   וַעֲתַלְיָהva/A/tal/YAand Athaliahאֵםemthe mother ofאֲחַזְיָהוּA/chaz/YA/huAhaziah[רָאֲתָה]ra/a/TAsawכִּיkithatמֵתmetwas deadבְּנָהּbe/NAher sonוַתָּקׇםvat/TA/komand she aroseוַתְּאַבֵּדvat/te/ab/BEDand destroyedאֵת־כׇּל־זֶרַעet-kol-ZE/raall the seed ofהַמַּמְלָכָה׃ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdom

   And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

   But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

   And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

   וּבַשָּׁנָהu/vash/sha/NAand in the yearהַשְּׁבִיעִיתhash/she/vi/ITthe seventhשָׁלַחsha/LACHsentיְהוֹיָדָעYe/ho/ya/DAJehoiadaוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand fetchedאֶת־שָׂרֵיet-sa/REthe commanders of(המאיות)hamyavat[הַמֵּאוֹת]ham/me/OTthe hundredsלַכָּרִיlak/Ka/RIof the Caritesוְלָרָצִיםve/la/ra/TSIMand of the guardוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבֵּיתbetinto the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand madeלָהֶםla/HEMwith themבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantוַיַּשְׁבַּעvay/yash/BAand put under oathאֹתָםo/TAMthemבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he showedאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֶת־בֶּן־הַמֶּלֶךְ׃et-ben-ham/ME/lekhthe son of the king

   And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king's son.

   וַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingזֶהzethis isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתַּעֲשׂוּןta/a/SUNyou shall doהַשְּׁלִשִׁיתhash/she/li/SHITa thirdמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youבָּאֵיba/Ewho come in onהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATthe sabbathוְשֹׁמְרֵיve/shom/REshall keepמִשְׁמֶרֶתmish/ME/retthe watch ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

   And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house;

   וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁיתve/hash/she/li/SHITand a thirdבְּשַׁעַרbe/SHA/arat the gate ofסוּרSurSurוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁיתve/hash/she/li/SHITand a thirdבַּשַּׁעַרbash/SHA/arat the gateאַחַרa/CHARbehindהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe guardוּשְׁמַרְתֶּםu/she/mar/TEMso you shall keepאֶת־מִשְׁמֶרֶתet-mish/ME/retthe watch ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseמַסָּח׃mas/SACHby turns

   And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

   וּשְׁתֵּיush/TEand twoהַיָּדוֹתhay/ya/DOTpartsבָּכֶםba/KHEMof youכֹּלkolallיֹצְאֵיyots/Ewho go out onהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATthe sabbathוְשָׁמְרוּve/sha/me/RUshall keepאֶת־מִשְׁמֶרֶתet-mish/ME/retthe watch ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהbet-Adonaithe house of the LORDאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ׃el-ham/ME/lekharound the king

   And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

8. 8

   וְהִקַּפְתֶּםve/hik/kaf/TEMand you shall surroundעַל־הַמֶּלֶךְal-ham/ME/lekhthe kingסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutאִישׁisheachוְכֵלָיוve/khe/LAYVwith his weaponsבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוְהַבָּאve/hab/BAand whoever comesאֶל־הַשְּׂדֵרוֹתel-has/se/de/ROTwithin the ranksיוּמָתyu/MATlet him be put to deathוִהְיוּvih/YUand beאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְet-ham/ME/lekhwith the kingבְּצֵאתוֹbe/tse/TOwhen he goes outוּבְבֹאוֹ׃u/ve/vo/Oand when he comes in

   And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

   וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they didשָׂרֵיsa/REthe commanders of(המאיות)hamyavat[הַמֵּאוֹת]ham/me/OTthe hundredsכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat had commandedיְהוֹיָדָעYe/ho/ya/DAJehoiadaהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאִישׁisheachאֶת־אֲנָשָׁיוet-a/na/SHAYVhis menבָּאֵיba/Ewho were coming in onהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATthe sabbathעִםimwithיֹצְאֵיyots/Ewho were going out onהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATthe sabbathוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־יְהוֹיָדָעel-Ye/ho/ya/DAto Jehoiadaהַכֹּהֵן׃hak/ko/HENthe priest

   And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

    וַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestלְשָׂרֵיle/sa/REto the commanders of(המאיות)hamyavat[הַמֵּאוֹת]ham/me/OTthe hundredsאֶת־הַחֲנִיתet-ha/cha/NITthe spearוְאֶת־הַשְּׁלָטִיםve/ET-hash/she/la/TIMand the shieldsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhof kingדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.

    וַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe guardאִישׁisheachוְכֵלָיוve/khe/LAYVwith his weaponsבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handמִכֶּתֶףmik/KE/teffrom the side ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseהַיְמָנִיתhay/ma/NITrightעַד־כֶּתֶףad-KE/tefto the side ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseהַשְּׂמָאלִיתhas/se/ma/LITleftלַמִּזְבֵּחַlam/miz/BE/achby the altarוְלַבָּיִתve/lab/BA/yitand the houseעַל־הַמֶּלֶךְal-ham/ME/lekharound the kingסָבִיב׃sa/VIVround about

    And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

    וַיּוֹצִאvay/yo/TSIthen he brought outאֶת־בֶּן־הַמֶּלֶךְet-ben-ham/ME/lekhthe son of the kingוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand putעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himאֶת־הַנֵּזֶרet-han/NE/zerthe crownוְאֶת־הָעֵדוּתve/ET-ha/e/DUTand the testimonyוַיַּמְלִכוּvay/yam/LI/khuand they made kingאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּמְשָׁחֻהוּvay/yim/sha/CHU/huand they anointed himוַיַּכּוּ־כָףvay/yak/KU-khafand they clapped their handsוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidיְחִיye/CHIlong liveהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

13. 13

    וַתִּשְׁמַעvat/tish/MAand she heardעֲתַלְיָהA/tal/YAAthaliahאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe noise ofהָרָצִיןha/ra/TSINthe guardהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOand cameאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleבֵּיתbetinto the house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.

