   יְחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahמָלַךְreignedבֶּן־עֶשְׂרִיםson of twentyוְחָמֵשׁand fiveשָׁנָהyearsוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyוָתֵשַׁעand nineשָׁנָהyearsמָלַךְreignedבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherאֲבִיָּהAbijahבַּת־זְכַרְיָהוּ׃daughter of Zechariah

   Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

2. 2

   וַיַּעַשׂand he didהַיָּשָׁרthe rightבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didדָּוִידDavidאָבִיו׃his father

   And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.

   הוּאheבַשָּׁנָהin the yearהָרִאשׁוֹנָהthe firstלְמׇלְכוֹof his reigningבַּחֹדֶשׁin the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstפָּתַחopenedאֶת־דַּלְתוֹתthe doors ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהthe house of the LORDוַיְחַזְּקֵם׃and repaired them

   He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.

4. 4

   וַיָּבֵאand he broughtאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsוְאֶת־הַלְוִיִּםand the Levitesוַיַּאַסְפֵםand he gathered themלִרְחוֹבto the open place ofהַמִּזְרָח׃the east

   And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָהֶםto themשְׁמָעוּנִיlisten to meהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesעַתָּהnowהִתְקַדְּשׁוּsanctify yourselvesוְקַדְּשׁוּand consecrateאֶת־בֵּיתhouse ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאֲבֹתֵיכֶםyour fathersוְהוֹצִיאוּand carry forthאֶת־הַנִּדָּהthe impurityמִן־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃from the sanctuary

   And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

   כִּי־מָעֲלוּbecause they acted unfaithfullyאֲבֹתֵינוּour fathersוְעָשׂוּand they did workהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָה־אֱלֹהֵינוּthe LORD our Godוַיַּעַזְבֻהוּand they have left himוַיַּסֵּבּוּand they turned roundפְנֵיהֶםtheir facesמִמִּשְׁכַּןaway from the tabernacle ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיִּתְּנוּ־עֹרֶף׃and turned their backs

   For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.

   גַּםalsoסָגְרוּthey shutדַּלְתוֹתthe doors ofהָאוּלָםthe porchוַיְכַבּוּand they extinguishedאֶת־הַנֵּרוֹתthe lampsוּקְטֹרֶתand the incense ofלֹאnotהִקְטִירוּthey burnedוְעֹלָהand a burnt offeringלֹא־הֶעֱלוּnot offeredבַקֹּדֶשׁin the holy placeלֵאלֹהֵיto the God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.

8. 8

   וַיְהִיand it came to passקֶצֶףthe wrath ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־יְהוּדָהupon Judahוִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםand Jerusalemוַיִּתְּנֵםand he made them(לזועה)[לְזַעֲוָה]into a terrorלְשַׁמָּהdesolateוְלִשְׁרֵקָהand into a hissingכַּאֲשֶׁרasאַתֶּםyou areרֹאִיםseeבְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃in your view

   Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.

9. 9

   וְהִנֵּהand beholdנָפְלוּfellאֲבוֹתֵינוּour fathersבֶּחָרֶבby the swordוּבָנֵינוּand our sonsוּבְנוֹתֵינוּand our daughtersוְנָשֵׁינוּand our wivesבַּשְּׁבִיthe captiveעַל־זֹאת׃upon this

   For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

10. 10

    עַתָּהnowעִם־לְבָבִיwith my heartלִכְרוֹתto cutבְּרִיתcovenant ofלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְיָשֹׁבand it shall returnמִמֶּנּוּfrom himחֲרוֹןfierceאַפּוֹ׃His wrath

    Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11. 11

    בָּנַיmy sonsעַתָּהnowאַל־תִּשָּׁלוּbe not now negligentכִּי־בָכֶםbecause over youבָּחַרchoseיְהֹוָהthe LORDלַעֲמֹדto standלְפָנָיוbefore himלְשׇׁרְתוֹto serve himוְלִהְיוֹתand to beלוֹto himמְשָׁרְתִיםministeringוּמַקְטִרִים׃and are burning

