand on his left

   And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

   וְכֹה־אָמַרve/KHO-a/MARand thus saidשִׁמְעִיShim/IShimeiבְּקַלְלוֹbe/kal/LOwhen he cursedצֵאtsecome outצֵאtsecome outאִישׁishyou man ofהַדָּמִיםhad/da/MIMthe bloodוְאִישׁve/ISHand you man ofהַבְּלִיָּעַל׃hab/be/liy/YA/alworthlessness

   And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

   הֵשִׁיבhe/SHIVhas brought backעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכֹּלkolallדְּמֵיde/MEthe blood ofבֵית־שָׁאוּלvet-Sha/ULthe house of Saulאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמָלַכְתָּma/LAKH/tayou have reignedתַּחְתָּוtach/TAVin his placeוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand has givenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־הַמְּלוּכָהet-ham/me/lu/KHAthe kingdomבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomבְּנֶךָbe/NE/khayour sonוְהִנְּךָve/hin/ne/KHAand behold youבְּרָעָתֶךָbe/ra/a/TE/khain your evilכִּיkibecauseאִישׁisha man ofדָּמִיםda/MIMbloodאָתָּה׃AT/tayou are

   The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲבִישַׁיA/vi/SHAYAbishaiבֶּן־צְרוּיָהben-Tse/ru/YAthe son of Zeruiahאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingלָמָּהLAM/mawhyיְקַלֵּלye/kal/LELshould curseהַכֶּלֶבhak/KE/levthe dogהַמֵּתham/METthe deadהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֶת־אֲדֹנִיet-a/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶעְבְּרָה־נָּאe/be/RA-nalet me cross over I prayוְאָסִירָהve/a/SI/raand take offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹ׃et-ro/SHOhis head

   Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמַה־לִּיma-liwhat is to meוְלָכֶםve/la/KHEMand to youבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofצְרֻיָהTse/ru/YAZeruiah(כי)khay[כֹּה]kosoיְקַלֵּלye/kal/LELlet him curse(וכי)vakhay[כִּי]kiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאָמַרa/MARsaidלוֹloto himקַלֵּלkal/LELcurseאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidוּמִיu/MIwhoיֹאמַרyo/MARshall sayמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyעָשִׂיתָהa/SI/tahave you doneכֵּן׃kenso

    And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶל־אֲבִישַׁיel-A/vi/SHAYto Abishaiוְאֶל־כׇּל־עֲבָדָיוve/EL-kol-a/va/DAYVand to all his servantsהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבְנִיve/NImy sonאֲשֶׁר־יָצָאa/SHER-ya/TSAwho came outמִמֵּעַיmim/me/AYof my bodyמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHseeksאֶת־נַפְשִׁיet-naf/SHImy lifeוְאַףve/AFand how much moreכִּי־עַתָּהki-at/TAwhen nowבֶּן־הַיְמִינִיben-Hay/mi/NIthe Benjamiteהַנִּחוּhan/NI/chuleave aloneלוֹlohimוִיקַלֵּלvi/kal/LELand let him curseכִּיkiforאָמַר־לוֹa/MAR-lohas told himיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

    אוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיִרְאֶהyir/Ewill lookיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORD(בעוני)vvanay[בְּעֵינִי]be/e/NIon my eyeוְהֵשִׁיבve/he/SHIVand will repayיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִיlito meטוֹבָהto/VAgoodתַּחַתTA/chatin place ofקִלְלָתוֹkil/la/TOhis cursingהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַאֲנָשָׁיוva/a/na/SHAYVand his menבַּדָּרֶךְbad/DA/rekhby the wayוְשִׁמְעִיve/Shim/Iand Shimeiהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoingבְּצֵלַעbe/TSE/laon the side ofהָהָרha/HARthe mountainלְעֻמָּתוֹle/um/ma/TOopposite himהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוַיְקַלֵּלvay/kal/LELand cursedוַיְסַקֵּלvay/sak/KELand stonedבָּאֲבָנִיםba/a/va/NIMwith stonesלְעֻמָּתוֹle/um/ma/TOopposite himוְעִפַּרve/ip/PARand threwבֶּעָפָר׃be/a/FARdust

