   But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

   מִן־הַגּוֹיִםmin-hag/go/YIMof the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichאָמַר־יְהֹוָהa/MAR-Adonaisaid the LORDאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֹא־תָבֹאוּlo-ta/VO/uyou shall not go inבָהֶםva/HEMamong themוְהֵםve/HEMand theyלֹא־יָבֹאוּlo-ya/VO/ushall not go inבָכֶםva/KHEMamong youאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyיַטּוּyat/TUthey will turnאֶת־לְבַבְכֶםet-le/vav/KHEMyour heartאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir godsבָּהֶםba/HEMto theseדָּבַקda/VAKclungשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonלְאַהֲבָה׃le/a/ha/VAin love

   Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

   וַיְהִי־לוֹvay/HI-loand he hadנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwivesשָׂרוֹתsa/ROTprincessesשְׁבַעshe/VAsevenמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוּפִלַגְשִׁיםu/fi/lag/SHIMand concubinesשְׁלֹשׁshe/LOSHthreeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוַיַּטּוּvay/yat/TUand turned awayנָשָׁיוna/SHAYVhis wivesאֶת־לִבּוֹ׃et-lib/BOhis heart

   And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passלְעֵתle/ETat the time ofזִקְנַתzik/NATthe old age ofשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonנָשָׁיוna/SHAYVhis wivesהִטּוּhit/TUturned awayאֶת־לְבָבוֹet-le/va/VOhis heartאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsוְלֹא־הָיָהve/LO-HA/yaand was notלְבָבוֹle/va/VOhis heartשָׁלֵםsha/LEMwholeעִם־יְהֹוָהim-Adonaiwith the LORDאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis Godכִּלְבַבkil/VAVlike the heart ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

   For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

   For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

   וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonהָרַעha/RAevilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notמִלֵּאmil/LEdid he fully followאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכְּדָוִדke/Da/VIDlike Davidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

   And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

   אָזazthenיִבְנֶהyiv/NEbuiltשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonבָּמָהba/MAa high placeלִכְמוֹשׁLikh/MOSHfor Chemoshשִׁקֻּץshik/KUTSthe detestable thing ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabבָּהָרba/HARon the mountainאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEeast ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוּלְמֹלֶךְu/Le/MO/lekhand for Molechשִׁקֻּץshik/KUTSthe detestable thing ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofעַמּוֹן׃Am/MONAmmon

   Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

   וְכֵןve/KHENand soעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלְכׇל־נָשָׁיוle/KHOL-na/SHAYVfor all his wivesהַנׇּכְרִיּוֹתhan/nokh/riy/YOTforeignמַקְטִירוֹתmak/ti/ROTwho burned incenseוּמְזַבְּחוֹתu/me/zab/be/CHOTand who sacrificedלֵאלֹהֵיהֶן׃le/lo/he/HENto their gods

   And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

   וַיִּתְאַנַּףvay/yit/an/NAFand was angryיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבִּשְׁלֹמֹהBish/lo/MOwith Solomonכִּי־נָטָהki-na/TAbecause had turned awayלְבָבוֹle/va/VOhis heartמֵעִםme/IMfromיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהַנִּרְאָהhan/nir/Awho had appearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himפַּעֲמָיִם׃pa/a/MA/yimtwo times

   And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

10. 10

    וְצִוָּהve/tsiv/VAand had commandedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARconcerning the thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְבִלְתִּי־לֶכֶתle/vil/TI-LE/khetnot to goאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsוְלֹאve/LObut notשָׁמַרsha/MARdid he keepאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהet-a/SHER-tsiv/VAwhat commandedיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִשְׁלֹמֹהLish/lo/MOto SolomonיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיְתָה־זֹּאתha/ye/TA-zotthis has beenעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמַרְתָּsha/MAR/tahave you keptבְּרִיתִיbe/ri/TIMy covenantוְחֻקֹּתַיve/chuk/ko/TAYand My statutesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI commandedעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youקָרֹעַka/RO/atearאֶקְרַעek/RAI will tearאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomמֵעָלֶיךָme/a/LE/khafrom youוּנְתַתִּיהָu/ne/tat/TI/haand I will give itלְעַבְדֶּךָ׃le/av/DE/khato your servant

    Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

    אַךְ־בְּיָמֶיךָakh-be/ya/ME/khabut in your daysלֹאlonotאֶעֱשֶׂנָּהe/e/SEN/nawill I do itלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofבִּנְךָbin/KHAyour sonאֶקְרָעֶנָּה׃ek/ra/EN/naI will tear it

    Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

13. 13

    רַקrakonlyאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-kol-ham/mam/la/KHAall the kingdomלֹאlonotאֶקְרָעek/RAwill I tear awayשֵׁבֶטSHE/vettribeאֶחָדe/CHADoneאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveלִבְנֶךָliv/NE/khato your sonלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand for the sake ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּחָרְתִּי׃ba/CHAR/tiI have chosen

    Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

14. 14

    וַיָּקֶםvay/YA/kemand raised upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשָׂטָןsa/TANan adversaryלִשְׁלֹמֹהLish/lo/MOagainst Solomonאֵת־הֲדַדet-Ha/DADHadadהָאֲדֹמִיha/A/do/MIthe Edomiteמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seed ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהוּאhuhe wasבֶּאֱדוֹם׃Be/e/DOMin Edom

    And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּהְיוֹתbih/YOTwhile wasדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶת־אֱדוֹםet-E/DOMwith Edomבַּעֲלוֹתba/a/LOTwhen went upיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabשַׂרsarthe commander ofהַצָּבָאhats/tsa/VAthe armyלְקַבֵּרle/kab/BERto buryאֶת־הַחֲלָלִיםet-ha/cha/la/LIMthe slainוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleבֶּאֱדוֹם׃Be/e/DOMin Edom

    For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

16. 16

    כִּיkiforשֵׁשֶׁתSHE/shetsixחֳדָשִׁיםcho/da/SHIMmonthsיָשַׁב־שָׁםya/SHAV-shamstayed thereיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabוְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-yis/ra/ELand all Israelעַד־הִכְרִיתad-hikh/RITuntil he cut offכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleבֶּאֱדוֹם׃Be/e/DOMin Edom

    (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

17. 17

    וַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand he fledאֲדַדA/DADHadadהוּאhuheוַאֲנָשִׁיםva/a/na/SHIMand menאֲדֹמִיִּיםA/do/miy/YIMEdomitesמֵעַבְדֵיme/av/DEof the servants ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherאִתּוֹit/TOwith himלָבוֹאla/VOto go toמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוַהֲדַדva/Ha/DADand HadadנַעַרNA/ara boyקָטָן׃ka/TANsmall

    That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

18. 18

    וַיָּקֻמוּvay/ya/KU/muand they aroseמִמִּדְיָןmim/Mid/YANfrom Midianוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameפָּארָןPa/RANto Paranוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenעִמָּםim/MAMwith themמִפָּארָןmip/Pa/RANfrom Paranוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimto Egyptאֶל־פַּרְעֹהel-Par/Oto Pharaohמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-lowho gave himבַיִתVA/yita houseוְלֶחֶםve/LE/chemand foodאָמַרa/MARassignedלוֹloto himוְאֶרֶץve/E/retsand landנָתַןna/TANgaveלוֹ׃loto him

    And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

19. 19

    וַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundהֲדַדHa/DADHadadחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand gave to himאִשָּׁהish/SHAas a wifeאֶת־אֲחוֹתet-a/CHOTthe sister ofאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeאֲחוֹתa/CHOTthe sister ofתַּחְפְּנֵיסTach/pe/NESTahpenesהַגְּבִירָה׃hag/ge/vi/RAthe queen

    And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

20. 20

    וַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand boreלוֹloto himאֲחוֹתa/CHOTthe sister ofתַּחְפְּנֵיסTach/pe/NESTahpenesאֵת־גְּנֻבַתet-Ge/nu/VATGenubathבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonוַתִּגְמְלֵהוּvat/tig/me/LE/huand she weaned himתַחְפְּנֵסTach/pe/NESTahpenesבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasגְנֻבַתGe/nu/VATGenubathבֵּיתbetin the house ofפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofפַרְעֹה׃Far/OPharaoh

    And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

21. 21

    וַהֲדַדva/Ha/DADand Hadadשָׁמַעsha/MAheardבְּמִצְרַיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptכִּי־שָׁכַבki-sha/KHAVthat had lain downדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוְכִי־מֵתve/KHI-metand that was deadיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabשַׂר־הַצָּבָאsar-hats/tsa/VAthe commander of the armyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֲדַדHa/DADHadadאֶל־פַּרְעֹהel-Par/Oto Pharaohשַׁלְּחֵנִיshal/le/CHE/nisend me awayוְאֵלֵךְve/e/LEKHthat I may goאֶל־אַרְצִי׃el-ar/TSIto my land

    And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohכִּיkibutמָה־אַתָּהma-at/TAwhat have youחָסֵרcha/SERlackedעִמִּיim/MIwith meוְהִנְּךָve/hin/ne/KHAthat behold youמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHare seekingלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאֶל־אַרְצֶךָel-ar/TSE/khato your landוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonothingכִּיkibutשַׁלֵּחַshal/LE/achsendתְּשַׁלְּחֵנִי׃te/shal/le/CHE/niyou must send me

    Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

23. 23

    וַיָּקֶםvay/YA/kemand raised upאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלוֹloagainst himשָׂטָןsa/TANan adversaryאֶת־רְזוֹןet-Re/ZONRezonבֶּן־אֶלְיָדָעben-El/ya/DAthe son of Eliadaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּרַחba/RACHhad fledמֵאֵתme/ETfromהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHa/dad/E/zerHadadezerמֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָהME/lekh-Tso/VAthe king of Zobahאֲדֹנָיו׃a/do/NAYVhis lord

    And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

24. 24

    וַיִּקְבֹּץvay/yik/BOTSand he gatheredעָלָיוa/LAYVto himאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוַיְהִיvay/HIand he becameשַׂר־גְּדוּדsar-ge/DUDthe commander of a bandבַּהֲרֹגba/ha/ROGwhen killedדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentדַמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekto Damascusוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand dweltבָהּvain itוַיִּמְלְכוּvay/yim/le/KHUand they reignedבְּדַמָּשֶׂק׃be/Dam/MA/sekin Damascus

    And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasשָׂטָןsa/TANan adversaryלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELto Israelכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonוְאֶת־הָרָעָהve/ET-ha/ra/Abesides the evilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֲדָדHa/DADHadadוַיָּקׇץvay/YA/kotsand he abhorredבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלBe/yis/ra/ELIsraelוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand he reignedעַל־אֲרָם׃al-A/RAMover Aram

    And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

    וְיָרׇבְעָםve/Ya/rov/AMand Jeroboamבֶּן־נְבָטben-Ne/VATthe son of NebatאֶפְרָתִיEf/ra/TIan Ephrathiteמִן־הַצְּרֵדָהmin-Hats/tse/re/DAof Zeredahוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherצְרוּעָהTse/ru/AZeruahאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanאַלְמָנָהal/ma/NAa widowעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofלִשְׁלֹמֹהLish/lo/MOof Solomonוַיָּרֶםvay/YA/remand he lifted upיָדyada handבַּמֶּלֶךְ׃bam/ME/lekhagainst the king

    And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

    וְזֶהve/ZEand this wasהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterאֲשֶׁר־הֵרִיםa/SHER-he/RIMthat he lifted upיָדyada handבַּמֶּלֶךְbam/ME/lekhagainst the kingשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonבָּנָהba/NAbuiltאֶת־הַמִּלּוֹאet-Ham/mil/LOthe Milloסָגַרsa/GARclosed upאֶת־פֶּרֶץet-PE/retsthe breach ofעִירirthe city ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

