   Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.

2. 2

   וַאֲרָםva/A/RAMand Aramיָצְאוּya/tse/Uhad gone outגְדוּדִיםge/du/DIMin raiding bandsוַיִּשְׁבּוּvay/yish/BUand had taken captiveמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelנַעֲרָהna/a/RAa girlקְטַנָּהke/tan/NAlittleוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand she wasלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofנַעֲמָן׃Na/a/MANNaaman

   And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.

   וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֶל־גְּבִרְתָּהּel-ge/vir/TAto her mistressאַחֲלֵיa/cha/LEwould thatאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lord wereלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבְּשֹׁמְרוֹןbe/Shom/RONis in Samariaאָזazthenיֶאֱסֹףye/e/SOFhe would recoverאֹתוֹo/TOhimמִצָּרַעְתּוֹ׃mits/tsa/ra/TOfrom his leprosy

   And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he went inוַיַּגֵּדvay/yag/GEDand he toldלַאדֹנָיוla/do/NAYVto his masterלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכָּזֹאתka/ZOTthusוְכָזֹאתve/kha/ZOTand thusדִּבְּרָהdib/be/RAsaidהַנַּעֲרָהhan/na/a/RAthe girlאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho isמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֶלֶךְ־אֲרָםME/lekh-A/RAMthe king of Aramלֶךְ־בֹּאlekh-bogo nowוְאֶשְׁלְחָהve/esh/le/CHAand I will sendסֵפֶרSE/fera letterאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhto the king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handעֶשֶׂרE/sertenכִּכְּרֵי־כֶסֶףkik/ke/RE-KHE/seftalents of silverוְשֵׁשֶׁתve/SHE/shetand sixאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandזָהָבza/HAVof goldוְעֶשֶׂרve/E/serand tenחֲלִיפוֹתcha/li/FOTchanges ofבְּגָדִים׃be/ga/DIMgarments

   And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.

   וַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtהַסֵּפֶרhas/SE/ferthe letterאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhto the king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכְּבוֹאke/VOwhen comesהַסֵּפֶרhas/SE/ferthe letterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI have sentאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאֶת־נַעֲמָןet-Na/a/MANNaamanעַבְדִּיav/DImy servantוַאֲסַפְתּוֹva/a/saf/TOthat you may recover himמִצָּרַעְתּוֹ׃mits/tsa/ra/TOfrom his leprosy

   And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּקְרֹאkik/ROwhen readמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelאֶת־הַסֵּפֶרet-has/SE/ferthe letterוַיִּקְרַעvay/yik/RAand he toreבְּגָדָיוbe/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMis it GodאָנִיA/niIלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killוּלְהַחֲיוֹתu/le/ha/cha/YOTand to make aliveכִּי־זֶהki-zethat this oneשֹׁלֵחַsho/LE/achsendsאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֶאֱסֹףle/e/SOFto recoverאִישׁisha manמִצָּרַעְתּוֹmits/tsa/ra/TOfrom his leprosyכִּיkiforאַךְ־דְּעוּ־נָאakh-de/U-naonly know pleaseוּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeכִּי־מִתְאַנֶּהki-mit/an/NEthat seeking a quarrelהוּאhuhe isלִי׃liwith me

   And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godכִּי־קָרַעki-ka/RAthat had tornמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelאֶת־בְּגָדָיוet-be/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלָמָּהLAM/mawhyקָרַעְתָּka/RA/tahave you tornבְּגָדֶיךָbe/ga/DE/khayour garmentsיָבֹא־נָאya/VO-nalet him come pleaseאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְיֵדַעve/ye/DAand he shall knowכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere isנָבִיאna/VIa prophetבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

   And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanבְּסוּסָוbe/su/SAVwith his horsesוּבְרִכְבּוֹu/ve/rikh/BOand with his chariotוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodפֶּתַח־הַבַּיִתPE/tach-hab/BA/yitat the door of the houseלֶאֱלִישָׁע׃Le/e/li/SHAof Elisha

   So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

10. 10

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaמַלְאָךְmal/AKHa messengerלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoוְרָחַצְתָּve/ra/chats/TAand washשֶׁבַע־פְּעָמִיםSHE/va-pe/a/MIMseven timesבַּיַּרְדֵּןbay/Yar/DENin the Jordanוְיָשֹׁבve/ya/SHOVand shall be restoredבְּשָׂרְךָbe/sa/re/KHAyour fleshלְךָle/KHAto youוּטְהָר׃u/te/HARand be clean

