   And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedעַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַal-ham/miz/BE/achagainst the altarבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achO altarמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achO altarכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנֵּה־בֵןhin/NE-venbehold a sonנוֹלָדno/LADshall be bornלְבֵית־דָּוִדle/VET-da/VIDto the house of DavidיֹאשִׁיָּהוּYo/shiy/YA/huJosiahשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameוְזָבַחve/za/VACHand he shall sacrificeעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youאֶת־כֹּהֲנֵיet-ko/ha/NEthe priests ofהַבָּמוֹתhab/ba/MOTthe high placesהַמַּקְטִרִיםham/mak/ti/RIMwho burn incenseעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youוְעַצְמוֹתve/ats/MOTand the bones ofאָדָםa/DAMmanיִשְׂרְפוּyis/re/FUthey shall burnעָלֶיךָ׃a/LE/khaupon you

   And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.

   וְנָתַןve/na/TANand he gaveבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatמוֹפֵתmo/FETa signלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingזֶהzethis isהַמּוֹפֵתham/mo/FETthe signאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERhas spokenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarנִקְרָעnik/RAshall be tornוְנִשְׁפַּךְve/nish/PAKHand shall be poured outהַדֶּשֶׁןhad/DE/shenthe ashesאֲשֶׁר־עָלָיו׃a/SHER-a/LAYVthat are upon it

   And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

   And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

   וְהַמִּזְבֵּחַve/ham/miz/BE/achand the altarנִקְרָעnik/RAwas tornוַיִּשָּׁפֵךְvay/yish/sha/FEKHand it was poured outהַדֶּשֶׁןhad/DE/shenthe ashesמִן־הַמִּזְבֵּחַmin-ham/miz/BE/achfrom the altarכַּמּוֹפֵתkam/mo/FETaccording to the signאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָתַןna/TANhad givenאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־אִישׁel-ishto the man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodחַל־נָאchal-naentreat nowאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godוְהִתְפַּלֵּלve/hit/pal/LELand prayבַּעֲדִיba/a/DIfor meוְתָשֹׁבve/ta/SHOVthat may be restoredיָדִיya/DImy handאֵלָיe/LAYto meוַיְחַלvay/CHALand entreatedאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand was restoredיַד־הַמֶּלֶךְyad-ham/ME/lekhthe hand of the kingאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand becameכְּבָרִאשֹׁנָה׃ke/va/ri/sho/NAas before

   And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

   וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶל־אִישׁel-ishto the man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבֹּאָה־אִתִּיbo/A-it/TIcome with meהַבַּיְתָהhab/BAY/tato the houseוּסְעָדָהu/se/A/daand refresh yourselfוְאֶתְּנָהve/et/te/NAand I will giveלְךָle/KHAyouמַתָּת׃mat/TATa present

   And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingאִם־תִּתֶּן־לִיim-tit/TEN-liif you give meאֶת־חֲצִיet-cha/TSIhalf ofבֵיתֶךָve/TE/khayour houseלֹאlonotאָבֹאa/VOwill I go inעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוְלֹא־אֹכַלve/LO-O/khalnor will I eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלֹאve/LOnorאֶשְׁתֶּה־מַּיִםesh/TE-MA/yimwill I drink waterבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

   כִּי־כֵןki-khenfor soצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedאֹתִיo/TImeבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־תֹאכַלlo-to/KHALyou shall not eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלֹאve/LOnorתִשְׁתֶּה־מָּיִםtish/TE-MA/yimdrink waterוְלֹאve/LOnorתָשׁוּבta/SHUVreturnבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָלָכְתָּ׃ha/LAKH/tayou came

   For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhby a wayאַחֵרa/CHERanotherוְלֹא־שָׁבve/LO-shavand did not returnבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּאbahe cameבָהּvaby itאֶל־בֵּית־אֵל׃el-Bet-elto Beth-el

    So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.

    וְנָבִיאve/na/VIand a prophetאֶחָדe/CHADoneזָקֵןza/KENoldיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas dwellingבְּבֵית־אֵלbe/VET-elin Beth-elוַיָּבוֹאvay/ya/VOand cameבְנוֹve/NOhis sonוַיְסַפֶּר־לוֹvay/sap/PER-loand told himאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּעֲשֶׂהet-kol-ham/ma/a/SEall the deedsאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAthat had doneאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthat dayבְּבֵית־אֵלbe/VET-elin Beth-elאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe had spokenאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוַיְסַפְּרוּםvay/sap/pe/RUMand they told themלַאֲבִיהֶם׃la/a/vi/HEMto their father

    Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherאֵי־זֶהe-zewhichהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayהָלָךְha/LAKHdid he goוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand had seenבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָלַךְha/LAKHhad goneאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁר־בָּאa/SHER-bawho had comeמִיהוּדָה׃mI/hu/DAfrom Judah

    And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־בָּנָיוel-ba/NAYVto his sonsחִבְשׁוּ־לִיchiv/SHU-lisaddle for meהַחֲמוֹרha/cha/MORthe donkeyוַיַּחְבְּשׁוּ־לוֹvay/yach/be/SHU-loand they saddled for himהַחֲמוֹרha/cha/MORthe donkeyוַיִּרְכַּבvay/yir/KAVand he rodeעָלָיו׃a/LAYVon it

    And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

14. 14

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיִּמְצָאֵהוּvay/yim/tsa/E/huand he found himיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVsittingתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאֵלָהha/e/LAthe oakוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתָa/SHER-BA/tawho cameמִיהוּדָהmI/hu/DAfrom Judahוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָנִי׃A/niI am

    And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵךְlekhcomeאִתִּיit/TIwith meהַבָּיְתָהhab/BAY/tato the houseוֶאֱכֹלve/e/KHOLand eatלָחֶם׃LA/chembread

    Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALI canלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto returnאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youוְלָבוֹאve/la/VOor go inאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youוְלֹא־אֹכַלve/LO-O/khalnor will I eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלֹא־אֶשְׁתֶּהve/LO-esh/TEnor drinkאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youמַיִםMA/yimwaterבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

17. 17

    כִּי־דָבָרki-da/VARbecause a wordאֵלַיe/LAYto meבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֹא־תֹאכַלlo-to/KHALyou shall not eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלֹא־תִשְׁתֶּהve/LO-tish/TEnor drinkשָׁםshamthereמָיִםMA/yimwaterלֹא־תָשׁוּבlo-ta/SHUVyou shall not returnלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayאֲשֶׁר־הָלַכְתָּa/SHER-ha/LAKH/tathat you cameבָּהּ׃baby it

    For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himגַּם־אֲנִיgam-a/NII also amנָבִיאna/VIa prophetכָּמוֹךָka/MO/khalike youוּמַלְאָךְu/mal/AKHand an angelדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeאֵלַיe/LAYto meבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֲשִׁבֵהוּha/shi/VE/hubring him backאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youאֶל־בֵּיתֶךָel-be/TE/khato your houseוְיֹאכַלve/YO/khalthat he may eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְיֵשְׁתְּve/YESHTand drinkמָיִםMA/yimwaterכִּחֵשׁki/CHESHhe was lyingלוֹ׃loto him

    He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovso he went backאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוַיֹּאכַלvay/YO/khaland he ateלֶחֶםLE/chembreadבְּבֵיתוֹbe/ve/TOin his houseוַיֵּשְׁתְּvay/YESHTand he drankמָיִם׃MA/yimwater

    So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

20. 20

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהֵםhemas they wereיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMsittingאֶל־הַשֻּׁלְחָןel-hash/shul/CHANat the tableוַיְהִיvay/HIthat cameדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־הַנָּבִיאel-han/na/VIto the prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֱשִׁיבוֹ׃he/shi/VOhad brought him back

