   And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahלְהֵרָאוֹתle/he/ra/OTto show himselfאֶל־אַחְאָבel-Ach/AVto Ahabוְהָרָעָבve/ha/ra/AVand the famineחָזָקcha/ZAKwas severeבְּשֹׁמְרוֹן׃be/Shom/RONin Samaria

   And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabאֶל־עֹבַדְיָהוּel-O/vad/YA/huto Obadiahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wasעַל־הַבָּיִתal-hab/BA/yitover the householdוְעֹבַדְיָהוּve/O/vad/YA/huand Obadiahהָיָהha/YAwasיָרֵאya/REfearingאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDמְאֹד׃me/ODgreatly

   And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבְּהַכְרִיתbe/hakh/RITwhen cut offאִיזֶבֶלI/ZE/velJezebelאֵת־נְבִיאֵיet-ne/vi/Ethe prophets ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookעֹבַדְיָהוּO/vad/YA/huObadiahמֵאָהme/Aa hundredנְבִיאִיםne/vi/IMprophetsוַיַּחְבִּיאֵםvay/yach/bi/EMand hid themחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMby fiftyאִישׁishmenבַּמְּעָרָהbam/me/a/RAin a caveוְכִלְכְּלָםve/khil/ke/LAMand fed themלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוָמָיִם׃va/MA/yimand water

   For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

   And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

   So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

   And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himאָנִיA/niI amלֵךְlekhgoאֱמֹרe/MORsayלַאדֹנֶיךָla/do/NE/khato your lordהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵלִיָּהוּ׃E/liy/YA/huElijah

   And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֶהmewhatחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tihave I sinnedכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAthat youנֹתֵןno/TENare givingאֶת־עַבְדְּךָet-av/de/KHAyour servantבְּיַד־אַחְאָבbe/YAD-ach/AVinto the hand of Ahabלַהֲמִיתֵנִי׃la/ha/mi/TE/nito kill me

   And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

    חַיchayas livesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godאִם־יֶשׁ־גּוֹיim-yesh-goythere is no nationוּמַמְלָכָהu/mam/la/KHAand a kingdomאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereלֹא־שָׁלַחlo-sha/LACHhas not sentאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordשָׁםshamthereלְבַקֶּשְׁךָle/vak/kesh/KHAto seek youוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand when they saidאָיִןA/yinhe is notוְהִשְׁבִּיעַve/hish/BI/ahe made swearאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomוְאֶת־הַגּוֹיve/ET-hag/GOYand the nationכִּיkithatלֹאlonotיִמְצָאֶכָּה׃yim/tsa/EK/kathey had found you

    As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַתָּהat/TAyouאֹמֵרo/MERare sayingלֵךְlekhgoאֱמֹרe/MORsayלַאדֹנֶיךָla/do/NE/khato your lordהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵלִיָּהוּ׃E/liy/YA/huElijah

    And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

12. 12

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it will beאֲנִיa/NIIאֵלֵךְe/LEKHgoמֵאִתָּךְme/it/TAKHfrom youוְרוּחַve/RU/achthat the Spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיִשָּׂאֲךָyis/sa/a/KHAwill carry youעַלaltoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereלֹא־אֵדָעlo-e/DAI do not knowוּבָאתִיu/VA/tiand I comeלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלְאַחְאָבle/Ach/AVto Ahabוְלֹאve/LOand notיִמְצָאֲךָyim/tsa/a/KHAhe finds youוַהֲרָגָנִיva/ha/ra/GA/nithen he will kill meוְעַבְדְּךָve/av/de/KHAbut your servantיָרֵאya/REhas fearedאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDמִנְּעֻרָי׃min/ne/u/RAYfrom my youth

    And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

    Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַתָּהat/TAyouאֹמֵרo/MERare sayingלֵךְlekhgoאֱמֹרe/MORsayלַאדֹנֶיךָla/do/NE/khato your lordהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahוַהֲרָגָנִי׃va/ha/ra/GA/niand he will kill me

    And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahחַיchayas livesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomעָמַדְתִּיa/MAD/tiI standלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himכִּיkisurelyהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayאֵרָאֶהe/ra/EI will show myselfאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him to day.

