   וּבִשְׁנַתand in the year ofשְׁמֹנֶה־עֶשְׂרֵהeighteenלַמֶּלֶךְof kingיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamבֶּן־נְבָטson of Nebatמָלַךְhas become kingאֲבִיָּםAbijamעַל־יְהוּדָה׃upon Judah

   Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

2. 2

   שָׁלֹשׁthreeשָׁנִיםyearsמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherמַעֲכָהMaachahבַּת־אֲבִישָׁלוֹם׃daughter of Abishalom

   Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

3. 3

   וַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּכׇל־חַטֹּאותin all the sins ofאָבִיוhis fatherאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didלְפָנָיוbefore himוְלֹא־הָיָהand not wasלְבָבוֹhis heartשָׁלֵםperfectעִם־יְהֹוָהwith the LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godכִּלְבַבlike the heart ofדָּוִדDavidאָבִיו׃his father

   And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

   כִּיforלְמַעַןin order thatדָּוִדDavidנָתַןgaveיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godלוֹto himנִירa lampבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemלְהָקִיםto raise upאֶת־בְּנוֹhis sonאַחֲרָיוafter himוּלְהַעֲמִידand by establishingאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

   Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

   אֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהhe didדָוִדDavidאֶת־הַיָּשָׁרthe rightבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְלֹא־סָרand not departedמִכֹּלof allאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהוּwhich had commanded himכֹּלallיְמֵיthe days ofחַיָּיוhis lifeרַקonlyבִּדְבַרby the word ofאוּרִיָּהUriahהַחִתִּי׃the Hittites

   Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6. 6

   וּמִלְחָמָהand warהָיְתָהwasבֵין־רְחַבְעָםbetween Rehoboamוּבֵיןand betweenיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamכׇּל־יְמֵיall days ofחַיָּיו׃his life

   And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

   וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofאֲבִיָּםAbijamוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didהֲלוֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּמִלְחָמָהand warהָיְתָהwasבֵּיןamongאֲבִיָּםAbijamוּבֵיןand betweenיָרׇבְעָם׃Jeroboam

   Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8. 8

   וַיִּשְׁכַּבand sleptאֲבִיָּםAbijamעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersוַיִּקְבְּרוּand they buriedאֹתוֹhimבְּעִירin the city ofדָּוִדDavidוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignאָסָאAsaבְנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

   And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

   וּבִשְׁנַתand in the year ofעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyלְיָרׇבְעָםto Jeroboamמֶלֶךְthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמָלַךְhas become kingאָסָאAsaמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

   And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

10. 10

    וְאַרְבָּעִיםand fortyוְאַחַתand oneשָׁנָהyearמָלַךְhas become kingבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםin Jerusalemוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִמּוֹhis motherמַעֲכָהMaachahבַּת־אֲבִישָׁלוֹם׃daughter of Abishalom

    And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

11. 11

    וַיַּעַשׂand he didאָסָאAsaהַיָּשָׁרthe rightבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּדָוִדlike Davidאָבִיו׃his father

    And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

12. 12

    וַיַּעֲבֵרand he made to passהַקְּדֵשִׁיםthe male cult prostitutesמִן־הָאָרֶץfrom the landוַיָּסַרand he removedאֶת־כׇּל־הַגִּלֻּלִיםall the idolsאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשׂוּthey didאֲבֹתָיו׃his fathers

    And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13. 13

    וְגַםand alsoאֶת־מַעֲכָהMaachahאִמּוֹhis motherוַיְסִרֶהָand he removed herמִגְּבִירָהfrom queen motherאֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָהwhich didמִפְלֶצֶתhorrorלָאֲשֵׁרָהto Asherah poleוַיִּכְרֹתand madeאָסָאAsaאֶת־מִפְלַצְתָּהּher abominable imageוַיִּשְׂרֹףand he burntבְּנַחַלin the river ofקִדְרוֹן׃Kidron