    And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:

21. 21

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedאֶל־אִישׁel-ishto the man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁר־בָּאa/SHER-bawho had comeמִיהוּדָהmI/hu/DAfrom Judahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיַעַןYA/anbecauseכִּיkithatמָרִיתָma/RI/tayou have rebelled againstפִּיpithe mouth ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמַרְתָּsha/MAR/tayou have keptאֶת־הַמִּצְוָהet-ham/mits/VAthe commandmentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוְּךָtsiv/ve/KHAcommanded youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

    And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,

22. 22

    וַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovbut you came backוַתֹּאכַלvat/TO/khaland ateלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוַתֵּשְׁתְּvat/TESHTand drankמַיִםMA/yimwaterבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe saidאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאַל־תֹּאכַלal-to/KHALdo not eatלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְאַל־תֵּשְׁתְּve/AL-teshtand do not drinkמָיִםMA/yimwaterלֹא־תָבוֹאlo-ta/VOshall not comeנִבְלָתְךָniv/la/te/KHAyour corpseאֶל־קֶבֶרel-KE/verto the grave ofאֲבֹתֶיךָ׃a/vo/TE/khayour fathers

    But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאׇכְלוֹokh/LOhe had eatenלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterשְׁתוֹתוֹshe/to/TOhe had drunkוַיַּחֲבׇשׁ־לוֹvay/ya/cha/VOSH-lothat he saddled for himהַחֲמוֹרha/cha/MORthe donkeyלַנָּבִיאlan/na/VIfor the prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֱשִׁיבוֹ׃he/shi/VOhe had brought back

    And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.

24. 24

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיִּמְצָאֵהוּvay/yim/tsa/E/huand met himאַרְיֵהar/YEa lionבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוַיְמִיתֵהוּvay/mi/TE/huand killed himוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasנִבְלָתוֹniv/la/TOhis corpseמֻשְׁלֶכֶתmush/LE/khetthrown downבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוְהַחֲמוֹרve/ha/cha/MORand the donkeyעֹמֵדo/MEDwas standingאֶצְלָהּets/LAbeside itוְהָאַרְיֵהve/ha/ar/YEand the lionעֹמֵדo/MEDwas standingאֵצֶלE/tselbesideהַנְּבֵלָה׃han/ne/ve/LAthe corpse

    And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenעֹבְרִיםov/RIMpassing byוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they sawאֶת־הַנְּבֵלָהet-han/ne/ve/LAthe corpseמֻשְׁלֶכֶתmush/LE/khetthrown downבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוְאֶת־הָאַרְיֵהve/ET-ha/ar/YEand the lionעֹמֵדo/MEDstandingאֵצֶלE/tselbesideהַנְּבֵלָהhan/ne/ve/LAthe corpseוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameוַיְדַבְּרוּvay/dab/be/RUand told itבָעִירva/IRin the cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetהַזָּקֵןhaz/za/KENoldיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdweltבָּהּ׃bain it

    And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand he heardהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֱשִׁיבוֹhe/shi/VOhad brought him backמִן־הַדֶּרֶךְmin-had/DE/rekhfrom the wayוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהוּאhuit isאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמָרָהma/RArebelled againstאֶת־פִּיet-pithe mouth ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּתְּנֵהוּvay/yit/te/NE/hutherefore has given himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָאַרְיֵהla/ar/YEto the lionוַיִּשְׁבְּרֵהוּvay/yish/be/RE/huand it has broken himוַיְמִתֵהוּvay/mi/TE/huand killed himכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּר־לוֹ׃dib/BER-loHe spoke to him

    And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeאֶל־בָּנָיוel-ba/NAYVto his sonsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingחִבְשׁוּ־לִיchiv/SHU-lisaddle for meאֶת־הַחֲמוֹרet-ha/cha/MORthe donkeyוַיַּחֲבֹשׁוּ׃vay/ya/cha/VO/shuand they saddled it

    And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.