16. 16

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentעֹבַדְיָהוּO/vad/YA/huObadiahלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabוַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetאֵלִיָּהוּ׃E/liy/YA/huElijah

    So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabאֶת־אֵלִיָּהוּet-E/liy/YA/huElijahוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youזֶהzethisעֹכֵרo/KHERtroubler ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonotעָכַרְתִּיa/KHAR/tiI have troubledאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelכִּיkibutאִם־אַתָּהim-at/TAyouוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherבַּעֲזׇבְכֶםba/a/zov/KHEMin your forsakingאֶת־מִצְוֺתet-mits/VOTthe commandments ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand you have goneאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַבְּעָלִים׃hab/Be/a/LIMthe Baalim

    And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

19. 19

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשְׁלַחshe/LACHsendקְבֹץke/VOTSgatherאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶת־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Kol-yis/ra/ELall Israelאֶל־הַרel-Harto MountהַכַּרְמֶלHak/kar/MELCarmelוְאֶת־נְבִיאֵיve/ET-ne/vi/Eand the prophets ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyוּנְבִיאֵיu/ne/vi/Eand the prophets ofהָאֲשֵׁרָהha/A/she/RAthe Asherahאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאֹכְלֵיokh/LEwho eat atשֻׁלְחַןshul/CHANthe table ofאִיזָבֶל׃I/ZA/velJezebel

    Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

20. 20

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabבְּכׇל־בְּנֵיbe/KHOL-be/NEamong all the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיִּקְבֹּץvay/yik/BOTSand he gatheredאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsאֶל־הַרel-Harto Mountהַכַּרְמֶל׃Hak/kar/MELCarmel

    So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

21. 21

    וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand came nearאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֶל־כׇּל־הָעָםel-kol-ha/AMto all the peopleוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYuntil whenאַתֶּםat/TEMwill youפֹּסְחִיםpos/CHIMbe limpingעַל־שְׁתּיal-shtybetween twoהַסְּעִפִּיםhas/se/ip/PIMopinionsאִם־יְהֹוָהim-Adonaiif the LORD isהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוְאִם־הַבַּעַלve/IM-hab/BA/albut if the Baalלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוְלֹא־עָנוּve/LO-a/NUand did not answerהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֹתוֹo/TOhimדָּבָר׃da/VARa word

    And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleאֲנִיa/NIIנוֹתַרְתִּיno/TAR/tiam leftנָבִיאna/VIa prophetלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiof the LORDלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneוּנְבִיאֵיu/ne/vi/Eand the prophets ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalאַרְבַּע־מֵאוֹתar/BA-me/OTfour hundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyאִישׁ׃ishmen

    Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

    וְיִתְּנוּ־לָנוּve/yit/te/NU-LA/nulet them give usשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoפָּרִיםpa/RIMbullsוְיִבְחֲרוּve/yiv/cha/RUand let them chooseלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesהַפָּרhap/PARbullהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneוִינַתְּחֻהוּvi/nat/te/CHU/huand cut it in piecesוְיָשִׂימוּve/ya/SI/muand lay itעַל־הָעֵצִיםal-ha/e/TSIMupon the woodוְאֵשׁve/ESHand fireלֹאlonotיָשִׂימוּya/SI/mulet them putוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEwill prepareאֶת־הַפָּרet-hap/PARbullהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand lay itעַל־הָעֵצִיםal-ha/e/TSIMupon the woodוְאֵשׁve/ESHand fireלֹאlonotאָשִׂים׃a/SIMshall I put

    Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:

24. 24

    וּקְרָאתֶםu/ke/ra/TEMand callבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour godוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֶקְרָאek/RAI will call onבְשֵׁם־יְהֹוָהve/SHEM-Adonaiin the name of the LORDוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMthe godאֲשֶׁר־יַעֲנֶהa/SHER-ya/a/NEwho answersבָאֵשׁva/ESHby fireהוּאhuHe isהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidטוֹבtovgood isהַדָּבָר׃had/da/VARthe word

    And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahלִנְבִיאֵיlin/vi/Eto the prophets ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalבַּחֲרוּba/cha/RUchooseלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesהַפָּרhap/PARbullהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneוַעֲשׂוּva/a/SUand prepare itרִאשֹׁנָהri/sho/NAfirstכִּיkiforאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areהָרַבִּיםha/rab/BIMmanyוְקִרְאוּve/kir/Uand callבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour godוְאֵשׁve/ESHand fireלֹאlonotתָשִׂימוּ׃ta/SI/muput

    And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.

    וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־הַפָּרet-hap/PARthe bullאֲשֶׁר־נָתַןa/SHER-na/TANthat he gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they prepared itוַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledבְשֵׁם־הַבַּעַלve/SHEM-hab/BA/alin the name of Baalמֵהַבֹּקֶרme/hab/BO/kerfrom the morningוְעַד־הַצׇּהֳרַיִםve/AD-hats/tso/ho/RA/yimand to the noonלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַבַּעַלhab/BA/alO Baalעֲנֵנוּa/NE/nuanswer usוְאֵיןve/ENbut there was noקוֹלkolvoiceוְאֵיןve/ENand noעֹנֶהo/NEone answeringוַיְפַסְּחוּvay/fas/se/CHUand they limped aroundעַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַal-ham/miz/BE/achupon the altarאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂה׃a/SAhad been made

    And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַצׇּהֳרַיִםvats/tso/ho/RA/yimat noonוַיְהַתֵּלvay/hat/TELand he mockedבָּהֶםba/HEMthemאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקִרְאוּkir/Ucallבְקוֹל־גָּדוֹלve/KOL-ga/DOLwith a loud voiceכִּי־אֱלֹהִיםki-e/lo/HIMfor a godהוּאhuhe isכִּיkiforשִׂיחַSI/achmusingוְכִי־שִׂיגve/KHI-sigor gone asideלוֹlohe isוְכִי־דֶרֶךְve/KHI-DE/rekhor on a journeyלוֹlohe isאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיָשֵׁןya/SHENsleepingהוּאhuhe isוְיִקָץ׃ve/yi/KATSand must be awakened

    And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

    וַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudוַיִּתְגֹּדְדוּvay/yit/god/DUand they cut themselvesכְּמִשְׁפָּטָםke/mish/pa/TAMafter their customבַּחֲרָבוֹתba/cha/ra/VOTwith swordsוּבָרְמָחִיםu/va/re/ma/CHIMand with lancesעַד־שְׁפׇךְ־דָּםad-she/FOKH-damuntil blood poured outעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMupon them

    And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּעֲבֹרka/a/VORwhen was pastהַצׇּהֳרַיִםhats/tso/ho/RA/yimthe noonוַיִּתְנַבְּאוּvay/yit/nab/be/Uand they prophesiedעַדaduntilלַעֲלוֹתla/a/LOTthe offering ofהַמִּנְחָהham/min/CHAthe offeringוְאֵין־קוֹלve/EN-kolbut there was no voiceוְאֵין־עֹנֶהve/EN-o/NEand no one answeringוְאֵיןve/ENand noקָשֶׁב׃KA/shevattention

    And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahלְכׇל־הָעָםle/KHOL-ha/AMto all the peopleגְּשׁוּge/SHUcome nearאֵלַיe/LAYto meוַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearכׇל־הָעָםkhol-ha/AMall the peopleאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיְרַפֵּאvay/rap/PEand he repairedאֶת־מִזְבַּחet-miz/BACHthe altar ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהֶהָרוּס׃he/ha/RUSthat was thrown down