    And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

    וַיִּקְצֹףvay/yik/TSOFand was angryנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanוַיֵּלַךְvay/ye/LAKHand went awayוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidאֵלַיe/LAYto myselfיֵצֵאye/TSEhe will come outיָצוֹאya/TSOcome outוְעָמַדve/a/MADand standוְקָרָאve/ka/RAand callבְּשֵׁם־יְהֹוָהbe/SHEM-Adonaiin the name of the LORDאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis Godוְהֵנִיףve/he/NIFand waveיָדוֹya/DOhis handאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMover the placeוְאָסַףve/a/SAFand recoverהַמְּצֹרָע׃ham/me/tso/RAthe leper

    But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

    הֲלֹאha/LOare notטוֹבtovbetter(אבנה)vanah[אֲמָנָה]A/ma/NAAmanaוּפַרְפַּרu/Far/PARand Pharparנַהֲרוֹתna/ha/ROTrivers ofדַּמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekDamascusמִכֹּלmik/KOLthan allמֵימֵיme/MEthe waters ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהֲלֹא־אֶרְחַץha/LO-er/CHATScould I not washבָּהֶםba/HEMin themוְטָהָרְתִּיve/ta/HAR/tiand I will be cleanוַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he turnedוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand went awayבְּחֵמָה׃be/che/MAin fury

    Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.

13. 13

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearעֲבָדָיוa/va/DAYVhis servantsוַיְדַבְּרוּvay/dab/be/RUand spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאָבִיa/VImy fatherדָּבָרda/VARa thingגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetדִּבֶּרdib/BERhad toldאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youהֲלוֹאha/LOwould you notתַעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEdo itוְאַףve/AFhow much moreכִּי־אָמַרki-a/MARwhen he has saidאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youרְחַץre/CHATSwashוּטְהָר׃u/te/HARand be clean

    And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

14. 14

    וַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redso he went downוַיִּטְבֹּלvay/yit/BOLand dipped himselfבַּיַּרְדֵּןbay/Yar/DENin the JordanשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand was restoredבְּשָׂרוֹbe/sa/ROhis fleshכִּבְשַׂרkiv/SARlike the flesh ofנַעַרNA/ara boyקָטֹןka/TONlittleוַיִּטְהָר׃vay/yit/HARand he was clean

    Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand he returnedאֶל־אִישׁel-ishto the man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהוּאhuheוְכׇל־מַחֲנֵהוּve/KHOL-ma/cha/NE/huand all his companyוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidהִנֵּה־נָאhin/NE-nabehold nowיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatאֵיןenthere is noאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץbe/KHOL-ha/A/retsin all the earthכִּיkibutאִם־בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלim-Be/yis/ra/ELonly in Israelוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowקַח־נָאkach-natake pleaseבְרָכָהve/ra/KHAa blessingמֵאֵתme/ETfromעַבְדֶּךָ׃av/DE/khayour servant

    And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesאֲשֶׁר־עָמַדְתִּיa/SHER-a/MAD/tiwhom I standלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himאִם־אֶקָּחim-ek/KACHif I takeוַיִּפְצַר־בּוֹvay/yif/TSAR-boand he urged himלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeוַיְמָאֵן׃vay/ma/ENand he refused

    But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanוָלֹאva/LOif notיֻתַּן־נָאyut/TAN-nalet be given pleaseלְעַבְדְּךָle/av/de/KHAfor your servantמַשָּׂאmas/SAa load ofצֶמֶד־פְּרָדִיםTSE/med-pe/ra/DIMa pair of mulesאֲדָמָהa/da/MAearthכִּיkiforלוֹא־יַעֲשֶׂהlo-ya/a/SEwill not makeעוֹדodany moreעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAyour servantעֹלָהo/LAa burnt offeringוָזֶבַחva/ZE/vachand sacrificeלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםle/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMto other godsכִּיkibutאִם־לַיהֹוָה׃im-la-Adonaionly to the LORD

    And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

    לַדָּבָרlad/da/VARin the matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיִסְלַחyis/LACHmay pardonיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְעַבְדֶּךָle/av/DE/khayour servantבְּבוֹאbe/VOwhen goesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordבֵית־רִמּוֹןvet-Rim/MONto the house of Rimmonלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺתle/hish/ta/cha/VOTto bow downשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereוְהוּאve/HUand heנִשְׁעָןnish/ANleansעַל־יָדִיal-ya/DIupon my handוְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֵיתִיve/hish/ta/cha/VE/tiand I bow downבֵּיתbetin the house ofרִמֹּןRim/MONRimmonבְּהִשְׁתַּחֲוָיָתִיbe/hish/ta/cha/va/YA/tiwhen I bow downבֵּיתbetin the house ofרִמֹּןRim/MONRimmonיִסְלַח־(נא)־יְהֹוָהyis/LACH-n-Adonaimay the LORD pardonלְעַבְדְּךָle/av/de/KHAyour servantבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin the matterהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himלֵךְlekhgoלְשָׁלוֹםle/sha/LOMin peaceוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhso he departedמֵאִתּוֹme/it/TOfrom himכִּבְרַת־אָרֶץ׃kiv/RAT-A/retsa little way

