   And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכְּבֹאke/VOas soon as comesהַסֵּפֶרhas/SE/ferthe letterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youוְאִתְּכֶםve/it/te/KHEMsince with you areבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאֲדֹנֵיכֶםa/do/ne/KHEMyour masterוְאִתְּכֶםve/it/te/KHEMand with you areהָרֶכֶבha/RE/khevthe chariotsוְהַסּוּסִיםve/has/su/SIMand the horsesוְעִירve/IRand a city ofמִבְצָרmiv/TSARfortressוְהַנָּשֶׁק׃ve/han/NA/shekand weapons

   Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armour;

   וּרְאִיתֶםu/re/i/TEMthen selectהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe bestוְהַיָּשָׁרve/hay/ya/SHARand the most fitמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofאֲדֹנֵיכֶםa/do/ne/KHEMyour masterוְשַׂמְתֶּםve/sam/TEMand set himעַל־כִּסֵּאal-kis/SEon the throne ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְהִלָּחֲמוּve/hil/la/cha/MUand fightעַל־בֵּיתal-betfor the house ofאֲדֹנֵיכֶם׃a/do/ne/KHEMyour master

   Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

   וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they were afraidמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoהַמְּלָכִיםham/me/la/KHIMkingsלֹאlonotעָמְדוּa/me/DUcould standלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוְאֵיךְve/EKHand howנַעֲמֹדna/a/MODshall we standאֲנָחְנוּ׃a/NACH/nuwe

   But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַבַּיִתa/SHER-al-hab/BA/yithe who was over the houseוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand he who wasעַל־הָעִירal-ha/IRover the cityוְהַזְּקֵנִיםve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the eldersוְהָאֹמְנִיםve/ha/om/NIMand the guardiansאֶל־יֵהוּאel-Ye/HUto Jehuלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעֲבָדֶיךָa/va/DE/khayour servantsאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuare weוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמַרa/SHER-to/MARthat you tellאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usנַעֲשֶׂהna/a/SEwe will doלֹא־נַמְלִךְlo-nam/LIKHwe will not make kingאִישׁishanyoneהַטּוֹבhat/TOVwhat is goodבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesעֲשֵׂה׃a/SEdo

   And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.

   וַיִּכְתֹּבvay/yikh/TOVand he wroteאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themסֵפֶרSE/fera letterשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִם־לִיim-liif mineאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areוּלְקֹלִיu/le/ko/LIand to my voiceאַתֶּםat/TEMyouשֹׁמְעִיםshom/IMare listeningקְחוּke/CHUtakeאֶת־רָאשֵׁיet-ra/SHEthe heads ofאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe menבְנֵי־אֲדֹנֵיכֶםve/NE-a/do/ne/KHEMthe sons of your masterוּבֹאוּu/VO/uand comeאֵלַיe/LAYto meכָּעֵתka/ETabout this timeמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowיִזְרְעֶאלָהYiz/re/E/lato Jezreelוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sons ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyאִישׁishmenאֶת־גְּדֹלֵיet-ge/do/LEwith the great men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityמְגַדְּלִיםme/gad/de/LIMwho were bringing upאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

   Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבֹאke/VOwhen cameהַסֵּפֶרhas/SE/ferthe letterאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe sons ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיִּשְׁחֲטוּvay/yish/cha/TUand slaughteredשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyאִישׁishpersonsוַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muand they putאֶת־רָאשֵׁיהֶםet-ra/she/HEMtheir headsבַּדּוּדִיםbad/du/DIMin basketsוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand sent themאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיִזְרְעֶאלָה׃Yiz/re/E/lato Jezreel

   And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him them to Jezreel.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe messengerוַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֵבִיאוּhe/VI/uthey have broughtרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe heads ofבְנֵי־הַמֶּלֶךְve/NE-ham/ME/lekhthe sons of the kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidשִׂימוּSI/muputאֹתָםo/TAMthemשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoצִבֻּרִיםtsib/bu/RIMheapsפֶּתַחPE/tachat the entrance ofהַשַּׁעַרhash/SHA/arthe gateעַד־הַבֹּקֶר׃ad-hab/BO/keruntil the morning

   And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEthat he went outוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־כׇּל־הָעָםel-kol-ha/AMto all the peopleצַדִּקִיםtsad/di/KIMrighteousאַתֶּםat/TEMare youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנִיa/NIIקָשַׁרְתִּיka/SHAR/tiI conspiredעַל־אֲדֹנִיal-a/do/NIagainst my masterוָאֶהְרְגֵהוּva/eh/re/GE/huand killed himוּמִיu/MIbut whoהִכָּהhik/KAstruckאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּה׃et-kol-EL/leall these

   And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

    דְּעוּde/Uknowאֵפוֹאe/FOnowכִּיkithatלֹאlonotיִפֹּלyip/POLshall fallמִדְּבַרmid/de/VARof the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERthat spokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־בֵּיתal-betconcerning the house ofאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofעַבְדּוֹav/DOhis servantאֵלִיָּהוּ׃E/liy/YA/huElijah

    Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the LORD hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.

