   וַעֲזַרְיָהוּand Azariahבֶּן־עוֹדֵדson of Odedהָיְתָהwasעָלָיוupon himרוּחַthe spirit ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

   And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

   וַיֵּצֵאand went outלִפְנֵיbeforeאָסָאAsaוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himשְׁמָעוּנִיlisten to meאָסָאAsaוְכׇל־יְהוּדָהand all Judahוּבִנְיָמִןand Benjaminיְהֹוָהthe LORDעִמָּכֶםwith youבִּהְיוֹתְכֶםwhen you areעִמּוֹwith himוְאִם־תִּדְרְשֻׁהוּand if you will seek himיִמָּצֵאfoundלָכֶםto youוְאִם־תַּעַזְבֻהוּand if you will forsake himיַעֲזֹבhe shall forsakeאֶתְכֶם׃you

   And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

   וְיָמִיםand daysרַבִּיםmanyלְיִשְׂרָאֵלto Israelלְלֹאto notאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאֱמֶתtruthוּלְלֹאand to notכֹּהֵןa priestמוֹרֶהteacherוּלְלֹאand to notתוֹרָה׃Law

   Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

4. 4

   וַיָּשׇׁבand he returnedבַּצַּר־לוֹwhen in distress to himעַל־יְהֹוָהupon the LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיְבַקְשֻׁהוּand they sought himוַיִּמָּצֵאand it was foundלָהֶם׃to them

   But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

5. 5

   וּבָעִתִּיםand in the timesהָהֵםthoseאֵיןthere is noשָׁלוֹםpeaceלַיּוֹצֵאto the one who went outוְלַבָּאand to the one who came inכִּיbecauseמְהוּמֹתdisturbancesרַבּוֹתmanyעַלuponכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיall inhabitants ofהָאֲרָצוֹת׃the lands

   And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

6. 6

   וְכֻתְּתוּand they were crushedגוֹי־בְּגוֹיnation against a nationוְעִירand the city ofבְּעִירin the city ofכִּי־אֱלֹהִיםbecause Godהֲמָמָםhe troubled themבְּכׇל־צָרָה׃in all affliction

   And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

   וְאַתֶּםand youחִזְקוּbe strongוְאַל־יִרְפּוּand do not they dropיְדֵיכֶםyour handsכִּיforיֵשׁthereשָׂכָרrewardלִפְעֻלַּתְכֶם׃for your work

   Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

   וְכִשְׁמֹעַand when heardאָסָאAsaהַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְהַנְּבוּאָהand the prophecyעֹדֵדOdedהַנָּבִיאthe prophetהִתְחַזַּקhe took courageוַיַּעֲבֵרand he made to passהַשִּׁקּוּצִיםthe detestable thingsמִכׇּל־אֶרֶץfrom all land ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּבִנְיָמִןand Benjaminוּמִן־הֶעָרִיםand from the citiesאֲשֶׁרwhichלָכַדhe capturedמֵהַרfrom the mountain ofאֶפְרָיִםEphraimוַיְחַדֵּשׁand he renewedאֶת־מִזְבַּחthe altar ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichלִפְנֵיbeforeאוּלָםthe porch ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

   וַיִּקְבֹּץand he gatheredאֶת־כׇּל־יְהוּדָהall Judahוּבִנְיָמִןand Benjaminוְהַגָּרִיםand the ones who sojournedעִמָּהֶםwith themמֵאֶפְרַיִםof Ephraimוּמְנַשֶּׁהand Manassehוּמִשִּׁמְעוֹןand from Simeonכִּי־נָפְלוּbecause fellעָלָיוupon himמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלfrom Israelלָרֹבin abundanceבִּרְאֹתָםwhen they seeכִּי־יְהֹוָהfor the LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godעִמּוֹ׃with him

   And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

10. 10

    וַיִּקָּבְצוּand gathered themselvesיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemבַּחֹדֶשׁin the monthהַשְּׁלִשִׁיthe thirdלִשְׁנַתto the year ofחֲמֵשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵהfifteenלְמַלְכוּתof reign ofאָסָא׃Asa

    So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11. 11

    וַיִּזְבְּחוּand sacrificedלַיהֹוָהto the LORDבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatמִן־הַשָּׁלָלfrom the plunderהֵבִיאוּthey broughtבָּקָרoxenשְׁבַעsevenמֵאוֹתhundredוְצֹאןand the flock ofשִׁבְעַתsevenאֲלָפִים׃thousand

    And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

12. 12

    וַיָּבֹאוּand they cameבַבְּרִיתinto the covenantלִדְרוֹשׁto seekאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםtheir fathersבְּכׇל־לְבָבָםin all their heartsוּבְכׇל־נַפְשָׁם׃and in all their soul

    And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13. 13

    וְכֹלand allאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִדְרֹשׁnot one inquireלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלGod of Israelיוּמָתhe shall be put to deathלְמִן־קָטֹןfrom smallוְעַד־גָּדוֹלand unto greatלְמֵאִישׁwhether manוְעַד־אִשָּׁה׃and unto a woman

    That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14. 14

    וַיִּשָּׁבְעוּand they sworeלַיהֹוָהto the LORDבְּקוֹלthe voice ofגָּדוֹלgreatוּבִתְרוּעָהand with a shoutוּבַחֲצֹצְרוֹתand with trumpetsוּבְשׁוֹפָרוֹת׃and with ram's horns

    And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׂמְחוּand they did rejoiceכׇל־יְהוּדָהall Judahעַל־הַשְּׁבוּעָהupon the oathכִּיforבְכׇל־לְבָבָםin all their heartsנִשְׁבָּעוּthey sworeוּבְכׇל־רְצוֹנָםand in all their willבִּקְשֻׁהוּthey had sought himוַיִּמָּצֵאand it was foundלָהֶםto themוַיָּנַחand restedיְהֹוָהthe LORDלָהֶםto themמִסָּבִיב׃all around

    And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.

16. 16

    וְגַם־מַעֲכָהand also Maachahאֵםmother ofאָסָאAsaהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingהֱסִירָהּhe removed herמִגְּבִירָהfrom queen motherאֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָהwhich didלָאֲשֵׁרָהto Asherah poleמִפְלָצֶתan abominable imageוַיִּכְרֹתand madeאָסָאAsaאֶת־מִפְלַצְתָּהּher abominable imageוַיָּדֶקand he crushed itוַיִּשְׂרֹףand he burntבְּנַחַלin the river ofקִדְרוֹן׃Kidron

    And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

17. 17

    וְהַבָּמוֹתand the high placesלֹא־סָרוּnot were taken awayמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלfrom Israelרַקonlyלְבַב־אָסָאhearts of Asaהָיָהwasשָׁלֵםperfectכׇּל־יָמָיו׃all his days

    But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18. 18

    וַיָּבֵאand he broughtאֶת־קׇדְשֵׁיthe holy things ofאָבִיוhis fatherוְקׇדָשָׁיוand his own holy thingsבֵּיתthe house ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodכֶּסֶףsilverוְזָהָבand goldוְכֵלִים׃and utensils

    And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19. 19

    וּמִלְחָמָהand warלֹאnotהָיָתָהshall it come to passעַדuntilשְׁנַת־שְׁלֹשִׁיםyear of thirtyוְחָמֵשׁand fiveלְמַלְכוּתof reign ofאָסָא׃Asa

    And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