    And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleאֲשֶׁר־אִתּוֹa/SHER-it/TOwho were with himעֲיֵפִיםa/ye/FIMwearyוַיִּנָּפֵשׁvay/yin/na/FESHand he refreshed himselfשָׁם׃shamthere

    And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

15. 15

    וְאַבְשָׁלוֹםve/Av/sha/LOMand Absalomוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleאִישׁishthe men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבָּאוּBA/ucameיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוַאֲחִיתֹפֶלva/A/chi/TO/feland Ahithophelאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16. 16

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁר־בָּאka/a/SHER-bawhen cameחוּשַׁיChu/SHAYHushaiהָאַרְכִּיha/Ar/KIthe Architeרֵעֶהre/Ethe friend ofדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶל־אַבְשָׁלוֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחוּשַׁיChu/SHAYHushaiאֶל־אַבְשָׁלוֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomיְחִיye/CHIlong liveהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingיְחִיye/CHIlong liveהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־חוּשַׁיel-Chu/SHAYto Hushaiזֶהzeis thisחַסְדְּךָchas/de/KHAyour kindnessאֶת־רֵעֶךָet-re/E/khawith your friendלָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹא־הָלַכְתָּlo-ha/LAKH/tadid you not goאֶת־רֵעֶךָ׃et-re/E/khawith your friend

    And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחוּשַׁיChu/SHAYHushaiאֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomלֹאlonoכִּיkibutאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomבָּחַרba/CHARhas chosenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְכׇל־אִישׁve/KHOL-ishand all the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsrael(לא)l[לוֹ]lohisאֶהְיֶהeh/YEI will beוְאִתּוֹve/it/TOand with himאֵשֵׁב׃e/SHEVI will stay

    And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

19. 19

    וְהַשֵּׁנִיתve/hash/she/NITand againלְמִיle/MIwhomאֲנִיa/NIIאֶעֱבֹדe/e/VODshould I serveהֲלוֹאha/LOis it notלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeבְנוֹve/NOhis sonכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָבַדְתִּיa/VAD/tiI have servedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherכֵּןkensoאֶהְיֶהeh/YEwill I beלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore you

    And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־אֲחִיתֹפֶלel-A/chi/TO/felto Ahithophelהָבוּha/VUgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesעֵצָהe/TSAcounselמַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה׃ma-na/a/SEwhat shall we do

    Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲחִיתֹפֶלA/chi/TO/felAhithophelאֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomבּוֹאbogo inאֶל־פִּלַגְשֵׁיel-pi/lag/SHEto the concubines ofאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהִנִּיחַhin/NI/achhe leftלִשְׁמוֹרlish/MORto keepהַבָּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseוְשָׁמַעve/sha/MAand will hearכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלkol-Yis/ra/ELall Israelכִּי־נִבְאַשְׁתָּki-niv/ASH/tathat you have become odiousאֶת־אָבִיךָet-a/VI/khawith your fatherוְחָזְקוּve/cha/ze/KUand will be strengthenedיְדֵיye/DEthe hands ofכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall whoאִתָּךְ׃it/TAKHare with you

    And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.

    וַיַּטּוּvay/yat/TUand they pitchedלְאַבְשָׁלוֹםle/Av/sha/LOMfor Absalomהָאֹהֶלha/O/helthe tentעַל־הַגָּגal-hag/GAGon the roofוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand went inאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־פִּלַגְשֵׁיel-pi/lag/SHEto the concubines ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEin the sight ofכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃kol-Yis/ra/ELall Israel

    So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23. 23

    וַעֲצַתva/a/TSATand the counsel ofאֲחִיתֹפֶלA/chi/TO/felAhithophelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָעַץya/ATShe counseledבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיִשְׁאַל־[אִישׁ]yish/AL-isha man would inquireבִּדְבַרbid/VARof the word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodכֵּןkensoכׇּל־עֲצַתkol-a/TSATall the counsel ofאֲחִיתֹפֶלA/chi/TO/felAhithophelגַּם־לְדָוִדgam-Le/da/VIDboth to Davidגַּםgamalsoלְאַבְשָׁלֹם׃le/Av/sha/LOMto Absalom

    And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