    And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגֵּיחֲזִיGe/cha/ZIGehaziנַעַרNA/arthe servant ofאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdחָשַׂךְcha/SAKHhas sparedאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordאֶת־נַעֲמָןet-Na/a/MANNaamanהָאֲרַמִּיha/A/ram/MIthe Arameanהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמִקַּחַתmik/KA/chatfrom takingמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOfrom his handאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־הֵבִיאet-a/SHER-he/VIwhat he broughtחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesכִּי־אִם־רַצְתִּיki-im-RATS/tisurely I will runאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוְלָקַחְתִּיve/la/kach/TIand I will takeמֵאִתּוֹme/it/TOfrom himמְאוּמָה׃me/U/maanything

    But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

21. 21

    וַיִּרְדֹּףvay/yir/DOFso pursuedגֵּיחֲזִיGe/cha/ZIGehaziאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanוַיִּרְאֶהvay/yir/Eand sawנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanרָץratsrunningאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand he got downמֵעַלme/ALfromהַמֶּרְכָּבָהham/mer/ka/VAthe chariotלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֲשָׁלוֹם׃ha/sha/LOMis it well

    So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordשְׁלָחַנִיshe/la/CHA/nihas sent meלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעַתָּהat/TAnowזֶהzejustבָּאוּBA/uhave comeאֵלַיe/LAYto meשְׁנֵי־נְעָרִיםshe/NE-ne/a/RIMtwo young menמֵהַרme/HARfrom the hill country ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsתְּנָה־נָּאte/NA-nagive pleaseלָהֶםla/HEMto themכִּכַּר־כֶּסֶףkik/KAR-KE/sefa talent of silverוּשְׁתֵּיush/TEand twoחֲלִפוֹתcha/li/FOTchanges ofבְּגָדִים׃be/ga/DIMgarments

    And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanהוֹאֵלho/ELbe pleased toקַחkachtakeכִּכָּרָיִםkik/ka/RA/yimtwo talentsוַיִּפְרׇץ־בּוֹvay/yif/ROTS-boand he pressed himוַיָּצַרvay/YA/tsarand he boundכִּכְּרַיִםkik/ke/RA/yimtwo talentsכֶּסֶףKE/sefof silverבִּשְׁנֵיbish/NEin twoחֲרִטִיםcha/ri/TIMbagsוּשְׁתֵּיush/TEand twoחֲלִפוֹתcha/li/FOTchanges ofבְּגָדִיםbe/ga/DIMgarmentsוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand he laid themאֶל־שְׁנֵיel-she/NEon two ofנְעָרָיוne/a/RAYVhis servantsוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they carried themלְפָנָיו׃le/fa/NAYVbefore him

    And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־הָעֹפֶלel-ha/O/felto the hillוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHhe took themמִיָּדָםmiy/ya/DAMout of their handsוַיִּפְקֹדvay/yif/KODand stored themבַּבָּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseוַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand he sent awayאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםet-ha/a/na/SHIMthe menוַיֵּלֵכוּ׃vay/ye/LE/khuand they went

    And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.

    וְהוּא־בָאve/HU-vaand he went inוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodאֶל־אֲדֹנָיוel-a/do/NAYVbefore his masterוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElisha(מאן)mn[מֵאַיִן]me/A/yinfrom whereגֵּחֲזִיGe/cha/ZIGehaziוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹא־הָלַךְlo-ha/LAKHdid not goעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAyour servantאָנֶהA/nehereוָאָנָה׃va/A/naor there

    But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.

    And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

    וְצָרַעַתve/tsa/RA/atand the leprosy ofנַעֲמָןNa/a/MANNaamanתִּדְבַּק־בְּךָtid/BAK-be/KHAshall cling to youוּבְזַרְעֲךָu/ve/zar/a/KHAand to your seedלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outמִלְּפָנָיוmil/le/fa/NAYVfrom before himמְצֹרָעme/tso/RAleprousכַּשָּׁלֶג׃kash/SHA/legas snow

    The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
