   Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was toward Absalom.

   And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:

   And come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.

   And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.

   וַיֹּאמֶר־לָהּvay/YO/mer-laand said to herהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמַה־לָּךְma-lakhwhat ails youוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֲבָלa/VALindeedאִשָּׁה־אַלְמָנָהish/SHA-al/ma/NAa widow womanאָנִיA/niam Iוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedאִישִׁי׃i/SHImy husband

   And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and mine husband is dead.

   וּלְשִׁפְחָתְךָu/le/shif/cha/te/KHAand to your handmaidשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoבָנִיםva/NIMsonsוַיִּנָּצוּvay/yin/na/TSUand they foughtשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthe two of themבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noneמַצִּילmats/TSILa delivererבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMbetween themוַיַּכּוֹvay/yak/KOand struckהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneאֶת־הָאֶחָדet-ha/e/CHADthe otherוַיָּמֶתvay/YA/metand killedאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

   And thy handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him.

   וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdקָמָהKA/mahas risenכׇל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָהkhol-ham/mish/pa/CHAthe whole familyעַל־שִׁפְחָתֶךָal-shif/cha/TE/khaagainst your handmaidוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidתְּנִיte/NIgiveאֶת־מַכֵּהet-mak/KEhim who struckאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherוּנְמִתֵהוּu/ne/mi/TE/huthat we may kill himבְּנֶפֶשׁbe/NE/feshfor the life ofאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהָרָגha/RAGhe killedוְנַשְׁמִידָהve/nash/MI/daand let us destroyגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הַיּוֹרֵשׁet-hay/yo/RESHthe heirוְכִבּוּve/khib/BUand they will quenchאֶת־גַּחַלְתִּיet-ga/chal/TImy emberאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִשְׁאָרָהnish/A/rais leftלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as not(שום)shavam[שִׂים־]לְאִישִׁיsim-le/i/SHIto set for my husbandשֵׁםshema nameוּשְׁאֵרִיתu/she/e/RITand a remnantעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the face ofהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAthe earth

   And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהel-ha/ish/SHAto the womanלְכִיle/KHIgoלְבֵיתֵךְle/ve/TEKHto your houseוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֲצַוֶּהa/tsav/VEwill give chargeעָלָיִךְ׃a/LA/yikhconcerning you

   And the king said unto the woman, Go to thine house, and I will give charge concerning thee.

   וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanהַתְּקוֹעִיתhat/Te/ko/ITthe Tekoiteאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingעָלַיa/LAYon meאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהֶעָוֺןhe/a/VONthe iniquityוְעַל־בֵּיתve/AL-betand on the house ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherוְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingוְכִסְאוֹve/khis/Oand his throneנָקִי׃na/KIguiltless

   And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house: and the king and his throne be guiltless.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהַמְדַבֵּרham/dab/BERwhoever speaksאֵלַיִךְe/LA/yikhto youוַהֲבֵאתוֹva/ha/ve/TObring himאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְלֹא־יֹסִיףve/LO-yo/SIFand he will not againעוֹדodany moreלָגַעַתla/GA/atto touchבָּךְ׃bakhyou

    And the king said, Whosoever saith ought unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidיִזְכׇּר־נָאyiz/KOR-nalet remember I prayהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour God[מֵהַרְבַּת]me/har/BATfrom increasingגֹּאֵלgo/ELthe avenger ofהַדָּםhad/DAMthe bloodלְשַׁחֵתle/sha/CHETto destroyוְלֹאve/LOand notיַשְׁמִידוּyash/MI/duthey destroyאֶת־בְּנִיet-be/NImy sonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesאִם־יִפֹּלim-yip/POLthere shall not fallמִשַּׂעֲרַתmis/sa/a/RATfrom the hair ofבְּנֵךְbe/NEKHyour sonאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the ground

    Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanתְּדַבֶּר־נָאte/dab/BER-nalet speak I prayשִׁפְחָתְךָshif/cha/te/KHAyour handmaidאֶל־אֲדֹנִיel-a/do/NIto my lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּבָרda/VARa wordוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidדַּבֵּרִי׃dab/BE/rispeak

    Then the woman said, Let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak one word unto my lord the king. And he said, Say on.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanוְלָמָּהve/LAM/mawhy thenחָשַׁבְתָּהcha/SHAV/tahave you devisedכָּזֹאתka/ZOTsuch a thingעַל־עַםal-amagainst the people ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוּמִדַּבֵּרu/mid/dab/BERand in speakingהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכְּאָשֵׁםke/a/SHEMas one guiltyלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIin notהָשִׁיבha/SHIVbringing backהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־נִדְּחוֹ׃et-nid/de/CHOhis banished one

    And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? for the king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished.