    My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

    וַיָּקֻמוּand they rose upהַלְוִיִּםthe LevitesמַחַתMahathבֶּן־עֲמָשַׂיson of Amasaiוְיוֹאֵלand Joelבֶּן־עֲזַרְיָהוּson of Azariahמִן־בְּנֵיfrom the sons ofהַקְּהָתִיthe Kohathitesוּמִן־בְּנֵיand from the sons ofמְרָרִיMerariקִישׁKishבֶּן־עַבְדִּיson of Abdiוַעֲזַרְיָהוּand Azariahבֶּן־יְהַלֶּלְאֵלson of Jehaleleelוּמִן־הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיand from the GershonitesיוֹאָחJoahבֶּן־זִמָּהson of Zimmahוְעֵדֶןand Edenבֶּן־יוֹאָח׃son of Joah

    Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:

13. 13

    וּמִן־בְּנֵיand from the sons ofאֱלִיצָפָןElizaphanשִׁמְרִיShimri[וִיעִיאֵל]and Jeielוּמִן־בְּנֵיand from the sons ofאָסָףAsaphזְכַרְיָהוּZechariahוּמַתַּנְיָהוּ׃and Mattaniah

    And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:

14. 14

    וּמִן־בְּנֵיand from the sons ofהֵימָןHeman[יְחִיאֵל]Jehielוְשִׁמְעִיand Shimeiוּמִן־בְּנֵיand from the sons ofיְדוּתוּןJeduthunשְׁמַעְיָהShemaiahוְעֻזִּיאֵל׃and Uzziel

    And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.

15. 15

    וַיַּאַסְפוּand they gatheredאֶת־אֲחֵיהֶםtheir brothersוַיִּתְקַדְּשׁוּand they sanctifiedוַיָּבֹאוּand they cameכְמִצְוַת־הַמֶּלֶךְaccording to the command of the kingבְּדִבְרֵיwith the words ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְטַהֵרto purifyבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.

16. 16

    וַיָּבֹאוּand cameהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsלִפְנִימָהto withinבֵית־יְהֹוָהhouse of the LORDלְטַהֵרto purifyוַיּוֹצִיאוּand they brought outאֵת־כׇּל־הַטֻּמְאָהall of the uncleannessאֲשֶׁרwhichמָצְאוּfoundבְּהֵיכַלin the temple ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלַחֲצַרto the court ofבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיְקַבְּלוּand they receivedהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesלְהוֹצִיאto bring outלְנַחַל־קִדְרוֹןthe river Kidronחוּצָה׃outside

    And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.

17. 17

    וַיָּחֵלּוּand beganבְּאֶחָדin oneלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstלְקַדֵּשׁto consecrateוּבְיוֹםand in the day ofשְׁמוֹנָהeightלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthבָּאוּcameלְאוּלָםto the porch ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיְקַדְּשׁוּand they consecratedאֶת־בֵּית־יְהֹוָהhouse of the LORDלְיָמִיםto daysשְׁמוֹנָהeightוּבְיוֹםand in the day ofשִׁשָּׁה־עָשָׂרsixteenלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstכִּלּוּ׃they finished

    Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

18. 18

    וַיָּבוֹאוּand they cameפְנִימָהwithinאֶל־חִזְקִיָּהוּto Hezekiahהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidטִהַרְנוּwe have cleansedאֶת־כׇּל־בֵּיתall house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־מִזְבַּחthe altar ofהָעוֹלָהthe ascendingוְאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלָיוand all its vesselsוְאֶת־שֻׁלְחַןand the table ofהַמַּעֲרֶכֶתthe rowוְאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלָיו׃and all its vessels

    Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.

19. 19

    וְאֵתandכׇּל־הַכֵּלִיםall the vesselsאֲשֶׁרwhichהִזְנִיחַhad rejectedהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingאָחָזAhazבְּמַלְכוּתוֹin his reignבְּמַעֲלוֹin his unfaithfulnessהֵכַנּוּwe have preparedוְהִקְדָּשְׁנוּand we have consecratedוְהִנָּםand behold theyלִפְנֵיbeforeמִזְבַּחthe altar ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.

20. 20

    וַיַּשְׁכֵּםand he rose earlyיְחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוַיֶּאֱסֹףand he gatheredאֵת־שָׂרֵיcaptains ofהָעִירthe cityוַיַּעַלand he ascendedבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.

21. 21

    וַיָּבִיאוּand broughtפָרִים־שִׁבְעָהyoung bulls sevenוְאֵילִיםand ramsשִׁבְעָהsevenוּכְבָשִׂיםand lambsשִׁבְעָהsevenוּצְפִירֵיand he goats ofעִזִּיםgoatsשִׁבְעָהsevenלְחַטָּאתto a sin offeringעַל־הַמַּמְלָכָהupon the kingdomוְעַל־הַמִּקְדָּשׁand upon the sanctuaryוְעַל־יְהוּדָהand upon Judahוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofאַהֲרֹןAaronהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsלְהַעֲלוֹתto offerעַל־מִזְבַּחupon altarיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.

22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּand they slaughteredהַבָּקָרthe herdוַיְקַבְּלוּand receivedהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsאֶת־הַדָּםthe bloodוַיִּזְרְקוּand they sprinkled itהַמִּזְבֵּחָהto the altarוַיִּשְׁחֲטוּand they slaughteredהָאֵלִיםthe ramsוַיִּזְרְקוּand they sprinkled itהַדָּםthe bloodהַמִּזְבֵּחָהto the altarוַיִּשְׁחֲטוּand they slaughteredהַכְּבָשִׂיםlambsוַיִּזְרְקוּand they sprinkled itהַדָּםthe bloodהַמִּזְבֵּחָה׃to the altar

    So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.

23. 23

    וַיַּגִּישׁוּand they brought nearאֶת־שְׂעִירֵיmale goats ofהַחַטָּאתthe sinלִפְנֵיbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְהַקָּהָלand the assemblyוַיִּסְמְכוּand they laidיְדֵיהֶםtheir handsעֲלֵיהֶם׃upon them

    And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:

24. 24

    וַיִּשְׁחָטוּםand slaughtered themהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsוַיְחַטְּאוּand they made a sin offeringאֶת־דָּמָםtheir bloodהַמִּזְבֵּחָהto the altarלְכַפֵּרto make atonementעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon all Israelכִּיbecauseלְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלto all Israelאָמַרsaidהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingהָעוֹלָהthe ascendingוְהַחַטָּאת׃and the sin offering

    And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

25. 25

    וַיַּעֲמֵדand he setאֶת־הַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDבִּמְצִלְתַּיִםwith cymbalsבִּנְבָלִיםwith lyresוּבְכִנֹּרוֹתand on harpsבְּמִצְוַתby the commandment ofדָּוִידDavidוְגָדand Gadחֹזֵה־הַמֶּלֶךְthe seer of the kingוְנָתָןand Nathanהַנָּבִיאthe prophetכִּיforבְיַד־יְהֹוָהby the hand of the LORDהַמִּצְוָהthe commandmentבְּיַד־נְבִיאָיו׃in the hand of His-prophets

    And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

26. 26

    וַיַּעַמְדוּand stoodהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesבִּכְלֵיwith instruments ofדָוִידDavidוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםand the priestsבַּחֲצֹצְרוֹת׃on trumpets

    And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahלְהַעֲלוֹתto offerהָעֹלָהthe burnt offeringלְהַמִּזְבֵּחַto the altarוּבְעֵתand at the timeהֵחֵלbeganהָעוֹלָהthe ascendingהֵחֵלbeganשִׁיר־יְהֹוָהthe song of the LORDוְהַחֲצֹצְרוֹתand the trumpetsוְעַל־יְדֵיand upon the hands ofכְּלֵיvessels ofדָּוִידDavidמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃king of Israel