    And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

14. 14

    וְהַבָּמוֹתand the high placesלֹא־סָרוּnot were taken awayרַקonlyלְבַב־אָסָאhearts of Asaהָיָהwasשָׁלֵםperfectעִם־יְהֹוָהwith the LORDכׇּל־יָמָיו׃all his days

    But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

15. 15

    וַיָּבֵאand he broughtאֶת־קׇדְשֵׁיthe holy things ofאָבִיוhis father(וקדשו)[וְקׇדְשֵׁי]and the holy thingsבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכֶּסֶףsilverוְזָהָבand goldוְכֵלִים׃and utensils

    And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16. 16

    וּמִלְחָמָהand warהָיְתָהwasבֵּיןamongאָסָאAsaוּבֵיןand betweenבַּעְשָׁאBaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלking of Israelכׇּל־יְמֵיהֶם׃all their days

    And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

17. 17

    וַיַּעַלand he ascendedבַּעְשָׁאBaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלking of Israelעַל־יְהוּדָהupon Judahוַיִּבֶןand builtאֶת־הָרָמָהRamahלְבִלְתִּיto notתֵּתto giveיֹצֵאgoing outוָבָאand was comingלְאָסָאto Asaמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18. 18

    וַיִּקַּחand tookאָסָאAsaאֶת־כׇּל־הַכֶּסֶףall the silverוְהַזָּהָבand the goldהַנּוֹתָרִיםthe remainingבְּאוֹצְרוֹתin the treasuries ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהthe house of the LORDוְאֶת־אוֹצְרוֹתand the treasures ofבֵּיתthe house of(מלך)[הַמֶּלֶךְ]the kingוַיִּתְּנֵםand delivered themבְּיַד־עֲבָדָיוin the hand of his servantsוַיִּשְׁלָחֵםand sent out themהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingאָסָאAsaאֶל־בֶּן־הֲדַדto Ben-hadadבֶּן־טַבְרִמֹּןson of Tabrimmonבֶּן־חֶזְיוֹןson of Hezionמֶלֶךְthe king ofאֲרָםSyriaהַיֹּשֵׁבthe one who was dwellingבְּדַמֶּשֶׂקin Damascusלֵאמֹר׃saying

    Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

    בְּרִיתcovenant ofבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינֶךָand between youבֵּיןamongאָבִיmy fatherוּבֵיןand betweenאָבִיךָyour fatherהִנֵּהbeholdשָׁלַחְתִּיI sentלְךָfor youשֹׁחַדa presentכֶּסֶףsilverוְזָהָבand goldלֵךְgoהָפֵרָהbreakאֶת־בְּרִיתְךָyour covenantאֶת־בַּעְשָׁאBaashaמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלking of Israelוְיַעֲלֶהso he may go upמֵעָלָי׃from me

    There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

    וַיִּשְׁמַעand he heardבֶּן־הֲדַדBen-hadadאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְunto the kingאָסָאAsaוַיִּשְׁלַחand sentאֶת־שָׂרֵיcaptains ofהַחֲיָלִיםthe armiesאֲשֶׁר־לוֹwhich he hasעַל־עָרֵיupon the cities ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיַּךְand he smoteאֶת־עִיּוֹןIjonוְאֶת־דָּןand DanוְאֵתandאָבֵלAbel-בֵּית־מַעֲכָהbeth-maachahוְאֵתandכׇּל־כִּנְרוֹתall Cinnerothעַלuponכׇּל־אֶרֶץall land ofנַפְתָּלִי׃Naphtali

    So Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַwhen heardבַּעְשָׁאBaashaוַיֶּחְדַּלand ceasedמִבְּנוֹתfrom buildingאֶת־הָרָמָהRamahוַיֵּשֶׁבand he satבְּתִרְצָה׃in Tirzah

    And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

22. 22

    וְהַמֶּלֶךְand the kingאָסָאAsaהִשְׁמִיעַhe made proclamation toאֶת־כׇּל־יְהוּדָהall Judahאֵיןthere is noנָקִיexemptedוַיִּשְׂאוּand liftedאֶת־אַבְנֵיstones ofהָרָמָהRamahוְאֶת־עֵצֶיהָand its woodאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּנָהbuiltבַּעְשָׁאBaashaוַיִּבֶןand builtבָּםin themהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingאָסָאAsaאֶת־גֶּבַעGebaבִּנְיָמִןBenjaminוְאֶת־הַמִּצְפָּה׃and Mizpah

    Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23. 23

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofכׇּל־דִּבְרֵי־אָסָאall the words of Asaוְכׇל־גְּבוּרָתוֹand all his powerוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didוְהֶעָרִיםand the citiesאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּנָהbuiltהֲלֹא־הֵמָּהis it not theyכְתוּבִיםwritten are theyעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָהJudahרַקonlyלְעֵתto timeזִקְנָתוֹhis old ageחָלָהhe became sickאֶת־רַגְלָיו׃his feet

    The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24. 24

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבand sleptאָסָאAsaעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרand was buriedעִם־אֲבֹתָיוwith his fathersבְּעִירin the city ofדָּוִדDavidאָבִיוhis fatherוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignיְהוֹשָׁפָטJehoshaphatבְּנוֹhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

25. 25

    וְנָדָבand Nadabבֶּן־יָרׇבְעָםson of Jeroboamמָלַךְhas become kingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon Israelבִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשְׁתַּיִםtwoלְאָסָאto Asaמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon Israelשְׁנָתָיִם׃two years

    And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

26. 26

    וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofאָבִיוhis fatherוּבְחַטָּאתוֹand in his sinאֲשֶׁרwhichהֶחֱטִיאcaused to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

27. 27

    וַיִּקְשֹׁרand he conspiredעָלָיוupon himבַּעְשָׁאBaashaבֶן־אֲחִיָּהson of Ahijahלְבֵיתto the house ofיִשָּׂשכָרIssacharוַיַּכֵּהוּand smote himבַעְשָׁאBaashaבְּגִבְּתוֹןat Gibbethonאֲשֶׁרwhichלַפְּלִשְׁתִּיםto the Philistinesוְנָדָבand Nadabוְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלand all Israelצָרִיםare shutting upעַל־גִּבְּתוֹן׃upon Gibbethon

    And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

28. 28

    וַיְמִתֵהוּand he put to death himבַעְשָׁאBaashaבִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשָׁלֹשׁthreeלְאָסָאto Asaמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיו׃in his stead

    Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיand it came to passכְמׇלְכוֹwhen he became kingהִכָּהstruckאֶת־כׇּל־בֵּיתall house ofיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamלֹא־הִשְׁאִירnot he leftכׇּל־נְשָׁמָהall breathלְיָרׇבְעָםto Jeroboamעַד־הִשְׁמִדוֹuntil he had destroyed himכִּדְבַרaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֶּרspokeבְּיַד־עַבְדּוֹby the hand of his servantאֲחִיָּהAhijahהַשִּׁילֹנִי׃the Shilonite

    And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

30. 30

    עַל־חַטֹּאותbecause of the sins ofיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamאֲשֶׁרwhichחָטָאhe has committedוַאֲשֶׁרand whichהֶחֱטִיאcaused to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelבְּכַעְסוֹby his provocationאֲשֶׁרwhichהִכְעִיסhe provoked to angerאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

31. 31

    וְיֶתֶרand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofנָדָבNadabוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichעָשָׂהhe didהֲלֹא־הֵםis it not theyכְּתוּבִיםthere are writtenעַל־סֵפֶרin the book ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַיָּמִיםthe daysלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

32. 32

    And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

    בִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשָׁלֹשׁthreeלְאָסָאto Asaמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahמָלַךְhas become kingבַּעְשָׁאBaashaבֶן־אֲחִיָּהson of Ahijahעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon all Israelבְּתִרְצָהin Tirzahעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyוְאַרְבַּעand fourשָׁנָה׃years

    In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

    וַיַּעַשׂand he didהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיֵּלֶךְand wentבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamוּבְחַטָּאתוֹand in his sinאֲשֶׁרwhichהֶחֱטִיאcaused to sinאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel
