1. 1

   Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

   And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passמִקְצֵהfrom the end ofשֶׁבַעsevenשָׁנִיםyearsוַתָּשׇׁבand she returnedהָאִשָּׁהthe womanמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPhilistinesוַתֵּצֵאand went outלִצְעֹקto cryאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְunto the kingאֶל־בֵּיתָהּto her houseוְאֶל־שָׂדָהּ׃and her field

   And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

   וְהַמֶּלֶךְand the kingמְדַבֵּרspeaksאֶל־גֵּחֲזִיto Gehaziנַעַרa young manאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםthe man of Godלֵאמֹרsayingסַפְּרָה־נָּאrecount nowלִיto meאֵת־כׇּל־הַגְּדֹלוֹתall the great thingsאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didאֱלִישָׁע׃Elisha

   And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passהוּאheמְסַפֵּרtellלַמֶּלֶךְthe kingאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָהhow he restored to lifeאֶת־הַמֵּתthe diedוְהִנֵּהand beholdהָאִשָּׁהthe womanאֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָהwhich he restored to lifeאֶת־בְּנָהּher sonצֹעֶקֶתwas crying out for helpאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְunto the kingעַל־בֵּיתָהּupon her houseוְעַל־שָׂדָהּand upon her fieldוַיֹּאמֶרand saidגֵּחֲזִיGehaziאֲדֹנִיmy lordהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingזֹאתthisהָאִשָּׁהthe womanוְזֶה־בְּנָהּand this her sonאֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָהwhich he restored to lifeאֱלִישָׁע׃Elisha

   And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

   וַיִּשְׁאַלand askedהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingלָאִשָּׁהto the womanוַתְּסַפֶּר־לוֹand she recounted himוַיִּתֶּן־לָהּand appointed to herהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingסָרִיסa court officialאֶחָדoneלֵאמֹרsayingהָשֵׁיבrestoreאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּall that was hersוְאֵתandכׇּל־תְּבוּאֹתall produceהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldמִיּוֹםfrom the dayעׇזְבָהֿshe forsookאֶת־הָאָרֶץthe landוְעַד־עָתָּה׃and until now

   And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

   וַיָּבֹאand cameאֱלִישָׁעElishaדַּמֶּשֶׂקDamascusוּבֶן־הֲדַדand Ben-hadadמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםthe king of Syriaחֹלֶהis sickוַיֻּגַּד־לוֹand it shall be told himלֵאמֹרsayingבָּאcameאִישׁthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodעַד־הֵנָּה׃hitherto

   And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingאֶל־חֲזָהאֵלto Hazaelקַחtakeבְּיָדְךָin your handמִנְחָהa presentוְלֵךְand goלִקְרַאתto meetאִישׁthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוְדָרַשְׁתָּand inquire ofאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDמֵאוֹתוֹfrom himלֵאמֹרsayingהַאֶחְיֶהwill I liveמֵחֳלִיfrom sicknessזֶה׃this

   And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

9. 9

   וַיֵּלֶךְand wentחֲזָאֵלHazaelלִקְרָאתוֹto meet himוַיִּקַּחand tookמִנְחָהa presentבְיָדוֹin his handוְכׇל־טוּבand all good thing ofדַּמֶּשֶׂקDamascusמַשָּׂאthe burden ofאַרְבָּעִיםfortyגָּמָלcamelsוַיָּבֹאand cameוַיַּעֲמֹדand stoodלְפָנָיוbefore himוַיֹּאמֶרand saidבִּנְךָyour sonבֶן־הֲדַדBen-hadadמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםthe king of Syriaשְׁלָחַנִיsent meאֵלֶיךָto youלֵאמֹרsayingהַאֶחְיֶהwill I liveמֵחֳלִיfrom sicknessזֶה׃this

   So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוto himאֱלִישָׁעElishaלֵךְgoאֱמׇר־[לוֹ]say to him(לא)חָיֹהsurelyתִחְיֶהyou will liveוְהִרְאַנִיand will show meיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּי־מוֹתthat surelyיָמוּת׃he shall die

    And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

11. 11

    וַיַּעֲמֵדand he stoodאֶת־פָּנָיוhis faceוַיָּשֶׂםand he setעַד־בֹּשׁuntil was ashamedוַיֵּבְךְּand he weptאִישׁthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God

    And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidחֲזָאֵלHazaelמַדּוּעַwhyאֲדֹנִיmy lordבֹכֶהweepingוַיֹּאמֶרand saidכִּי־יָדַעְתִּיbecause I knowאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־תַּעֲשֶׂהwhich you makeלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelרָעָהevilמִבְצְרֵיהֶםtheir fortressesתְּשַׁלַּחyou will setבָּאֵשׁby fireוּבַחֻרֵיהֶםand their young menבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordתַּהֲרֹגyou will slayוְעֹלְלֵיהֶםtheir children alsoתְּרַטֵּשׁyou will dash in piecesוְהָרֹתֵיהֶםand their pregnant womenתְּבַקֵּעַ׃you will rip open

    And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidחֲזָהאֵלHazaelכִּיbecauseמָהwhatעַבְדְּךָyour servantהַכֶּלֶבthe dogכִּיbecauseיַעֲשֶׂהhe shall doהַדָּבָרthe thingהַגָּדוֹלthe greatהַזֶּהthisוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֱלִישָׁעElishaהִרְאַנִיhas shown meיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹתְךָyouמֶלֶךְkingעַל־אֲרָם׃upon Syria

    And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

14. 14

    וַיֵּלֶךְand wentמֵאֵתfromאֱלִישָׁעElishaוַיָּבֹאand cameאֶל־אֲדֹנָיוto his masterוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himמָה־אָמַרwhat saidלְךָfor youאֱלִישָׁעElishaוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאָמַרsaidלִיto meחָיֹהsurelyתִחְיֶה׃you will live

    So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתfrom the next day ofוַיִּקַּחand tookהַמַּכְבֵּרthe coverletוַיִּטְבֹּלand dippedבַּמַּיִםin the waterוַיִּפְרֹשׂand he spread outעַל־פָּנָיוupon his faceוַיָּמֹתand he diedוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignחֲזָהאֵלHazaelתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

16. 16

    וּבִשְׁנַתand in the year ofחָמֵשׁfiveלְיוֹרָםof Joramבֶּן־אַחְאָבson of Ahabמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוִיהוֹשָׁפָטand Jehoshaphatמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahמָלַךְhas become kingיְהוֹרָםJehoramבֶּן־יְהוֹשָׁפָטson of Jehoshaphatמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

17. 17

    בֶּן־שְׁלֹשִׁיםson of thirtyוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנָהyearsהָיָהwasבְמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוּשְׁמֹנֶהand eight(שנה)[שָׁנִים]yearsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃in Jerusalem

    Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18. 18

    וַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofמַלְכֵיthe kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרasעָשׂוּthey didבֵּיתthe house ofאַחְאָבAhabכִּיforבַּת־אַחְאָבdaughter of Ahabהָיְתָהwasלּוֹto himלְאִשָּׁהfor wifeוַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

19. 19

    וְלֹא־אָבָהand not was willingיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְהַשְׁחִיתto destroyאֶת־יְהוּדָהJudahלְמַעַןin order thatדָּוִדDavidעַבְדּוֹhis servantכַּאֲשֶׁרasאָמַר־לוֹhe promised himלָתֵתto giveלוֹto himנִירa lampלְבָנָיוto his sonsכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃all the days

    Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

20. 20

    בְּיָמָיוin his daysפָּשַׁעhe has rebelledאֱדוֹםEdomמִתַּחַתfrom beneathיַד־יְהוּדָהhand of Judahוַיַּמְלִכוּand they made kingעֲלֵיהֶםupon themמֶלֶךְ׃a king

    In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

21. 21

    וַיַּעֲבֹרand he went overיוֹרָםJoramצָעִירָהto Zairוְכׇל־הָרֶכֶבand all the chariotsעִמּוֹwith himוַיְהִי־הוּאand it came to pass heקָםaroseלַיְלָהnightוַיַּכֶּהand he smoteאֶת־אֱדוֹםEdomהַסֹּבֵיבthe one which was surroundingאֵלָיוto himוְאֵתandשָׂרֵיcaptains ofהָרֶכֶבthe chariotsוַיָּנׇסand fledהָעָםthe peopleלְאֹהָלָיו׃to their tents

    So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

22. 22

    וַיִּפְשַׁעand it rebelledאֱדוֹםEdomמִתַּחַתfrom beneathיַד־יְהוּדָהhand of Judahעַדuntilהַיּוֹםthe dayהַזֶּהthisאָזthenתִּפְשַׁעit rebelledלִבְנָהLibnahבָּעֵתat the timeהַהִיא׃that

    Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23. 23

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofיוֹרָםJoramוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didהֲלֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24. 24

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבand sleptיוֹרָםJoramעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרand was buriedעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersבְּעִירin the city ofדָּוִדDavidוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignאֲחַזְיָהוּAhaziahבְנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

25. 25

    בִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהtwelveשָׁנָהyearsלְיוֹרָםof Joramבֶּן־אַחְאָבson of Ahabמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמָלַךְhas become kingאֲחַזְיָהוּAhaziahבֶן־יְהוֹרָםson of Jehoramמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.

26. 26

    בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִיםson of twentyוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנָהyearsאֲחַזְיָהוּAhaziahבְמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוְשָׁנָהand a yearאַחַתoneמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherעֲתַלְיָהוּAthaliahבַּת־עׇמְרִיdaughter of Omriמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

    וַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofבֵּיתthe house ofאַחְאָבAhabוַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּבֵיתas the house ofאַחְאָבAhabכִּיforחֲתַןson in law ofבֵּית־אַחְאָבhouse of Ahabהוּא׃he

    And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

28. 28

    וַיֵּלֶךְand wentאֶת־יוֹרָםJoramבֶּן־אַחְאָבson of Ahabלַמִּלְחָמָהto the warעִם־חֲזָאֵלwith Hazaelמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםthe king of Syriaבְּרָמֹתin Ramoth-גִּלְעָדgileadוַיַּכּוּand they struckאֲרַמִּיםthe Syriansאֶת־יוֹרָם׃Joram

    And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29. 29

    וַיָּשׇׁבand he returnedיוֹרָםJoramהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingלְהִתְרַפֵּאto get himself healedבְיִזְרְעֶאלin Jezreelמִן־הַמַּכִּיםof the woundsאֲשֶׁרwhichיַכֻּהוּthey wounded himאֲרַמִּיםthe Syriansבָּרָמָהin Ramahבְּהִלָּחֲמוֹwhen he foughtאֶת־חֲזָהאֵלHazaelמֶלֶךְthe king ofאֲרָםSyriaוַאֲחַזְיָהוּand Ahaziahבֶן־יְהוֹרָםson of Jehoramמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahיָרַדcame downלִרְאוֹתto seeאֶת־יוֹרָםJoramבֶּן־אַחְאָבson of Ahabבְּיִזְרְעֶאלis in Jezreelכִּי־חֹלֶהbecause is sickהוּא׃he

    And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
