1. 1

   And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

   נֵלְכָה־נָּאnel/KHA-nalet us go nowעַד־הַיַּרְדֵּןad-Hay/yar/DENto the Jordanוְנִקְחָהve/nik/CHAand let us takeמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאִישׁisheachקוֹרָהko/RAbeamאֶחָתe/CHAToneוְנַעֲשֶׂה־לָּנוּve/na/a/SE-LA/nuand let us make for ourselvesשָׁםshamthereמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellשָׁםshamthereוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלֵכוּ׃LE/khugo

   Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneהוֹאֶלHO/elbe pleasedנָאnapleaseוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goאֶת־עֲבָדֶיךָet-a/va/DE/khawith your servantsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲנִיa/NIIאֵלֵךְ׃e/LEKHwill go

   And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhso he wentאִתָּםit/TAMwith themוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameהַיַּרְדֵּנָהhay/Yar/DE/nato the Jordanוַיִּגְזְרוּvay/yig/ze/RUthey cut downהָעֵצִים׃ha/e/TSIMthe trees

   So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneמַפִּילmap/PILwas fellingהַקּוֹרָהhak/ko/RAthe beamוְאֶת־הַבַּרְזֶלve/ET-hab/bar/ZELthe ironנָפַלna/FALfellאֶל־הַמָּיִםel-ham/MA/yiminto the waterוַיִּצְעַקvay/yits/AKand he criedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲהָהּa/HAalasאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordוְהוּאve/HUfor itשָׁאוּל׃sha/ULwas borrowed

   But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of GodאָנָהA/nawhereנָפָלna/FALdid it fallוַיַּרְאֵהוּvay/yar/E/huand he showed himאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםet-ham/ma/KOMthe placeוַיִּקְצׇב־עֵץvay/yik/TSOV-etsand he cut off a stickוַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־שָׁמָּהvay/yash/LEKH-SHAM/maand threw it thereוַיָּצֶףvay/YA/tsefand made floatהַבַּרְזֶל׃hab/bar/ZELthe iron

   And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָרֶםHA/rempick it upלָךְlakhfor yourselfוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he stretched outיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַיִּקָּחֵהוּ׃vay/yik/ka/CHE/huand he took it

   Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

   וּמֶלֶךְu/ME/lekhand the king ofאֲרָםA/RAMAramהָיָהha/YAwasנִלְחָםnil/CHAMfightingבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELagainst Israelוַיִּוָּעַץvay/yiv/va/ATSand he took counselאֶל־עֲבָדָיוel-a/va/DAYVwith his servantsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMat the place ofפְּלֹנִיpe/lo/NIsuchאַלְמֹנִיal/mo/NIand suchתַּחֲנֹתִי׃ta/cha/no/TImy camp

   Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhto the king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִשָּׁמֶרhish/SHA/merbewareמֵעֲבֹרme/a/VORof passingהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּי־שָׁםki-shamfor thereאֲרָםA/RAMAramנְחִתִּים׃ne/chit/TIMare coming down

   And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMto the placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָמַר־לוֹa/MAR-lohad told himאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godוְהִזְהִירֹהve/hiz/hi/ROand warned himוְנִשְׁמַרve/nish/MARand he guarded himselfשָׁםshamthereלֹאlonotאַחַתa/CHATonceוְלֹאve/LOnorשְׁתָּיִם׃SHTA/yimtwice

    And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

    וַיִּסָּעֵרvay/yis/sa/ERand was troubledלֵבlevthe heart ofמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםME/lekh-A/RAMthe king of Aramעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARover the matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֶל־עֲבָדָיוel-a/va/DAYVto his servantsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהֲלוֹאha/LOwill you notתַּגִּידוּtag/GI/dutellלִיlito meמִיmiwhoמִשֶּׁלָּנוּmish/shel/LA/nuof oursאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhis for the king ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַחַדa/CHADoneמֵעֲבָדָיוme/a/va/DAYVof his servantsלוֹאlonoאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhO kingכִּי־אֱלִישָׁעki-E/li/SHAbut Elishaהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho isבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelיַגִּידyag/GIDtellsלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתְּדַבֵּרte/dab/BERyou speakבַּחֲדַרba/cha/DARin the chamber ofמִשְׁכָּבֶךָ׃mish/ka/VE/khayour bed

    And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלְכוּle/KHUgoוּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeאֵיכֹהe/KHOwhereהוּאhuhe isוְאֶשְׁלַחve/esh/LACHthat I may sendוְאֶקָּחֵהוּve/ek/ka/CHE/huand take himוַיֻּגַּד־לוֹvay/yug/GAD-loand it was told himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבְדֹתָן׃ve/Do/TANin Dothan

    And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

    וַיִּשְׁלַח־שָׁמָּהvay/yish/LACH-SHAM/maand he sent thereסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesוְרֶכֶבve/RE/khevand chariotsוְחַיִלve/CHA/yiland a forceכָּבֵדka/VEDgreatוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameלַיְלָהLAY/laby nightוַיַּקִּפוּvay/yak/KI/fuand they surroundedעַל־הָעִיר׃al-ha/IRthe city

    Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

15. 15

    וַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand he rose earlyמְשָׁרֵתme/sha/RETthe attendant ofאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלָקוּםla/KUMto ariseוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outוְהִנֵּה־חַיִלve/hin/NE-CHA/yiland behold an armyסוֹבֵבso/VEVsurroundingאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityוְסוּסve/SUSwith horsesוָרָכֶבva/RA/khevand chariotsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidנַעֲרוֹna/a/ROhis servantאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲהָהּa/HAalasאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordאֵיכָהe/KHAhowנַעֲשֶׂה׃na/a/SEshall we do

    And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAbe not afraidכִּיkiforרַבִּיםrab/BIMmoreאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthose who areאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan those who areאוֹתָם׃o/TAMwith them

    And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17. 17

    וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand he prayedאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDפְּקַח־נָאpe/KACH-naopen pleaseאֶת־עֵינָיוet-e/NAYVhis eyesוְיִרְאֶהve/yir/Ethat he may seeוַיִּפְקַחvay/yif/KACHand openedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־עֵינֵיet-e/NEthe eyes ofהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe young manוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהָהָרha/HARthe mountainמָלֵאma/LEfull ofסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesוְרֶכֶבve/RE/khevand chariots ofאֵשׁeshfireסְבִיבֹתse/vi/VOTround aboutאֱלִישָׁע׃E/li/SHAElisha

    And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

18. 18

    וַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUand they came downאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand he prayedאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַךְ־נָאhakh-nastrike pleaseאֶת־הַגּוֹי־הַזֶּהet-hag/GOY-haz/ZEthis nationבַּסַּנְוֵרִיםbas/san/ve/RIMwith blindnessוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand he struck themבַּסַּנְוֵרִיםbas/san/ve/RIMwith blindnessכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofאֱלִישָׁע׃E/li/SHAElisha

    And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaלֹאlonotזֶהzeis thisהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayוְלֹאve/LOnorזֹהzois thisהָעִירha/IRthe cityלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meוְאוֹלִיכָהve/o/LI/khaand I will leadאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־הָאִישׁel-ha/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomתְּבַקֵּשׁוּןte/vak/ke/SHUNyou seekוַיֹּלֶךְvay/YO/lekhand he ledאוֹתָםo/TAMthemשֹׁמְרוֹנָה׃Shom/RO/nato Samaria

    And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבֹאָםke/vo/AMwhen they had comeשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONinto Samariaוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDפְּקַחpe/KACHopenאֶת־עֵינֵי־אֵלֶּהet-e/NE-EL/lethe eyes of theseוְיִרְאוּve/yir/Uthat they may seeוַיִּפְקַחvay/yif/KACHand openedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־עֵינֵיהֶםet-e/ne/HEMtheir eyesוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Shom/RONSamaria

    And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelאֶל־אֱלִישָׁעel-E/li/SHAto Elishaכִּרְאֹתוֹkir/o/TOwhen he sawאוֹתָםo/TAMthemהַאַכֶּהha/ak/KEshall I strikeאַכֶּהak/KEshall I strikeאָבִי׃a/VImy father

    And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלֹאlodo notתַכֶּהtak/KEstrikeהַאֲשֶׁרha/a/SHERthose whomשָׁבִיתָsha/VI/tayou have taken captiveבְּחַרְבְּךָbe/char/be/KHAwith your swordוּבְקַשְׁתְּךָu/ve/kash/te/KHAand with your bowאַתָּהat/TAwould youמַכֶּהmak/KEstrikeשִׂיםsimputלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוָמַיִםva/MA/yimand waterלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוְיֹאכְלוּve/yo/khe/LUthat they may eatוְיִשְׁתּוּve/yish/TUand drinkוְיֵלְכוּve/yel/KHUand goאֶל־אֲדֹנֵיהֶם׃el-a/do/ne/HEMto their master

    And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

23. 23

    וַיִּכְרֶהvay/yikh/REand he preparedלָהֶםla/HEMfor themכֵּרָהke/RAa feastגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateוַיִּשְׁתּוּvay/yish/TUand they drankוַיְשַׁלְּחֵםvay/shal/le/CHEMand he sent them awayוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentאֶל־אֲדֹנֵיהֶםel-a/do/ne/HEMto their masterוְלֹא־יָסְפוּve/LO-ya/se/FUand did not againעוֹדodany moreגְּדוּדֵיge/du/DEthe raiding bands ofאֲרָםA/RAMAramלָבוֹאla/VOcomeבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsinto the land ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafter thisוַיִּקְבֹּץvay/yik/BOTSthat gatheredבֶּן־הֲדַדben-Ha/DADBen-hadadמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםME/lekh-A/RAMthe king of Aramאֶת־כׇּל־מַחֲנֵהוּet-kol-ma/cha/NE/huall his armyוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upוַיָּצַרvay/YA/tsarand he besiegedעַל־שֹׁמְרוֹן׃al-Shom/RONSamaria

