   The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

   And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

   And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

    And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

    וְיֹאשִׁיָּהוּve/Yo/shiy/YA/huand Josiahהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־יְכׇנְיָהוּet-Ye/khon/YA/huJeconiahוְאֶת־אֶחָיוve/ET-e/CHAYVand his brothersלְעֵתle/ETat the time ofגָּלוּתga/LUTthe exile toבָּבֶל׃Ba/VELBabylon

    And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

12. 12

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterגְּלוֹתָםge/lo/TAMtheir exileבָּבֶלָהba/VE/lato Babylonהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatיְכׇנְיָהוּYe/khon/ya/HUJeconiahאֶת־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלet-She/al/ti/ELShealtielוּשְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלu/She/al/ti/ELand Shealtielהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־זְרֻבָּבֶל׃et-Ze/rub/ba/VELZerubbabel

    And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

    And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

    And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

    And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

    וְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jacobהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־יוֹסֵףet-Yo/SEFJosephבַּעַלBA/althe husband ofמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom herנוֹלַדno/LADwas bornיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAwho is calledמָשִׁיחַ׃Ma/SHI/achMessiah

    And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17. 17

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכׇּל־הַדֹּרוֹתkol-had/do/ROTall the generationsמִן־אַבְרָהָםmin-Av/ra/HAMfrom Abrahamעַד־דָּוִדad-Da/VIDto Davidאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרar/ba/A-a/SARfourteenדֹּרוֹתdo/ROTgenerationsוּמִן־דָּוִדu/MIN-da/VIDand from Davidעַד־גָּלוּתad-ga/LUTuntil the exile toבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרar/ba/A-a/SARfourteenדֹּרוֹתdo/ROTgenerationsוּמִגָּלוּתu/mig/ga/LUTand from the exile toבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonעַד־הַמָּשִׁיחַad-Ham/ma/SHI/achto the Messiahאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרar/ba/A-a/SARfourteenדֹּרוֹת׃do/ROTgenerations

    So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

18. 18

    וְהֻלֶּדֶתve/hul/LE/detand the birth ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahכֹּהkothusהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasכִּיkiwhenמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasמְאֹרָשָׂהme/o/ra/SAespousedלְיוֹסֵףle/Yo/SEFto Josephוּבְטֶרֶםu/ve/TE/remand beforeיָבֹאya/VOhe cameאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herנִמְצֵאתnim/TSETshe was foundהָרָהha/RAwith childמֵרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃me/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshof the Holy Spirit

    Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19. 19

    וְיוֹסֵףve/Yo/SEFthen Josephבַּעְלָהּba/LAher husbandאִישׁisha manצַדִּיקtsad/DIKjustוְלֹאve/LOand notאָבָהa/VAwillingלְתִתָּהּle/tit/TAto give herלְחֶרְפָּהle/cher/PAto disgraceוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲשַׁלְּחֶנָּהa/shal/le/chen/NAI will send her awayבַּסָּתֶר׃bas/SA/tersecretly

    Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20. 20

    הוּאhuheחֹשֵׁבcho/SHEVwas thinkingכָּזֹאתka/ZOTon thisוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEbeholdמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּחֲלוֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephבֶּן־דָּוִדben-Da/VIDson of Davidאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearמִקַּחַתmik/KA/chatto takeאֵת־מִרְיָםet-Mir/YAMMaryאִשְׁתֶּךָish/TE/khayour wifeכִּיkiforהַנּוֹצָרhan/no/TSARthat which is formedבְּקִרְבָּהּbe/kir/BAin herמֵרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁme/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshof the Holy Spiritהוּא׃huit is

    But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21. 21

    וְהִיאve/HIand sheיֹלֶדֶתyo/LE/detwill bearבֵּןbena sonוְקָרָאתָve/ka/RA/taand you shall callאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOhis nameיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusכִּיkiforהוּאhuheיוֹשִׁיעַyo/SHI/awill saveאֶת־עַמּוֹet-am/MOhis peopleמֵחַטֹּאתֵיהֶם׃me/chat/to/te/HEMfrom their sins

    And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22. 22

    וְכׇל־זֹאתve/KHOL-zotnow all thisהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasלְמַלֹּאתle/mal/LOTto fulfillאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERwhich He spokeבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23. 23

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָעַלְמָהha/al/MAthe virginהָרָהha/RAis with childוְיֹלֶדֶתve/yo/LE/detand will bearבֵּןbena sonוְקָרְאוּve/ka/re/Uand they shall callשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameעִמָּנוּאֵלIm/ma/nu/ELEmmanuelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichפֵּרוּשׁוֹpe/ru/SHOits interpretation isאֵלelGodעִמָּנוּ׃im/MA/nuwith us

    Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24. 24

    וַיִּיקַץvay/yi/KATSand awokeיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephמִשְּׁנָתוֹmish/she/na/TOfrom his sleepוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהוּtsiv/VA/huhad commanded himמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹ׃et-ish/TOhis wife

    Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25. 25

    וְלֹאve/LOand notיְדָעָהּye/da/Aknew herעַדaduntilכִּי־יָלְדָהki-ya/le/DAshe had borneאֶת־בְּנָהּet-be/NAher sonהַבְּכוֹרhab/be/KHORthe firstbornוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOhis nameיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