    כִּי־מוֹתki-motfor dieנָמוּתna/MUTwe shall dieוְכַמַּיִםve/kham/MA/yimand like waterהַנִּגָּרִיםhan/nig/ga/RIMpoured outאַרְצָהAR/tsaon the groundאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיֵאָסֵפוּye/a/SE/fucan be gathered upוְלֹא־יִשָּׂאve/LO-yis/SAand does not take awayאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodנֶפֶשׁNE/fesha lifeוְחָשַׁבve/cha/SHAVbut devisesמַחֲשָׁבוֹתma/cha/sha/VOTplansלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as notיִדַּחyid/DACHbe banishedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himנִדָּח׃nid/DACHthe banished one

    For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתִיa/SHER-BA/tithat I have comeלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkibecauseיֵרְאֻנִיyer/U/nihave made me afraidהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidשִׁפְחָתְךָshif/cha/te/KHAyour handmaidאֲדַבְּרָה־נָּאa/dab/be/RA-nalet me speak nowאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEwill doהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofאֲמָתוֹ׃a/ma/TOhis handmaid

    Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid.

    כִּיkiforיִשְׁמַעyish/MAwill hearהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלְהַצִּילle/hats/TSILto deliverאֶת־אֲמָתוֹet-a/ma/TOhis handmaidמִכַּףmik/KAFfrom the hand ofהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDwho would destroyאֹתִיo/TImeוְאֶת־בְּנִיve/ET-be/NIand my sonיַחַדYA/chadtogetherמִנַּחֲלַתmin/na/cha/LATout of the inheritance ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidשִׁפְחָתְךָshif/cha/te/KHAyour handmaidיִהְיֶה־נָּאyih/YE-nalet now beדְּבַר־אֲדֹנִיde/VAR-a/do/NIthe word of my lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְנֻחָהlim/nu/CHAfor restכִּיkiforכְּמַלְאַךְke/mal/AKHas an angel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodכֵּןkensoאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe goodוְהָרָעve/ha/RAand the evilוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godיְהִיye/HIbeעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

    Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD thy God will be with thee.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהel-ha/ish/SHAto the womanאַל־נָאal-nado not I prayתְכַחֲדִיte/kha/cha/DIhideמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meדָּבָרda/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIשֹׁאֵלsho/ELam askingאֹתָךְo/TAKHyouוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanיְדַבֶּר־נָאye/dab/BER-nalet now speakאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהֲיַדha/YADis the hand ofיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youבְּכׇל־זֹאתbe/KHOL-zotin all thisוַתַּעַןvat/TA/anand answeredהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidחֵי־נַפְשְׁךָche-naf/she/KHAas your soul livesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאִם־אִשׁim-ishnone canלְהֵמִיןle/he/MINturn to the right handוּלְהַשְׂמִילu/le/has/MILor to the leftמִכֹּלmik/KOLfrom allאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERthat has spokenאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingכִּי־עַבְדְּךָki-av/de/KHAfor your servantיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabהוּאhuheצִוָּנִיtsiv/VA/nicommanded meוְהוּאve/HUand heשָׂםsamputבְּפִיbe/FIin the mouth ofשִׁפְחָתְךָshif/cha/te/KHAyour handmaidאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:

    To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶל־יוֹאָבel-Yo/AVto Joabהִנֵּה־נָאhin/NE-nabehold nowעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goהָשֵׁבha/SHEVbring backאֶת־הַנַּעַרet-han/NA/arthe young manאֶת־אַבְשָׁלוֹם׃et-Av/sha/LOMAbsalom

    And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.

    וַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabאֶל־פָּנָיוel-pa/NAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed downוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְet-ham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayיָדַעya/DAknowsעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAyour servantכִּי־מָצָאתִיki-ma/TSA/tithat I have foundחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAin that has doneהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word of(עבדו)vadav[עַבְדֶּךָ]׃av/DE/khayour servant

    And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king: and Joab said, To day thy servant knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of his servant.

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentגְּשׁוּרָהGe/SHU/rato Geshurוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand broughtאֶת־אַבְשָׁלוֹםet-Av/sha/LOMAbsalomיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalem

    So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingיִסֹּבyis/SOVlet him turnאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his own houseוּפָנַיu/fa/NAYand my faceלֹאlonotיִרְאֶהyir/Ehe shall seeוַיִּסֹּבvay/yis/SOVand turnedאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his own houseוּפְנֵיu/fe/NEand the face ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלֹאlonotרָאָה׃ra/Ahe saw

    And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face.

