1. 1

   בֶּן־שְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהson of twelveשָׁנָהyearsמְנַשֶּׁהManassehבְמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוַחֲמִשִּׁיםand fiftyוְחָמֵשׁand fiveשָׁנָהyearsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherחֶפְצִי־בָהּ׃Hephzi-bah

   Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzi-bah.

2. 2

   וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּתוֹעֲבֹתaccording to the abominations ofהַגּוֹיִםthe nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichהוֹרִישׁcast outיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִפְּנֵיbecause ofבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

3. 3

   וַיָּשׇׁבand he returnedוַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־הַבָּמוֹתthe high placesאֲשֶׁרwhichאִבַּדhe had destroyedחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahאָבִיוhis fatherוַיָּקֶםand he set upמִזְבְּחֹתaltarsלַבַּעַלthe Baalוַיַּעַשׂand he madeאֲשֵׁרָהan Asherah poleכַּאֲשֶׁרasעָשָׂהhe didאַחְאָבAhabמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּand bowed himselfלְכׇל־צְבָאto all an army ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוַיַּעֲבֹדand he shall serveאֹתָם׃them

   For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

   וּבָנָהand he builtמִזְבְּחֹתaltarsבְּבֵיתin the house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםin Jerusalemאָשִׂיםshall I putאֶת־שְׁמִי׃my name

   And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

   וַיִּבֶןand builtמִזְבְּחוֹתaltarsלְכׇל־צְבָאto all an army ofהַשָּׁמָיִםthe heavensבִּשְׁתֵּיin twoחַצְרוֹתthe courtyards ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָה׃the house of the LORD

   And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

6. 6

   וְהֶעֱבִירand he caused to passאֶת־בְּנוֹhis sonבָּאֵשׁby fireוְעוֹנֵןand he practiced soothsayingוְנִחֵשׁand he practiced divinationוְעָשָׂהand he didאוֹבa familiar spiritוְיִדְּעֹנִיםand soothsayersהִרְבָּהmuchלַעֲשׂוֹתto doהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְהַכְעִיס׃to provoke

   And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

7. 7

   וַיָּשֶׂםand he setאֶת־פֶּסֶלan image ofהָאֲשֵׁרָהthe Asherah poleאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהhe didבַּבַּיִתin the houseאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־דָּוִדto Davidוְאֶל־שְׁלֹמֹהand Solomonבְנוֹhis sonבַּבַּיִתin the houseהַזֶּהthisוּבִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםand in JerusalemאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּחַרְתִּיI choseמִכֹּלof allשִׁבְטֵיtribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאָשִׂיםshall I putאֶת־שְׁמִיmy nameלְעוֹלָם׃forever

   And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

8. 8

   וְלֹאand notאֹסִיףI will addלְהָנִידto make wanderרֶגֶלa footיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמִן־הָאֲדָמָהfrom the groundאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַתִּיI gaveלַאֲבוֹתָםto their fathersרַקonlyאִם־יִשְׁמְרוּif they keepלַעֲשׂוֹתto doכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁרwhichצִוִּיתִיםI have commanded themוּלְכׇל־הַתּוֹרָהand to all the Lawאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהwhich commandedאֹתָםthemעַבְדִּיmy servantמֹשֶׁה׃Moses

   Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

9. 9

   וְלֹאand notשָׁמֵעוּthey listenedוַיַּתְעֵםand he led them astrayמְנַשֶּׁהManassehלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־הָרָעthat which is evilמִן־הַגּוֹיִםof the nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichהִשְׁמִידdestroyedיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִפְּנֵיbecause ofבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

10. 10

    וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּיַד־עֲבָדָיוin the hand of his servantsהַנְּבִיאִיםthe prophetsלֵאמֹר׃saying

    And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying,

11. 11

    יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהhe didמְנַשֶּׁהManassehמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking of Judahהַתֹּעֵבוֹתthe abominationsהָאֵלֶּהtheseהֵרַעhe has done wickedlyמִכֹּלof allאֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּwhich they didהָאֱמֹרִיthe Amoriteאֲשֶׁרwhichלְפָנָיוbefore himוַיַּחֲטִאand did causeגַם־אֶת־יְהוּדָהalso Judahבְּגִלּוּלָיו׃with his idols

    Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:

12. 12

    לָכֵןthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelהִנְנִיbehold Iמֵבִיאbringsרָעָהevilעַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםupon Jerusalemוִיהוּדָהand Judahאֲשֶׁרwhichכׇּל־[שֹׁמְעָהּ]all Shemaahite(שמעיו)תִּצַּלְנָהthey will tingleשְׁתֵּיtwoאׇזְנָיו׃his ears

    Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

13. 13

    וְנָטִיתִיand I will stretch outעַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםupon Jerusalemאֵת־קָוthe measuring line ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamariaוְאֶת־מִשְׁקֹלֶתand the leveling tool ofבֵּיתthe house ofאַחְאָבAhabוּמָחִיתִיand I will wipeאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemכַּאֲשֶׁר־יִמְחֶהas is wipedאֶת־הַצַּלַּחַתthe bowlמָחָהhe wipes it cleanוְהָפַךְand he turns it overעַל־פָּנֶיהָ׃upon its face

    And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.

14. 14

    וְנָטַשְׁתִּיand I will abandonאֵת־שְׁאֵרִיתremnant ofנַחֲלָתִיmy own inheritanceוּנְתַתִּיםand I will give themבְּיַדin the hand ofאֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesוְהָיוּthen they shall beלְבַזspoilוְלִמְשִׁסָּהand plunderלְכׇל־אֹיְבֵיהֶם׃to all their enemies

    And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

15. 15

    יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשׂוּthey didאֶת־הָרַעthe badבְּעֵינַיin my eyesוַיִּהְיוּand they wereמַכְעִסִיםprovoking to angerאֹתִיmeמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצְאוּwent forthאֲבוֹתָםtheir fathersמִמִּצְרַיִםout of Egyptוְעַדand untoהַיּוֹםthe dayהַזֶּה׃this

    Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.

16. 16

    וְגַםand alsoדָּםbloodנָקִיblamelessשָׁפַךְshedמְנַשֶּׁהManassehהַרְבֵּהmuchמְאֹדexceedinglyעַדuntilאֲשֶׁר־מִלֵּאwhich fulfilledאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemפֶּהmouthלָפֶהto mouthלְבַדaloneמֵחַטָּאתוֹfrom his sinאֲשֶׁרwhichהֶחֱטִיאcaused to sinאֶת־יְהוּדָהJudahלַעֲשׂוֹתto doהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

17. 17

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofמְנַשֶּׁהManassehוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didוְחַטָּאתוֹand his sinאֲשֶׁרwhichחָטָאhe has committedהֲלֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18. 18

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבand sleptמְנַשֶּׁהManassehעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרand was buriedבְּגַן־בֵּיתוֹin the garden of his houseבְּגַן־עֻזָּאin the garden of Uzzaוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignאָמוֹןAmonבְּנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

19. 19

    בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִיםson of twentyוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנָהyearsאָמוֹןAmonבְּמׇלְכוֹwhen he began to reignוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנִיםyearsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherמְשֻׁלֶּמֶתMeshullemethבַּת־חָרוּץdaughter of Haruzמִן־יׇטְבָה׃from Jotbah

    Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20. 20

    וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכַּאֲשֶׁרasעָשָׂהhe didמְנַשֶּׁהManassehאָבִיו׃his father

    And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.

21. 21

    וַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְin all the wayאֲשֶׁר־הָלַךְwhich wentאָבִיוhis fatherוַיַּעֲבֹדand he shall serveאֶת־הַגִּלֻּלִיםthe idolsאֲשֶׁרwhichעָבַדservedאָבִיוhis fatherוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּand bowed himselfלָהֶם׃to them

    And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:

22. 22

    וַיַּעֲזֹבand he shall forsakeאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאֲבֹתָיוhis fathersוְלֹאand notהָלַךְwentבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.

23. 23

    וַיִּקְשְׁרוּand they conspiredעַבְדֵי־אָמוֹןservants of Amonעָלָיוupon himוַיָּמִיתוּand they killedאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְthe kingבְּבֵיתוֹ׃in his house

    And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

24. 24

    וַיַּךְand he smoteעַם־הָאָרֶץthe people of the landאֵת־כׇּל־הַקֹּשְׁרִיםall the ones who had conspiredעַל־הַמֶּלֶךְupon the kingאָמוֹןAmonוַיַּמְלִיכוּand they made kingעַם־הָאָרֶץthe people of the landאֶת־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahבְנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

25. 25

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofאָמוֹןAmonאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהhe didהֲלֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26. 26

    וַיִּקְבֹּרand he buriedאֹתוֹhimבִּקְבֻרָתוֹin his graveבְּגַן־עֻזָּאin the garden of Uzzaוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahבְנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.
