   At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

   And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

   And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

   And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

   And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

   And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

   Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

   וָאֶקְרַעva/ek/RAand I tore awayאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוָאֶתְּנֶהָva/et/te/NE/haand I gave itלָךְlakhto youוְלֹא־הָיִיתָve/LO-ha/YI/tayet you have not beenכְּעַבְדִּיke/av/DIlike My servantדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשָׁמַרsha/MARkeptמִצְוֺתַיmits/vo/TAYMy commandmentsוַאֲשֶׁר־הָלַךְva/a/SHER-ha/LAKHand who walkedאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter Meבְּכׇל־לְבָבוֹbe/KHOL-le/va/VOwith all his heartלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doרַקrakonlyהַיָּשָׁרhay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינָי׃be/e/NAYin My eyes

   And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;

   וַתָּרַעvat/TA/rabut you have done evilלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doמִכֹּלmik/KOLmore than allאֲשֶׁר־הָיוּa/SHER-ha/YUwho wereלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand you wentוַתַּעֲשֶׂה־לְּךָvat/ta/a/SE-le/KHAand made for yourselfאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsוּמַסֵּכוֹתu/mas/se/KHOTand molten imagesלְהַכְעִיסֵנִיle/hakh/i/SE/nito provoke Meוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand Meהִשְׁלַכְתָּhish/LAKH/tayou have castאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REbehindגַוֶּךָ׃gav/VE/khayour back

   But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵבִיאme/VIam bringingרָעָהra/Aevilאֶל־בֵּיתel-betupon the house ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand I will cut offלְיָרׇבְעָםle/Ya/rov/AMfrom Jeroboamמַשְׁתִּיןmash/TINone who urinatesבְּקִירbe/KIRagainst the wallעָצוּרa/TSURthe one shut upוְעָזוּבve/a/ZUVand the one leftבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelוּבִעַרְתִּיu/vi/ar/TIand I will sweep awayאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterבֵית־יָרׇבְעָםvet-Ya/rov/AMthe house of Jeroboamכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְבַעֵרye/va/ERone sweeps awayהַגָּלָלhag/ga/LALthe dungעַד־תֻּמּוֹ׃ad-tum/MOuntil it is gone

    Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

    הַמֵּתham/METwhoever diesלְיָרׇבְעָםle/Ya/rov/AMof Jeroboamבָּעִירba/IRin the cityיֹאכְלוּyo/khe/LUshall eatהַכְּלָבִיםhak/ke/la/VIMthe dogsוְהַמֵּתve/ham/METand whoever diesבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldיֹאכְלוּyo/khe/LUshall eatעוֹףofthe birds ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensכִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבֵּר׃dib/BERhas spoken

    Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.

    וְאַתְּve/ATTand youקוּמִיKU/miariseלְכִיle/KHIgoלְבֵיתֵךְle/ve/TEKHto your houseבְּבֹאָהֿbe/vo/Awhen enterרַגְלַיִךְrag/LA/yikhyour feetהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityוּמֵתu/METwill dieהַיָּלֶד׃hay/YA/ledthe child

    Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

    וְסָפְדוּ־לוֹve/sa/fe/DU-loand will mourn for himכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלkhol-Yis/ra/ELall Israelוְקָבְרוּve/ka/ve/RUand buryאֹתוֹo/TOhimכִּי־זֶהki-zefor this oneלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneיָבֹאya/VOshall comeלְיָרׇבְעָםle/Ya/rov/AMof Jeroboamאֶל־קָבֶרel-KA/verto a graveיַעַןYA/anbecauseנִמְצָא־בוֹnim/TSA-vohas been found in himדָּבָרda/VARa thingטוֹבtovgoodאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיָרׇבְעָם׃Ya/rov/AMJeroboam

    And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14. 14

    וְהֵקִיםve/he/KIMand will raise upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלוֹlofor HimselfמֶלֶךְME/lekha kingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיַכְרִיתyakh/RIThe will cut offאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamזֶהzethisהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayוּמֶהu/MEand whatגַּם־עָתָּה׃gam-AT/taeven now

    Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.

15. 15

    וְהִכָּהve/hik/KAand will strikeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָנוּדya/NUDswaysהַקָּנֶהhak/ka/NEthe reedבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimin the waterוְנָתַשׁve/na/TASHand will uprootאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelמֵעַלme/ALfrom uponהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe landהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָתַןna/TANHe gaveלַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםla/a/vo/te/HEMto their fathersוְזֵרָםve/ze/RAMand will scatter themמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verbeyondלַנָּהָרlan/na/HARthe riverיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשׂוּa/SUthey have madeאֶת־אֲשֵׁרֵיהֶםet-A/she/re/HEMtheir Asherimמַכְעִיסִיםmakh/i/SIMprovokingאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

    For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

16. 16

    וְיִתֵּןve/yit/TENand He will give upאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofחַטֹּאותchat/TOTthe sins ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichחָטָאcha/TAhe sinnedוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whichהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TIhe made to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

17. 17

    וַתָּקׇםvat/TA/komand she aroseאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand departedוַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOand cameתִרְצָתָהTir/TSA/tato Tirzahהִיאhias sheבָּאָהba/Acameבְסַף־הַבַּיִתve/SAF-hab/BA/yitto the threshold of the houseוְהַנַּעַרve/han/NA/arthe boyמֵת׃metdied

