   וּפְלִשְׁתִּיםnow-the-Philistinesנִלְחָמִיםfightingבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלagainst-Israelוַיָּנֻסוּand-fledאַנְשֵׁיthe-men-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמִפְּנֵיbecause-ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesוַיִּפְּלוּand-they-fellחֲלָלִיםslainבְּהַרon-the-mount-ofהַגִּלְבֹּעַ׃Gilboa

   Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

   וַיַּדְבְּקוּand-followed-hard-afterפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesאֶת־שָׁאוּלSaulוְאֶת־בָּנָיוand-his-sonsוַיַּכּוּand-slewפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesאֶת־יְהוֹנָתָןJonathanוְאֶת־אֲבִינָדָבand-Abinadabוְאֶת־מַלְכִּישׁוּעַand-Malchi-shuaבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofשָׁאוּל׃Saul

   And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, Saul's sons.

   וַתִּכְבַּדand-went-soreהַמִּלְחָמָהthe-battleאֶל־שָׁאוּלagainst-Saulוַיִּמְצָאֻהוּand-hit-himהַמּוֹרִיםthe-archersאֲנָשִׁיםmenבַּקָּשֶׁתwith-the-bowוַיָּחֶלand-he-was-sore-woundedמְאֹדexceedinglyמֵהַמּוֹרִים׃of-the-archers

   And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.

   וַיֹּאמֶרand-saidשָׁאוּלSaulלְנֹשֵׂאto-the-bearer-ofכֵלָיוhis-armorשְׁלֹףdrawחַרְבְּךָyour-swordוְדׇקְרֵנִיand-thrust-me-throughבָהּin-itפֶּן־יָבוֹאוּlest-comeהָעֲרֵלִיםthe-uncircumcisedהָאֵלֶּהtheseוּדְקָרֻנִיand-thrust-me-throughוְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־בִיand-abuse-meוְלֹאand-notאָבָהwouldנֹשֵׂאbearingכֵלָיוhis-armorכִּיforיָרֵאhe-was-sore-afraidמְאֹדexceedinglyוַיִּקַּחand-tookשָׁאוּלSaulאֶת־הַחֶרֶבa-swordוַיִּפֹּלand-fellעָלֶיהָ׃upon-it

   Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

   וַיַּרְאand-sawנֹשֵׂא־כֵלָיוhis-armorbearerכִּיthatמֵתwas-deadשָׁאוּלSaulוַיִּפֹּלand-fellגַּם־הוּאlikewiseעַל־חַרְבּוֹupon-his-swordוַיָּמׇתand-he-diedעִמּוֹ׃with-him

   And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.

   וַיָּמׇתand-diedשָׁאוּלSaulוּשְׁלֹשֶׁתand-the-threeבָּנָיוhis-sonsוְנֹשֵׂאand-the-bearer-ofכֵלָיוhis-armorגַּםandכׇּל־אֲנָשָׁיוall-his-menבַּיּוֹםin-the-dayהַהוּאthatיַחְדָּו׃together

   So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

   וַיִּרְאוּand-sawאַנְשֵׁי־יִשְׂרָאֵלthe-men-of-Israelאֲשֶׁר־בְּעֵבֶרwho-were-on-the-other-side-ofהָעֵמֶקthe-valleyוַאֲשֶׁרand-whichבְּעֵבֶרon-the-other-side-ofהַיַּרְדֵּןthe-Jordanכִּי־נָסוּbecause-had-fledאַנְשֵׁיthe-men-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְכִי־מֵתוּand-that-were-deadשָׁאוּלSaulוּבָנָיוand-his-sonsוַיַּעַזְבוּthat-they-forsookאֶת־הֶעָרִיםthe-citiesוַיָּנֻסוּand-they-fledוַיָּבֹאוּand-they-cameפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesוַיֵּשְׁבוּand-dweltבָּהֶן׃in-them

   And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

   וַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passמִמׇּחֳרָתfrom-the-next-day-ofוַיָּבֹאוּand-they-cameפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesלְפַשֵּׁטto-stripאֶת־הַחֲלָלִיםthe-slainוַיִּמְצְאוּand-they-discoveredאֶת־שָׁאוּלSaulוְאֶת־שְׁלֹשֶׁתand-three-ofבָּנָיוhis-sonsנֹפְלִיםfallenבְּהַרon-the-mount-ofהַגִּלְבֹּעַ׃Gilboa

   And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

   וַיִּכְרְתוּand-they-cut-offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹhis-headוַיַּפְשִׁטוּand-stripped-offאֶת־כֵּלָיוhis-armorוַיְשַׁלְּחוּand-sentבְאֶרֶץ־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםinto-the-land-of-the-Philistinesסָבִיבall-aroundלְבַשֵּׂרto-publish-it-inבֵּיתthe-house-ofעֲצַבֵּיהֶםtheir-idolsוְאֶת־הָעָם׃and-the-people

   And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.

    וַיָּשִׂימוּand-they-putאֶת־כֵּלָיוhis-armorבֵּיתthe-house-ofעַשְׁתָּרוֹתAshtarothוְאֶת־גְּוִיָּתוֹand-his-bodyתָּקְעוּthey-fastenedבְּחוֹמַתto-the-wall-ofבֵּיתBeth-שָׁן׃shan

    And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּand-they-heardאֵלָיוto-himיֹשְׁבֵיthe-inhabitants-ofיָבֵישׁJabesh-גִּלְעָדgileadאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּthat-which-they-didפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesלְשָׁאוּל׃to-Saul

    And when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;

    וַיָּקוּמוּand-aroseכׇּל־אִישׁall-the-valiantחַיִלmenוַיֵּלְכוּand-they-wentכׇל־הַלַּיְלָהall-the-nightוַיִּקְחוּand-they-tookאֶת־גְּוִיַּתthe-body-ofשָׁאוּלSaulוְאֵתandגְּוִיֹּתthe-bodies-ofבָּנָיוhis-sonsמֵחוֹמַתfrom-the-wall-ofבֵּיתBeth-שָׁןshanוַיָּבֹאוּand-they-cameיָבֵשָׁהto-Jabeshוַיִּשְׂרְפוּand-they-burnedאֹתָםthemשָׁם׃there

    All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

    וַיִּקְחוּand-they-tookאֶת־עַצְמֹתֵיהֶםtheir-bonesוַיִּקְבְּרוּand-they-buriedתַחַת־הָאֶשֶׁלunder-the-tamarisk-treeבְּיָבֵשָׁהat-Jabeshוַיָּצֻמוּand-they-fastedשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days

    And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