    And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

28. 28

    וְכׇל־הַקָּהָלand all the assemblyמִשְׁתַּחֲוִיםwere bowing downוְהַשִּׁירand the songמְשׁוֹרֵרwas singingוְהַחֲצֹצְרוֹתand the trumpets(מחצצרים)[מַחְצְרִים]trumpetersהַכֹּלallעַדuntilלִכְלוֹתthe end ofהָעֹלָה׃the burnt offering

    And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

29. 29

    וּכְכַלּוֹתand when had finishedלְהַעֲלוֹתto offerכָּרְעוּthey kneltהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְכׇל־הַנִּמְצְאִיםand all the one who were foundאִתּוֹwith himוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ׃and they worshiped

    And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוְהַשָּׂרִיםand the princesלַלְוִיִּםto the Levitesלְהַלֵּלto praiseלַיהֹוָהto the LORDבְּדִבְרֵיwith the words ofדָוִידDavidוְאָסָףand Asaphהַחֹזֶהthe seerוַיְהַלְלוּand they praisedעַד־לְשִׂמְחָהwith gladnessוַיִּקְּדוּand they bowed lowוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ׃and they worshiped

    Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

31. 31

    וַיַּעַןand he answeredיְחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahוַיֹּאמֶרand saidעַתָּהnowמִלֵּאתֶםyou have filledיֶדְכֶםyour handלַיהֹוָהto the LORDגֹּשׁוּdraw nearוְהָבִיאוּand bringזְבָחִיםsacrificesוְתוֹדוֹתand thank offeringsלְבֵיתto the house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיָּבִיאוּand broughtהַקָּהָלthe assemblyזְבָחִיםsacrificesוְתוֹדוֹתand thank offeringsוְכׇל־נְדִיבand as many as were willing ofלֵבheartעֹלוֹת׃burnt offerings

    Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיand it came to passמִסְפַּרthe number ofהָעֹלָהthe burnt offeringאֲשֶׁרwhichהֵבִיאוּthey broughtהַקָּהָלthe assemblyבָּקָרof the herdשִׁבְעִיםseventyאֵילִיםramsמֵאָהa hundredכְּבָשִׂיםlambsמָאתָיִםtwo hundredלְעֹלָהto a burnt offeringלַיהֹוָהto the LORDכׇּל־אֵלֶּה׃all these

    And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.

33. 33

    וְהַקֳּדָשִׁיםand the holy offeringsבָּקָרof the herdשֵׁשׁsixמֵאוֹתhundredוְצֹאןand the flock ofשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeאֲלָפִים׃thousand

    And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

34. 34

    רַקonlyהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsהָיוּwereלִמְעָטtoo fewוְלֹאand notיָכְלוּcould theyלְהַפְשִׁיטto skinאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֹלוֹתall the burnt offeringsוַיְחַזְּקוּםand helped themאֲחֵיהֶםtheir brethrenהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesעַד־כְּלוֹתuntil was endedהַמְּלָאכָהthe taskוְעַדand untoיִתְקַדְּשׁוּthey shall be sanctifiedהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsכִּיforהַלְוִיִּםthe Levitesיִשְׁרֵיupright ofלֵבָבheartלְהִתְקַדֵּשׁto consecrate themselvesמֵהַכֹּהֲנִים׃than the priests

    But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35. 35

    וְגַם־עֹלָהand also a burnt offeringלָרֹבin abundanceבְּחֶלְבֵיwith the fat ofהַשְּׁלָמִיםthe peace offeringוּבַנְּסָכִיםand with the drink offeringsלָעֹלָהto the burnt offeringוַתִּכּוֹןand it was arrangedעֲבוֹדַתministry ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָה׃the house of the LORD

    And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.

36. 36

    וַיִּשְׂמַחand rejoicedיְחִזְקִיָּהוּHezekiahוְכׇל־הָעָםand all the peopleעַלuponהַהֵכִיןwhat he had preparedהָאֱלֹהִיםthe Godלָעָםto the peopleכִּיbecauseבְּפִתְאֹםin suddennessהָיָהwasהַדָּבָר׃the thing

    And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
