   Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

   כִּיforיְהוּדָהJudahגָּבַרprevailedבְּאֶחָיוover-his-brothersוּלְנָגִידand-for-the-chief-rulerמִמֶּנּוּcame-from-himוְהַבְּכֹרָהand-the-birthrightלְיוֹסֵף׃to-Joseph

   For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's:)

3. 3

   בְּנֵיthe-sons-ofרְאוּבֵןReubenבְּכוֹרthe-firstborn-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelחֲנוֹךְEnochוּפַלּוּאand-PalluחֶצְרוֹןHezronוְכַרְמִי׃and-Carmi

   The sons, I say, of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

   בְּנֵיthe-sons-ofיוֹאֵלJoelשְׁמַעְיָהShemaiahבְנוֹhis-sonגּוֹגGogבְּנוֹhis-sonשִׁמְעִיShimeiבְנוֹ׃his-son

   The sons of Joel; Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

   מִיכָהMicahבְנוֹhis-sonרְאָיָהReaiahבְנוֹhis-sonבַּעַלBaalבְּנוֹ׃his-son

   Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son,

6. 6

   בְּאֵרָהBeerahבְנוֹhis-sonאֲשֶׁרwhichהֶגְלָהcarried-away-into-exileתִּלְּגַתTiglath-פִּלְנְאֶסֶרpileserמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofאַשֻּׁרAssyriaהוּאheנָשִׂיאprince-ofלָראוּבֵנִי׃the-Reubenites

   Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.

   וְאֶחָיוand-his-brethrenלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָיוaccording-to-their-familiesבְּהִתְיַחֵשׂwhen-was-reckonedלְתֹלְדוֹתָםto-their-generationsהָרֹאשׁthe-chiefיְעִיאֵלJeielוּזְכַרְיָהוּ׃and-Zechariah

   And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

8. 8

   וּבֶלַעand-Belaבֶּן־עָזָזson-of-Azazבֶּן־שֶׁמַעson-of-Shemaבֶּן־יוֹאֵלson-of-Joelהוּאheיוֹשֵׁבwho-dweltבַּעֲרֹעֵרin-Aroerוְעַד־נְבוֹas-far-as-Neboוּבַעַלand-Baal-מְעוֹן׃meon

   And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-meon:

9. 9

   וְלַמִּזְרָחand-eastwardיָשַׁבhe-inhabitedעַד־לְבוֹאas-far-as-the-entrance-ofמִדְבָּרָהthe-wildernessלְמִן־הַנָּהָרfrom-the-riverפְּרָתEuphratesכִּיbecauseמִקְנֵיהֶםtheir-cattleרָבוּthey-had-multipliedבְּאֶרֶץin-the-land-ofגִּלְעָד׃Gilead

   And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

10. 10

    וּבִימֵיand-in-the-days-ofשָׁאוּלSaulעָשׂוּthey-didמִלְחָמָהwarעִם־הַהַגְרִאִיםwith-the-Hagaritesוַיִּפְּלוּand-they-fellבְּיָדָםinto-their-handsוַיֵּשְׁבוּand-they-had-dweltבְּאׇהֳלֵיהֶםin-their-tentsעַל־כׇּל־פְּנֵיthroughout-all-the-face-ofמִזְרָחthe-eastלַגִּלְעָד׃of-Gilead

    And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.

11. 11

    וּבְנֵי־גָדand-sons-of-Gadלְנֶגְדָּםopposite-themיָשְׁבוּdweltבְּאֶרֶץin-the-land-ofהַבָּשָׁןBashanעַד־סַלְכָה׃as-far-as-Salchah

    And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salchah:

12. 12

    יוֹאֵלJoelהָרֹאשׁthe-chiefוְשָׁפָםand-Shaphamהַמִּשְׁנֶהthe-nextוְיַעְנַיand-Janaiוְשָׁפָטand-Shaphatבַּבָּשָׁן׃in-Bashan

    Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.

13. 13

    וַאֲחֵיהֶםand-their-brethrenלְבֵיתto-the-house-ofאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםtheir-fathersמִיכָאֵלMichaelוּמְשֻׁלָּםand-Meshullamוְשֶׁבַעand-Shebaוְיוֹרַיand-Joraiוְיַעְכָּןand-Jakanוְזִיעַand-Ziaוָעֵבֶרand-Eberשִׁבְעָה׃seven

    And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

14. 14

    אֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofאֲבִיחַיִלAbihailבֶּן־חוּרִיson-of-Huriבֶּן־יָרוֹחַson-of-Jaroahבֶּן־גִּלְעָדson-of-Gileadבֶּן־מִיכָאֵלson-of-Michaelבֶּן־יְשִׁישַׁיson-of-Jeshishaiבֶּן־יַחְדּוֹson-of-Jahdoבֶּן־בּוּז׃son-of-Buz

    These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;

15. 15

    אֲחִיthe-brother-ofבֶּן־עַבְדִּיאֵלson-of-Abdielבֶּן־גּוּנִיson-of-Guniרֹאשׁchief-ofלְבֵיתto-the-house-ofאֲבוֹתָם׃their-fathers

    Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.

16. 16

    וַיֵּשְׁבוּand-they-had-dweltבַּגִּלְעָדin-Gileadבַּבָּשָׁןin-Bashanוּבִבְנֹתֶיהָand-in-its-hamletsוּבְכׇל־מִגְרְשֵׁיand-in-all-the-pasture-lands-ofשָׁרוֹןSharonעַל־תּוֹצְאוֹתָם׃to-their-limits

    And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.

17. 17

    כֻּלָּםall-theseהִתְיַחְשׂוּwere-reckoned-by-genealogiesבִּימֵיin-the-days-ofיוֹתָםJothamמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking-of-Judahוּבִימֵיand-in-the-days-ofיָרׇבְעָםJeroboamמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃king-of-Israel

    All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

18. 18

    בְּנֵי־רְאוּבֵןsons-of-Reubenוְגָדִיand-the-Gaditesוַחֲצִיand-one-half-ofשֵׁבֶט־מְנַשֶּׁהthe-tribe-of-Manassehמִן־בְּנֵי־חַיִלof-men-at-armsאֲנָשִׁיםmenנֹשְׂאֵיable-to-bearמָגֵןshieldוְחֶרֶבand-sword-ofוְדֹרְכֵיand-to-drawקֶשֶׁתa-bowוּלְמוּדֵיand-skilful-inמִלְחָמָהwarאַרְבָּעִיםfortyוְאַרְבָּעָהand-fourאֶלֶףthousandוּשְׁבַע־מֵאוֹתand-seven-hundredוְשִׁשִּׁיםand-sixtyיֹצְאֵיwho-went-out-toצָבָא׃war

    The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

19. 19

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּand-they-didמִלְחָמָהwarעִם־הַהַגְרִיאִיםwith-the-Hagaritesוִיטוּרand-Jeturוְנָפִישׁand-Naphishוְנוֹדָב׃and-Nodab

    And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.

20. 20

    וַיֵּעָזְרוּand-they-were-helpedעֲלֵיהֶםupon-themוַיִּנָּתְנוּand-were-deliveredבְיָדָםin-their-handהַהַגְרִיאִיםthe-Hagaritesוְכֹלand-allשֶׁעִמָּהֶםthat-were-with-themכִּיbecauseלֵאלֹהִיםto-Godזָעֲקוּthey-criedבַּמִּלְחָמָהin-the-battleוְנַעְתּוֹרand-he-granted-their-entreatyלָהֶםto-themכִּי־בָטְחוּbecause-they-put-their-trustבוֹ׃in-him

    And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁבּוּand-they-took-awayמִקְנֵיהֶםtheir-cattleגְּמַלֵּיהֶםtheir-camelsחֲמִשִּׁיםfiftyאֶלֶףthousandוְצֹאןand-of-sheepמָאתַיִםtwo-hundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםand-fiftyאֶלֶףthousandוַחֲמוֹרִיםand-donkeysאַלְפָּיִםtwo-thousandוְנֶפֶשׁand-of-souls-ofאָדָםmenמֵאָהa-hundredאָלֶף׃thousand

    And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.

22. 22

    כִּי־חֲלָלִיםfor-slainרַבִּיםmanyנָפָלוּthere-fell-downכִּיbecauseמֵהָאֱלֹהִיםwas-from-Godהַמִּלְחָמָהthe-battleוַיֵּשְׁבוּand-they-had-dweltתַחְתֵּיהֶםin-their-steadעַד־הַגֹּלָה׃until-the-exile

    For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.

23. 23

    וּבְנֵיand-sons-ofחֲצִיhalfשֵׁבֶטtribe-ofמְנַשֶּׁהManassehיָשְׁבוּdweltבָּאָרֶץin-the-landמִבָּשָׁןfrom-Bashanעַד־בַּעַלto-Baal-חֶרְמוֹןhermonוּשְׂנִירand-Senirוְהַר־חֶרְמוֹןand-to-mount-Hermonהֵמָּהtheyרָבוּ׃they-increased

    And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baal-hermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.

24. 24

    וְאֵלֶּהand-theseרָאשֵׁיthe-heads-ofבֵית־אֲבוֹתָםthe-houses-of-their-fathersוְעֵפֶרand-Epherוְיִשְׁעִיand-Ishiוֶאֱלִיאֵלand-Elielוְעַזְרִיאֵלand-Azrielוְיִרְמְיָהand-Jeremiahוְהוֹדַוְיָהand-Hodaviahוְיַחְדִּיאֵלand-Jahdielאֲנָשִׁיםmenגִּבּוֹרֵיmighty-men-ofחַיִלvalorאַנְשֵׁיmen-ofשֵׁמוֹתrenownרָאשִׁיםand-heads-ofלְבֵיתto-the-house-ofאֲבוֹתָם׃their-fathers

    And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.