    וַיַּךְvay/YAKHso struckיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuאֵת־כׇּל־הַנִּשְׁאָרִיםet-kol-han/nish/a/RIMall who remainedלְבֵית־אַחְאָבle/VET-ach/AVof the house of Ahabבְּיִזְרְעֶאלbe/Yiz/re/ELin Jezreelוְכׇל־גְּדֹלָיוve/KHOL-ge/do/LAYVand all his great menוּמְיֻדָּעָיוu/me/yud/da/AYVand his close friendsוְכֹהֲנָיוve/kho/ha/NAYVand his priestsעַד־בִּלְתִּיad-bil/TIuntil notהִשְׁאִיר־לוֹhish/IR-lohe left himשָׂרִיד׃sa/RIDa survivor

    So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he aroseוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONto Samariaהוּאhuhe wasבֵּית־עֵקֶדbet-E/kedat Beth-eked ofהָרֹעִיםha/ro/IMthe shepherdsבַּדָּרֶךְ׃bad/DA/rekhon the way

    And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house in the way,

    וְיֵהוּאve/Ye/HUand Jehuמָצָאma/TSAmetאֶת־אֲחֵיet-a/CHEthe brethren ofאֲחַזְיָהוּA/chaz/YA/huAhaziahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAthe king of Judahוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִיmiwhoאַתֶּםat/TEMare youוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brethren ofאֲחַזְיָהוּA/chaz/YA/huAhaziahאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuare weוַנֵּרֶדvan/NE/redand we have come downלִשְׁלוֹםlish/LOMto greetבְּנֵי־הַמֶּלֶךְbe/NE-ham/ME/lekhthe sons of the kingוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sons ofהַגְּבִירָה׃hag/ge/vi/RAthe queen

    Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidתִּפְשׂוּםtif/SUMseize themחַיִּיםchay/YIMaliveוַיִּתְפְּשׂוּםvay/yit/pe/SUMand they took themחַיִּיםchay/YIMaliveוַיִּשְׁחָטוּםvay/yish/cha/TUMand slaughtered themאֶל־בּוֹרel-borat the pit ofבֵּית־עֵקֶדBet-E/kedBeth-ekedאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyוּשְׁנַיִםu/she/NA/yimand twoאִישׁishmenוְלֹא־הִשְׁאִירve/LO-hish/IRand he did not leaveאִישׁisha manמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he departedמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand he metאֶת־יְהוֹנָדָבet-Ye/ho/na/DAVJehonadabבֶּן־רֵכָבben-Re/KHAVthe son of Rechabלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himוַיְבָרְכֵהוּvay/va/re/KHE/huand he greeted himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהֲיֵשׁha/YESHisאֶת־לְבָבְךָet-le/va/ve/KHAyour heartיָשָׁרya/SHARrightכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasלְבָבִיle/va/VImy heart isעִם־לְבָבֶךָim-le/va/VE/khawith your heartוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹנָדָבYe/ho/na/DAVJehonadabיֵשׁyeshit isוָיֵשׁva/YESHif it isתְּנָהte/NAgiveאֶת־יָדֶךָet-ya/DE/khayour handוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַיַּעֲלֵהוּvay/ya/a/LE/huand he took him upאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶל־הַמֶּרְכָּבָה׃el-ham/mer/ka/VAinto the chariot

    And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלְכָהle/KHAcomeאִתִּיit/TIwith meוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand seeבְּקִנְאָתִיbe/kin/a/TImy zealלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaifor the LORDוַיַּרְכִּבוּvay/yar/KI/vuso they made rideאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּרִכְבּוֹ׃be/rikh/BOin his chariot

    And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

17. 17

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONto Samariaוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־כׇּל־הַנִּשְׁאָרִיםet-kol-han/nish/a/RIMall who remainedלְאַחְאָבle/Ach/AVof Ahabבְּשֹׁמְרוֹןbe/Shom/RONin Samariaעַד־הִשְׁמִדוֹad-hish/mi/DOtill he had destroyed himכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeאֶל־אֵלִיָּהוּ׃el-E/liy/YA/huto Elijah

    And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.

