1. 1

   וּשְׁלֹמֹהand Solomonהָיָהwasמוֹשֵׁלrulerבְּכׇל־הַמַּמְלָכוֹתin all the kingdomsמִן־הַנָּהָרfrom the riverאֶרֶץthe land ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPhilistinesוְעַדand untoגְּבוּלborder ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptמַגִּשִׁיםthey were bringingמִנְחָהpresentsוְעֹבְדִיםand servedאֶת־שְׁלֹמֹהSolomonכׇּל־יְמֵיall days ofחַיָּיו׃his life

   And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passלֶחֶם־שְׁלֹמֹהbread Solomonלְיוֹםto dayאֶחָדoneשְׁלֹשִׁיםthirtyכֹּרcors ofסֹלֶתfine flourוְשִׁשִּׁיםand sixtyכֹּרcors ofקָמַח׃flour

   And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

   עֲשָׂרָהtenבָקָרherdבְּרִאִיםfatוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyבָּקָרof the herdרְעִיpastureוּמֵאָהand one hundredצֹאןflocksלְבַדaloneמֵאַיָּלfrom deerוּצְבִיand a gazelleוְיַחְמוּרand a roe deerוּבַרְבֻּרִיםand birdsאֲבוּסִים׃fattened

   Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

   כִּי־הוּאbecause it isרֹדֶהhe who reignedבְּכׇל־עֵבֶרin all sideהַנָּהָרthe riverמִתִּפְסַחfrom Tiphsahוְעַד־עַזָּהand unto Gazaבְּכׇל־מַלְכֵיin all the kings ofעֵבֶרsideהַנָּהָרthe riverוְשָׁלוֹםand peaceהָיָהwasלוֹto himמִכׇּל־עֲבָרָיוfrom all his sidesמִסָּבִיב׃all around

   For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

   וַיֵּשֶׁבand he satיְהוּדָהJudahוְיִשְׂרָאֵלand Israelלָבֶטַחin safetyאִישׁevery manתַּחַתunderגַּפְנוֹhis own vineוְתַחַתand underתְּאֵנָתוֹhis own fig treeמִדָּןfrom Danוְעַד־בְּאֵרand unto Beer-שָׁבַעshebaכֹּלallיְמֵיthe days ofשְׁלֹמֹה׃Solomon

   And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

6. 6

   וַיְהִיand it came to passלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonאַרְבָּעִיםfortyאֶלֶףthousandאֻרְוֺתstallsסוּסִיםhorsesלְמֶרְכָּבוֹfor his chariotryוּשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרand twelveאֶלֶףthousandפָּרָשִׁים׃horsemen

   And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

   וְכִלְכְּלוּand they suppliedהַנִּצָּבִיםthe those appointedהָאֵלֶּהtheseאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְthe kingשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonוְאֵתandכׇּל־הַקָּרֵבall the approachingאֶל־שֻׁלְחַןto the table ofהַמֶּלֶךְ־שְׁלֹמֹהthe king Solomonאִישׁevery manחׇדְשׁוֹhis monthלֹאnotיְעַדְּרוּthey left lackingדָּבָר׃a thing

   And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

8. 8

   וְהַשְּׂעֹרִיםand the barleyוְהַתֶּבֶןand the strawלַסּוּסִיםfor the horsesוְלָרָכֶשׁand for the steedsיָבִאוּthey broughtאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםunto the placeאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶה־שָּׁםthere wereאִישׁevery manכְּמִשְׁפָּטוֹ׃according to that which is his due

   Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

9. 9

   וַיִּתֵּןand gaveאֱלֹהִיםGodחׇכְמָהwisdomלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonוּתְבוּנָהand understandingהַרְבֵּהmuchמְאֹדexceedinglyוְרֹחַבand the breadthלֵבheartכַּחוֹלlike the sandאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־שְׂפַתupon the shore ofהַיָּם׃the sea

   And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

10. 10

    וַתֵּרֶבand it was greatחׇכְמַתthe wisdom ofשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonמֵחׇכְמַתmore than the wisdom ofכׇּל־בְּנֵי־קֶדֶםall children of the eastוּמִכֹּלand of allחׇכְמַתthe wisdom ofמִצְרָיִם׃Egypt

    And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

11. 11

    וַיֶּחְכַּםand he was wiseמִכׇּל־הָאָדָםfrom all the manמֵאֵיתָןmore than Ethanהָאֶזְרָחִיthe Ezrahiteוְהֵימָןand Hemanוְכַלְכֹּלand Calcolוְדַרְדַּעand Dardaבְּנֵיthe sons ofמָחוֹלMaholוַיְהִי־שְׁמוֹand it came to pass his nameבְכׇל־הַגּוֹיִםin all the nationsסָבִיב׃all around

