   And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֶת־אֶלְיָקִיםet-El/ya/KIMEliakimאֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַבַּיִתa/SHER-al-hab/BA/yitwho was over the houseוְשֶׁבְנָאve/Shev/NAand Shebnaהַסֹּפֵרhas/so/FERthe scribeוְאֵתve/ETandזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsמִתְכַּסִּיםmit/kas/SIMcoveredבַּשַּׂקִּיםbas/sak/KIMwith sackclothאֶל־יְשַׁעְיָהוּel-Ye/sha/YA/huto Isaiahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetבֶּן־אָמוֹץ׃ben-A/MOTSthe son of Amoz

   And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahיוֹם־צָרָהyom-tsa/RAa day of distressוְתוֹכֵחָהve/to/khe/CHAand rebukeוּנְאָצָהu/ne/a/TSAand contemptהַיּוֹםhay/YOMis dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkiforבָאוּVA/uhave comeבָנִיםva/NIMchildrenעַד־מַשְׁבֵּרad-mash/BERto the birthוְכֹחַve/KHO/achand strengthאַיִןA/yinthere is notלְלֵדָה׃le/le/DAto bring forth

   And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

   It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.

   So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huIsaiahכֹּהkothusתֹאמְרוּןto/me/RUNyou shall sayאֶל־אֲדֹנֵיכֶםel-a/do/ne/KHEMto your masterכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAbe not afraidמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEofהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/tayou have heardאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichגִּדְּפוּgid/de/FUhave blasphemedנַעֲרֵיna/a/REthe servants ofמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaאֹתִי׃o/TIMe

   And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

   הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold I amנֹתֵןno/TENputtingבּוֹboin himרוּחַRU/acha spiritוְשָׁמַעve/sha/MAand he shall hearשְׁמוּעָהshe/mu/Aa rumorוְשָׁבve/SHAVand returnלְאַרְצוֹle/ar/TSOto his landוְהִפַּלְתִּיוve/hip/pal/TIVand I will make him fallבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revby the swordבְּאַרְצוֹ׃be/ar/TSOin his land

   Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

   וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovso returnedרַבְשָׁקֵהRav/sha/KERabshakehוַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundאֶת־מֶלֶךְet-ME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaנִלְחָםnil/CHAMfightingעַל־לִבְנָהal-Liv/NAagainst Libnahכִּיkiforשָׁמַעsha/MAhe had heardכִּיkithatנָסַעna/SAhe had departedמִלָּכִישׁ׃mil/La/KHISHfrom Lachish

   So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand he heardאֶל־תִּרְהָקָהel-Tir/HA/kaconcerning Tirhakahמֶלֶךְ־כּוּשׁME/lekh-Kushthe king of Cushלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָצָאya/TSAhe has come outלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand againוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,

    כֹּהkothusתֹאמְרוּןto/me/RUNyou shall sayאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAthe king of Judahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאַל־יַשִּׁאֲךָal-yash/shi/a/KHAlet not deceive youאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאַתָּהat/TAyouבֹּטֵחַbo/TE/achare trustingבּוֹboin Himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotתִנָּתֵןtin/na/TENshall be givenיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּר׃Ash/SHURAssyria

    Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַתָּהat/TAyouשָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/tayou have heardאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatעָשׂוּa/SUhave doneמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaלְכׇל־הָאֲרָצוֹתle/KHOL-ha/a/ra/TSOTto all the landsלְהַחֲרִימָםle/ha/cha/ri/MAMdevoting them to destructionוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youתִּנָּצֵל׃tin/na/TSELwill be delivered

    Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

    הַהִצִּילוּha/hits/TSI/luhave deliveredאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe gods ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomשִׁחֲתוּshi/cha/TUdestroyedאֲבוֹתַיa/vo/TAYmy fathersאֶת־גּוֹזָןet-Go/ZANGozanוְאֶת־חָרָןve/ET-cha/RANand Haranוְרֶצֶףve/RE/tsefand Rezephוּבְנֵי־עֶדֶןu/ve/NE-E/denand the children of Edenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבִּתְלַאשָּׂר׃Bit/la/SARin Telassar

    Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?

