   Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

   Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he walkedבְּכׇל־חַטֹּאותbe/KHOL-chat/TOTin all the sins ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAthat he had doneלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוְלֹא־הָיָהve/LO-HA/yaand was notלְבָבוֹle/va/VOhis heartשָׁלֵםsha/LEMwholeעִם־יְהֹוָהim-Adonaiwith the LORDאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis Godכִּלְבַבkil/VAVlike the heart ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

   And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

   Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

   אֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseעָשָׂהa/SAdidדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶת־הַיָּשָׁרet-hay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹא־סָרve/LO-sarand did not turn asideמִכֹּלmik/KOLfrom anythingאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהוּa/SHER-tsiv/VA/huthat He commanded himכֹּלkolallיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofחַיָּיוchay/YAYVhis lifeרַקrakonlyבִּדְבַרbid/VARin the matter ofאוּרִיָּהU/riy/YAUriahהַחִתִּי׃ha/Chit/TIthe Hittite

   Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

   וּמִלְחָמָהu/mil/cha/MAand warהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasבֵין־רְחַבְעָםven-Re/chav/AMbetween Rehoboamוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofחַיָּיו׃chay/YAYVhis life

   And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

   Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

   וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptאֲבִיָּםA/viy/YAMAbijamעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּעִירbe/IRin the city ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedאָסָאA/SAAsaבְנוֹve/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

   And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

   And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

    וְאַרְבָּעִיםve/ar/ba/IMand fortyוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand oneשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsמָלַךְma/LAKHhe reignedבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherמַעֲכָהMa/a/KHAMaachahבַּת־אֲבִישָׁלוֹם׃bat-A/vi/sha/LOMthe daughter of Abishalom

    And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didאָסָאA/SAAsaהַיָּשָׁרhay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכְּדָוִדke/Da/VIDlike Davidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

12. 12

    וַיַּעֲבֵרvay/ya/a/VERand he put awayהַקְּדֵשִׁיםhak/ke/de/SHIMthe male cult prostitutesמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsfrom the landוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarand he removedאֶת־כׇּל־הַגִּלֻּלִיםet-kol-hag/gil/lu/LIMall the idolsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשׂוּa/SUhad madeאֲבֹתָיו׃a/vo/TAYVhis fathers

    And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־מַעֲכָהet-Ma/a/KHAMaachahאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherוַיְסִרֶהָvay/si/RE/haand he removed herמִגְּבִירָהmig/ge/vi/RAfrom being queen motherאֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָהa/SHER-a/se/TAbecause she had madeמִפְלֶצֶתmif/LE/tsetan abominable imageלָאֲשֵׁרָהla/A/she/RAfor the Asherahוַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand cut downאָסָאA/SAAsaאֶת־מִפְלַצְתָּהּet-mif/lats/TAher abominable imageוַיִּשְׂרֹףvay/yis/ROFand burned itבְּנַחַלbe/NA/chalat the brookקִדְרוֹן׃Kid/RONKidron

    And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

    וְהַבָּמוֹתve/hab/ba/MOTand the high placesלֹא־סָרוּlo-SA/ruwere not removedרַקrakbutלְבַב־אָסָאle/VAV-a/SAthe heart of Asaהָיָהha/YAwasשָׁלֵםsha/LEMwholeעִם־יְהֹוָהim-Adonaiwith the LORDכׇּל־יָמָיו׃kol-ya/MAYVall his days

    But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

15. 15

    וַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he brought inאֶת־קׇדְשֵׁיet-kod/SHEthe holy things ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis father(וקדשו)vakadashav[וְקׇדְשֵׁי]ve/kod/SHEand the holy thingsבֵּיתbetinto the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldוְכֵלִים׃ve/khe/LIMand vessels

    And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

    וּמִלְחָמָהu/mil/cha/MAand warהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasבֵּיןbenbetweenאָסָאA/SAAsaוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelכׇּל־יְמֵיהֶם׃kol-ye/me/HEMall their days

    And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

    וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelעַל־יְהוּדָהal-Ye/hu/DAagainst Judahוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtאֶת־הָרָמָהet-Ha/ra/MARamahלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as notתֵּתtetto allowיֹצֵאyo/TSEone going outוָבָאva/VAor coming inלְאָסָאle/A/SAto AsaמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאָסָאA/SAAsaאֶת־כׇּל־הַכֶּסֶףet-kol-hak/KE/sefall the silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldהַנּוֹתָרִיםhan/no/ta/RIMthat were leftבְּאוֹצְרוֹתbe/ots/ROTin the treasuries ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהbet-Adonaithe house of the LORDוְאֶת־אוֹצְרוֹתve/ET-ots/ROTand the treasures ofבֵּיתbetthe house of(מלך)malakh[הַמֶּלֶךְ]ham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand gave themבְּיַד־עֲבָדָיוbe/YAD-a/va/DAYVinto the hand of his servantsוַיִּשְׁלָחֵםvay/yish/la/CHEMand sent themהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאָסָאA/SAAsaאֶל־בֶּן־הֲדַדel-Ben-ha/DADto Ben-hadadבֶּן־טַבְרִמֹּןben-Tav/rim/MONthe son of Tabrimmonבֶּן־חֶזְיוֹןben-Chez/YONthe son of HezionמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאֲרָםA/RAMAramהַיֹּשֵׁבhay/yo/SHEVwho dweltבְּדַמֶּשֶׂקbe/Dam/ME/sekin Damascusלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

    בְּרִיתbe/RITthere is a covenantבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָu/ve/NE/khaand between youבֵּיןbenbetweenאָבִיa/VImy fatherוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI have sentלְךָle/KHAto youשֹׁחַדSHO/chada bribeכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldלֵךְlekhgoהָפֵרָהha/FE/rabreakאֶת־בְּרִיתְךָet-be/ri/te/KHAyour covenantאֶת־בַּעְשָׁאet-Ba/SHAwith Baashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelוְיַעֲלֶהve/ya/a/LEthat he may go upמֵעָלָי׃me/a/LAYfrom me

    There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand listenedבֶּן־הֲדַדben-Ha/DADBen-hadadאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto kingאָסָאA/SAAsaוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֶת־שָׂרֵיet-sa/REthe commanders ofהַחֲיָלִיםha/cha/ya/LIMthe armiesאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lothat he hadעַל־עָרֵיal-a/REagainst the cities ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־עִיּוֹןet-Iy/YONIjonוְאֶת־דָּןve/ET-danand Danוְאֵתve/ETandאָבֵלA/VELAbel-בֵּית־מַעֲכָהbet-ma/a/KHAbeth-maachahוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־כִּנְרוֹתkol-Kin/ROTall Cinnerothעַלalwithכׇּל־אֶרֶץkol-E/retsall the land ofנַפְתָּלִי׃Naf/ta/LINaphtali

    So Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaוַיֶּחְדַּלvay/yech/DALand ceasedמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTfrom buildingאֶת־הָרָמָהet-Ha/ra/MARamahוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltבְּתִרְצָה׃be/Tir/TSAin Tirzah

    And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

    וְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingאָסָאA/SAAsaהִשְׁמִיעַhish/MI/asummonedאֶת־כׇּל־יְהוּדָהet-Kol-ye/hu/DAall Judahאֵיןennone wasנָקִיna/KIexemptוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they carried awayאֶת־אַבְנֵיet-av/NEthe stones ofהָרָמָהHa/ra/MARamahוְאֶת־עֵצֶיהָve/ET-e/TSE/haand its timberאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichבָּנָהba/NAhad builtבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtבָּםbamwith themהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאָסָאA/SAAsaאֶת־גֶּבַעet-GE/vaGebaבִּנְיָמִןBin/ya/MINof Benjaminוְאֶת־הַמִּצְפָּה׃ve/ET-ham/mits/PAand Mizpah

    Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofכׇּל־דִּבְרֵי־אָסָאkol-Div/RE-a/SAall the acts of Asaוְכׇל־גְּבוּרָתוֹve/KHOL-ge/vu/ra/TOand all his mightוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all thatעָשָׂהa/SAhe didוְהֶעָרִיםve/he/a/RIMand the citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּנָהba/NAhe builtהֲלֹא־הֵמָּהha/LO-HEM/maare they notכְתוּבִיםkhe/tu/VIMwrittenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEof the kings ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahרַקrakbutלְעֵתle/ETin the time ofזִקְנָתוֹzik/na/TOhis old ageחָלָהcha/LAhe was diseasedאֶת־רַגְלָיו׃et-rag/LAYVin his feet

    The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

    And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

    וְנָדָבve/Na/DAVand Nadabבֶּן־יָרׇבְעָםben-Ya/rov/AMthe son of Jeroboamמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the year ofשְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwoלְאָסָאle/A/SAof AsaמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelשְׁנָתָיִם׃she/na/TA/yimtwo years

    And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didהָרַעha/RAevilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand walkedבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the way ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוּבְחַטָּאתוֹu/ve/chat/ta/TOand in his sinאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TImade to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

    וַיִּקְשֹׁרvay/yik/SHORand he conspiredעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaבֶן־אֲחִיָּהven-A/chiy/YAthe son of Ahijahלְבֵיתle/VETof the house ofיִשָּׂשכָרYis/sash/KHARIssacharוַיַּכֵּהוּvay/yak/KE/huand struck himבַעְשָׁאVa/SHABaashaבְּגִבְּתוֹןbe/Gib/be/TONat Gibbethonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat belongedלַפְּלִשְׁתִּיםlap/Pe/lish/TIMto the Philistinesוְנָדָבve/Na/DAVand Nadabוְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-yis/ra/ELand all Israelצָרִיםtsa/RIMwere besiegingעַל־גִּבְּתוֹן׃al-Gib/be/TONGibbethon

    And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

    וַיְמִתֵהוּvay/mi/TE/huand killed himבַעְשָׁאVa/SHABaashaבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the year ofשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeלְאָסָאle/A/SAof AsaמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְמׇלְכוֹkhe/mol/KHOwhen he became kingהִכָּהhik/KAhe struckאֶת־כׇּל־בֵּיתet-kol-betall the house ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamלֹא־הִשְׁאִירlo-hish/IRhe did not leaveכׇּל־נְשָׁמָהkol-ne/sha/MAany that breathedלְיָרׇבְעָםle/Ya/rov/AMto Jeroboamעַד־הִשְׁמִדוֹad-hish/mi/DOuntil he had destroyed himכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeבְּיַד־עַבְדּוֹbe/YAD-av/DOby the hand of His servantאֲחִיָּהA/chiy/YAAhijahהַשִּׁילֹנִי׃hash/Shi/lo/NIthe Shilonite

    And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

    עַל־חַטֹּאותal-chat/TOTbecause of the sins ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatחָטָאcha/TAhe sinnedוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand thatהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TImade to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelבְּכַעְסוֹbe/kha/SOby his provocationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichהִכְעִיסhikh/IShe provokedאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofנָדָבNa/DAVNadabוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all thatעָשָׂהa/SAhe didהֲלֹא־הֵםha/LO-hemare they notכְּתוּבִיםke/tu/VIMwrittenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEof the kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

    וּמִלְחָמָהu/mil/cha/MAand warהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasבֵּיןbenbetweenאָסָאA/SAAsaוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELthe king of Israelכׇּל־יְמֵיהֶם׃kol-ye/me/HEMall their days

    And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

    בִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the year ofשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeלְאָסָאle/A/SAof AsaמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedבַּעְשָׁאBa/SHABaashaבֶן־אֲחִיָּהven-A/chiy/YAthe son of Ahijahעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELover all Israelבְּתִרְצָהbe/Tir/TSAin Tirzahעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

    In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didהָרַעha/RAevilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand walkedבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the way ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוּבְחַטָּאתוֹu/ve/chat/ta/TOand in his sinאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichהֶחֱטִיאhe/che/TImade to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