28. 28

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentוַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundאֶת־נִבְלָתוֹet-niv/la/TOhis corpseמֻשְׁלֶכֶתmush/LE/khetthrown downבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוַחֲמוֹרva/cha/MORand the donkeyוְהָאַרְיֵהve/ha/ar/YEand the lionעֹמְדִיםom/DIMstandingאֵצֶלE/tselbesideהַנְּבֵלָהhan/ne/ve/LAthe corpseלֹא־אָכַלlo-A/khalhad not eatenהָאַרְיֵהha/ar/YEthe lionאֶת־הַנְּבֵלָהet-han/ne/ve/LAthe corpseוְלֹאve/LOnorשָׁבַרsha/VARbrokenאֶת־הַחֲמוֹר׃et-ha/cha/MORthe donkey

    And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.

29. 29

    וַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand took upהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֶת־נִבְלַתet-niv/LATthe corpse ofאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godוַיַּנִּחֵהוּvay/yan/ni/CHE/huand laid itאֶל־הַחֲמוֹרel-ha/cha/MORon the donkeyוַיְשִׁיבֵהוּvay/shi/VE/huand brought it backוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־עִירel-irto the city ofהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetהַזָּקֵןhaz/za/KENoldלִסְפֹּדlis/PODto mournוּלְקׇבְרוֹ׃u/le/kov/ROand to bury him

    And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

30. 30

    וַיַּנַּחvay/yan/NACHand he laidאֶת־נִבְלָתוֹet-niv/la/TOhis corpseבְּקִבְרוֹbe/kiv/ROin his own graveוַיִּסְפְּדוּvay/yis/pe/DUand they mournedעָלָיוa/LAYVover himהוֹיhoyalasאָחִי׃a/CHImy brother

    And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!

31. 31

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterקׇבְרוֹkov/ROhis buryingאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־בָּנָיוel-ba/NAYVto his sonsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבְּמוֹתִיbe/mo/TIwhen I dieוּקְבַרְתֶּםu/ke/var/TEMthen buryאֹתִיo/TImeבַּקֶּבֶרbak/KE/verin the graveאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whichאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodקָבוּרka/VURis buriedבּוֹboin itאֵצֶלE/tselbesideעַצְמֹתָיוats/mo/TAYVhis bonesהַנִּיחוּhan/NI/chulayאֶת־עַצְמֹתָי׃et-ats/mo/TAYmy bones

    And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:

32. 32

    כִּיkiforהָיֹהha/YObeיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall come to passהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatקָרָאka/RAhe criedבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַal-ham/miz/BE/achagainst the altarאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּבֵית־אֵלbe/VET-elin Beth-elוְעַלve/ALand againstכׇּל־בָּתֵּיkol-bat/TEall the houses ofהַבָּמוֹתhab/ba/MOTthe high placesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat areבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Shom/RONSamaria

    For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

33. 33

    אַחַרa/CHARafterהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלֹא־שָׁבlo-shavdid not turnיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamמִדַּרְכּוֹmid/dar/KOfrom his wayהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovbut againוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he madeמִקְצוֹתmik/TSOTfrom among allהָעָםha/AMthe peopleכֹּהֲנֵיko/ha/NEpriests ofבָמוֹתva/MOThigh placesהֶחָפֵץhe/cha/FETSwhoever desiredיְמַלֵּאye/mal/LEhe would fillאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוִיהִיvi/HIand he would becomeכֹּהֲנֵיko/ha/NEpriests ofבָמוֹת׃va/MOThigh places

    After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

34. 34

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand becameבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin the thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְחַטַּאתle/chat/TATa sin toבֵּיתbetthe house ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוּלְהַכְחִידu/le/hakh/CHIDeven to cut it offוּלְהַשְׁמִידu/le/hash/MIDand to destroy itמֵעַלme/ALfrom uponפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAthe earth

    And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
