1. 1

   וַיַּעַשׂand he madeיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahבִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםin Jerusalemפֶּסַחthe passoverלַיהֹוָהto the LORDוַיִּשְׁחֲטוּand they slaughteredהַפֶּסַחthe passoverבְּאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרon the fourteenthלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹן׃the first

   Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

2. 2

   וַיַּעֲמֵדand he setהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsעַל־מִשְׁמְרוֹתָםupon their dutiesוַיְחַזְּקֵםand encouraged themלַעֲבוֹדַתinto the worship ofבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD,

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלַלְוִיִּםto the Levites[הַמְּבִינִים]that taughtלְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלto all Israelהַקְּדוֹשִׁיםthe holyלַיהֹוָהto the LORDתְּנוּgiveאֶת־אֲרוֹן־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe ark of the sanctuaryבַּבַּיִתin the houseאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּנָהbuiltשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonבֶן־דָּוִידson of Davidמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֵין־לָכֶםthere is no to youמַשָּׂאthe burden ofבַּכָּתֵףon the shoulderעַתָּהnowעִבְדוּworkאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםyour Godוְאֵתandעַמּוֹhis peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,

   [וְהָכִינוּ]and prepare yourselvesלְבֵית־אֲבוֹתֵיכֶםto the house of your fathersכְּמַחְלְקוֹתֵיכֶםaccording to your divisionsבִּכְתָבin writingדָּוִידDavidמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוּבְמִכְתַּבand by the writing ofשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonבְנוֹ׃his son

   And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

   וְעִמְדוּand standבַקֹּדֶשׁin the holy placeלִפְלוּגֹּתaccording to the divisions ofבֵּיתthe house ofהָאָבוֹתthe fathersלַאֲחֵיכֶםto your brethrenבְּנֵיthe sons ofהָעָםthe peopleוַחֲלֻקַּתand a division ofבֵּית־אָבthe house of the fatherלַלְוִיִּם׃to the Levites

   And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites.

6. 6

   וְשַׁחֲטוּand slaughterהַפָּסַחthe passoverוְהִתְקַדְּשׁוּand sanctify yourselvesוְהָכִינוּand prepareלַאֲחֵיכֶםto your brethrenלַעֲשׂוֹתto doכִּדְבַר־יְהֹוָהaccording to the word of the LORDבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁה׃in the hand of Moses

   So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

7. 7

   וַיָּרֶםand he raisedיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofהָעָםthe peopleצֹאןflocksכְּבָשִׂיםlambsוּבְנֵי־עִזִּיםand sons of goatsהַכֹּלallלַפְּסָחִיםfor the passoversלְכׇל־הַנִּמְצָאto all the one foundלְמִסְפַּרto the number ofשְׁלֹשִׁיםthirtyאֶלֶףthousandוּבָקָרand herdsשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeאֲלָפִיםthousandאֵלֶּהtheseמֵרְכוּשׁfrom the property ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃the king

   And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance.

   וְשָׂרָיוand his princesלִנְדָבָהto a freewill offeringלָעָםto the peopleלַכֹּהֲנִיםunto the priestsוְלַלְוִיִּםand to the LevitesהֵרִימוּgaveחִלְקִיָּהHilkiahוּזְכַרְיָהוּand Zechariahוִיחִיאֵלand Jehielנְגִידֵיthe officers ofבֵּיתthe house ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe Godלַכֹּהֲנִיםunto the priestsנָתְנוּthey gaveלַפְּסָחִיםfor the passoversאַלְפַּיִםtwo thousandוְשֵׁשׁand sixמֵאוֹתhundredוּבָקָרand herdsשְׁלֹשׁthreeמֵאוֹת׃hundred

   And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.

9. 9

   [וְכׇנַנְיָהוּ]and Cononiahוּשְׁמַעְיָהוּand Shemaiahוּנְתַנְאֵלand Nethaneelאֶחָיוhis brethrenוַחֲשַׁבְיָהוּand Hashabiahוִיעִיאֵלand Jeielוְיוֹזָבָדand Jozabadשָׂרֵיcaptains ofהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesהֵרִימוּgaveלַלְוִיִּםto the Levitesלַפְּסָחִיםfor the passoversחֲמֵשֶׁתfiveאֲלָפִיםthousandוּבָקָרand herdsחֲמֵשׁfiveמֵאוֹת׃hundred

   Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.

