1. 1

   וַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןhereafterוַיַּךְand-smoteדָּוִידDavidאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםPhilistinesוַיַּכְנִיעֵםand-he-subdued-themוַיִּקַּחand-tookאֶת־גַּתGathוּבְנֹתֶיהָand-its-hamletsמִיַּדfrom-the-hand-ofפְּלִשְׁתִּים׃Philistines

   Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

   וַיַּךְand-he-smoteאֶת־מוֹאָבMoabוַיִּהְיוּand-they-wereמוֹאָבMoabעֲבָדִיםservantsלְדָוִידof-Davidנֹשְׂאֵיand-broughtמִנְחָה׃tribute

   And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

   וַיַּךְand-smoteדָּוִידDavidאֶת־הֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerמֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָהking-of-Zobahחֲמָתָהas-far-as-Hamathבְּלֶכְתּוֹas-he-wentלְהַצִּיבto-set-upיָדוֹhis-dominionבִּנְהַר־פְּרָת׃at-the-river-Euphrates

   And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

   וַיִּלְכֹּדand-capturedדָּוִידDavidמִמֶּנּוּfrom-himאֶלֶףthousandרֶכֶבchariotsוְשִׁבְעַתand-sevenאֲלָפִיםthousandפָּרָשִׁיםhorsemenוְעֶשְׂרִיםand-twentyאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁmenרַגְלִיfootmenוַיְעַקֵּרand-lamedדָּוִידDavidאֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶכֶבall-the-chariot-horsesוַיּוֹתֵרbut-reservedמִמֶּנּוּfrom-himמֵאָהa-hundredרָכֶב׃chariots

   And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

   וַיָּבֹאand-cameאֲרַםSyriaדַּרְמֶשֶׂקDamascusלַעְזוֹרto-helpלַהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofצוֹבָהZobahוַיַּךְslewדָּוִידDavidבַּאֲרָםof-Syriaעֶשְׂרִים־וּשְׁנַיִםtwenty-and-twoאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁ׃men

   And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

   וַיָּשֶׂםthen-put-garrisonsדָּוִידDavidבַּאֲרַםin-SyriaדַּרְמֶשֶׂקDamascusוַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passאֲרָםSyriaלְדָוִידof-Davidעֲבָדִיםservantsנֹשְׂאֵיand-broughtמִנְחָהtributeוַיּוֹשַׁעand-preservedיְהֹוָהthe-LORDלְדָוִידof-Davidבְּכֹלin-allאֲשֶׁרwhichהָלָךְ׃he-went

   Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

   וַיִּקַּחand-tookדָּוִידDavidאֵת־שִׁלְטֵיthe-shields-ofהַזָּהָבthe-goldאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיוּwereעַלuponעַבְדֵיservants-ofהֲדַדְעָזֶרHadadezerוַיְבִיאֵםand-he-brought-themיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

   And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

   וּמִטִּבְחַתlikewise-from-Tibhathוּמִכּוּןand-from-Kunעָרֵיcities-ofהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerלָקַחtookדָּוִידDavidנְחֹשֶׁתbrassרַבָּהmuchמְאֹדexceedinglyבָּהּwith-whichעָשָׂהmadeשְׁלֹמֹהSolomonאֶת־יָםthe-seaהַנְּחֹשֶׁתthe-brassוְאֶת־הָעַמּוּדִיםand-the-pillarsוְאֵתandכְּלֵיvessels-ofהַנְּחֹשֶׁת׃the-brass

   Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעand-he-heardתֹּעוּTouמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofחֲמָתHamathכִּיbecauseהִכָּהhad-smittenדָוִידDavidאֶת־כׇּל־חֵילall-the-army-ofהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerמֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָה׃king-of-Zobah

   Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand-sentאֶת־הֲדוֹרָם־בְּנוֹHadoram-his-sonאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ־דָּוִידto-the-king-David(לשאול)[לִשְׁאׇל־]לוֹto-inquire-of-hisלְשָׁלוֹםwelfareוּלְבָרְכוֹand-to-congratulate-himעַלuponאֲשֶׁרwhichנִלְחַםhe-had-foughtבַּהֲדַדְעֶזֶרagainst-Hadadezerוַיַּכֵּהוּand-smitten-himכִּי־אִישׁfor-a-man-ofמִלְחֲמוֹתthe-wars-ofתֹּעוּTouהָיָהwasהֲדַדְעָזֶרHadadezerוְכֹלand-all-manner-ofכְּלֵיvessels-ofזָהָבgoldוָכֶסֶףand-silverוּנְחֹשֶׁת׃and-of-brass

    He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

    גַּם־אֹתָםalso-themהִקְדִּישׁconsecratedהַמֶּלֶךְthe-kingדָּוִידDavidלַיהֹוָהto-the-LORDעִם־הַכֶּסֶףwith-the-silverוְהַזָּהָבand-the-goldאֲשֶׁרwhichנָשָׂאhe-carried-awayמִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםfrom-all-these-nationsמֵאֱדוֹםfrom-Edomוּמִמּוֹאָבand-from-Moabוּמִבְּנֵיand-of-sons-ofעַמּוֹןAmmonוּמִפְּלִשְׁתִּיםand-from-the-Philistinesוּמֵעֲמָלֵק׃and-from-Amalek

    Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12. 12

    וְאַבְשַׁיand-Abishaiבֶּן־צְרוּיָהson-of-Zeruiahהִכָּהstruckאֶת־אֱדוֹםEdomבְּגֵיאin-the-valley-ofהַמֶּלַחsaltשְׁמוֹנָה־עָשָׂרeighteenאָלֶף׃thousand

    Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.

13. 13

    וַיָּשֶׂםand-he-setבֶּאֱדוֹםin-Edomנְצִיבִיםgarrisonsוַיִּהְיוּand-they-wereכׇל־אֱדוֹםall-Edomעֲבָדִיםservantsלְדָוִידof-Davidוַיּוֹשַׁעand-preservedיְהֹוָהthe-LORDאֶת־דָּוִידDavidבְּכֹלin-allאֲשֶׁרwhichהָלָךְ׃he-went

    And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

14. 14

    וַיִּמְלֹךְand-did-reignדָּוִידDavidעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלupon-all-Israelוַיְהִיandעֹשֶׂהexecutedמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוּצְדָקָהand-justiceלְכׇל־עַמּוֹ׃among-all-his-people

    So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

15. 15

    וְיוֹאָבand-Joabבֶּן־צְרוּיָהson-of-Zeruiahעַל־הַצָּבָאwas-over-the-hostוִיהוֹשָׁפָטand-Jehoshaphatבֶּן־אֲחִילוּדson-of-Ahiludמַזְכִּיר׃was-recorder

    And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.

16. 16

    וְצָדוֹקand-Zadokבֶּן־אֲחִיטוּבson-of-Ahitubוַאֲבִימֶלֶךְand-Abimelechבֶּן־אֶבְיָתָרson-of-Abiatharכֹּהֲנִיםwere-the-priestsוְשַׁוְשָׁאand-Shavshaסוֹפֵר׃was-secretary

    And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

17. 17

    וּבְנָיָהוּand-Benaiahבֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָעson-of-Jehoiadaעַל־הַכְּרֵתִיupon-the-Cherethitesוְהַפְּלֵתִיand-the-Pelethitesוּבְנֵי־דָוִידand-sons-of-Davidהָרִאשֹׁנִיםwere-chief-ministersלְיַדaboutהַמֶּלֶךְ׃the-king

    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
