   Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidנָתָןNa/TANNathanאֶל־דָּוִידel-Da/VIDto Davidכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבִּלְבָבְךָbil/va/ve/KHAin your heartעֲשֵׂהa/SEdoכִּיkiforהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

   Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיְהִיvay/HIthat cameדְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםde/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godאֶל־נָתָןel-Na/TANto Nathanלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

   לֵךְlekhgoוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֶל־דָּוִידel-Da/VIDto Davidעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֹאlonotאַתָּהat/TAyouתִּבְנֶה־לִּיtiv/NE-lishall build Meהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseלָשָׁבֶת׃la/SHA/vetto dwell in

   Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

   כִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָשַׁבְתִּיya/SHAV/tihave I dweltבְּבַיִתbe/VA/yitin a houseמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֶעֱלֵיתִיhe/e/LE/tiI brought upאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelעַדaduntilהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוָאֶהְיֶהva/eh/YEand I have beenמֵאֹהֶלme/O/helfrom tentאֶל־אֹהֶלel-O/helto tentוּמִמִּשְׁכָּן׃u/mim/mish/KANand from tabernacle

   For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

   בְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁר־הִתְהַלַּכְתִּיa/SHER-hit/hal/LAKH/tiwhere I have walkedבְּכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/KHOL-yis/ra/ELin all Israelהֲדָבָרha/da/VARdid a wordדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI speakאֶת־אַחַדet-a/CHADwith one ofשֹׁפְטֵיSHOF/tethe judges ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI commandedלִרְעוֹתlir/OTto shepherdאֶת־עַמִּיet-am/MIMy peopleלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹא־בְנִיתֶםlo-ve/ni/TEMhave you not builtלִיlifor Meבֵּיתbeta house ofאֲרָזִים׃a/ra/ZIMcedars

   Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכֹּה־תֹאמַרko-to/MARso shall you sayלְעַבְדִּיle/av/DIto My servantלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDto Davidכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֲנִיa/NIIלְקַחְתִּיךָle/kach/TI/khaI took youמִן־הַנָּוֶהmin-han/na/VEfrom the pastureמִן־אַחֲרֵיmin-a/cha/REfrom followingהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beנָגִידna/GIDprinceעַלaloverעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

8. 8

   וָאֶהְיֶהva/eh/YEand I have beenעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלַכְתָּha/LAKH/tayou have goneוָאַכְרִיתva/akh/RITand I have cut offאֶת־כׇּל־אוֹיְבֶיךָet-kol-oy/VE/khaall your enemiesמִפָּנֶיךָmip/pa/NE/khafrom before youוְעָשִׂיתִיve/a/SI/tiand I will makeלְךָle/KHAfor youשֵׁםshema nameכְּשֵׁםke/SHEMlike the name ofהַגְּדוֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMthe great menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the earth

   And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

   וְשַׂמְתִּיve/sam/TIand I will appointמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלְעַמִּיle/am/MIfor My peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּנְטַעְתִּיהוּu/ne/ta/TI/huand I will plant itוְשָׁכַןve/sha/KHANand they shall dwellתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin its placeוְלֹאve/LOand notיִרְגַּזyir/GAZbe disturbedעוֹדodany moreוְלֹא־יוֹסִיפוּve/LO-yo/SI/funor shall againבְנֵי־עַוְלָהve/NE-av/LAthe sons of wickednessלְבַלֹּתוֹle/val/lo/TOto wear them downכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה׃ba/ri/sho/NAat the first

   Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

10. 10

    וּלְמִיָּמִיםu/le/miy/ya/MIMand from the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI commandedשֹׁפְטִיםshof/TIMjudgesעַל־עַמִּיal-am/MIover My peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְהִכְנַעְתִּיve/hikh/NA/tiand I will subdueאֶת־כׇּל־אוֹיְבֶיךָet-kol-oy/VE/khaall your enemiesוָאַגִּדva/ag/GIDand I tellלָךְlakhto youוּבַיִתu/VA/yitand a houseיִבְנֶה־לְּךָyiv/NE-le/KHAwill build for youיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.

11. 11

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכִּי־מָלְאוּki-ma/le/Uwhen are fulfilledיָמֶיךָya/ME/khayour daysלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goעִם־אֲבֹתֶיךָim-a/vo/TE/khawith your fathersוַהֲקִימוֹתִיva/ha/ki/mo/TIand I will raise upאֶת־זַרְעֲךָet-zar/a/KHAyour seedאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beמִבָּנֶיךָmib/ba/NE/khaof your sonsוַהֲכִינוֹתִיva/ha/khi/no/TIand I will establishאֶת־מַלְכוּתוֹ׃et-mal/khu/TOhis kingdom

    And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

12. 12

    הוּאhuheיִבְנֶה־לִּיyiv/NE-lishall build for MeבָּיִתBA/yita houseוְכֹנַנְתִּיve/kho/nan/TIand I will establishאֶת־כִּסְאוֹet-kis/Ohis throneעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.

