1. 1

   בְּיָמָיוin his daysעָלָהascendedנְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonוַיְהִי־לוֹand became hisיְהוֹיָקִיםJehoiakimעֶבֶדthe servant ofשָׁלֹשׁthreeשָׁנִיםyearsוַיָּשׇׁבand he returnedוַיִּמְרׇד־בּוֹ׃and he rebelled against him

   In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.

   וַיְשַׁלַּחand sentיְהֹוָהthe LORDבּוֹin itאֶת־גְּדוּדֵיthe marauding bands ofכַשְׂדִּיםthe Chaldeansוְאֶת־גְּדוּדֵיand the marauding bands ofאֲרָםSyriaוְאֵתandגְּדוּדֵיthe marauding bands ofמוֹאָבMoabוְאֵתandגְּדוּדֵיthe marauding bands ofבְנֵי־עַמּוֹןsons of Ammonוַיְשַׁלְּחֵםand he sent away themבִּיהוּדָהagainst Judahלְהַאֲבִידוֹto destroy itכִּדְבַרaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֶּרspokeבְּיַדin the hand ofעֲבָדָיוhis servantsהַנְּבִיאִים׃the prophets

   And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servants the prophets.

   אַךְbutעַל־פִּיaccording toיְהֹוָהthe LORDהָיְתָהwasבִּיהוּדָהagainst Judahלְהָסִירto remove themמֵעַלfrom uponפָּנָיוhis sightבְּחַטֹּאתfor the sins ofמְנַשֶּׁהManassehכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂה׃he did

   Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;

   וְגַםand alsoדַּם־הַנָּקִיblood of the innocent personאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁפָךְhe has shedוַיְמַלֵּאand he filledאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemדָּםbloodנָקִיblamelessוְלֹא־אָבָהand not was willingיְהֹוָהthe LORDלִסְלֹחַ׃to forgive

   And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

   וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofיְהוֹיָקִיםJehoiakimוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didהֲלֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

   Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

6. 6

   וַיִּשְׁכַּבand sleptיְהוֹיָקִיםJehoiakimעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignיְהוֹיָכִיןJehoiachinבְּנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

   So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

   וְלֹא־הֹסִיףand not he repeatedעוֹדany moreמֶלֶךְthe king ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptלָצֵאתto come forthמֵאַרְצוֹfrom his landכִּי־לָקַחbecause tookמֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonמִנַּחַלfrom the river ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptעַד־נְהַר־פְּרָתuntil river of Euphratesכֹּלallאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיְתָהwasלְמֶלֶךְto the king ofמִצְרָיִם׃Egypt

   And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

   בֶּן־שְׁמֹנֶה־עֶשְׂרֵהson of eighteenשָׁנָהyearsיְהוֹיָכִיןJehoiachinבְּמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוּשְׁלֹשָׁהand threeחֳדָשִׁיםmonthsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherנְחֻשְׁתָּאNehushtaבַת־אֶלְנָתָןthe daughter of Elnathanמִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃from Jerusalem

   Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

9. 9

   וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didאָבִיו׃his father

   And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.

10. 10

    בָּעֵתat the timeהַהִיאthat(עלה)[עָלוּ]come upעַבְדֵיservants ofנְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםJerusalemוַתָּבֹאand cameהָעִירthe cityבַּמָּצוֹר׃in the state of siege

    At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

11. 11

    וַיָּבֹאand cameנְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonעַל־הָעִירupon the cityוַעֲבָדָיוand his servantsצָרִיםare shutting upעָלֶיהָ׃upon it

    And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.

    וַיֵּצֵאand went outיְהוֹיָכִיןJehoiachinמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking of Judahעַל־מֶלֶךְagainst the king ofבָּבֶלBabylonהוּאheוְאִמּוֹand his motherוַעֲבָדָיוand his servantsוְשָׂרָיוand his princesוְסָרִיסָיוand his court officialsוַיִּקַּחand tookאֹתוֹhimמֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonבִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשְׁמֹנֶהeightלְמׇלְכוֹ׃of his reigning

    And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

    וַיּוֹצֵאand he carried outמִשָּׁםfrom thereאֶת־כׇּל־אוֹצְרוֹתall the treasures ofבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְאוֹצְרוֹתand the treasures ofבֵּיתthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוַיְקַצֵּץand he cut offאֶת־כׇּל־כְּלֵיall vessels ofהַזָּהָבthe goldאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהhe didשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלking of Israelבְּהֵיכַלin the temple ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

14. 14

    וְהִגְלָהand he took into exileאֶת־כׇּל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםall Jerusalemוְאֶת־כׇּל־הַשָּׂרִיםand all the princesוְאֵתandכׇּל־גִּבּוֹרֵיall the mighty men ofהַחַיִלvalor(עשרה)[עֲשֶׂרֶת]tensאֲלָפִיםthousandגּוֹלֶהexilesוְכׇל־הֶחָרָשׁand all craftsmanוְהַמַּסְגֵּרand the smithלֹאnotנִשְׁאַרremainedזוּלַתexceptדַּלַּתthe poorest ofעַם־הָאָרֶץ׃the people of the land

    And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.

15. 15

    וַיֶּגֶלand he took into exileאֶת־יְהוֹיָכִיןJehoiachinבָּבֶלָהinto Babylonוְאֶת־אֵםand mother ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְאֶת־נְשֵׁיand the wives andהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְאֶת־סָרִיסָיוand his officialsוְאֵתand(אולי)[אֵילֵי]the leaders ofהָאָרֶץthe landהוֹלִיךְhe ledגּוֹלָהexilesמִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםfrom Jerusalemבָּבֶלָה׃into Babylon

    And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

16. 16

    וְאֵתandכׇּל־אַנְשֵׁיall the men ofהַחַיִלvalorשִׁבְעַתsevenאֲלָפִיםthousandוְהֶחָרָשׁand the craftsmanוְהַמַּסְגֵּרand the smithאֶלֶףthousandהַכֹּלallגִּבּוֹרִיםmightyעֹשֵׂיdoers ofמִלְחָמָהwarוַיְבִיאֵםand he brought themמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonגּוֹלָהexilesבָּבֶלָה׃into Babylon

    And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

17. 17

    וַיַּמְלֵךְand he made kingמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonאֶת־מַתַּנְיָהMattaniahדֹדוֹhis uncleתַּחְתָּיוin his steadוַיַּסֵּבand he caused to go aroundאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameצִדְקִיָּהוּ׃Zedekiah

    And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18. 18

    בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִיםson of twentyוְאַחַתand oneשָׁנָהyearצִדְקִיָּהוּZedekiahבְמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוְאַחַת־עֶשְׂרֵהand elevenשָׁנָהyearsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis mother[חֲמוּטַל]Hamutalבַּת־יִרְמְיָהוּdaughter of Jeremiahמִלִּבְנָה׃from Libnah

    Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

19. 19

    וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didיְהוֹיָקִים׃Jehoiakim

    And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

20. 20

    כִּיforעַל־אַףthrough the anger ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהָיְתָהwasבִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםin Jerusalemוּבִיהוּדָהand Judahעַד־הִשְׁלִכוֹuntil threw heאֹתָםthemמֵעַלfrom uponפָּנָיוhis presenceוַיִּמְרֹדand he rebelledצִדְקִיָּהוּZedekiahבְּמֶלֶךְagainst the king ofבָּבֶל׃Babylon

    For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
