   And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

   And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.

   And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

   And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

   And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

   וַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyאִישׁishmenמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodמִנֶּגֶדmin/NE/gedoppositeמֵרָחוֹקme/ra/CHOKat a distanceוּשְׁנֵיהֶםu/she/ne/HEMand the two of themעָמְדוּa/me/DUstoodעַל־הַיַּרְדֵּן׃al-Hay/yar/DENby the Jordan

   And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

8. 8

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֶת־אַדַּרְתּוֹet-ad/dar/TOhis cloakוַיִּגְלֹםvay/yig/LOMand rolled it upוַיַּכֶּהvay/yak/KEand he struckאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersוַיֵּחָצוּvay/ye/cha/TSUand they were dividedהֵנָּהHEN/nahereוָהֵנָּהva/HEN/naand thereוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand crossedשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthe two of themבֶּחָרָבָה׃be/cha/ra/VAon dry ground

   And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְעׇבְרָםkhe/ov/RAMwhen they had crossedוְאֵלִיָּהוּve/E/liy/YA/huand Elijahאָמַרa/MARsaidאֶל־אֱלִישָׁעel-E/li/SHAto Elishaשְׁאַלshe/ALaskמָהmawhatאֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּךְe/e/SE-lakhI shall do for youבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeאֶלָּקַחel/la/KACHI will be takenמֵעִמָּךְme/im/MAKHfrom youוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaוִיהִיvi/HIlet beנָאnapleaseפִּי־שְׁנַיִםpi-she/NA/yima double portionבְּרוּחֲךָbe/ru/cha/KHAof your spiritאֵלָי׃e/LAYupon me

   And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִקְשִׁיתָhik/SHI/tayou have made hardלִשְׁאוֹלlish/OLto askאִם־תִּרְאֶהim-tir/Eif you seeאֹתִיo/TImeלֻקָּחluk/KACHbeing takenמֵאִתָּךְme/it/TAKHfrom youיְהִי־לְךָye/HI-le/KHAit shall be to youכֵןkhensoוְאִם־אַיִןve/IM-A/yinbut if notלֹאlonotיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEit shall be

    And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהֵמָּהHEM/matheyהֹלְכִיםhol/KHIMwere going onהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוְדַבֵּרve/dab/BERand talkingוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרֶכֶב־אֵשׁRE/khev-esha chariot of fireוְסוּסֵיve/SU/seand horses ofאֵשׁeshfireוַיַּפְרִדוּvay/yaf/RI/duand separatedבֵּיןbenbetweenשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthe two of themוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahבַּסְעָרָהbas/a/RAin the whirlwindהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimto the heavens

    And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

    וֶאֱלִישָׁעVe/e/li/SHAand Elishaרֹאֶהro/Ewas seeingוְהוּאve/HUand heמְצַעֵקme/tsa/EKcrying outאָבִיa/VImy fatherאָבִיa/VImy fatherרֶכֶבRE/khevthe chariot ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּפָרָשָׁיוu/fa/ra/SHAYVand its horsemenוְלֹאve/LOand notרָאָהוּra/A/hudid he see himעוֹדodany moreוַיַּחֲזֵקvay/ya/cha/ZEKand he took holdבִּבְגָדָיוbiv/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיִּקְרָעֵםvay/yik/ra/EMand he tore themלִשְׁנַיִםlish/NA/yimin twoקְרָעִים׃ke/ra/IMpieces

    And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

13. 13

    וַיָּרֶםvay/YA/remand he took upאֶת־אַדֶּרֶתet-ad/DE/retthe cloak ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand went backוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodעַל־שְׂפַתal-se/FATby the bank ofהַיַּרְדֵּן׃hay/Yar/DENthe Jordan

    He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

14. 14

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־אַדֶּרֶתet-ad/DE/retthe cloak ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֲשֶׁר־נָפְלָהa/SHER-na/fe/LAthat fellמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himוַיַּכֶּהvay/yak/KEand he struckאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאַף־הוּאaf-huhe alsoוַיַּכֶּהvay/yak/KEand he struckאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersוַיֵּחָצוּvay/ye/cha/TSUand they partedהֵנָּהHEN/nahereוָהֵנָּהva/HEN/naand thereוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand crossedאֱלִישָׁע׃E/li/SHAElisha

    And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

    וַיִּרְאֻהוּvay/yir/U/huand they saw himבְנֵי־הַנְּבִיאִיםve/NE-han/ne/vi/IMthe sons of the prophetsאֲשֶׁר־בִּירִיחוֹa/SHER-Bi/ri/CHOwho were at Jerichoמִנֶּגֶדmin/NE/gedoppositeוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidנָחָהNA/charestsרוּחַRU/achthe spirit ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahעַל־אֱלִישָׁעal-E/li/SHAupon Elishaוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־לוֹvay/yish/ta/cha/VU-loand they bowed down to himאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the ground

