   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafter thisוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםet-Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיַּכְנִיעֵםvay/yakh/ni/EMand subdued themוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־גַּתet-GatGathוּבְנֹתֶיהָu/ve/no/TE/haand its villagesמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofפְּלִשְׁתִּים׃Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistines

   Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

   וַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־מוֹאָבet-Mo/AVMoabוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand becameמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDto Davidנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ebearers ofמִנְחָה׃min/CHAtribute

   And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

   וַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאֶת־הֲדַדְעֶזֶרet-Ha/dad/E/zerHadadezerמֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָהME/lekh-Tso/VAthe king of ZobahחֲמָתָהCha/MA/taat Hamathבְּלֶכְתּוֹbe/lekh/TOas he wentלְהַצִּיבle/hats/TSIVto establishיָדוֹya/DOhis handבִּנְהַר־פְּרָת׃bin/HAR-Pe/RATat the river Euphrates

   And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

   And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

   And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

   וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semthen putדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidבַּאֲרַםba/A/RAMin AramדַּרְמֶשֶׂקDar/ME/sekDamascusוַיְהִיvay/HIand becameאֲרָםA/RAMAramלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDto Davidעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ebearers ofמִנְחָהmin/CHAtributeוַיּוֹשַׁעvay/YO/shaand savedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְדָוִידLe/da/VIDDavidבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלָךְ׃ha/LAKHhe went

   Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאֵת־שִׁלְטֵיet-shil/TEthe shields ofהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVgoldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיוּha/YUwereעַלalonעַבְדֵיav/DEthe servants ofהֲדַדְעָזֶרHa/dad/A/zerHadadezerוַיְבִיאֵםvay/vi/EMand brought themיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalem

   And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

   Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardתֹּעוּTO/uTouמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofחֲמָתCha/MATHamathכִּיkithatהִכָּהhik/KAhad struckדָוִידDa/VIDDavidאֶת־כׇּל־חֵילet-kol-chelall the army ofהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHa/dad/E/zerHadadezerמֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָה׃ME/lekh-Tso/VAthe king of Zobah

   Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֶת־הֲדוֹרָם־בְּנוֹet-Ha/do/RAM-be/NOHadoram his sonאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ־דָּוִידel-Ham/ME/lekh-da/VIDto King David(לשאול)lashval[לִשְׁאׇל־]לוֹlish/OL-loto ask himלְשָׁלוֹםle/sha/LOMof peaceוּלְבָרְכוֹu/le/va/re/KHOand to bless himעַלalbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִלְחַםnil/CHAMhe had foughtבַּהֲדַדְעֶזֶרba/Ha/dad/E/zeragainst Hadadezerוַיַּכֵּהוּvay/yak/KE/huand struck himכִּי־אִישׁki-ishfor a man ofמִלְחֲמוֹתmil/cha/MOTwars withתֹּעוּTO/uTouהָיָהha/YAwasהֲדַדְעָזֶרHa/dad/A/zerHadadezerוְכֹלve/KHOLand allכְּלֵיke/LEvessels ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldוָכֶסֶףva/KHE/sefand silverוּנְחֹשֶׁת׃u/ne/CHO/shetand of bronze

    He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

    גַּם־אֹתָםgam-o/TAMthem alsoהִקְדִּישׁhik/DISHdedicatedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDעִם־הַכֶּסֶףim-hak/KE/sefwith the silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָשָׂאna/SAhe carried awayמִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםmik/KOL-hag/go/YIMfrom all the nationsמֵאֱדוֹםme/E/DOMfrom Edomוּמִמּוֹאָבu/Mim/mo/AVand from Moabוּמִבְּנֵיu/mib/be/NEand from the children ofעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוּמִפְּלִשְׁתִּיםu/Mip/pe/lish/TIMand from the Philistinesוּמֵעֲמָלֵק׃u/Me/a/ma/LEKand from Amalek

    Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

    וְאַבְשַׁיve/Av/SHAYand Abishaiבֶּן־צְרוּיָהben-Tse/ru/YAthe son of Zeruiahהִכָּהhik/KAstruckאֶת־אֱדוֹםet-E/DOMEdomבְּגֵיאbe/GEin the valley ofהַמֶּלַחHam/ME/lachSaltשְׁמוֹנָה־עָשָׂרshe/mo/NA-a/SAReighteenאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.

    וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand he setבֶּאֱדוֹםBe/e/DOMin Edomנְצִיבִיםne/tsi/VIMgarrisonsוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand becameכׇל־אֱדוֹםkhol-E/DOMall Edomעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDto Davidוַיּוֹשַׁעvay/YO/shaand savedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־דָּוִידet-Da/VIDDavidבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלָךְ׃ha/LAKHhe went

    And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

14. 14

    וַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELover all Israelוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoingמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentוּצְדָקָהu/tse/da/KAand righteousnessלְכׇל־עַמּוֹ׃le/KHOL-am/MOfor all his people

    So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

15. 15

    וְיוֹאָבve/Yo/AVand Joabבֶּן־צְרוּיָהben-Tse/ru/YAthe son of Zeruiahעַל־הַצָּבָאal-hats/tsa/VAwas over the armyוִיהוֹשָׁפָטVi/ho/sha/FATand Jehoshaphatבֶּן־אֲחִילוּדben-A/chi/LUDthe son of Ahiludמַזְכִּיר׃maz/KIRwas recorder

    And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.

16. 16

    וְצָדוֹקve/Tsa/DOKand Zadokבֶּן־אֲחִיטוּבben-A/chi/TUVthe son of Ahitubוַאֲבִימֶלֶךְva/A/vi/ME/lekhand Abimelechבֶּן־אֶבְיָתָרben-Ev/ya/TARthe son of Abiatharכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMwere priestsוְשַׁוְשָׁאve/Shav/SHAand Shavshaסוֹפֵר׃so/FERwas scribe

    And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

17. 17

    וּבְנָיָהוּu/ve/Na/YA/huand Benaiahבֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָעben-Ye/ho/ya/DAthe son of Jehoiadaעַל־הַכְּרֵתִיal-Hak/ke/re/TIwas over the Cherethitesוְהַפְּלֵתִיve/hap/Pe/le/TIand the Pelethitesוּבְנֵי־דָוִידu/ve/NE-da/VIDand the sons of Davidהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMwere the firstלְיַדle/YADat the hand ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