    For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

    וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeאֲלָפִיםthousandמָשָׁלproverbsוַיְהִיand it came to passשִׁירוֹhis poemsחֲמִשָּׁהfiveוָאָלֶף׃and one thousand

    And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

13. 13

    וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeעַל־הָעֵצִיםof the treesמִן־הָאֶרֶזfrom the cedarאֲשֶׁרwhichבַּלְּבָנוֹןin the Lebanonוְעַדand untoהָאֵזוֹבthe hyssopאֲשֶׁרwhichיֹצֵאgoing outבַּקִּירin the wallוַיְדַבֵּרand spokeעַל־הַבְּהֵמָהupon the livestockוְעַל־הָעוֹףand upon the birdsוְעַל־הָרֶמֶשׂand upon the creeping thingוְעַל־הַדָּגִים׃and upon the fish

    And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

    וַיָּבֹאוּand they cameמִכׇּל־הָעַמִּיםfrom all the peopleלִשְׁמֹעַto hearאֵת־חׇכְמַתthe wisdom ofשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonמֵאֵתfromכׇּל־מַלְכֵיall the kings ofהָאָרֶץthe earthאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁמְעוּthey heardאֶת־חׇכְמָתוֹ׃his wisdom

    And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentחִירָםHiramמֶלֶךְ־צוֹרking of Tyreאֶת־עֲבָדָיוhis servantsאֶל־שְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonכִּיbecauseשָׁמַעheardכִּיbecauseאֹתוֹhimמָשְׁחוּthey have anointedלְמֶלֶךְkingתַּחַתunderאָבִיהוּhis fatherכִּיbecauseאֹהֵבlovesהָיָהwasחִירָםHiramלְדָוִדof Davidכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃all the days

    And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

16. 16

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonאֶל־חִירָםto Hiramלֵאמֹר׃saying

    And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

17. 17

    אַתָּהyouיָדַעְתָּyou knowאֶת־דָּוִדDavidאָבִיmy fatherכִּיbecauseלֹאnotיָכֹלableלִבְנוֹתto buildבַּיִתhouseלְשֵׁםto the name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godמִפְּנֵיbecause ofהַמִּלְחָמָהthe battleאֲשֶׁרwhichסְבָבֻהוּthey had surrounded himעַדuntilתֵּת־יְהֹוָהthe LORD putאֹתָםthemתַּחַתunderכַּפּוֹתthe soles(רגלו)[רַגְלָי]׃my feet

    Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

18. 18

    וְעַתָּהand nowהֵנִיחַhas given restיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהַיmy Godלִיto meמִסָּבִיבall aroundאֵיןthere is noשָׂטָןadversaryוְאֵיןand there is noפֶּגַעis an occurrenceרָע׃evil

    But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

19. 19

    וְהִנְנִיand Iאֹמֵרsayלִבְנוֹתto buildבַּיִתhouseלְשֵׁםto the name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָיmy Godכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־דָּוִדto Davidאָבִיmy fatherלֵאמֹרsayingבִּנְךָyour sonאֲשֶׁרwhichאֶתֵּןI will giveתַּחְתֶּיךָbeneath youעַל־כִּסְאֶךָupon your throneהוּא־יִבְנֶהit is he will buildהַבַּיִתthe houseלִשְׁמִי׃to my name

    And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

20. 20

    וְעַתָּהand nowצַוֵּהcommandוְיִכְרְתוּ־לִיso they may make to meאֲרָזִיםcedarsמִן־הַלְּבָנוֹןfrom Lebanonוַעֲבָדַיand my servantsיִהְיוּshall beעִם־עֲבָדֶיךָwith your servantsוּשְׂכַרand the wages ofעֲבָדֶיךָyour servantsאֶתֵּןI will giveלְךָfor youכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁרwhichתֹּאמֵרyou will sayכִּיbecauseאַתָּהyouיָדַעְתָּyou knowכִּיbecauseאֵיןthere is noבָּנוּin usאִישׁevery manיֹדֵעַHe-knowsלִכְרׇת־עֵצִיםto cut small treesכַּצִּדֹנִים׃like the Zidonians

    Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַwhen heardחִירָםHiramאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe words ofשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonוַיִּשְׂמַחand rejoicedמְאֹדexceedinglyוַיֹּאמֶרand saidבָּרוּךְblessedיְהֹוָהthe LORDהַיּוֹםthe dayאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַןgaveלְדָוִדof Davidבֵּןa sonחָכָםwiseעַל־הָעָםover the peopleהָרָבthe greatהַזֶּה׃this

    And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.

22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentחִירָםHiramאֶל־שְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonלֵאמֹרsayingשָׁמַעְתִּיheardאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַחְתָּthat which you sentאֵלָיunto meאֲנִיIאֶעֱשֶׂהI doאֶת־כׇּל־חֶפְצְךָall your desireבַּעֲצֵיwith the wood ofאֲרָזִיםcedarsוּבַעֲצֵיand in wood ofבְרוֹשִׁים׃fir trees

    And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

23. 23

    עֲבָדַיmy servantsיֹרִדוּthey will bring them downמִן־הַלְּבָנוֹןfrom Lebanonיָמָּהwestwardוַאֲנִיand IאֲשִׂימֵםI will make themדֹּבְרוֹתraftsבַּיָּםin the seaעַד־הַמָּקוֹםuntil the placeאֲשֶׁר־תִּשְׁלַחwhich you shall send forthאֵלַיto meוְנִפַּצְתִּיםand I will break up themשָׁםthereוְאַתָּהand youתִשָּׂאtakeוְאַתָּהand youתַּעֲשֶׂהyou makeאֶת־חֶפְצִיmy desireלָתֵתto giveלֶחֶםbreadבֵּיתִי׃my house

    My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיand it came to passחִירוֹםHiramנֹתֵןgivingלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonעֲצֵיthe trees ofאֲרָזִיםcedarsוַעֲצֵיand wood ofבְרוֹשִׁיםfir treesכׇּל־חֶפְצוֹ׃all his desire

    So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

25. 25

    וּשְׁלֹמֹהand Solomonנָתַןgaveלְחִירָםto Hiramעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyאֶלֶףthousandכֹּרcors ofחִטִּיםwheatמַכֹּלֶתfoodלְבֵיתוֹto his houseוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyכֹּרcors ofשֶׁמֶןoilכָּתִיתpressedכֹּה־יִתֵּןthus shall giveשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonלְחִירָםto Hiramשָׁנָהyearבְשָׁנָה׃to year

    And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

26. 26

    וַיהֹוָהand the LORDנָתַןgaveחׇכְמָהwisdomלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּר־לוֹspoke himוַיְהִיand it came to passשָׁלֹםin peaceבֵּיןamongחִירָםHiramוּבֵיןand betweenשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonוַיִּכְרְתוּand they all entered intoבְרִיתa covenantשְׁנֵיהֶם׃the two

    And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

27. 27

    וַיַּעַלand raisedהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonמַסthe tribute ofמִכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלfrom all Israelוַיְהִיand it came to passהַמַּסthe tributeשְׁלֹשִׁיםthirtyאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁ׃men

    And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

28. 28

    וַיִּשְׁלָחֵםand he sent out themלְבָנוֹנָהto Lebanonעֲשֶׂרֶתtenאֲלָפִיםthousandבַּחֹדֶשׁin the monthחֲלִיפוֹתchanges ofחֹדֶשׁa month ofיִהְיוּshall beבַלְּבָנוֹןin Lebanonשְׁנַיִםtwoחֳדָשִׁיםmonthsבְּבֵיתוֹin his houseוַאֲדֹנִירָםand Adoniramעַל־הַמַּס׃upon the tribute

    And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיand it came to passלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonשִׁבְעִיםseventyאֶלֶףthousandנֹשֵׂאbearingסַבָּלburden bearersוּשְׁמֹנִיםand eightyאֶלֶףthousandחֹצֵבstone cuttersבָּהָר׃in the mountain

    And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;

30. 30

    לְבַדaloneמִשָּׂרֵיbesides the chief officers ofהַנִּצָּבִיםthe those appointedלִשְׁלֹמֹהto Solomonאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־הַמְּלָאכָהupon the taskשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeאֲלָפִיםthousandוּשְׁלֹשׁand threeמֵאוֹתhundredהָרֹדִיםthose who ruledבָּעָםover the peopleהָעֹשִׂיםthat were employed inבַּמְּלָאכָה׃the work

    Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

31. 31

    וַיְצַוand commandedהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingוַיַּסִּעוּand they quarriedאֲבָנִיםstonesגְּדֹלוֹתgreatאֲבָנִיםstonesיְקָרוֹתpreciousלְיַסֵּדto lay the foundation ofהַבָּיִתthe houseאַבְנֵיstones ofגָזִית׃hewn stone

    And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

32. 32

    וַיִּפְסְלוּand they cut them to shapeבֹּנֵיthe builders ofשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonוּבֹנֵיand the builders ofחִירוֹםHiramוְהַגִּבְלִיםand the Gebalitesוַיָּכִינוּand they preparedהָעֵצִיםthe timberוְהָאֲבָנִיםand the stonesלִבְנוֹתto buildהַבָּיִת׃the house

    And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