    And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּה־נָאhin/NE-nabehold nowיֵשׁ־אֶת־עֲבָדֶיךָyesh-et-a/va/DE/khathere are with your servantsחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenבְּנֵי־חַיִלbe/NE-CHA/yilsons of valorיֵלְכוּyel/KHUlet goנָאnapleaseוִיבַקְשׁוּvi/vak/SHUand seekאֶת־אֲדֹנֶיךָet-a/do/NE/khayour masterפֶּן־נְשָׂאוֹpen-ne/sa/Olest has taken him upרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּשְׁלִכֵהוּvay/yash/li/KHE/huand cast himבְּאַחַדbe/a/CHADon one ofהֶהָרִיםhe/ha/RIMthe mountainsאוֹoorבְּאַחַתbe/a/CHATinto one of[הַגֵּיאָיוֹת]hag/ge/a/YOTthe valleysוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonotתִשְׁלָחוּ׃tish/LA/chuyou shall send

    And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

17. 17

    וַיִּפְצְרוּ־בוֹvay/yif/tse/RU-voand they pressed himעַד־בֹּשׁad-boshuntil ashamedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁלָחוּshe/LA/chusendוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUso they sentחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyאִישׁishmenוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand they soughtשְׁלֹשָׁה־יָמִיםshe/lo/SHA-ya/MIMthree daysוְלֹאve/LObut notמְצָאֻהוּ׃me/tsa/U/hufound him

    And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

18. 18

    וַיָּשֻׁבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand they came backאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְהוּאve/HUand heיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas stayingבִּירִיחוֹbI/ri/CHOat Jerichoוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themהֲלֹא־אָמַרְתִּיha/LO-a/MAR/tidid I not sayאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youאַל־תֵּלֵכוּ׃al-te/LE/khudo not go

    And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֶל־אֱלִישָׁעel-E/li/SHAto Elishaהִנֵּה־נָאhin/NE-nabehold nowמוֹשַׁבmo/SHAVthe situation ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityטוֹבtovis goodכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordרֹאֶהro/Eseesוְהַמַּיִםve/ham/MA/yimand the watersרָעִיםra/IMare badוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landמְשַׁכָּלֶת׃me/shak/KA/letmiscarries

    And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקְחוּ־לִיke/CHU-libring meצְלֹחִיתtse/lo/CHITa bowlחֲדָשָׁהcha/da/SHAnewוְשִׂימוּve/SI/muand putשָׁםshamthereמֶלַחME/lachsaltוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they broughtאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

21. 21

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outאֶל־מוֹצָאel-mo/TSAto the spring ofהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersוַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־שָׁםvay/yash/LEKH-shamand threw thereמֶלַחME/lachsaltוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDרִפִּאתִיrip/PI/tiI have healedלַמַּיִםlam/MA/yimthe watersהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEthere shall not beמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעוֹדodany moreמָוֶתMA/vetdeathוּמְשַׁכָּלֶת׃u/me/shak/KA/letor miscarriage

    And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

22. 22

    וַיֵּרָפוּvay/ye/ra/FUand were healedהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersעַדaduntilהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofאֱלִישָׁעE/li/SHAElishaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֵּר׃dib/BERhe spoke

    So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

23. 23

    וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereבֵּית־אֵלbet-Elto Beth-elוְהוּאve/HUand heעֹלֶהo/LEwas going upבַדֶּרֶךְvad/DE/rekhon the wayוּנְעָרִיםu/ne/a/RIMand boysקְטַנִּיםke/tan/NIMsmallיָצְאוּya/tse/Ucame outמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRfrom the cityוַיִּתְקַלְּסוּ־בוֹvay/yit/kal/le/SU-voand they jeered at himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himעֲלֵהa/LEgo upקֵרֵחַke/RE/achbaldheadעֲלֵהa/LEgo upקֵרֵחַ׃ke/RE/achbaldhead

    And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he turnedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVbehind himוַיִּרְאֵםvay/yir/EMand he saw themוַיְקַלְלֵםvay/kal/LEMand he cursed themבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתֵּצֶאנָהvat/te/TSE/naand came outשְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwoדֻּבִּיםdub/BIMbearsמִן־הַיַּעַרmin-hay/YA/arfrom the forestוַתְּבַקַּעְנָהvat/te/vak/KA/naand mauledמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoיְלָדִים׃ye/la/DIMchildren

    And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

25. 25

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאֶל־הַרel-harto the mountain ofהַכַּרְמֶלHak/kar/MELCarmelוּמִשָּׁםu/mish/SHAMand from thereשָׁבshavhe returnedשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Shom/RONto Samaria

    And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
