1. 1

   And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

   וְהַבַּיִתand the houseאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּנָהbuiltהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonלַיהֹוָהto the LORDשִׁשִּׁים־אַמָּהsixty cubitsאׇרְכּוֹits lengthוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyרׇחְבּוֹits widthוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםand thirtyאַמָּהcubitsקוֹמָתוֹ׃its height

   And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

   וְהָאוּלָםand the porchעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofהֵיכַלthe temple ofהַבַּיִתthe houseעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyאַמָּהcubitsאׇרְכּוֹits lengthעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofרֹחַבthe breadth ofהַבָּיִתthe houseעֶשֶׂרtenבָּאַמָּהby the cubitרׇחְבּוֹits widthעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofהַבָּיִת׃the house

   And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

   וַיַּעַשׂand he madeלַבָּיִתfor the houseחַלּוֹנֵיwindows ofשְׁקֻפִיםframesאֲטוּמִים׃closed

   And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

   וַיִּבֶןand builtעַל־קִירupon the wall ofהַבַּיִתthe house(יצוע)[יָצִיעַ]extensionסָבִיבall aroundאֶת־קִירוֹתthe walls ofהַבַּיִתthe houseסָבִיבall aroundלַהֵיכׇלthe templeוְלַדְּבִירand the innermost roomוַיַּעַשׂand he madeצְלָעוֹתside chambersסָבִיב׃all around

   And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

   [הַיָּצִיעַ]the extensionהַתַּחְתֹּנָהthe lowerחָמֵשׁfiveבָּאַמָּהby the cubitרׇחְבָּהּit was broadוְהַתִּיכֹנָהand the middle extensionשֵׁשׁsixבָּאַמָּהby the cubitרׇחְבָּהּit was broadוְהַשְּׁלִישִׁיתand the third extensionשֶׁבַעsevenבָּאַמָּהby the cubitרׇחְבָּהּit was broadכִּיforמִגְרָעוֹתledgesנָתַןgaveלַבַּיִתfor the houseסָבִיבall aroundחוּצָהoutsideלְבִלְתִּיto notאֲחֹזto have holdבְּקִירוֹת־הַבָּיִת׃in the walls of the house

   The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

   וְהַבַּיִתand the houseבְּהִבָּנֹתוֹwhen it was builtאֶבֶן־שְׁלֵמָהstone completeמַסָּעquarryנִבְנָהwas it builtוּמַקָּבוֹתand hammersוְהַגַּרְזֶןand the axeכׇּל־כְּלִיany tool ofבַרְזֶלironלֹא־נִשְׁמַעnot was heardבַּבַּיִתin the houseבְּהִבָּנֹתוֹ׃when it was built

   And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

   פֶּתַחdoor ofהַצֵּלָעthe chamberהַתִּיכֹנָהthe middleאֶל־כֶּתֶףto the shoulder ofהַבַּיִתthe houseהַיְמָנִיתthe rightוּבְלוּלִּיםand by stairsיַעֲלוּthey go upעַל־הַתִּיכֹנָהupon the middleוּמִן־הַתִּיכֹנָהand from the middleאֶל־הַשְּׁלִשִׁים׃into the third

   The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.

9. 9

   וַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseוַיְכַלֵּהוּand he finished itוַיִּסְפֹּןand he coveredאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseגֵּבִיםbeamsוּשְׂדֵרֹתand planksבָּאֲרָזִים׃with cedar

   So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

10. 10

    וַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־[הַיָּצִיעַ]the extensionעַל־כׇּל־הַבַּיִתupon all the houseחָמֵשׁfiveאַמּוֹתcubitsקוֹמָתוֹits heightוַיֶּאֱחֹזand he took holdאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseבַּעֲצֵיwith the wood ofאֲרָזִים׃cedars

    And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיand it came to passדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֶל־שְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonלֵאמֹר׃saying

    And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying,

12. 12

    הַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youבֹנֶהare buildingאִם־תֵּלֵךְif should goבְּחֻקֹּתַיin my statutesוְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַיand my judgmentsתַּעֲשֶׂהyou makeוְשָׁמַרְתָּand you will keepאֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֺתַיall my commandmentsלָלֶכֶתto goבָּהֶםin themוַהֲקִמֹתִיand I will establishאֶת־דְּבָרִיmy wordאִתָּךְwith youאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבַּרְתִּיI have spokenאֶל־דָּוִדto Davidאָבִיךָ׃your father

    Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

13. 13

    וְשָׁכַנְתִּיand I will dwellבְּתוֹךְamongבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְלֹאand notאֶעֱזֹבI will forsakeאֶת־עַמִּיmy peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14. 14

    וַיִּבֶןand builtשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseוַיְכַלֵּהוּ׃and he finished it

    So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

15. 15

    וַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־קִירוֹתthe walls ofהַבַּיִתthe houseמִבַּיְתָהfrom insideבְּצַלְעוֹתwith boards ofאֲרָזִיםcedarsמִקַּרְקַעfrom the floor ofהַבַּיִתthe houseעַד־קִירוֹתunto the walls ofהַסִּפֻּןthe ceilingצִפָּהhe overlaidעֵץwoodמִבָּיִתfrom insideוַיְצַףand he overlaidאֶת־קַרְקַעthe floor ofהַבַּיִתthe houseבְּצַלְעוֹתwith boards ofבְּרוֹשִׁים׃cypresses

    And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.