    וּכְאַבְשָׁלוֹםu/Khe/av/sha/LOMand like Absalomלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notאִישׁ־יָפֶהish-ya/FEa handsome manבְּכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/KHOL-yis/ra/ELin all Israelלְהַלֵּלle/hal/LELto be praisedמְאֹדme/ODveryמִכַּףmik/KAFfrom the sole ofרַגְלוֹrag/LOhis footוְעַדve/ADand toקׇדְקֳדוֹkod/ko/DOthe crown of his headלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notבוֹvoin himמוּם׃muma blemish

    But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

    וּבְגַלְּחוֹu/ve/gal/le/CHOand when he shavedאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it wasמִקֵּץmik/KETSat the end ofיָמִיםya/MIMdaysלַיָּמִיםlay/ya/MIMevery yearאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְגַלֵּחַye/gal/LE/achhe shavedכִּי־כָבֵדki-kha/VEDbecause it was heavyעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himוְגִלְּחוֹve/gil/le/CHOand he shaved itוְשָׁקַלve/sha/KALand he weighedאֶת־שְׂעַרet-se/ARthe hair ofרֹאשׁוֹro/SHOhis headמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredשְׁקָלִיםshe/ka/LIMshekelsבְּאֶבֶןbe/E/venby the stone ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year's end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king's weight.

    וַיִּוָּלְדוּvay/yiv/va/le/DUand there were bornלְאַבְשָׁלוֹםle/Av/sha/LOMto Absalomשְׁלוֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeבָנִיםva/NIMsonsוּבַתu/VATand a daughterאַחַתa/CHAToneוּשְׁמָהּu/she/MAand her nameתָּמָרTa/MARTamarהִיאhisheהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanיְפַתye/FATbeautiful ofמַרְאֶה׃mar/Eappearance

    And unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.

28. 28

    וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemשְׁנָתַיִםshe/na/TA/yimtwo yearsיָמִיםya/MIMof daysוּפְנֵיu/fe/NEand the face ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלֹאlonotרָאָה׃ra/Ahe saw

    So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.

29. 29

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־יוֹאָבel-Yo/AVto Joabלִשְׁלֹחַlish/LO/achto sendאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוְלֹאve/LObut notאָבָהa/VAhe was willingלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentעוֹדodagainשֵׁנִיתshe/NITthe second timeוְלֹאve/LObut notאָבָהa/VAhe was willingלָבוֹא׃la/VOto come

    Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־עֲבָדָיוel-a/va/DAYVto his servantsרְאוּre/Useeחֶלְקַתchel/KATthe plot ofיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabאֶל־יָדִיel-ya/DIbeside my handוְלוֹ־שָׁםve/LO-shamand he has thereשְׂעֹרִיםse/o/RIMbarleyלְכוּle/KHUgo[וְהַצִּיתוּהָ]ve/hats/tsi/TU/haand kindle itבָאֵשׁva/ESHwith fireוַיַּצִּתוּvay/yats/TSI/tuand kindledעַבְדֵיav/DEthe servants ofאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶת־הַחֶלְקָהet-ha/chel/KAthe plotבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

    Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom's servants set the field on fire.

31. 31

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־אַבְשָׁלוֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomהַבָּיְתָהhab/BAY/tato the houseוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלָמָּהLAM/mawhyהִצִּיתוּhits/TSI/tuhave kindledעֲבָדֶיךָa/va/DE/khayour servantsאֶת־הַחֶלְקָהet-ha/chel/KAthe plotאֲשֶׁר־לִיa/SHER-lithat is mineבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

    Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְשָׁלוֹםAv/sha/LOMAbsalomאֶל־יוֹאָבel-Yo/AVto Joabהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI sentאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבֹּאbocomeהֵנָּהHEN/nahereוְאֶשְׁלְחָהve/esh/le/CHAthat I may sendאֹתְךָot/KHAyouאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלָמָּהLAM/mawhyבָּאתִיBA/tihave I comeמִגְּשׁוּרmig/Ge/SHURfrom Geshurטוֹבtovgoodלִיlifor meעֹדodstillאֲנִי־שָׁםa/NI-shamI were thereוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֶרְאֶהer/Elet me seeפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְאִם־יֶשׁ־בִּיve/IM-yesh-biand if there be in meעָוֺןa/VONiniquityוֶהֱמִתָנִי׃ve/he/mi/TA/nithen let him kill me

    And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.

33. 33

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he called forאֶל־אַבְשָׁלוֹםel-Av/sha/LOMto Absalomוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed downלוֹloto himעַל־אַפָּיוal-ap/PAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיִּשַּׁקvay/yish/SHAKand kissedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלְאַבְשָׁלוֹם׃Le/av/sha/LOMAbsalom

    So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
