   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּהָכִיןke/ha/KHINwhen was establishedמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamוּכְחֶזְקָתוֹu/khe/chez/ka/TOand when he was strongעָזַבa/ZAVhe forsookאֶת־תּוֹרַתet-to/RATthe law ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-yis/ra/ELand all Israelעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

   And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַחֲמִישִׁיתha/cha/mi/SHITthe fifthלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhof KingרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamעָלָהa/LAcame upשִׁישַׁקShi/SHAKShishakמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptעַל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםal-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimagainst Jerusalemכִּיkiforמָעֲלוּma/a/LUthey acted unfaithfullyבַּיהֹוָה׃ba-Adonaiagainst the LORD

   And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,

   בְּאֶלֶףbe/E/lefwith a thousandוּמָאתַיִםu/ma/TA/yimand two hundredרֶכֶבRE/khevchariotsוּבְשִׁשִּׁיםu/ve/shish/SHIMand with sixtyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandפָּרָשִׁיםpa/ra/SHIMhorsemenוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noמִסְפָּרmis/PARnumberלָעָםla/AMto the peopleאֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּa/SHER-BA/uwho cameעִמּוֹim/MOwith himמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of EgyptלוּבִיםLu/VIMLibyansסֻכִּיִּיםSuk/kiy/YIMSukkitesוְכוּשִׁים׃ve/Khu/SHIMand Cushites

   With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

   וַיִּלְכֹּדvay/yil/KODand he capturedאֶת־עָרֵיet-a/REthe cities ofהַמְּצֻרוֹתham/me/tsu/ROTthe fortificationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat belongedלִיהוּדָהlI/hu/DAto Judahוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameעַד־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃ad-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalem

   And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

   וּשְׁמַעְיָהu/She/ma/YAand Shemaiahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetבָּאbacameאֶל־רְחַבְעָםel-Re/chav/AMto Rehoboamוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand the princes ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֲשֶׁר־נֶאֶסְפוּa/SHER-ne/es/FUwho had gatheredאֶל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםel-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofשִׁישָׁקShi/SHAKShishakוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַתֶּםat/TEMyouעֲזַבְתֶּםa/zav/TEMyou have forsakenאֹתִיo/TIMeוְאַף־אֲנִיve/AF-a/NItherefore I alsoעָזַבְתִּיa/ZAV/tihave leftאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּיַד־שִׁישָׁק׃be/YAD-shi/SHAKin the hand of Shishak

   Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

   וַיִּכָּנְעוּvay/yik/ka/ne/Uand humbled themselvesשָׂרֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלsa/RE-Yis/ra/ELthe princes of Israelוְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

7. 7

   וּבִרְאוֹתu/vir/OTand when sawיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkithatנִכְנָעוּnikh/NA/uthey had humbled themselvesהָיָהha/YAcameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־שְׁמַעְיָהel-She/ma/YAto Shemaiahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingנִכְנְעוּnikh/ne/Uthey have humbled themselvesלֹאlonotאַשְׁחִיתֵםash/chi/TEMI will destroy themוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIbut I will grantלָהֶםla/HEMto themכִּמְעַטkim/ATa littleלִפְלֵיטָהlif/le/TAdeliveranceוְלֹא־תִתַּךְve/LO-tit/TAKHand shall not be poured outחֲמָתִיcha/ma/TIMy wrathבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemבְּיַד־שִׁישָׁק׃be/YAD-shi/SHAKin the hand of Shishak

   And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

   כִּיkibutיִהְיוּ־לוֹyih/YU-lothey shall be hisלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMservantsוְיֵדְעוּve/yed/Uthat they may knowעֲבוֹדָתִיa/vo/da/TIMy serviceוַעֲבוֹדַתva/a/vo/DATand the service ofמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofהָאֲרָצוֹת׃ha/a/ra/TSOTthe lands

   Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

   וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he came upשִׁישַׁקShi/SHAKShishakמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptעַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםal-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimagainst Jerusalemוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־אֹצְרוֹתet-ots/ROTthe treasures ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהbet-Adonaithe house of the LORDוְאֶת־אֹצְרוֹתve/ET-ots/ROTand the treasures ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLeverythingלָקָחla/KACHhe tookוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־מָגִנֵּיet-ma/gin/NEthe shields ofהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVgoldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂהa/SAhad madeשְׁלֹמֹה׃She/lo/MOSolomon

   So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand madeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamתַּחְתֵּיהֶםtach/te/HEMin their placeמָגִנֵּיma/gin/NEshields ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeוְהִפְקִידve/hif/KIDand committed themעַל־יַדal-yadto the hand ofשָׂרֵיsa/REthe commanders ofהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe runnersהַשֹּׁמְרִיםhash/shom/RIMwho keptפֶּתַחPE/tachthe door ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִדֵּי־בוֹאmid/DE-voas often as enteredהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבֵּיתbetthe house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבָּאוּBA/ucameהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe runnersוּנְשָׂאוּםu/ne/sa/UMand carried themוֶהֱשִׁבוּםve/he/shi/VUMand brought them backאֶל־תָּאel-tato the guardroom ofהָרָצִים׃ha/ra/TSIMthe runners

    And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

12. 12

    וּבְהִכָּנְעוֹu/ve/hik/ka/ne/Oand when he humbled himselfשָׁבshavturnedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himאַף־יְהֹוָהaf-Adonaithe anger of the LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notלְהַשְׁחִיתle/hash/CHITto destroyלְכָלָהle/kha/LAcompletelyוְגַםve/GAMand alsoבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judahהָיָהha/YAthere wereדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsטוֹבִים׃to/VIMgood

    And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

13. 13

    וַיִּתְחַזֵּקvay/yit/chaz/ZEKso strengthened himselfהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedכִּיkiforבֶן־אַרְבָּעִיםven-ar/ba/IMa son of fortyוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand oneשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamבְּמׇלְכוֹbe/mol/KHOwhen he began to reignוּשְׁבַע־עֶשְׂרֵהu/she/VA-es/REand seventeenשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁר־בָּחַרa/SHER-ba/CHARthat had chosenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOHis nameשָׁםshamthereמִכֹּלmik/KOLout of allשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherנַעֲמָהNa/a/MANaamahהָעַמֹּנִית׃ha/Am/mo/NITthe Ammonite woman

    So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

14. 14

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didהָרָעha/RAevilכִּיkiforלֹאlonotהֵכִיןhe/KHINsetלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartלִדְרוֹשׁlid/ROSHto seekאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

    And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

15. 15

    וְדִבְרֵיve/div/REand the acts ofרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMthe firstוְהָאַחֲרוֹנִיםve/ha/a/cha/ro/NIMand the lastהֲלֹא־הֵםha/LO-hemare they notכְּתוּבִיםke/tu/VIMare writtenבְּדִבְרֵיbe/div/REin the words ofשְׁמַעְיָהShe/ma/YAShemaiahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetוְעִדּוֹve/Id/DOand Iddoהַחֹזֶהha/cho/ZEthe seerלְהִתְיַחֵשׂle/hit/ya/CHESby genealogyוּמִלְחֲמוֹתu/mil/cha/MOTand the wars ofרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamוְיָרׇבְעָםve/Ya/rov/AMand Jeroboamכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃kol-hay/ya/MIMall the days

    Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

16. 16

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּעִירbe/IRin the city ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedאֲבִיָּהA/viy/YAAbijahבְנוֹve/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