    וַיִּקְבֹּץvay/yik/BOTSand he gatheredיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuאֶת־כׇּל־הָעָםet-kol-ha/AMall the peopleוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabעָבַדa/VADservedאֶת־הַבַּעַלet-Hab/BA/althe Baalמְעָטme/ATa littleיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuיַעַבְדֶנּוּya/av/DEN/nuwill serve himהַרְבֵּה׃har/BEmuch

    And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

19. 19

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכׇל־נְבִיאֵיkhol-ne/vi/Eall the prophets ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalכׇּל־עֹבְדָיוkol-ov/DAYVall his servantsוְכׇל־כֹּהֲנָיוve/KHOL-ko/ha/NAYVand all his priestsקִרְאוּkir/Ucallאֵלַיe/LAYto meאִישׁisha manאַל־יִפָּקֵדal-yip/pa/KEDlet not be missingכִּיkiforזֶבַחZE/vacha sacrificeגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatלִיliI haveלַבַּעַלlab/BA/alfor the Baalכֹּלkolanyoneאֲשֶׁר־יִפָּקֵדa/SHER-yip/pa/KEDwho is missingלֹאlonotיִחְיֶהyich/YEhe shall liveוְיֵהוּאve/Ye/HUand Jehuעָשָׂהa/SAactedבְעׇקְבָּהve/ok/BAwith cunningלְמַעַןle/MA/anin orderהַאֲבִידha/a/VIDto destroyאֶת־עֹבְדֵיet-ov/DEthe servants ofהַבָּעַל׃hab/BA/althe Baal

    Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuקַדְּשׁוּkad/de/SHUsanctifyעֲצָרָהa/tsa/RAa solemn assemblyלַבַּעַלlab/BA/alfor the Baalוַיִּקְרָאוּ׃vay/yik/RA/uand they proclaimed

    And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuבְּכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/KHOL-yis/ra/ELin all Israelוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameכׇּל־עֹבְדֵיkol-OV/deall the servants ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוְלֹא־נִשְׁאַרve/LO-nish/ARand there was not leftאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־בָאlo-vadid not comeוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they went intoבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוַיִּמָּלֵאvay/yim/ma/LEand was filledבֵית־הַבַּעַלvet-Hab/BA/althe house of Baalפֶּהpemouthלָפֶה׃la/FEto mouth

    And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto him whoעַל־הַמֶּלְתָּחָהal-ham/mel/ta/CHAwas over the wardrobeהוֹצֵאho/TSEbring outלְבוּשׁle/VUSHgarmentsלְכֹלle/KHOLfor allעֹבְדֵיov/DEthe servants ofהַבָּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוַיֹּצֵאvay/yo/TSEand he brought outלָהֶםla/HEMfor themהַמַּלְבּוּשׁ׃ham/mal/BUSHthe garments

    And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand wentיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuוִיהוֹנָדָבVi/ho/na/DAVand Jehonadabבֶּן־רֵכָבben-Re/KHAVthe son of Rechabבֵּיתbetinto the house ofהַבָּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְעֹבְדֵיle/ov/DEto the servants ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalחַפְּשׂוּchap/pe/SUsearchוּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeפֶּן־יֶשׁ־פֹּהpen-yesh-polest there be hereעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youמֵעַבְדֵיme/av/DEof the servants ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkibutאִם־עֹבְדֵיim-ov/DEonly the servants ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalלְבַדָּם׃le/vad/DAMalone

    And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they went inלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto offerזְבָחִיםze/va/CHIMsacrificesוְעֹלוֹתve/o/LOTand burnt offeringsוְיֵהוּאve/Ye/HUand Jehuשָׂם־לוֹsam-lostationedבַחוּץva/CHUTSoutsideשְׁמֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMeightyאִישׁishmenוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁר־יִמָּלֵטa/SHER-yim/ma/LETwho escapesמִן־הָאֲנָשִׁיםmin-ha/a/na/SHIMfrom the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֲנִיa/NIIמֵבִיאme/VIam bringingעַל־יְדֵיכֶםal-ye/de/KHEMinto your handsנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis lifeתַּחַתTA/chatforנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOhis life

    And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלֹּתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he had finishedלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTofferingהָעֹלָהha/o/LAthe burnt offeringוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuלָרָצִיםla/ra/TSIMto the guardוְלַשָּׁלִשִׁיםve/lash/sha/li/SHIMand to the officersבֹּאוּBO/ugo inהַכּוּםhak/KUMstrike themאִישׁisha manאַל־יֵצֵאal-ye/TSElet not come outוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand they struck themלְפִי־חָרֶבle/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the swordוַיַּשְׁלִכוּvay/yash/LI/khuand cast them outהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe guardוְהַשָּׁלִשִׁיםve/hash/sha/li/SHIMand the officersוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentעַד־עִירad-irto the city ofבֵּית־הַבָּעַל׃bet-Hab/BA/althe house of Baal