16. 16

    וַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־עֶשְׂרִיםtwentyאַמָּהcubits[מִיַּרְכְּתֵי]from the innermost parts ofהַבַּיִתthe houseבְּצַלְעוֹתwith boards ofאֲרָזִיםcedarsמִן־הַקַּרְקַעfrom the floorעַד־הַקִּירוֹתuntil the wallsוַיִּבֶןand builtלוֹto himמִבַּיִתfrom the houseלִדְבִירto an innermost roomלְקֹדֶשׁto the holy place ofהַקֳּדָשִׁים׃the holy things

    And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.

17. 17

    וְאַרְבָּעִיםand fortyבָּאַמָּהby the cubitהָיָהwasהַבָּיִתthe houseהוּאheהַהֵיכׇלthe templeלִפְנָי׃in front

    And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.

18. 18

    וְאֶרֶזand cedarאֶל־הַבַּיִתto the houseפְּנִימָהinsideמִקְלַעַתcarving ofפְּקָעִיםgourdsוּפְטוּרֵיand spread out things ofצִצִּיםflowersהַכֹּלeverythingאֶרֶזcedarאֵיןthere is noאֶבֶןstoneנִרְאָה׃appeared

    And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

19. 19

    וּדְבִירand an innermost roomבְּתוֹךְ־הַבַּיִתamong the houseמִפְּנִימָהfrom withinהֵכִיןpreparedלְתִתֵּןto putשָׁםthereאֶת־אֲרוֹןthe ark ofבְּרִיתcovenant ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

20. 20

    וְלִפְנֵיand beforeהַדְּבִירthe innermost roomעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyאַמָּהcubitsאֹרֶךְthe length ofוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyאַמָּהcubitsרֹחַבthe breadth ofוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyאַמָּהcubitsקוֹמָתוֹits heightוַיְצַפֵּהוּand he overlaid itזָהָבgoldסָגוּרpureוַיְצַףand he overlaidמִזְבֵּחַan altarאָרֶז׃cedar

    And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar.

21. 21

    וַיְצַףand overlaidשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseמִפְּנִימָהfrom withinזָהָבgoldסָגוּרpureוַיְעַבֵּרand he made pass[בְּרַתּוּקוֹת]with chains ofזָהָבgoldלִפְנֵיbeforeהַדְּבִירthe innermost roomוַיְצַפֵּהוּand he overlaid itזָהָב׃gold

    So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.

22. 22

    וְאֶת־כׇּל־הַבַּיִתand all the houseצִפָּהhe overlaidזָהָבgoldעַד־תֹּםuntil the endכׇּל־הַבָּיִתall the houseוְכׇל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַand all the altarאֲשֶׁר־לַדְּבִירwhich to the innermost roomצִפָּהhe overlaidזָהָב׃gold

    And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23. 23

    וַיַּעַשׂand he madeבַּדְּבִירin the innermost roomשְׁנֵיtwoכְרוּבִיםcherubimעֲצֵי־שָׁמֶןolive woodעֶשֶׂרtenאַמּוֹתcubitsקוֹמָתוֹ׃its height

    And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high.

24. 24

    וְחָמֵשׁand fiveאַמּוֹתcubitsכְּנַףthe skirt ofהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהָאֶחָתthe oneוְחָמֵשׁand fiveאַמּוֹתcubitsכְּנַףthe skirt ofהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהַשֵּׁנִיתthe secondעֶשֶׂרtenאַמּוֹתcubitsמִקְצוֹתfrom the ends ofכְּנָפָיוhis wingsוְעַד־קְצוֹתand unto the ends ofכְּנָפָיו׃his wings

    And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

25. 25

    וְעֶשֶׂרand tenבָּאַמָּהby the cubitהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהַשֵּׁנִיthe secondמִדָּהsizeאַחַתoneוְקֶצֶבand a shapeאֶחָדoneלִשְׁנֵיin twoהַכְּרֻבִים׃the cherubim

    And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size.

26. 26

    קוֹמַתthe height ofהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהָאֶחָד־עֶשֶׂרthe elevenבָּאַמָּהby the cubitוְכֵןand soהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהַשֵּׁנִי׃the second

    The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.