10. 10

    וַתִּכּוֹןand it was arrangedהָעֲבוֹדָהthe ministryוַיַּעַמְדוּand stoodהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsעַל־עׇמְדָםupon their placeוְהַלְוִיִּםand the Levitesעַל־מַחְלְקוֹתָםupon their divisionsכְּמִצְוַתaccording to the commandments ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃the king

    So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king's commandment.

11. 11

    וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּand they slaughteredהַפָּסַחthe passoverוַיִּזְרְקוּand sprinkledהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsמִיָּדָםout of their handsוְהַלְוִיִּםand the Levitesמַפְשִׁיטִים׃were skinning them

    And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them.

12. 12

    וַיָּסִירוּand turned awayהָעֹלָהthe burnt offeringלְתִתָּםto give themלְמִפְלַגּוֹתto the divisionsלְבֵית־אָבוֹתto the house of the fathersלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofהָעָםthe peopleלְהַקְרִיבto offerלַיהֹוָהto the LORDכַּכָּתוּבaccording to what is writtenבְּסֵפֶרin the book ofמֹשֶׁהMosesוְכֵןand soלַבָּקָר׃for the cattle

    And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.

13. 13

    וַיְבַשְּׁלוּand they cookedהַפֶּסַחthe passoverבָּאֵשׁby fireכַּמִּשְׁפָּטaccording to the ordinanceוְהַקֳּדָשִׁיםand the holy offeringsבִּשְּׁלוּthey boiledבַּסִּירוֹתin the potsוּבַדְּוָדִיםand in the kettlesוּבַצֵּלָחוֹתand in the pansוַיָּרִיצוּand they brought them quicklyלְכׇל־בְּנֵיto all sons ofהָעָם׃the people

    And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

14. 14

    וְאַחַרand thenהֵכִינוּthey preparedלָהֶםto themוְלַכֹּהֲנִיםand for the priestsכִּיbecauseהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsבְּנֵיthe sons ofאַהֲרֹןAaronבְּהַעֲלוֹתin the ascending ofהָעוֹלָהthe ascendingוְהַחֲלָבִיםand the fatעַד־לָיְלָהuntil nightוְהַלְוִיִּםand the Levitesהֵכִינוּthey preparedלָהֶםto themוְלַכֹּהֲנִיםand for the priestsבְּנֵיthe sons ofאַהֲרֹן׃Aaron

    And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

15. 15

    וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםand the singersבְּנֵי־אָסָףsons of Asaphעַל־מַעֲמָדָםupon their functionכְּמִצְוַתaccording to the commandments ofדָּוִידDavidוְאָסָףand Asaphוְהֵימָןand Hemanוִידֻתוּןand Jeduthunחוֹזֵהthe seer ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְהַשֹּׁעֲרִיםand the gatekeepersלְשַׁעַרfor the gate ofוָשָׁעַרand a gateאֵיןthere is noלָהֶםto themלָסוּרto departמֵעַלfrom uponעֲבֹדָתָםtheir serviceכִּי־אֲחֵיהֶםbecause their brethrenהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesהֵכִינוּthey preparedלָהֶם׃to them

    And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

16. 16

    וַתִּכּוֹןand it was arrangedכׇּל־עֲבוֹדַתall ministry ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatלַעֲשׂוֹתto doהַפֶּסַחthe passoverוְהַעֲלוֹתand to offer upעֹלוֹתburnt offeringsעַלuponמִזְבַּחthe altar ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּמִצְוַתaccording to the commandments ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingיֹאשִׁיָּהוּ׃Josiah

    So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Josiah.

17. 17

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּand they didבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלsons of Israelהַנִּמְצְאִיםthose who were foundאֶת־הַפֶּסַחthe passoverבָּעֵתat the timeהַהִיאthatוְאֶת־חַגand festival ofהַמַּצּוֹתthe unleavened breadשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days

    And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

18. 18

    וְלֹא־נַעֲשָׂהand not was doneפֶסַחa passoverכָּמֹהוּlike itבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלin Israelמִימֵיfrom the days ofשְׁמוּאֵלSamuelהַנָּבִיאthe prophetוְכׇל־מַלְכֵיand all the kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelלֹא־עָשׂוּnot they didכַּפֶּסַחlike the passoverאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםand the priestsוְהַלְוִיִּםand the Levitesוְכׇל־יְהוּדָהand all Judahוְיִשְׂרָאֵלand Israelהַנִּמְצָאthe one foundוְיוֹשְׁבֵיand the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