    And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasרָעָבra/AVfamineגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatבְּשֹׁמְרוֹןbe/Shom/RONin Samariaוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdצָרִיםtsa/RIMthey were besiegingעָלֶיהָa/LE/haitעַדaduntilהֱיוֹתhe/YOTwasרֹאשׁ־חֲמוֹרrosh-cha/MORthe head of a donkeyבִּשְׁמֹנִיםbish/mo/NIMfor eightyכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוְרֹבַעve/RO/vaand a quarter ofהַקַּבhak/KAVthe kab(חרי)charay[דִּב־]יוֹנִיםdiv-yo/NIMdove's dungבַּחֲמִשָּׁה־כָסֶף׃ba/cha/mish/SHA-KHA/seffor five silver

    And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand asמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעֹבֵרo/VERwas passingעַל־הַחֹמָהal-ha/cho/MAupon the wallוְאִשָּׁהve/ish/SHAand a womanצָעֲקָהtsa/a/KAcriedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהוֹשִׁיעָהho/SHI/asaveאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhO king

    And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאַל־יוֹשִׁעֵךְal-yo/shi/EKHif does not save youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereאוֹשִׁיעֵךְo/shi/EKHshall I save youהֲמִן־הַגֹּרֶןha/MIN-hag/GO/renfrom the threshing floorאוֹoorמִן־הַיָּקֶב׃min-hay/YA/kevfrom the winepress

    And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶר־לָהּvay/YO/mer-laand said to herהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמַה־לָּךְma-lakhwhat is with youוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand she saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAwomanהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאָמְרָהa/me/RAsaidאֵלַיe/LAYto meתְּנִיte/NIgiveאֶת־בְּנֵךְet-be/NEKHyour sonוְנֹאכְלֶנּוּve/no/khe/LEN/nuthat we may eat himהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayוְאֶת־בְּנִיve/ET-be/NIand my sonנֹאכַלno/KHALwe will eatמָחָר׃ma/CHARtomorrow

    And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

29. 29

    וַנְּבַשֵּׁלvan/ne/vash/SHELso we boiledאֶת־בְּנִיet-be/NImy sonוַנֹּאכְלֵהוּvan/no/khe/LE/huand we ate himוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהָאַחֵרha/a/CHERnextתְּנִיte/NIgiveאֶת־בְּנֵךְet-be/NEKHyour sonוְנֹאכְלֶנּוּve/no/khe/LEN/nuthat we may eat himוַתַּחְבִּאvat/tach/BIbut she has hiddenאֶת־בְּנָהּ׃et-be/NAher son

    So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִשְׁמֹעַkhish/MO/awhen heardהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanוַיִּקְרַעvay/yik/RAand he toreאֶת־בְּגָדָיוet-be/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוְהוּאve/HUand heעֹבֵרo/VERwas passingעַל־הַחֹמָהal-ha/cho/MAupon the wallוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַשַּׂקhas/SAKsackclothעַל־בְּשָׂרוֹal-be/sa/ROupon his fleshמִבָּיִת׃mib/BA/yitunderneath

    And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכֹּה־יַעֲשֶׂה־לִּיko-ya/a/SE-limay do so to meאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְכֹהve/KHOand moreיוֹסִףyo/SIFalsoאִם־יַעֲמֹדim-ya/a/MODif shall standרֹאשׁroshthe head ofאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaבֶּן־שָׁפָטben-Sha/FATthe son of Shaphatעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himהַיּוֹם׃hay/YOMtoday

    Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

    וֶאֱלִישָׁעVe/e/li/SHAand Elishaיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas sittingבְּבֵיתוֹbe/ve/TOin his houseוְהַזְּקֵנִיםve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the eldersיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMsittingאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentאִישׁisha manמִלְּפָנָיוmil/le/fa/NAYVfrom before himבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיָבֹאya/VOcameהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe messengerאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְהוּאve/HUand heאָמַרa/MARsaidאֶל־הַזְּקֵנִיםel-haz/ze/ke/NIMto the eldersהַרְּאִיתֶםhar/re/i/TEMdo you seeכִּי־שָׁלַחki-sha/LACHhow has sentבֶּן־הַמְרַצֵּחַben-ham/rats/TSE/achthe son of a murdererהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהָסִירle/ha/SIRto take awayאֶת־רֹאשִׁיet-ro/SHImy headרְאוּre/Ulookכְּבֹאke/VOwhen comesהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe messengerסִגְרוּsig/RUshutהַדֶּלֶתhad/DE/letthe doorוּלְחַצְתֶּםu/le/chats/TEMand hold fastאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַּדֶּלֶתbad/DE/letat the doorהֲלוֹאha/LOis notקוֹלkolthe sound ofרַגְלֵיrag/LEthe feet ofאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVbehind him

    But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

    עוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuwhile he was stillמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingעִמָּםim/MAMwith themוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe messengerיֹרֵדyo/REDcame downאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּה־זֹאתhin/NE-zotbehold thisהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilמֵאֵתme/ETfromיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמָה־אוֹחִילma-o/CHILwhy should I waitלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaifor the LORDעוֹד׃odany more

    And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?
