   Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

   Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

   And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

   הוּאhuheהֵסִירhe/SIRremovedאֶת־הַבָּמוֹתet-hab/ba/MOTthe high placesוְשִׁבַּרve/shib/BARand brokeאֶת־הַמַּצֵּבֹתet-ham/mats/tse/VOTthe pillarsוְכָרַתve/kha/RATand cut downאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרָהet-Ha/a/she/RAthe Asherahוְכִתַּתve/khit/TATand crushedנְחַשׁne/CHASHthe serpent ofהַנְּחֹשֶׁתhan/ne/CHO/shetbronzeאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAthat had madeמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesכִּיkiforעַד־הַיָּמִיםad-hay/ya/MIMuntil daysהָהֵמָּהha/HEM/mathoseהָיוּha/YUhad beenבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelמְקַטְּרִיםme/kat/te/RIMburning incenseלוֹloto itוַיִּקְרָא־לוֹvay/yik/RA-loand he called itנְחֻשְׁתָּן׃Ne/chush/TANNehushtan

   He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

   בַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDאֱלֹהֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלe/lo/HE-Yis/ra/ELGod of Israelבָּטָחba/TACHhe trustedוְאַחֲרָיוve/a/cha/RAYVso that after himלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notכָמֹהוּkha/MO/hulike himבְּכֹלbe/KHOLamong allמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERnor whoהָיוּha/YUwereלְפָנָיו׃le/fa/NAYVbefore him

   He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

   וַיִּדְבַּקvay/yid/BAKand he clungבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaito the LORDלֹא־סָרlo-sarhe did not departמֵאַחֲרָיוme/a/cha/RAYVfrom following Himוַיִּשְׁמֹרvay/yish/MORand keptמִצְוֺתָיוmits/vo/TAYVHis commandmentsאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat commandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃et-Mo/SHEMoses

   For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand wasיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִמּוֹim/MOwith himבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵאa/SHER-ye/TSEthat he went out toיַשְׂכִּילyas/KILhe prosperedוַיִּמְרֹדvay/yim/RODand he rebelledבְּמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרbe/ME/lekh-ash/SHURagainst the king of Assyriaוְלֹאve/LOand notעֲבָדוֹ׃a/va/DOserved him

   And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

   הוּא־הִכָּהhu-hik/KAhe struckאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםet-Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesעַד־עַזָּהad-Az/ZAas far as Gazaוְאֶת־גְּבוּלֶיהָve/ET-ge/vu/LE/haand its territoriesמִמִּגְדַּלmim/mig/DALfrom the tower ofנוֹצְרִיםnots/RIMwatchmenעַד־עִירad-irto the city ofמִבְצָר׃miv/TSARfortress

   He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

   And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

    וַיִּלְכְּדֻהָvay/yil/ke/DU/haand they took itמִקְצֵהmik/TSEat the end ofשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsבִּשְׁנַת־שֵׁשׁbish/NAT-sheshin the year sixלְחִזְקִיָּהle/Chiz/kiy/YAof Hezekiahהִיאhithat isשְׁנַת־תֵּשַׁעshe/NAT-TE/shathe year nineלְהוֹשֵׁעַle/Ho/SHE/aof HosheaמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelנִלְכְּדָהnil/ke/DAwas takenשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Shom/RONSamaria

    And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

    וַיֶּגֶלvay/YE/geland carried awayמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelאַשּׁוּרָהAsh/SHU/rato Assyriaוַיַּנְחֵםvay/yan/CHEMand put themבַּחְלַחBach/LACHin Halahוּבְחָבוֹרu/ve/Cha/VORand on the Haborנְהַרne/HARthe river ofגּוֹזָןGo/ZANGozanוְעָרֵיve/a/REand the cities ofמָדָי׃Ma/DAYthe Medes

    And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

    עַלalbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־שָׁמְעוּlo-sha/me/Uthey did not listen toבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand they transgressedאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹet-be/ri/TOHis covenantאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Udid they listenוְלֹאve/LOand notעָשׂוּ׃a/SUdo it

    Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

    וּבְאַרְבַּע־עֶשְׂרֵהu/ve/ar/BA-es/REand on the fourteenthשָׁנָהsha/NAyearלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhof kingחִזְקִיָּהChiz/kiy/YAHezekiahעָלָהa/LAcame upסַנְחֵרִיבSan/che/RIVSennacheribמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaעַלalagainstכׇּל־עָרֵיkol-a/REall the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahהַבְּצֻרוֹתhab/be/tsu/ROTthe fortifiedוַיִּתְפְּשֵׂם׃vay/yit/pe/SEMand took them

    Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentחִזְקִיָּהChiz/kiy/YAHezekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAthe king of Judahאֶל־מֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרel-ME/lekh-ash/SHURto the king of Assyriaלָכִישָׁהla/KHI/shato Lachishלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tiI have sinnedשׁוּבshuvturn backמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־תִּתֵּןet-a/SHER-tit/TENwhat you putעָלַיa/LAYupon meאֶשָּׂאes/SAI will bearוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand imposedמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaעַל־חִזְקִיָּהal-Chiz/kiy/YAon Hezekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAthe king of Judahשְׁלֹשׁshe/LOSHthreeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredכִּכַּר־כֶּסֶףkik/KAR-KE/seftalents of silverוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםu/she/lo/SHIMand thirtyכִּכַּרkik/KARtalents ofזָהָב׃za/HAVgold

    And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

    וַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveחִזְקִיָּהChiz/kiy/YAHezekiahאֶת־כׇּל־הַכֶּסֶףet-kol-hak/KE/sefall the silverהַנִּמְצָאhan/nim/TSAthat was foundבֵית־יְהֹוָהvet-Adonaiin the house of the LORDוּבְאֹצְרוֹתu/ve/ots/ROTand in the treasuries ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

    בָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatקִצַּץkits/TSATScut offחִזְקִיָּהChiz/kiy/YAHezekiahאֶת־דַּלְתוֹתet-dal/TOTthe doors ofהֵיכַלhe/KHALthe temple ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְאֶת־הָאֹמְנוֹתve/ET-ha/om/NOTand the doorpostsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִפָּהtsip/PAhad overlaidחִזְקִיָּהChiz/kiy/YAHezekiahמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand he gave themלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the king ofאַשּׁוּר׃Ash/SHURAssyria

    At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaאֶת־תַּרְתָּןet-Tar/TANTartanוְאֶת־רַב־סָרִיסve/ET-rav-sa/RISand Rabsarisוְאֶת־רַבְשָׁקֵהve/ET-rav/sha/KEand Rabshakehמִן־לָכִישׁmin-La/KHISHfrom Lachishאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto kingחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahבְּחֵילbe/CHELwith an armyכָּבֵדka/VEDgreatיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they went upוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they went upוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodבִּתְעָלַתbit/a/LATby the aqueduct ofהַבְּרֵכָהhab/be/re/KHAthe poolהָעֶלְיוֹנָהha/el/yo/NAthe upperאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבִּמְסִלַּתbim/sil/LATon the highway ofשְׂדֵהse/DEthe field ofכֹבֵס׃kho/VESthe fuller

    And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

    וַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand came outאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֶלְיָקִיםEl/ya/KIMEliakimבֶּן־חִלְקִיָּהוּben-Chil/kiy/YA/huthe son of Hilkiahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wasעַל־הַבָּיִתal-hab/BA/yitover the houseוְשֶׁבְנָהve/Shev/NAand Shebnaהַסֹּפֵרhas/so/FERthe scribeוְיוֹאָחve/Yo/ACHand Joahבֶּן־אָסָףben-A/SAFthe son of Asaphהַמַּזְכִּיר׃ham/maz/KIRthe recorder

    And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themרַבְשָׁקֵהRav/sha/KERabshakehאִמְרוּ־נָאim/RU-nasay pleaseאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaמָהmawhatהַבִּטָּחוֹןhab/bit/ta/CHONthe confidenceהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whichבָּטָחְתָּ׃ba/TACH/tayou trust

    And Rab-shakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

20. 20

    אָמַרְתָּa/MAR/tayou have saidאַךְ־דְּבַר־שְׂפָתַיִםakh-de/VAR-se/fa/TA/yimonly a word of the lipsעֵצָהe/TSAcounselוּגְבוּרָהu/ge/vu/RAand strengthלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAfor warעַתָּהat/TAnowעַל־מִיal-mion whomבָטַחְתָּva/TACH/tahave you trustedכִּיkithatמָרַדְתָּma/RAD/tayou have rebelledבִּי׃biagainst me

    Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

    עַתָּהat/TAnowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָטַחְתָּva/TACH/tayou trustלְּךָle/KHAyourselfעַל־מִשְׁעֶנֶתal-mish/E/netupon the staff ofהַקָּנֶהhak/ka/NEthe reedהָרָצוּץha/ra/TSUTSthe crushedהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַל־מִצְרַיִםal-Mits/RA/yimupon Egyptאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִסָּמֵךְyis/sa/MEKHleansאִישׁisha manעָלָיוa/LAYVon itוּבָאu/VAit will goבְכַפּוֹve/khap/POinto his palmוּנְקָבָהּu/ne/ka/VAand pierce itכֵּןkenthusפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptלְכׇל־הַבֹּטְחִיםle/KHOL-hab/bot/CHIMto all who trustעָלָיו׃a/LAYVin him

    Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

    וְכִי־תֹאמְרוּןve/KHI-to/me/RUNand if you sayאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaiin the LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godבָּטָחְנוּba/TACH/nuwe trustהֲלוֹא־הוּאha/LO-huis it not Heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseהֵסִירhe/SIRhas removedחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahאֶת־בָּמֹתָיוet-ba/mo/TAYVHis high placesוְאֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָיוve/ET-miz/be/cho/TAYVand His altarsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand has saidלִיהוּדָהlI/hu/DAto Judahוְלִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםve/Li/ru/sha/LA/yimand to Jerusalemלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתִּשְׁתַּחֲווּtish/ta/cha/VUyou shall worshipבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃bI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalem

    But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִתְעָרֶבhit/A/revmake a wagerנָאnapleaseאֶת־אֲדֹנִיet-a/do/NIwith my masterאֶת־מֶלֶךְet-ME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaוְאֶתְּנָהve/et/te/NAand I will giveלְךָle/KHAyouאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimtwo thousandסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesאִם־תּוּכַלim-tu/KHALif you are ableלָתֶתLA/tetto putלְךָle/KHAon your partרֹכְבִיםrokh/VIMridersעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMupon them

    Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

    וְאֵיךְve/EKHhow thenתָּשִׁיבta/SHIVwill you turn backאֵת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofפַחַתfa/CHATa governorאַחַדa/CHADone ofעַבְדֵיav/DEthe servants ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterהַקְּטַנִּיםhak/ke/tan/NIMthe leastוַתִּבְטַחvat/tiv/TACHand you trustלְךָle/KHAyourselfעַל־מִצְרַיִםal-Mits/RA/yimupon Egyptלְרֶכֶבle/RE/khevfor chariotsוּלְפָרָשִׁים׃u/le/fa/ra/SHIMand for horsemen

    How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

25. 25

    עַתָּהat/TAnowהֲמִבַּלְעֲדֵיha/mib/bal/a/DEis it withoutיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעָלִיתִיa/LI/tihave I come upעַל־הַמָּקוֹםal-ham/ma/KOMagainst placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהַשְׁחִתוֹle/hash/chi/TOto destroy itיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאָמַרa/MARsaidאֵלַיe/LAYto meעֲלֵהa/LEgo upעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsagainst landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ׃ve/hash/chi/TAand destroy it

    Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

    Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themרַבְשָׁקֵהRav/sha/KERabshakehהַעַלHA/alis it toאֲדֹנֶיךָa/do/NE/khayour masterוְאֵלֶיךָve/e/LE/khaand to youשְׁלָחַנִיshe/la/CHA/nihas sent meאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהֲלֹאha/LOis it notעַל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםal-ha/a/na/SHIMto the menהַיֹּשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMwho sitעַל־הַחֹמָהal-ha/cho/MAon the wallלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatאֶת־[צוֹאָתָם]et-tso/a/TAMtheir dungוְלִשְׁתּוֹתve/lish/TOTand to drinkאֶת־[מֵימֵיet-me/MEthe water ofרַגְלֵיהֶם]rag/le/HEMtheir feet(שניהם)shanayahamעִמָּכֶם׃im/ma/KHEMwith you

    But Rab-shakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

28. 28

    וַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodרַבְשָׁקֵהRav/sha/KERabshakehוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand cried outבְקוֹל־גָּדוֹלve/KOL-ga/DOLwith a loud voiceיְהוּדִיתYe/hu/DITin Judeanוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearדְּבַר־הַמֶּלֶךְde/VAR-ham/ME/lekhthe word of the kingהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּר׃Ash/SHURAssyria

    Then Rab-shakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

29. 29

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאַל־יַשִּׁאal-yash/SHIlet not deceiveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notיוּכַלyu/KHALwill he be ableלְהַצִּילle/hats/TSILto deliverאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִיָּדוֹ׃miy/ya/DOout of his hand

    Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

30. 30

    וְאַל־יַבְטַחve/AL-yav/TACHand let not make trustאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouחִזְקִיָּהוּChiz/kiy/YA/huHezekiahאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaiin the LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַצֵּלhats/TSELdeliverיַצִּילֵנוּyats/tsi/LE/nuwill deliver usיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notתִנָּתֵןtin/na/TENshall be givenאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּר׃Ash/SHURAssyria

    Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

31. 31

    אַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּal-tish/me/Udo not listenאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahכִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaעֲשׂוּ־אִתִּיa/SU-it/TImake with meבְרָכָהve/ra/KHAa blessingוּצְאוּu/tse/Uand come outאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְאִכְלוּve/ikh/LUand eatאִישׁ־גַּפְנוֹish-gaf/NOeach his vineוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachתְּאֵנָתוֹte/e/na/TOhis fig treeוּשְׁתוּu/she/TUand drinkאִישׁisheachמֵי־בֹרוֹ׃me-vo/ROthe waters of his cistern

    Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

    עַד־בֹּאִיad-bo/Iuntil I comeוְלָקַחְתִּיve/la/kach/TIand takeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto a landכְּאַרְצְכֶםke/ar/tse/KHEMlike your landאֶרֶץE/retsa land ofדָּגָןda/GANgrainוְתִירוֹשׁve/ti/ROSHand new wineאֶרֶץE/retsa land ofלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוּכְרָמִיםu/khe/ra/MIMand vineyardsאֶרֶץE/retsa land ofזֵיתzetolive trees ofיִצְהָרyits/HARoilוּדְבַשׁu/de/VASHand honeyוִחְיוּvich/YUthat you may liveוְלֹאve/LOand notתָמֻתוּta/MU/tudieוְאַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּve/AL-tish/me/Uand do not listenאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahכִּי־יַסִּיתki-yas/SITwhen he misleadsאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיַצִּילֵנוּ׃yats/tsi/LE/nuwill deliver us

    Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33. 33

    Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34. 34

    אַיֵּהay/YEwhere areאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe gods ofחֲמָתCha/MATHamathוְאַרְפָּדve/Ar/PADand Arpadאַיֵּהay/YEwhere areאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe gods ofסְפַרְוַיִםSe/far/VA/yimSepharvaimהֵנַעHe/NAHenaוְעִוָּהve/Iv/VAand Ivahכִּי־הִצִּילוּki-hits/TSI/luand have they deliveredאֶת־שֹׁמְרוֹןet-Shom/RONSamariaמִיָּדִי׃miy/ya/DIout of my hand

    Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

35. 35

    מִיmiwhoבְּכׇל־אֱלֹהֵיbe/KHOL-e/lo/HEamong all the gods ofהָאֲרָצוֹתha/a/ra/TSOTthe landsאֲשֶׁר־הִצִּילוּa/SHER-hits/TSI/luthat have deliveredאֶת־אַרְצָםet-ar/TSAMtheir landמִיָּדִיmiy/ya/DIout of my handכִּי־יַצִּילki-yats/TSILthat should deliverיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםet-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemמִיָּדִי׃miy/ya/DIout of my hand

    Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

36. 36

    וְהֶחֱרִישׁוּve/he/che/RI/shubut were silentהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְלֹא־עָנוּve/LO-a/NUand did not answerאֹתוֹo/TOhimדָּבָרda/VARa wordכִּי־מִצְוַתki-mits/VATfor the command ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהִיאhiit wasלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotתַעֲנֻהוּ׃ta/a/NU/huyou shall answer him

    But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶלְיָקִיםEl/ya/KIMEliakimבֶּן־חִלְקִיָּהben-Chil/kiy/YAthe son of Hilkiahאֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַבַּיִתa/SHER-al-hab/BA/yitwho was over the houseוְשֶׁבְנָאve/Shev/NAand Shebnaהַסֹּפֵרhas/so/FERthe scribeוְיוֹאָחve/Yo/ACHand Joahבֶּן־אָסָףben-A/SAFthe son of Asaphהַמַּזְכִּירham/maz/KIRthe recorderאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּel-Chiz/kiy/YA/huto Hezekiahקְרוּעֵיke/ru/Ewith tornבְגָדִיםve/ga/DIMgarmentsוַיַּגִּדוּvay/yag/GI/duand they toldלוֹloto himדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe words ofרַבְשָׁקֵה׃Rav/sha/KERabshakeh

    Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