    And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;

18. 18

    וַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּסְפְּדוּ־לוֹvay/yis/pe/DU-loand mourned for himכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלkol-Yis/ra/ELall Israelכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeבְּיַד־עַבְדּוֹbe/YAD-av/DOby the hand of His servantאֲחִיָּהוּA/chiy/YA/huAhijahהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowנִלְחַםnil/CHAMhe foughtוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand howמָלָךְma/LAKHhe reignedהִנָּםhin/NAMbehold theyכְּתוּבִיםke/tu/VIMare writtenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEof the kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

    וְהַיָּמִיםve/hay/ya/MIMand the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוּשְׁתַּיִםush/TA/yimand twoשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedנָדָבNa/DAVNadabבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

    וּרְחַבְעָםu/Re/chav/AMand Rehoboamבֶּן־שְׁלֹמֹהben-She/lo/MOthe son of Solomonמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judahבֶּן־אַרְבָּעִיםben-ar/ba/IMa son of fortyוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand oneשָׁנָהsha/NAyearרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamבְּמׇלְכוֹbe/mol/KHOwhen he began to reignוּשְׁבַע־עֶשְׂרֵהu/she/VA-es/REand seventeenשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁר־בָּחַרa/SHER-ba/CHARthat had chosenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOHis nameשָׁםshamthereמִכֹּלmik/KOLout of allשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherנַעֲמָהNa/a/MANaamahהָעַמֹּנִית׃ha/Am/mo/NITthe Ammonite woman

    And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahהָרַעha/RAevilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיְקַנְאוּvay/kan/Uand they provoked to jealousyאֹתוֹo/TOHimמִכֹּלmik/KOLmore than allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשׂוּa/SUhad doneאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersבְּחַטֹּאתָםbe/chat/to/TAMwith their sinsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatחָטָאוּ׃cha/TA/uthey committed

    And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23. 23

    וַיִּבְנוּvay/yiv/NUand they builtגַם־הֵמָּהgam-HEM/mathey alsoלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesבָּמוֹתba/MOThigh placesוּמַצֵּבוֹתu/mats/tse/VOTand sacred pillarsוַאֲשֵׁרִיםva/A/she/RIMand Asherimעַלalonכׇּל־גִּבְעָהkol-giv/Aevery hillגְבֹהָהge/vo/HAhighוְתַחַתve/TA/chatand underכׇּל־עֵץkol-etsevery treeרַעֲנָן׃ra/a/NANgreen

    For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

    וְגַם־קָדֵשׁve/GAM-ka/DESHand also male cult prostitutesהָיָהha/YAthere wereבָאָרֶץva/A/retsin the landעָשׂוּa/SUthey didכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allהַתּוֹעֲבֹתhat/to/a/VOTthe abominations ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהוֹרִישׁho/RISHdispossessedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַחֲמִישִׁיתha/cha/mi/SHITthe fifthלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhof kingרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamעָלָהa/LAcame up[שִׁישַׁק]Shi/SHAKShishakמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptעַל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃al-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimagainst Jerusalem

    And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:

26. 26

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־אֹצְרוֹתet-ots/ROTthe treasures ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהbet-Adonaithe house of the LORDוְאֶת־אוֹצְרוֹתve/ET-ots/ROTand the treasures ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְאֶת־הַכֹּלve/ET-hak/KOLand everythingלָקָחla/KACHhe tookוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־כׇּל־מָגִנֵּיet-kol-ma/gin/NEall the shields ofהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVgoldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂהa/SAhad madeשְׁלֹמֹה׃She/lo/MOSolomon

    And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand madeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamתַּחְתָּםtach/TAMin their placeמָגִנֵּיma/gin/NEshields ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeוְהִפְקִידve/hif/KIDand committed themעַל־יַדal-yadto the hand ofשָׂרֵיsa/REthe commanders ofהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe runnersהַשֹּׁמְרִיםhash/shom/RIMwho keptפֶּתַחPE/tachthe door ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king's house.

28. 28

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמִדֵּי־בֹאmid/DE-voas often as cameהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבֵּיתbetinto the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיִשָּׂאוּםyis/sa/UMwould carry themהָרָצִיםha/ra/TSIMthe runnersוֶהֱשִׁיבוּםve/he/shi/VUMand bring them backאֶל־תָּאel-tato the guardroom ofהָרָצִים׃ha/ra/TSIMthe runners

    And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

29. 29

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all thatעָשָׂהa/SAhe didהֲלֹא־הֵמָּהha/LO-HEM/maare they notכְתוּבִיםkhe/tu/VIMwrittenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEof the kings ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30. 30

    וּמִלְחָמָהu/mil/cha/MAand warהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasבֵין־רְחַבְעָםven-Re/chav/AMbetween Rehoboamוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃kol-hay/ya/MIMall the days

    And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31. 31

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersבְּעִירbe/IRin the city ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherנַעֲמָהNa/a/MANaamahהָעַמֹּנִיתha/Am/mo/NITthe Ammonite womanוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedאֲבִיָּםA/viy/YAMAbijamבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.