13. 13

    אֲנִיa/NIIאֶהְיֶה־לּוֹeh/YE-lowill be to himלְאָבle/AVa fatherוְהוּאve/HUand heיִהְיֶה־לִּיyih/YE-lishall be to Meלְבֵןle/VENa sonוְחַסְדִּיve/chas/DIand My kindnessלֹא־אָסִירlo-a/SIRI will not take awayמֵעִמּוֹme/im/MOfrom himכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהֲסִירוֹתִיha/si/RO/tiI took itמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERfrom him whoהָיָהha/YAwasלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore you

    I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

14. 14

    וְהַעֲמַדְתִּיהוּve/ha/a/mad/TI/huand I will set himבְּבֵיתִיbe/ve/TIin My houseוּבְמַלְכוּתִיu/ve/mal/khu/TIand in My kingdomעַד־הָעוֹלָםad-ha/o/LAMforeverוְכִסְאוֹve/khis/Oand his throneיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beנָכוֹןna/KHONestablishedעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

15. 15

    כְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוּכְכֹלu/khe/KHOLand according to allהֶחָזוֹןhe/cha/ZONthe visionהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכֵּןkensoדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeנָתָןNa/TANNathanאֶל־דָּוִיד׃el-Da/VIDto David

    According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

16. 16

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand went inהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִי־אֲנִיmi-a/NIwho am IיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוּמִיu/MIand what isבֵיתִיve/TImy houseכִּיkithatהֲבִיאֹתַנִיha/vi/o/TA/niYou have brought meעַד־הֲלֹם׃ad-ha/LOMthus far

    And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

17. 17

    וַתִּקְטַןvat/tik/TANand was smallזֹאתzotthisבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain Your eyesאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godוַתְּדַבֵּרvat/te/dab/BERand You have spokenעַל־בֵּית־עַבְדְּךָal-bet-av/de/KHAconcerning the house of Your servantלְמֵרָחוֹקle/me/ra/CHOKfar into the futureוּרְאִיתַנִיu/re/i/TA/niand You have regarded meכְּתוֹרke/TORaccording to the rank ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manהַמַּעֲלָהham/ma/a/LAhigh degreeיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

18. 18

    מַה־יּוֹסִיףma-yo/SIFwhat more canעוֹדodaddדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youלְכָבוֹדle/kha/VODfor the honor ofאֶת־עַבְדֶּךָet-av/DE/khaYour servantוְאַתָּהve/at/TAfor Youאֶת־עַבְדְּךָet-av/de/KHAYour servantיָדָעְתָּ׃ya/DA/taknow

    What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

19. 19

    יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantוּכְלִבְּךָu/khe/lib/be/KHAand according to Your heartעָשִׂיתָa/SI/taYou have doneאֵת־כׇּל־הַגְּדוּלָּהet-kol-hag/ge/dul/LAall the greatnessהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְהֹדִיעַle/ho/DI/ato make knownאֶת־כׇּל־הַגְּדֻלּוֹת׃et-kol-hag/ge/dul/LOTall these great things

    O LORD, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

20. 20

    יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֵיןenthere is noneכָּמוֹךָka/MO/khalike Youוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodזוּלָתֶךָzu/la/TE/khabesides Youבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁר־שָׁמַעְנוּa/SHER-sha/MA/nuthat we have heardבְּאׇזְנֵינוּ׃be/oz/NE/nuwith our ears

    O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

21. 21

    וּמִיu/MIand who isכְּעַמְּךָke/am/me/KHAlike Your peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelגּוֹיgoya nationאֶחָדe/CHADoneבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהָלַךְha/LAKHwentהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלִפְדּוֹתlif/DOTto redeemלוֹlofor Himselfעָםama peopleלָשׂוּםla/SUMto makeלְךָle/KHAfor Youשֵׁםshema nameגְּדֻלּוֹתge/dul/LOTof great thingsוְנֹרָאוֹתve/no/ra/OTand awesome thingsלְגָרֵשׁle/ga/RESHby driving outמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeעַמְּךָam/me/KHAYour peopleאֲשֶׁר־פָּדִיתָa/SHER-pa/DI/tawhom You redeemedמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptגּוֹיִם׃go/YIMnations

    And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

22. 22

    וַתִּתֵּןvat/tit/TENand You madeאֶת־עַמְּךָet-am/me/KHAYour peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְךָle/KHAfor Yourselfלְעָםle/AMa peopleעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDהָיִיתָha/YI/tahave becomeלָהֶםla/HEMto themלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMtheir God

    For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.

23. 23

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/taYou have spokenעַל־עַבְדְּךָal-av/de/KHAconcerning Your servantוְעַל־בֵּיתוֹve/AL-be/TOand concerning his houseיֵאָמֵןye/a/MENlet be confirmedעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverוַעֲשֵׂהva/a/SEand doכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/taYou have said

    Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

24. 24

    וְיֵאָמֵןve/ye/a/MENand let be confirmedוְיִגְדַּלve/yig/DALand let be greatשִׁמְךָshim/KHAYour nameעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELof Israelוּבֵית־דָּוִידu/VET-da/VIDand the house of Davidעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantנָכוֹןna/KHONbe establishedלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore You

    Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

25. 25

    כִּיkiforאַתָּהat/TAYouאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYmy Godגָּלִיתָga/LI/tahave revealedאֶת־אֹזֶןet-O/zento the ear ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantלִבְנוֹתliv/NOTto buildלוֹlofor himבָּיִתBA/yita houseעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeמָצָאma/TSAhas foundעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantלְהִתְפַּלֵּלle/hit/pal/LELto prayלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore You

    For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

26. 26

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאַתָּה־הוּאat/TA-huYou are Heהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַתְּדַבֵּרvat/te/dab/BERand You have spokenעַל־עַבְדְּךָal-av/de/KHAconcerning Your servantהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodnessהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

27. 27

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהוֹאַלְתָּho/AL/taYou have been pleasedלְבָרֵךְle/va/REKHto blessאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthat it may beלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore Youכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDבֵּרַכְתָּbe/RAKH/tahave blessedוּמְבֹרָךְu/me/vo/RAKHand it is blessedלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