    And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

31. 31

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהshtem-es/REtwelveאֲבָנִיםa/va/NIMstonesכְּמִסְפַּרke/mis/PARaccording to the number ofשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofבְנֵי־יַעֲקֹבve/NE-ya/a/KOVthe sons of Jacobאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomהָיָהha/YAcameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beשְׁמֶךָ׃she/ME/khayour name

    And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

32. 32

    וַיִּבְנֶהvay/yiv/NEand he builtאֶת־הָאֲבָנִיםet-ha/a/va/NIMthe stones intoמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achan altarבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he madeתְּעָלָהte/a/LAa trenchכְּבֵיתke/VETlike a house ofסָאתַיִםsa/TA/yimtwo seahsזֶרַעZE/raseedסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutלַמִּזְבֵּחַ׃lam/miz/BE/achthe altar

    And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33. 33

    וַיַּעֲרֹךְvay/ya/a/ROKHand he arrangedאֶת־הָעֵצִיםet-ha/e/TSIMthe woodוַיְנַתַּחvay/nat/TACHand cut in piecesאֶת־הַפָּרet-hap/PARthe bullוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand laid itעַל־הָעֵצִים׃al-ha/e/TSIMupon the wood

    And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִלְאוּmil/Ufillאַרְבָּעָהar/ba/Afourכַדִּיםkhad/DIMjarsמַיִםMA/yimwaterוְיִצְקוּve/yits/KUand pour itעַל־הָעֹלָהal-ha/o/LAupon the burnt offeringוְעַל־הָעֵצִיםve/AL-ha/e/TSIMand upon the woodוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁנוּshe/NUdo it againוַיִּשְׁנוּvay/yish/NUand they did it againוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשַׁלֵּשׁוּshal/LE/shudo a third timeוַיְשַׁלֵּשׁוּ׃vay/shal/LE/shuand they did a third time

    And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

35. 35

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand ranהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutלַמִּזְבֵּחַlam/miz/BE/achthe altarוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־הַתְּעָלָהet-hat/te/a/LAthe trenchמִלֵּא־מָיִם׃mil/LE-MA/yimhe filled with water

    And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

36. 36

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּעֲלוֹתba/a/LOTat the offering ofהַמִּנְחָהham/min/CHAthe offeringוַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHthat came nearאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacוְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELand Israelהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAlet it be knownכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAthat You areאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand I amעַבְדֶּךָav/DE/khaYour servant[וּבִדְבָרְךָ]u/vid/va/re/KHAand by Your wordעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37. 37

    עֲנֵנִיa/NE/nianswer meיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעֲנֵנִיa/NE/nianswer meוְיֵדְעוּve/yed/Uthat may knowהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAthat YouיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMare Godוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand Youהֲסִבֹּתָha/sib/BO/tahave turned backאֶת־לִבָּםet-lib/BAMtheir heartאֲחֹרַנִּית׃a/cho/ran/NITagain

    Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38. 38

    וַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand fellאֵשׁ־יְהֹוָהesh-Adonaithe fire of the LORDוַתֹּאכַלvat/TO/khaland consumedאֶת־הָעֹלָהet-ha/o/LAthe burnt offeringוְאֶת־הָעֵצִיםve/ET-ha/e/TSIMand the woodוְאֶת־הָאֲבָנִיםve/ET-ha/a/va/NIMand the stonesוְאֶת־הֶעָפָרve/ET-he/a/FARand the dustוְאֶת־הַמַּיִםve/ET-ham/MA/yimand the waterאֲשֶׁר־בַּתְּעָלָהa/SHER-bat/te/a/LAthat was in the trenchלִחֵכָה׃li/CHE/khait licked up

    Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39. 39

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand they fellעַל־פְּנֵיהֶםal-pe/ne/HEMupon their facesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהוּאhuHe isהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהוּאhuHe isהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