    אַיּוֹay/YOwhere isמֶלֶךְ־חֲמָתME/lekh-Cha/MATthe king of Hamathוּמֶלֶךְu/ME/lekhand the king ofאַרְפָּדAr/PADArpadוּמֶלֶךְu/ME/lekhand the king ofלָעִירla/IRof the city ofסְפַרְוָיִםSe/far/VA/yimSepharvaimהֵנַעHe/NAHenaוְעִוָּה׃ve/Iv/VAand Ivah

    Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?

14. 14

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahאֶת־הַסְּפָרִיםet-has/se/fa/RIMthe lettersמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMthe messengersוַיִּקְרָאֵםvay/yik/ra/EMand he read themוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upבֵּיתbetto the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּפְרְשֵׂהוּvay/yif/re/SE/huand spread itחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

    וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand he prayedחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVenthroned onהַכְּרֻבִיםhak/ke/ru/VIMthe cherubimאַתָּה־הוּאat/TA-huYou are Heהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְבַדְּךָle/vad/de/KHAYou aloneלְכֹלle/KHOLof allמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthאַתָּהat/TAYouעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tahave madeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃ve/ET-ha/A/retsand the earth

    And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

    הַטֵּהhat/TEinclineיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאׇזְנְךָoz/ne/KHAYour earוּשְׁמָעu/she/MAand hearפְּקַחpe/KACHopenיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khaYour eyesוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand seeוּשְׁמַעu/she/MAand hearאֵת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofסַנְחֵרִיבSan/che/RIVSennacheribאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשְׁלָחוֹshe/la/CHOhe has sent himלְחָרֵףle/cha/REFto tauntאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodחָי׃chayliving

    LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

    אׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDהֶחֱרִיבוּhe/che/RI/vuhave laid wasteמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaאֶת־הַגּוֹיִםet-hag/go/YIMthe nationsוְאֶת־אַרְצָם׃ve/ET-ar/TSAMand their land

    Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,

18. 18

    וְנָתְנוּve/na/te/NUand have castאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיהֶםet-e/lo/he/HEMtheir godsבָּאֵשׁba/ESHinto the fireכִּיkiforלֹאlonotאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMgodsהֵמָּהHEM/mawere theyכִּיkibutאִם־מַעֲשֵׂהim-ma/a/SEonly the work ofיְדֵי־אָדָםye/DE-a/DAMthe hands of manעֵץetswoodוָאֶבֶןva/E/venand stoneוַיְאַבְּדוּם׃vay/ab/be/DUMso they have destroyed them

    And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godהוֹשִׁיעֵנוּho/shi/E/nusave usנָאnapleaseמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOout of his handוְיֵדְעוּve/yed/Uthat may knowכׇּל־מַמְלְכוֹתkol-mam/le/KHOTall the kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthכִּיkithatאַתָּהat/TAYouיְהֹוָהAdonaiare the LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְבַדֶּךָ׃le/vad/DE/khaalone

    Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huIsaiahבֶן־אָמוֹץven-A/MOTSthe son of Amozאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatהִתְפַּלַּלְתָּhit/pal/LAL/tayou have prayedאֵלַיe/LAYto Meאֶל־סַנְחֵרִבel-San/che/RIVconcerning Sennacheribמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaשָׁמָעְתִּי׃sha/MA/tiI have heard

    Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

    זֶהzethisהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERthat has spokenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעָלָיוa/LAYVconcerning himבָּזָהba/ZAhas despisedלְךָle/KHAyouלָעֲגָהla/a/GAhas mockedלְךָle/KHAyouבְּתוּלַתbe/tu/LATthe virginבַּת־צִיּוֹןbat-Tsiy/YONdaughter of Zionאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khabehind youרֹאשׁroshheadהֵנִיעָהhe/NI/ahas shakenבַּתbatthe daughter ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

22. 22

    אֶת־מִיet-miwhomחֵרַפְתָּche/RAF/tahave you tauntedוְגִדַּפְתָּve/gid/DAF/taand blasphemedוְעַל־מִיve/AL-miand against whomהֲרִימוֹתָha/ri/MO/tahave you raisedקּוֹלkolvoiceוַתִּשָּׂאvat/tis/SAand liftedמָרוֹםma/ROMon highעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesעַל־קְדוֹשׁal-Ke/DOSHagainst the Holy One ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

    בְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofמַלְאָכֶיךָmal/a/KHE/khayour messengersחֵרַפְתָּche/RAF/tayou have tauntedאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand you have said(ברכב)varakhav[בְּרֹב]be/ROVwith the multitude ofרִכְבִּיrikh/BImy chariotsאֲנִיa/NIIעָלִיתִיa/LI/tihave come upמְרוֹםme/ROMto the height ofהָרִיםha/RIMmountainsיַרְכְּתֵיyar/ke/TEthe recesses ofלְבָנוֹןLe/va/NONLebanonוְאֶכְרֹתve/ekh/ROTand I will cut downקוֹמַתko/MATthe height ofאֲרָזָיוa/ra/ZAYVits cedarsמִבְחוֹרmiv/CHORthe choicest ofבְּרֹשָׁיוbe/ro/SHAYVits cypressesוְאָבוֹאָהve/a/VO/aand I will enterמְלוֹןme/LONthe lodge ofקִצֹּהkits/TSOits farthestיַעַרYA/arthe forest ofכַּרְמִלּוֹ׃kar/mil/LOits fruitful land

    By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

    אֲנִיa/NIIקַרְתִּיKAR/tidugוְשָׁתִיתִיve/sha/TI/tiand drunkמַיִםMA/yimwaterזָרִיםza/RIMforeignוְאַחְרִבve/ach/RIVand I will dry upבְּכַף־פְּעָמַיbe/KHAF-pe/a/MAYwith the sole of my feetכֹּלkolallיְאֹרֵיye/o/REthe streams ofמָצוֹר׃ma/TSORdefense

    I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.

    הֲלֹא־שָׁמַעְתָּha/LO-sha/MA/tahave you not heardלְמֵרָחוֹקle/me/ra/CHOKlong agoאֹתָהּo/TAitעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI didלְמִימֵיle/MI/mefrom days ofקֶדֶםKE/demoldוִיצַרְתִּיהָvi/tsar/TI/haand I formed itעַתָּהat/TAnowהֲבֵיאתִיהָha/ve/TI/haI have brought it aboutוּתְהִיu/te/HIthat you should beלַהְשׁוֹתlah/SHOTto lay wasteגַּלִּיםgal/LIMinto heapsנִצִּיםnits/TSIMruinousעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesבְּצֻרוֹת׃be/tsu/ROTfortified

    Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

    וְיֹשְׁבֵיהֶןve/yosh/ve/HENand their inhabitantsקִצְרֵי־יָדkits/RE-yadshort of handחַתּוּCHAT/tuwere dismayedוַיֵּבֹשׁוּvay/ye/VO/shuand put to shameהָיוּha/YUthey wereעֵשֶׂבE/sevthe grass ofשָׂדֶהsa/DEthe fieldוִירַקVI/rakand the green ofדֶּשֶׁאDE/sheherbחֲצִירcha/TSIRthe grass ofגַּגּוֹתgag/GOTthe housetopsוּשְׁדֵפָהu/she/de/FAand blightedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeקָמָה׃KA/mastanding grain

    Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

    וְשִׁבְתְּךָve/shiv/te/KHAand your abodeוְצֵאתְךָve/tse/te/KHAand your going outוּבֹאֲךָu/vo/a/KHAand your coming inיָדָעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowוְאֵתve/ETandהִתְרַגֶּזְךָhit/rag/gez/KHAyour rageאֵלָי׃e/LAYagainst Me

    But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

    יַעַןYA/anbecauseהִתְרַגֶּזְךָhit/rag/gez/KHAyour ragingאֵלַיe/LAYagainst Meוְשַׁאֲנַנְךָve/sha/a/nan/KHAand your arroganceעָלָהa/LAhas come upבְאׇזְנָיve/oz/NAYinto My earsוְשַׂמְתִּיve/sam/TII will putחַחִיcha/CHIMy hookבְּאַפֶּךָbe/ap/PE/khain your noseוּמִתְגִּיu/mit/GIand My bridleבִּשְׂפָתֶיךָbis/fa/TE/khain your lipsוַהֲשִׁבֹתִיךָva/ha/shi/vo/TI/khaand I will turn you backבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתָa/SHER-BA/tathat you cameבָּהּ׃baby it

    Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

    וְזֶה־לְּךָve/ZE-le/KHAand this shall be to youהָאוֹתha/OTthe signאָכוֹלa/KHOLeatהַשָּׁנָהhash/sha/NAthis yearסָפִיחַsa/FI/achwhat grows of itselfוּבַשָּׁנָהu/vash/sha/NAand in the yearהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITthe secondסָחִישׁsa/CHISHwhat springs from thatוּבַשָּׁנָהu/vash/sha/NAand in the yearהַשְּׁלִישִׁיתhash/she/li/SHITthe thirdזִרְעוּzir/Usowוְקִצְרוּve/kits/RUand reapוְנִטְעוּve/nit/Uand plantכְרָמִיםkhe/ra/MIMvineyardsוְאִכְלוּve/ikh/LUand eatפִרְיָם׃fir/YAMtheir fruit

    And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.

30. 30

    וְיָסְפָהve/ya/se/FAand shall againפְּלֵיטַתpe/le/TATthe escaped ofבֵּית־יְהוּדָהbet-Ye/hu/DAthe house of Judahהַנִּשְׁאָרָהhan/nish/a/RAthat is leftשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootלְמָטָּהle/MAT/tadownwardוְעָשָׂהve/a/SAand bearפְרִיfe/RIfruitלְמָעְלָה׃le/MA/laupward

    And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

31. 31

    כִּיkiforמִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemתֵּצֵאte/TSEshall go outשְׁאֵרִיתshe/e/RITa remnantוּפְלֵיטָהu/fe/le/TAand survivorsמֵהַרme/HARfrom MountצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionקִנְאַתkin/ATthe zeal ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORD[צְבָאוֹת]tse/va/OTof hostsתַּעֲשֶׂה־זֹּאת׃ta/a/SE-zotwill do this

    For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

32. 32

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhconcerning the king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaלֹאlonotיָבֹאya/VOshall he comeאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRinto cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְלֹא־יוֹרֶהve/LO-yo/REnor shootשָׁםshamthereחֵץchetsan arrowוְלֹא־יְקַדְּמֶנָּהve/LO-ye/kad/de/MEN/nanor come before itמָגֵןma/GENwith shieldוְלֹא־יִשְׁפֹּךְve/LO-yish/POKHnor cast upעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst itסֹלְלָה׃sol/LAa mound

    Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

33. 33

    בַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayאֲשֶׁר־יָבֹאa/SHER-ya/VOthat he cameבָּהּbaby itיָשׁוּבya/SHUVhe shall returnוְאֶל־הָעִירve/EL-ha/IRand into cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלֹאlonotיָבֹאya/VOhe shall comeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

34. 34

    וְגַנּוֹתִיve/gan/no/TIand I will defendאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRcityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְהוֹשִׁיעָהּle/ho/shi/Ato save itלְמַעֲנִיle/ma/a/NIfor My own sakeוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand for the sake ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַבְדִּי׃av/DIMy servant

    For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEthat went outמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckבְּמַחֲנֵהbe/ma/cha/NEin the camp ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaמֵאָהme/Aa hundredשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMeightyוַחֲמִשָּׁהva/cha/mish/SHAand fiveאָלֶףA/lefthousandוַיַּשְׁכִּימוּvay/yash/KI/muand when they rose earlyבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themפְּגָרִיםpe/ga/RIMcorpsesמֵתִים׃me/TIMdead

    And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

36. 36

    וַיִּסַּעvay/yis/SAso departedוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand returnedסַנְחֵרִיבSan/che/RIVSennacheribמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltבְּנִינְוֵה׃be/Ni/ne/VEat Nineveh

    So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהוּאhuheמִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהmish/ta/cha/VEwas worshipingבֵּיתbetin the house ofנִסְרֹךְNis/ROKHNisrochאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis godוְאַדְרַמֶּלֶךְve/Ad/ram/ME/lekhand Adrammelechוְשַׂרְאֶצֶרve/Sar/E/tserand Sharezer[בָּנָיו]ba/NAYVhis sonsהִכֻּהוּhik/KU/hustruck himבַחֶרֶבva/CHE/revwith the swordוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyנִמְלְטוּnim/le/TUescaped toאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofאֲרָרָטA/ra/RATAraratוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedאֵסַר־חַדֹּןE/SAR-chad/DONEsar-haddonבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.