25. 25

    וַיִּמְעֲלוּand-they-transgressedבֵּאלֹהֵיagainst-the-God-ofאֲבֹתֵיהֶםtheir-fathersוַיִּזְנוּand-went-astrayאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהֵיthe-gods-ofעַמֵּי־הָאָרֶץthe-peoples-of-the-landאֲשֶׁר־הִשְׁמִידwhom-destroyedאֱלֹהִיםGodמִפְּנֵיהֶם׃from-before-them

    And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.

26. 26

    וַיָּעַרand-stirred-upאֱלֹהֵיthe-God-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֶת־רוּחַthe-spirit-ofפּוּלPulמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרthe-king-of-Assyriaוְאֶת־רוּחַand-the-spirit-ofתִּלְּגַתTiglath-פִּלְנֶסֶרpileserמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofאַשּׁוּרAssyriaוַיַּגְלֵםand-he-carried-them-awayלָראוּבֵנִיthe-Reubenitesוְלַגָּדִיand-the-Gaditesוְלַחֲצִיand-the-half-ofשֵׁבֶטtribe-ofמְנַשֶּׁהManassehוַיְבִיאֵםand-brought-themלַחְלַחto-Halahוְחָבוֹרand-Haborוְהָרָאand-Haraוּנְהַרand-to-the-river-ofגּוֹזָןGozanעַדuntilהַיּוֹםthe-dayהַזֶּה׃this

    And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.

27. 27

    בְּנֵיthe-sons-ofלֵוִיLeviגֵּרְשׁוֹןGershonקְהָתKohathוּמְרָרִי׃and-Merari

    The sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

28. 28

    וּבְנֵיand-sons-ofקְהָתKohathעַמְרָםAmramיִצְהָרIzharוְחֶבְרוֹןand-Hebronוְעֻזִּיאֵל׃and-Uzziel

    And the sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.

29. 29

    וּבְנֵיand-sons-ofעַמְרָםAmramאַהֲרֹןAaronוּמֹשֶׁהand-Mosesוּמִרְיָםand-Miriamוּבְנֵיand-sons-ofאַהֲרֹןAaronנָדָבNadabוַאֲבִיהוּאand-AbihuאֶלְעָזָרEleazarוְאִיתָמָר׃and-Ithamar

    And the children of Amram; Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. The sons also of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

30. 30

    אֶלְעָזָרEleazarהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־פִּינְחָסPhinehasפִּינְחָסPhinehasהֹלִידbegotאֶת־אֲבִישׁוּעַ׃Abishua

    Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua,

31. 31

    וַאֲבִישׁוּעַand-Abishuaהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־בֻּקִּיBukkiוּבֻקִּיand-Bukkiהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־עֻזִּי׃Uzzi

    And Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi,

32. 32

    וְעֻזִּיand-Uzziהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־זְרַחְיָהZerahiahוּזְרַחְיָהand-Zerahiahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־מְרָיוֹת׃Meraioth

    And Uzzi begat Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begat Meraioth,

33. 33

    מְרָיוֹתMeraiothהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־אֲמַרְיָהAmariahוַאֲמַרְיָהand-Amariahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־אֲחִיטוּב׃Ahitub

    Meraioth begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,

34. 34

    וַאֲחִיטוּבand-Ahitubהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־צָדוֹקZadokוְצָדוֹקand-Zadokהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־אֲחִימָעַץ׃Ahimaaz

    And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz,

35. 35

    וַאֲחִימַעַץand-Ahimaazהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־עֲזַרְיָהAzariahוַעֲזַרְיָהand-Azariahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־יוֹחָנָן׃Johanan

    And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan,

36. 36

    וְיוֹחָנָןand-Johananהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־עֲזַרְיָהAzariahהוּאhe-it-isאֲשֶׁרwhichכִּהֵןexecuted-the-priests-officeבַּבַּיִתin-the-templeאֲשֶׁר־בָּנָהwhich-builtשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃in-Jerusalem

    And Johanan begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:)

37. 37

    וַיּוֹלֶדand-begatעֲזַרְיָהAzariahאֶת־אֲמַרְיָהAmariahוַאֲמַרְיָהand-Amariahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־אֲחִיטוּב׃Ahitub

    And Azariah begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,

38. 38

    וַאֲחִיטוּבand-Ahitubהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־צָדוֹקZadokוְצָדוֹקand-Zadokהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־שַׁלּוּם׃Shallum

    And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum,

39. 39

    וְשַׁלּוּםand-Shallumהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־חִלְקִיָּהHilkiahוְחִלְקִיָּהand-Hilkiahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־עֲזַרְיָה׃Azariah

    And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah,

40. 40

    וַעֲזַרְיָהand-Azariahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־שְׂרָיָהSeraiahוּשְׂרָיָהand-Seraiahהוֹלִידbegotאֶת־יְהוֹצָדָק׃Jehozadak

    And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak,

41. 41

    וִיהוֹצָדָקand-Jehozadakהָלַךְwent-into-exileבְּהַגְלוֹתwhen-carried-awayיְהֹוָהthe-LORDאֶת־יְהוּדָהJudahוִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםand-Jerusalemבְּיַדin-the-hand-ofנְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר׃Nebuchadnezzar

    And Jehozadak went into captivity, when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