    And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19. 19

    בִּשְׁמוֹנֶה־עֶשְׂרֵהon the eighteenthשָׁנָהyearלְמַלְכוּתof reign ofיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahנַעֲשָׂהwas doneהַפֶּסַחthe passoverהַזֶּה׃this

    In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

20. 20

    אַחֲרֵיafterכׇל־זֹאתall thisאֲשֶׁרwhichהֵכִיןpreparedיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseעָלָהascendedנְכוֹNechoמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםking of Egyptלְהִלָּחֵםto fightבְּכַרְכְּמִישׁat Carchemishעַל־פְּרָתupon Euphratesוַיֵּצֵאand went outלִקְרָאתוֹto meet himיֹאשִׁיָּהוּ׃Josiah

    After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentאֵלָיוto himמַלְאָכִיםmessengersלֵאמֹרsayingמַה־לִּיwhat to meוָלָךְand to youמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahלֹא־עָלֶיךָnot upon youאַתָּהyouהַיּוֹםthe dayכִּיforאֶל־בֵּיתto the house ofמִלְחַמְתִּיmy battleוֵאלֹהִיםand Godאָמַרsaidלְבַהֲלֵנִיto hasten meחֲדַל־לְךָcease for youמֵאֱלֹהִיםby Godאֲשֶׁר־עִמִּיwhich with meוְאַל־יַשְׁחִיתֶךָ׃that he destroy you not

    But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.

22. 22

    וְלֹא־הֵסֵבand not he removedיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahפָנָיוhis faceמִמֶּנּוּfrom himכִּיbecauseלְהִלָּחֵם־בּוֹto fight against himהִתְחַפֵּשׂhe disguised himselfוְלֹאand notשָׁמַעheardאֶל־דִּבְרֵיto the words ofנְכוֹNechoמִפִּיfrom the mouth ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוַיָּבֹאand cameלְהִלָּחֵםto fightבְּבִקְעַתin the valley ofמְגִדּוֹ׃Megiddo

    Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

23. 23

    וַיֹּרוּand they shot arrowsהַיֹּרִיםthe archersלַמֶּלֶךְthe kingיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahוַיֹּאמֶרand saidהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingלַעֲבָדָיוunto his servantsהַעֲבִירוּנִיtake away meכִּיforהׇחֳלֵיתִיI am sore woundedמְאֹד׃exceedingly

    And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded.

24. 24

    וַיַּעֲבִירֻהוּand took him awayעֲבָדָיוhis servantsמִן־הַמֶּרְכָּבָהfrom the chariotוַיַּרְכִּיבֻהוּand put him inעַלuponרֶכֶבchariotryהַמִּשְׁנֶהthe secondאֲשֶׁר־לוֹwhich he hasוַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּand they brought himיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemוַיָּמׇתand he diedוַיִּקָּבֵרand was buriedבְּקִבְרוֹתin the graves ofאֲבֹתָיוhis fathersוְכׇל־יְהוּדָהand all Judahוִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםand Jerusalemמִתְאַבְּלִיםmourningעַל־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ׃upon Josiah

    His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25. 25

    וַיְקוֹנֵןand he made a lamentיִרְמְיָהוּJeremiahעַל־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּupon Josiahוַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidכׇל־הַשָּׁרִיםall the male singersוְהַשָּׁרוֹתand the female singersבְּקִינוֹתֵיהֶםin their lamentationsעַל־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּupon Josiahעַד־הַיּוֹםeven until the dayוַיִּתְּנוּםand made themלְחֹקan ordinanceעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon Israelוְהִנָּםand behold theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־הַקִּינוֹת׃upon the lamentations

    And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

26. 26

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahוַחֲסָדָיוand his good deedsכַּכָּתוּבaccording to what is writtenבְּתוֹרַתthe law ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,

27. 27

    וּדְבָרָיוand his wordsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםthe firstוְהָאַחֲרֹנִיםand the latterהִנָּםbehold theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofמַלְכֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלthe kings of Israelוִיהוּדָה׃and Judah

    And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
