   And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand cameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

   לֵךְlekhgoמִזֶּהmiz/ZEfrom hereוּפָנִיתָu/fa/NI/taand turnלְּךָle/KHAyourselfקֵדְמָהKED/maeastwardוְנִסְתַּרְתָּve/nis/TAR/taand hide yourselfבְּנַחַלbe/NA/chalby the brookכְּרִיתKe/RITCherithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEeast ofהַיַּרְדֵּן׃hay/Yar/DENthe Jordan

   Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beמֵהַנַּחַלme/han/NA/chalfrom the brookתִּשְׁתֶּהtish/TEyou shall drinkוְאֶת־הָעֹרְבִיםve/ET-ha/or/VIMand the ravensצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI have commandedלְכַלְכֶּלְךָle/khal/kel/KHAto feed youשָׁם׃shamthere

   And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltבְּנַחַלbe/NA/chalby the brookכְּרִיתKe/RITCherithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEeast ofהַיַּרְדֵּן׃hay/Yar/DENthe Jordan

   So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

   וְהָעֹרְבִיםve/ha/or/VIMand the ravensמְבִאִיםme/vi/IMbroughtלוֹloto himלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוּבָשָׂרu/va/SARand meatבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוְלֶחֶםve/LE/chemand breadוּבָשָׂרu/va/SARand meatבָּעָרֶבba/A/revin the eveningוּמִן־הַנַּחַלu/MIN-han/NA/chaland from the brookיִשְׁתֶּה׃yish/TEhe drank

   And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִקֵּץmik/KETSat the end ofיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוַיִּיבַשׁvay/yi/VASHand it dried upהַנָּחַלhan/NA/chalthe brookכִּיkibecauseלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was noגֶשֶׁםGE/shemrainבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

   And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand cameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

   קוּםkumariseלֵךְlekhgoצָרְפַתָהTsa/re/FA/tato Zarephathאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat belongsלְצִידוֹןle/Tsi/DONto Sidonוְיָשַׁבְתָּve/ya/shav/TAand dwellשָׁםshamthereהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI have commandedשָׁםshamthereאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanאַלְמָנָהal/ma/NAa widowלְכַלְכְּלֶךָ׃le/khal/ke/LE/khato feed you

   Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he aroseוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentצָרְפַתָהTsa/re/FA/tato Zarephathוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־פֶּתַחel-PE/tachto the entrance ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityוְהִנֵּה־שָׁםve/hin/NE-shamand behold there wasאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanאַלְמָנָהal/ma/NAa widowמְקֹשֶׁשֶׁתme/ko/SHE/shetwas gatheringעֵצִיםe/TSIMsticksוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidקְחִי־נָאke/CHI-nabring nowלִיlifor meמְעַט־מַיִםme/AT-MA/yima little waterבַּכְּלִיbak/ke/LIin the vesselוְאֶשְׁתֶּה׃ve/esh/TEthat I may drink

    So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

    וַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand she wentלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto bring itוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidלִקְחִי־נָאlik/CHI-nabring nowלִיlifor meפַּת־לֶחֶםpat-LE/chema morsel of breadבְּיָדֵךְ׃be/ya/DEKHin your hand

    And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godאִם־יֶשׁ־לִיim-yesh-liI have notמָעוֹגma/OGa cakeכִּיkibutאִם־מְלֹאim-me/LOonly a fill ofכַף־קֶמַחkhaf-KE/macha handful of mealבַּכַּדbak/KADin the jarוּמְעַט־שֶׁמֶןu/me/AT-SHE/menand a little oilבַּצַּפָּחַתbats/tsap/PA/chatin the jugוְהִנְנִיve/hin/NIand behold I amמְקֹשֶׁשֶׁתme/ko/SHE/shetgatheringשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoעֵצִיםe/TSIMsticksוּבָאתִיu/VA/tithat I may go inוַעֲשִׂיתִיהוּva/a/si/TI/huand prepare itלִיlifor meוְלִבְנִיve/liv/NIand for my sonוַאֲכַלְנֻהוּva/a/khal/NU/huthat we may eat itוָמָתְנוּ׃va/MAT/nuand die

    And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאַל־תִּירְאִיal-ti/re/Ido not fearבֹּאִיBO/igoעֲשִׂיa/SIdoכִדְבָרֵךְkhid/va/REKHas you have saidאַךְakhbutעֲשִׂי־לִי־מִשָּׁםa/SI-li-mish/SHAMmake me from itעֻגָהu/GAa cakeקְטַנָּהke/tan/NAlittleבָרִאשֹׁנָהva/ri/sho/NAfirstוְהוֹצֵאתve/ho/TSETand bring it outלִיlito meוְלָךְve/LAKHand for yourselfוְלִבְנֵךְve/liv/NEKHand for your sonתַּעֲשִׂיta/a/SImakeבָּאַחֲרֹנָה׃ba/a/cha/ro/NAafterward

    And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

    כִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכַּדkadthe jar ofהַקֶּמַחhak/KE/machmealלֹאlonotתִכְלָהtikh/LAshall be used upוְצַפַּחַתve/tsap/PA/chatnor the jug ofהַשֶּׁמֶןhash/SHE/menoilלֹאlonotתֶחְסָרtech/SARshall failעַדaduntilיוֹםyomthe day(תתן)tatan[תֵּת־]יְהֹוָהtet-ye/ho/VAthe LORD givesגֶּשֶׁםGE/shemrainעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the face ofהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAthe earth

    For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.