14. 14

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingעֹמֵדo/MEDwas standingעַל־הָעַמּוּדal-ha/am/MUDby the pillarכַּמִּשְׁפָּטkam/mish/PATaccording to the customוְהַשָּׂרִיםve/has/sa/RIMand the commandersוְהַחֲצֹצְרוֹתve/ha/cha/tsots/ROTand the trumpetsאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhbeside the kingוְכׇל־עַםve/KHOL-amand all the people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landשָׂמֵחַsa/ME/achwere rejoicingוְתֹקֵעַve/to/KE/aand blowingבַּחֲצֹצְרוֹתba/cha/tsots/ROTon trumpetsוַתִּקְרַעvat/tik/RAand she toreעֲתַלְיָהA/tal/YAAthaliahאֶת־בְּגָדֶיהָet-be/ga/DE/haher clothesוַתִּקְרָאvat/tik/RAand criedקֶשֶׁרKE/sherconspiracyקָשֶׁר׃KA/sherconspiracy

    And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedיְהוֹיָדָעYe/ho/ya/DAJehoiadaהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestאֶת־שָׂרֵיet-sa/REthe commanders of(המאיות)hamyavat[הַמֵּאוֹת]ham/me/OTthe hundredsפְּקֻדֵיpe/ku/DEappointed overהַחַיִלha/CHA/yilthe armyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהוֹצִיאוּho/TSI/ubring outאֹתָהּo/TAherאֶל־מִבֵּיתel-mib/BETout betweenלַשְּׂדֵרֹתlas/se/de/ROTthe ranksוְהַבָּאve/hab/BAand whoever followsאַחֲרֶיהָa/cha/RE/haafter herהָמֵתha/METkillבֶּחָרֶבbe/CHA/revby the swordכִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARhad saidהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestאַל־תּוּמַתal-tu/MATlet her not be put to deathבֵּיתbetin the house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

16. 16

    וַיָּשִׂמוּvay/ya/SI/muso they laidלָהּlaon herיָדַיִםya/DA/yimhandsוַתָּבוֹאvat/ta/VOand she wentדֶּרֶךְ־מְבוֹאDE/rekh-me/VOby the way of the entry ofהַסּוּסִיםhas/su/SIMthe horsesבֵּיתbetto the house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַתּוּמַתvat/tu/MATand she was put to deathשָׁם׃shamthere

    And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king's house: and there was she slain.

    וַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand madeיְהוֹיָדָעYe/ho/ya/DAJehoiadaאֶת־הַבְּרִיתet-hab/be/RITthe covenantבֵּיןbenbetweenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלְעָםle/AMa peopleלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiof the LORDוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.

18. 18

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand wentכׇל־עַםkhol-amall the people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landבֵּית־הַבַּעַלbet-Hab/BA/alto the house of Baalוַיִּתְּצֻהוּvay/yit/te/TSU/huand tore it downאֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָוet-miz/be/cho/TAVhis altarsוְאֶת־צְלָמָיוve/ET-tse/la/MAYVand its imagesשִׁבְּרוּshib/be/RUthey brokeהֵיטֵבhe/TEVthoroughlyוְאֵתve/ETandמַתָּןMat/TANMattanכֹּהֵןko/HENthe priest ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalהָרְגוּha/re/GUthey killedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמִּזְבְּחוֹתham/miz/be/CHOTthe altarsוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand appointedהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestפְּקֻדֹּתpe/kud/DOTofficersעַל־בֵּיתal-betover the house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־שָׂרֵיet-sa/REthe commanders ofהַמֵּאוֹתham/me/OThundredsוְאֶת־הַכָּרִיve/ET-hak/ka/RIand the Caritesוְאֶת־הָרָצִיםve/ET-ha/ra/TSIMand the guardוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־עַםkol-amall the people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַיֹּרִידוּvay/yo/RI/duand they brought downאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְet-ham/ME/lekhthe kingמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיָּבוֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameדֶּרֶךְ־שַׁעַרDE/rekh-SHA/arby the way of the gate ofהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe guardבֵּיתbetto the house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he satעַל־כִּסֵּאal-kis/SEon the throne ofהַמְּלָכִים׃ham/me/la/KHIMthe kings

    And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

    וַיִּשְׂמַחvay/yis/MACHand rejoicedכׇּל־עַם־הָאָרֶץkol-am-ha/A/retsall the people of the landוְהָעִירve/ha/IRand the cityשָׁקָטָהsha/KA/tawas quietוְאֶת־עֲתַלְיָהוּve/ET-a/tal/YA/huand Athaliahהֵמִיתוּhe/MI/tuthey put to deathבַחֶרֶבva/CHE/revby the swordבֵּיתbetat the house of(מלך)malakh[הַמֶּלֶךְ]׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.