    וְהָאִישׁve/ha/ISHand the manיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamגִּבּוֹרgib/BORa mighty manחָיִלCHA/yilof valorוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonאֶת־הַנַּעַרet-han/NA/arthe young manכִּי־עֹשֵׂהki-o/SEthat a doer ofמְלָאכָהme/la/KHAworkהוּאhuhe wasוַיַּפְקֵדvay/yaf/KEDand he appointedאֹתוֹo/TOhimלְכׇל־סֵבֶלle/KHOL-SE/velover all the forced labor ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofיוֹסֵף׃Yo/SEFJoseph

    And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוְיָרׇבְעָםve/Ya/rov/AMand Jeroboamיָצָאya/TSAwent outמִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemוַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲחִיָּהA/chiy/YAAhijahהַשִּׁילֹנִיhash/Shi/lo/NIthe Shiloniteהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוְהוּאve/HUand heמִתְכַּסֶּהmit/kas/SEhad covered himselfבְּשַׂלְמָהbe/sal/MAwith a cloakחֲדָשָׁהcha/da/SHAnewוּשְׁנֵיהֶםu/she/ne/HEMand the two of themלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMwere aloneבַּשָּׂדֶה׃bas/sa/DEin the field

    And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

30. 30

    וַיִּתְפֹּשׂvay/yit/POSand took hold ofאֲחִיָּהA/chiy/YAAhijahבַּשַּׂלְמָהbas/sal/MAthe cloakהַחֲדָשָׁהha/cha/da/SHAthe newאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himוַיִּקְרָעֶהָvay/yik/ra/E/haand he tore itשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveקְרָעִים׃ke/ra/IMpieces

    And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְיָרׇבְעָםle/Ya/rov/AMto Jeroboamקַח־לְךָkach-le/KHAtake for yourselfעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenקְרָעִיםke/ra/IMpiecesכִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iקֹרֵעַko/RE/aam tearingאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveלְךָle/KHAto youאֵת־עֲשָׂרָהet-a/sa/RAtenהַשְּׁבָטִים׃hash/she/va/TIMthe tribes

    And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

32. 32

    וְהַשֵּׁבֶטve/hash/SHE/vetand the tribeהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneיִהְיֶה־לּוֹyih/YE-loshall be hisלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantדָוִדDa/VIDDavidוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand for the sake ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּחַרְתִּיba/CHAR/tiI have chosenבָהּvain itמִכֹּלmik/KOLout of allשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

33. 33

    יַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעֲזָבוּנִיa/za/VU/nithey have forsaken Meוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּvay/yish/ta/cha/VUand have bowed downלְעַשְׁתֹּרֶתle/Ash/TO/retto Ashtorethאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe god ofצִדֹנִיןTsi/do/NINthe SidoniansלִכְמוֹשׁLikh/MOSHto Chemoshאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe god ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabוּלְמִלְכֹּםu/Le/mil/KOMand to Milcomאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe god ofבְנֵי־עַמּוֹןve/NE-am/MONthe children of Ammonוְלֹא־הָלְכוּve/LO-ha/le/KHUand have not walkedבִדְרָכַיvid/ra/KHAYin My waysלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַיָּשָׁרhay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינַיbe/e/NAYin My eyesוְחֻקֹּתַיve/chuk/ko/TAYand My statutesוּמִשְׁפָּטַיu/mish/pa/TAYand My judgmentsכְּדָוִדke/Da/VIDlike Davidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

34. 34

    וְלֹא־אֶקַּחve/LO-ek/KACHbut I will not takeאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-kol-ham/mam/la/KHAall the kingdomמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOfrom his handכִּיkiforנָשִׂיאna/SIprinceאֲשִׁתֶנּוּa/shi/TEN/nuI will make himכֹּלkolallיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofחַיָּיוchay/YAYVhis lifeלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomבָּחַרְתִּיba/CHAR/tiI choseאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשָׁמַרsha/MARkeptמִצְוֺתַיmits/vo/TAYMy commandmentsוְחֻקֹּתָי׃ve/chuk/ko/TAYand My statutes

    Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

35. 35

    וְלָקַחְתִּיve/la/kach/TIand I will takeהַמְּלוּכָהham/me/lu/KHAthe kingshipמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonוּנְתַתִּיהָu/ne/tat/TI/haand I will give itלְּךָle/KHAto youאֵת־עֲשֶׂרֶתet-a/SE/rettenהַשְּׁבָטִים׃hash/she/va/TIMthe tribes

    But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

36. 36

    וְלִבְנוֹve/liv/NOand for his sonאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveשֵׁבֶט־אֶחָדSHE/vet-e/CHADone tribeלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatהֱיוֹת־נִירhe/YOT-nirthere may be a lampלְדָוִיד־עַבְדִּיle/Da/VID-av/DIfor David My servantכׇּל־הַיָּמִיםkol-hay/ya/MIMall the daysלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore Meבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּחַרְתִּיba/CHAR/tiI have chosenלִיlifor Myselfלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putשְׁמִיshe/MIMy nameשָׁם׃shamthere

    And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

37. 37

    וְאֹתְךָve/ot/KHAand youאֶקַּחek/KACHI will takeוּמָלַכְתָּu/ma/lakh/TAand you will reignבְּכֹלbe/KHOLover allאֲשֶׁר־תְּאַוֶּהa/SHER-te/av/VEthat desiresנַפְשֶׁךָnaf/SHE/khayour soulוְהָיִיתָve/ha/YI/taand you shall beמֶּלֶךְME/lekhkingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELover Israel

    And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.

38. 38

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־תִּשְׁמַעim-tish/MAif you hearאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERto all thatאֲצַוֶּךָa/tsav/ve/KHAI will command youוְהָלַכְתָּve/ha/lakh/TAand you will walkבִדְרָכַיvid/ra/KHAYin My waysוְעָשִׂיתָve/a/SI/taand doהַיָּשָׁרhay/ya/SHARwhat was rightבְּעֵינַיbe/e/NAYin My eyesלִשְׁמוֹרlish/MORto keepחֻקּוֹתַיchuk/ko/TAYMy statutesוּמִצְוֺתַיu/mits/vo/TAYand My commandmentsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשָׂהa/SAdidדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantוְהָיִיתִיve/ha/YI/tithen I will beעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוּבָנִיתִיu/va/NI/tiand I will buildלְךָle/KHAfor youבַיִת־נֶאֱמָןVA/yit-ne/e/MANa sure houseכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasבָּנִיתִיba/NI/tiI have builtלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDfor Davidוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveלְךָle/KHAto youאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

39. 39

    וַאעַנֶּהva/an/NEand I will afflictאֶת־זֶרַעet-ZE/rathe seed ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidלְמַעַןle/MA/anbecause ofזֹאתzotthisאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotכׇל־הַיָּמִים׃khol-hay/ya/MIMforever

    And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

40. 40

    וַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand soughtשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killאֶת־יָרׇבְעָםet-Ya/rov/AMJeroboamוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand he fledמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimto Egyptאֶל־שִׁישַׁקel-Shi/SHAKto Shishakמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptוַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasבְמִצְרַיִםve/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptעַד־מוֹתad-motuntil the death ofשְׁלֹמֹה׃She/lo/MOSolomon

    Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

41. 41

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all thatעָשָׂהa/SAhe didוְחׇכְמָתוֹve/chokh/ma/TOand his wisdomהֲלוֹא־הֵםha/LO-hemare they notכְּתֻבִיםke/tu/VIMwrittenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofשְׁלֹמֹה׃She/lo/MOSolomon

    And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

42. 42

    וְהַיָּמִיםve/hay/ya/MIMand the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonבִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםVi/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELover all Israelאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

    And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43. 43

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּעִירbe/IRin the city ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedרְחַבְעָםRe/chav/AMRehoboamבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