15. 15

    וַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand she wentוַתַּעֲשֶׂהvat/ta/a/SEand didכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahוַתֹּאכַלvat/TO/khaland ate(הואhavוהיא)vahay[הִיא־וָהוּא]hi-va/HUshe and heוּבֵיתָהּu/ve/TAand her householdיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

    And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16. 16

    כַּדkadthe jar ofהַקֶּמַחhak/KE/machmealלֹאlonotכָלָתָהkha/LA/tawas used upוְצַפַּחַתve/tsap/PA/chatnor the jug ofהַשֶּׁמֶןhash/SHE/menoilלֹאlonotחָסֵרcha/SERdid failכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofאֵלִיָּהוּ׃E/liy/YA/huElijah

    And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחַרa/CHARafterהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseחָלָהcha/LAfell sickבֶּן־הָאִשָּׁהben-ha/ish/SHAthe son of the womanבַּעֲלַתba/a/LATthe mistress ofהַבָּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasחׇלְיוֹchol/YOhis sicknessחָזָקcha/ZAKsevereמְאֹדme/ODveryעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־נוֹתְרָה־בּוֹlo-not/RA-bothere was not left in himנְשָׁמָה׃ne/sha/MAbreath

    And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

18. 18

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֶל־אֵלִיָּהוּel-E/liy/YA/huto Elijahמַה־לִּיma-liwhat is to meוָלָךְva/LAKHand to youאִישׁishO man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבָּאתָBA/tahave you comeאֵלַיe/LAYto meלְהַזְכִּירle/haz/KIRto bring to remembranceאֶת־עֲוֺנִיet-a/vo/NImy iniquityוּלְהָמִיתu/le/ha/MITand to killאֶת־בְּנִי׃et-be/NImy son

    And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herתְּנִי־לִיte/NI-ligive meאֶת־בְּנֵךְet-be/NEKHyour sonוַיִּקָּחֵהוּvay/yik/ka/CHE/huand he took himמֵחֵיקָהּme/che/KAfrom her bosomוַיַּעֲלֵהוּvay/ya/a/LE/huand he carried him upאֶל־הָעֲלִיָּהel-ha/a/liy/YAto the roof chamberאֲשֶׁר־הוּאa/SHER-huwhere heיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas stayingשָׁםshamthereוַיַּשְׁכִּבֵהוּvay/yash/ki/VE/huand laid himעַל־מִטָּתוֹ׃al-mit/ta/TOupon his bed

    And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

20. 20

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהָיe/lo/HAYmy Godהֲגַםha/GAMalsoעַל־הָאַלְמָנָהal-ha/al/ma/NAupon the widowאֲשֶׁר־אֲנִיa/SHER-a/NIwith whom Iמִתְגּוֹרֵרmit/go/RERam sojourningעִמָּהּim/MAwith herהֲרֵעוֹתָha/re/O/tahave You brought evilלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITby killingאֶת־בְּנָהּ׃et-be/NAher son

    And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21. 21

    וַיִּתְמֹדֵדvay/yit/mo/DEDand he stretched himselfעַל־הַיֶּלֶדal-hay/YE/ledupon the childשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהָיe/lo/HAYmy GodתָּשׇׁבTA/shovlet returnנָאnaI prayנֶפֶשׁ־הַיֶּלֶדNE/fesh-hay/YE/ledthe soul of the childהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַל־קִרְבּוֹ׃al-kir/BOinto him

    And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.

22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקוֹלbe/KOLto the voice ofאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahוַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand it returnedנֶפֶשׁ־הַיֶּלֶדNE/fesh-hay/YE/ledthe soul of the childעַל־קִרְבּוֹal-kir/BOinto himוַיֶּחִי׃vay/YE/chiand he revived

    And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

23. 23

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahאֶת־הַיֶּלֶדet-hay/YE/ledthe childוַיֹּרִדֵהוּvay/yo/ri/DE/huand brought him downמִן־הָעֲלִיָּהmin-ha/a/liy/YAfrom the roof chamberהַבַּיְתָהhab/BAY/tainto the houseוַיִּתְּנֵהוּvay/yit/te/NE/huand gave himלְאִמּוֹle/im/MOto his motherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלִיָּהוּE/liy/YA/huElijahרְאִיre/Iseeחַיchaylivesבְּנֵךְ׃be/NEKHyour son

    And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanאֶל־אֵלִיָּהוּel-E/liy/YA/huto Elijahעַתָּהat/TAnowזֶהzeby thisיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatאִישׁisha man ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאָתָּהAT/tayou areוּדְבַר־יְהֹוָהu/de/VAR-Adonaiand the word of the LORDבְּפִיךָbe/FI/khain your mouthאֱמֶת׃e/METtruth

    And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