40. 40

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahלָהֶםla/HEMto themתִּפְשׂוּtif/SUseizeאֶת־נְבִיאֵיet-ne/vi/Ethe prophets ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalאִישׁisha manאַל־יִמָּלֵטal-yim/ma/LETlet not escapeמֵהֶםme/HEMof themוַיִּתְפְּשׂוּםvay/yit/pe/SUMand they seized themוַיּוֹרִדֵםvay/yo/ri/DEMand brought them downאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֶל־נַחַלel-NA/chalto the brookקִישׁוֹןKi/SHONKishonוַיִּשְׁחָטֵםvay/yish/cha/TEMand slaughtered themשָׁם׃shamthere

    And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

41. 41

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahלְאַחְאָבle/Ach/AVto Ahabעֲלֵהa/LEgo upאֱכֹלe/KHOLeatוּשְׁתֵהu/she/TEand drinkכִּי־קוֹלki-kolfor the sound ofהֲמוֹןha/MONthe roar ofהַגָּשֶׁם׃hag/GA/shemthe rain

    And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

42. 42

    וַיַּעֲלֶהvay/ya/a/LEso went upאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוְלִשְׁתּוֹתve/lish/TOTand to drinkוְאֵלִיָּהוּve/E/liy/YA/huand Elijahעָלָהa/LAwent upאֶל־רֹאשׁel-roshto the top ofהַכַּרְמֶלHak/kar/MELCarmelוַיִּגְהַרvay/yig/HARand he crouchedאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand putפָּנָיוpa/NAYVhis faceבֵּיןbenbetweenבִּרְכָּו׃bir/KAVhis knees

    So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43. 43

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־נַעֲרוֹel-na/a/ROto his servantעֲלֵה־נָאa/LE-nago up nowהַבֵּטhab/BETlookדֶּרֶךְ־יָםDE/rekh-yamtoward the seaוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upוַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand he lookedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵיןenthere is notמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשֻׁבshuvgo againשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenפְּעָמִים׃pe/a/MIMtimes

    And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44. 44

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּשְּׁבִעִיתbash/she/vi/ITat the seventh timeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּה־עָבhin/NE-avbehold a cloudקְטַנָּהke/tan/NAlittleכְּכַף־אִישׁke/KHAF-ishlike the palm of a manעֹלָהo/LArisingמִיָּםmiy/YAMfrom the seaוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֲלֵהa/LEgo upאֱמֹרe/MORsayאֶל־אַחְאָבel-Ach/AVto Ahabאֱסֹרe/SORharness upוָרֵדva/REDand go downוְלֹאve/LOthat notיַעֲצׇרְכָהya/a/tsor/KHAmay stop youהַגָּשֶׁם׃hag/GA/shemthe rain

    And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

45. 45

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passעַד־כֹּהad-kountil hereוְעַד־כֹּהve/AD-koand until thereוְהַשָּׁמַיִםve/hash/sha/MA/yimand the heavensהִתְקַדְּרוּhit/kad/de/RUgrew blackעָבִיםa/VIMwith cloudsוְרוּחַve/RU/achand windוַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasגֶּשֶׁםGE/shemrainגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוַיִּרְכַּבvay/yir/KAVand he rodeאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentיִזְרְעֶאלָה׃Yiz/re/E/lato Jezreel

    And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46. 46

    וְיַד־יְהֹוָהve/YAD-Adonaiand the hand of the LORDהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasאֶל־אֵלִיָּהוּel-E/liy/YA/huon Elijahוַיְשַׁנֵּסvay/shan/NESand he girded upמׇתְנָיוmot/NAYVhis loinsוַיָּרׇץvay/YA/rotsand he ranלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabעַד־בֹּאֲכָהad-bo/a/KHAuntil you comeיִזְרְעֶאלָה׃Yiz/re/E/lato Jezreel

    And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