27. 27

    וַיִּתֵּןand gaveאֶת־הַכְּרוּבִיםthe cherubimבְּתוֹךְamongהַבַּיִתthe houseהַפְּנִימִיthe innerוַיִּפְרְשׂוּand they spread outאֶת־כַּנְפֵיwings ofהַכְּרֻבִיםthe cherubimוַתִּגַּעand it touchedכְּנַף־הָאֶחָדthe skirt of the oneבַּקִּירin the wallוּכְנַףand the wing ofהַכְּרוּבthe cherubהַשֵּׁנִיthe secondנֹגַעַתwas about to touchבַּקִּירin the wallהַשֵּׁנִיthe secondוְכַנְפֵיהֶםand their wingsאֶל־תּוֹךְdown intoהַבַּיִתthe houseנֹגְעֹתwere touchingכָּנָףthe wingאֶל־כָּנָף׃to the wing

    And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

28. 28

    וַיְצַףand he overlaidאֶת־הַכְּרוּבִיםthe cherubimזָהָב׃gold

    And he overlaid the cherubims with gold.

29. 29

    וְאֵתandכׇּל־קִירוֹתall the walls ofהַבַּיִתthe houseמֵסַבround aboutקָלַעhe carvedפִּתּוּחֵיthe engravings ofמִקְלְעוֹתcarvings ofכְּרוּבִיםcherubimוְתִמֹרֹתand palm treesוּפְטוּרֵיand spread out things ofצִצִּיםflowersמִלִּפְנִיםwithinוְלַחִיצוֹן׃and to the outer

    And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.

30. 30

    וְאֶת־קַרְקַעand the floor ofהַבַּיִתthe houseצִפָּהhe overlaidזָהָבgoldלִפְנִימָהto withinוְלַחִיצוֹן׃and to the outer

    And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

31. 31

    וְאֵתandפֶּתַחdoor ofהַדְּבִירthe innermost roomעָשָׂהhe didדַּלְתוֹתthe doors ofעֲצֵי־שָׁמֶןolive woodהָאַיִלthe lintelמְזוּזוֹתthe doorposts ofחֲמִשִׁית׃five-sided

    And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.

32. 32

    וּשְׁתֵּיand twoדַּלְתוֹתthe doors ofעֲצֵי־שֶׁמֶןolive woodוְקָלַעand he carvedעֲלֵיהֶםupon themמִקְלְעוֹתcarvings ofכְּרוּבִיםcherubimוְתִמֹרֹתand palm treesוּפְטוּרֵיand spread out things ofצִצִּיםflowersוְצִפָּהand he overlaidזָהָבgoldוַיָּרֶדand he spreadעַל־הַכְּרוּבִיםupon the cherubimוְעַל־הַתִּמֹרוֹתand upon the palm treesאֶת־הַזָּהָב׃the gold

    The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.

33. 33

    וְכֵןand soעָשָׂהhe didלְפֶתַחfor the entrance ofהַהֵיכׇלthe templeמְזוּזוֹתthe doorposts ofעֲצֵי־שָׁמֶןolive woodמֵאֵתfromרְבִעִית׃foursquare

    So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.

34. 34

    וּשְׁתֵּיand twoדַלְתוֹתdoors ofעֲצֵיthe trees ofבְרוֹשִׁיםfir treesשְׁנֵיtwoצְלָעִיםsidesהַדֶּלֶתthe doorהָאַחַתthe oneגְּלִילִיםwere revolvingוּשְׁנֵיand the twoקְלָעִיםleavesהַדֶּלֶתthe doorהַשֵּׁנִיתthe secondגְּלִילִים׃were revolving

    And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

35. 35

    וְקָלַעand he carvedכְּרוּבִיםcherubimוְתִמֹרוֹתand palm treesוּפְטֻרֵיand spread out things ofצִצִּיםflowersוְצִפָּהand he overlaidזָהָבgoldמְיֻשָּׁרmade smoothעַל־הַמְּחֻקֶּה׃upon the carved work

    And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

36. 36

    וַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־הֶחָצֵרthe courtyardהַפְּנִימִיתthe innerשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeטוּרֵיrows ofגָזִיתhewn stoneוְטוּרand a row ofכְּרֻתֹתbeams ofאֲרָזִים׃cedars

    And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37. 37

    בַּשָּׁנָהin the yearהָרְבִיעִיתthe fourthיֻסַּדit was foundedבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּיֶרַחin the month ofזִו׃Ziv

    In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:

38. 38

    וּבַשָּׁנָהand in the yearהָאַחַת־עֶשְׂרֵהthe elevenבְּיֶרַחin the month ofבּוּלBulהוּאheהַחֹדֶשׁthe monthהַשְּׁמִינִיthe eighthכָּלָהit was finishedהַבַּיִתthe houseלְכׇל־דְּבָרָיוin all its partsוּלְכׇל־מִשְׁפָּטָוand according to all its fashionוַיִּבְנֵהוּand he built itשֶׁבַעsevenשָׁנִים׃years

    And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