    And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

26. 26

    וַיֹּצִאוּvay/yo/TSI/uand they brought outאֶת־מַצְּבוֹתet-mats/tse/VOTthe pillars ofבֵּית־הַבַּעַלbet-Hab/BA/althe house of Baalוַיִּשְׂרְפוּהָ׃vay/yis/re/FU/haand they burned it

    And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

27. 27

    וַיִּתְּצוּvay/yit/te/TSUand they tore downאֵת־מַצְּבַתet-mats/tse/VATthe pillar ofהַבָּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוַיִּתְּצוּvay/yit/te/TSUand they tore downאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוַיְשִׂמֻהוּvay/si/MU/huand they made it[לְמוֹצָאוֹת]le/mo/tsa/OTlatrinesעַד־הַיּוֹם׃ad-hay/YOMto this day

    And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.

28. 28

    וַיַּשְׁמֵדvay/yash/MEDand he destroyedיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuאֶת־הַבַּעַלet-Hab/BA/althe Baalמִיִּשְׂרָאֵל׃miy/Yis/ra/ELfrom Israel

    Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

29. 29

    רַקrakhoweverחֲטָאֵיcha/ta/Ethe sins ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamבֶּן־נְבָטben-Ne/VATthe son of Nebatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TImade to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelלֹא־סָרlo-sardid not turnיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuמֵאַחֲרֵיהֶםme/a/cha/re/HEMfrom after themעֶגְלֵיeg/LEthe calves ofהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVgoldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereבֵּית־אֵלbet-Elin Beth-elוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand that wereבְּדָן׃be/DANin Dan

    Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יֵהוּאel-Ye/HUto JehuיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁר־הֱטִיבֹתָa/SHER-he/ti/VO/tayou have done wellלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTin doingהַיָּשָׁרhay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינַיbe/e/NAYin My eyesכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasבִּלְבָבִיbil/va/VIin My heartעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tayou have doneלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabבְּנֵיbe/NEsons ofרְבִעִיםre/vi/IMthe fourthיֵשְׁבוּyesh/VUshall sitלְךָle/KHAyourעַל־כִּסֵּאal-kis/SEon the throne ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

31. 31

    וְיֵהוּאve/Ye/HUand Jehuלֹאlonotשָׁמַרsha/MARtook heedלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto walkבְּתוֹרַת־יְהֹוָהbe/to/RAT-Adonaiin the law of the LORDאֱלֹהֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלe/lo/HE-Yis/ra/ELthe God of Israelבְּכׇל־לְבָבוֹbe/KHOL-le/va/VOwith all his heartלֹאlonotסָרsardid he departמֵעַלme/ALfromחַטֹּאותchat/TOTthe sins ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TImade to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

32. 32

    בַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְקַצּוֹתle/kats/TSOTto cut offבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand he struck themחֲזָאֵלCha/za/ELHazaelבְּכׇל־גְּבוּלbe/KHOL-ge/VULin all the territory ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

33. 33

    מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּןmin-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordanמִזְרַחmiz/RACHtoward the rising ofהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunאֵת־כׇּל־אֶרֶץet-kol-E/retsall the land ofהַגִּלְעָדHag/gil/ADGileadהַגָּדִיhag/Ga/DIthe Gaditesוְהָראוּבֵנִיve/Har/u/ve/NIand the ReubenitesוְהַמְנַשִּׁיVe/ham/nash/SHIand the Manassitesמֵעֲרֹעֵרme/A/ro/ERfrom Aroerאֲשֶׁר־עַל־נַחַלa/SHER-al-NA/chalwhich is by the valley ofאַרְנֹןAr/NONArnonוְהַגִּלְעָדve/hag/Gil/ADand Gileadוְהַבָּשָׁן׃ve/hab/Ba/SHANand Bashan

    From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

34. 34

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all thatעָשָׂהa/SAhe didוְכׇל־גְּבוּרָתוֹve/KHOL-ge/vu/ra/TOand all his powerהֲלוֹא־הֵםha/LO-hemare they notכְּתוּבִיםke/tu/VIMwrittenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEof the kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

35. 35

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּשֹׁמְרוֹןbe/Shom/RONin Samariaוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedיְהוֹאָחָזYe/ho/a/CHAZJehoahazבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

36. 36

    וְהַיָּמִיםve/hay/ya/MIMand the timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedיֵהוּאYe/HUJehuעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelעֶשְׂרִים־וּשְׁמֹנֶהes/RIM-u/she/mo/NEtwenty and eightשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsבְּשֹׁמְרוֹן׃be/Shom/RONin Samaria

    And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
