    סֵפֶרThe book ofתּוֹלְדֹתthe generation ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist,בֶּן־דָּוִדthe son of David,בֶּן־אַבְרָהָם׃the son of Abraham.

    The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

    אַבְרָהָםAbrahamהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יִצְחָקIsaac;וְיִצְחָקand Isaacהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יַעֲקֹבJacob;וְיַעֲקֹבand Jacobהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יְהוּדָהJudahוְאֶת־אֶחָיו׃and his brethren;

    Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

    And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

    וְרָםAnd Ramהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־עַמִּינָדָבAmminadab;וְעַמִּינָדָבand Amminadabהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־נַחְשׁוֹןNahshon;וְנַחְשׁוֹןand Nahshonהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־שַׂלְמוֹן׃Salmon;

    And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

    וְשַׂלְמוֹןAnd Salmonהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־בֹּעַזBoazמֵרָחָבof Rahab;וְבֹעַזand Boazהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־עוֹבֵדObedמֵרוּתof Ruth;וְעוֹבֵדand Obedהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יִשָׁי׃Jesse;

    And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

    וְיִשַׁיAnd Jesseהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־דָּוִדDavidהַמֶּלֶךְthe king;וְדָוִדand Davidהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־שְׁלֹמֹהSolomonמֵאֵשֶׁתof her that had been the wife ofאוּרִיָּה׃Uriah;

    And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

    וּשְׁלֹמֹהAnd Solomonהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־רְחַבְעָםRehoboam;וּרְחַבְעָםand Rehoboamהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אֲבִיָּהAbijah;וַאֲבִיָּהand Abijahהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אָסָא׃Asa;

    And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

    וְאָסָאAnd Asaהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יְהוֹשָׁפָטJehoshaphat;וִיהוֹשָׁפָטand Jehoshaphatהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יוֹרָםJoram;וְיוֹרָםand Joramהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־עֻזִּיָּהוּ׃Uzziah;

    And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;

    וְעֻזִּיָּהוּAnd Uzziahהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יוֹתָםJotham;וְיוֹתָםand Jothamהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אָחָזAhaz;וְאָחָזand Ahazהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יְחִזְקִיָּהוּ׃Hezekiah;

    And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

    וִיחִזְקִיָּהוּAnd Hezekiahהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־מְנַשֶׁהManasseh;וּמְנַשֶׁהand Manassehהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אָמוֹןAmon;וְאָמוֹןand Amonהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ׃Josiah;

    And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

  11. 11

    וְיֹאשִׁיָּהוּAnd Josiahהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יְכׇנְיָהוּJeconiahוְאֶת־אֶחָיוand his brethren,לְעֵתabout the time ofגָּלוּתthe carrying away toבָּבֶל׃Babylon.

    And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

    וְאַחֲרֵיAnd afterגְּלוֹתָםthey were broughtבָּבֶלָהto Babylon,הוֹלִידbegatיְכָנְיָהוּJeconiahאֶת־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלShealtiel;וּשְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלand Shealtielהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־זְרֻבָּבֶל׃Zerubbabel;

    And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

  13. 13

    וּזְרֻבָּבֶלAnd Zerubbabelהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אֲבִיהוּדAbihud;וַאֲבִיהוּדand Abihudהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אֶלְיָקִיםEliakim;וְאֶלְיָקִיםand Eliakimהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־עַזּוּר׃Azor;

    And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

  14. 14

    וְעַזּוּרAnd Azorהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־צָדוֹקZadok;וְצָדוֹקand Zadokהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יָכִיןAchim;וְיָכִיןand Achimהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אֱלִיהוּד׃Eliud;

    And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

  15. 15

    וֶאֱלִיהוּדAnd Eliudהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־אֶלְעָזָרEleazar;וְאֶלְעָזָרand Eleazarהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־מַתָּןMatthan;וּמַתָּןand Matthanהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יַעֲקֹב׃Jacob;

    And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

  16. 16

    וְיַעֲקֹבAnd Jacobהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יוֹסֵףJosephבַּעַלthe husband ofמִרְיָםMary,אֲשֶׁרof whomמִמֶּנָּהfrom herנוֹלַדwas bornיֵשׁוּעַJesus,הַנִּקְרָאwho is calledמָשִׁיחַ׃Christ.

    And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

  17. 17

    וְהִנֵּהSoכׇּל־הַדֹּרוֹתall the generationsמִן־אַבְרָהָםfrom Abrahamעַד־דָּוִדto Davidאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרare fourteenדֹּרוֹתgenerations;וּמִן־דָּוִדand from Davidעַד־גָּלוּתuntil the carrying away intoבָּבֶלBabylonאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרare fourteenדֹּרוֹתgenerations;וּמִגָּלוּתand from the carrying away intoבָּבֶלBabylonעַד־הַמָּשִׁיחַunto Christאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרare fourteenדֹּרוֹת׃generations.

    So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

  18. 18

    וְהֻלֶּדֶתNow the birth ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristכֹּהon this wiseהָיְתָהwas:כִּיWhen asמִרְיָםMaryאִמּוֹhis motherהָיְתָהwasמְאֹרָשָׂהespousedלְיוֹסֵףto Joseph,וּבְטֶרֶםbeforeיָבֹאhe cameאֵלֶיהָunto her,נִמְצֵאתshe was foundהָרָהwith childמֵרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃of the Holy Ghost.

    Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

  19. 19

    וְיוֹסֵףThen Josephבַּעְלָהּher husband,אִישׁa manצַדִּיקjust,וְלֹאand notאָבָהwillingלְתִתָּהּto make herלְחֶרְפָּהa publick example,וַיֹּאמֶרwas mindedאֲשַׁלְּחֶנָּהto put her awayבַּסָּתֶר׃privily.

    Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

  20. 20

    הוּאBut while heחָשֵׁבthoughtכָּזֹאתon these things,וְהִנֵּהbehold,מַלְאַךְthe angel ofיְהוָֹהthe Lordנִרְאָהappearedאֵלָיוunto himבַּחֲלוֹםin a dream,וַיֹּאמַרsaying,יוֹסֵףJoseph,בֶּן־דָּוִדyou son of David,אַל־תִּירָאfear notמִקַּחַתto take unto youאֵת־מִרְיָםMaryאִשְׁתֶּךָyour wife:כִּיforהַנּוֹצָרthat which is conceivedבְּקִרְבָּהin herמֵרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁof the Holy Ghostהוּא׃he is.

    But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

  21. 21

    וְהִיאAnd sheיֹלֶדֶתshall bring forthבֵּןa son,וְקָרָאתָand you shall callאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameיֵשׁוּעַJESUS:כִּיforהוּאheיוֹשִׁיעַshall saveאֶת־עַמּוֹhis peopleמֵחַטֹּאתֵיהֶם׃from their sins.

    And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

  22. 22

    וְכׇל־זֹאתNow all thisהָיְתָהwas done,לְמַלֹּאתthat it might be fulfilledאֶת־דְּבַרthe word ofיְהוָֹהthe Lord,אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרwhich was spokenבְּיַדbyהַנָּבִיאthe prophet,לֵאמֹר׃saying,

    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

  23. 23

    הִנֵּהBehold,הָעַלְמָהa virginהָרָהshall be with child,וְיֹלֶדֶתand shall bring forthבֵּןa son,וְקָרְאוּand they shall callשְׁמוֹhis nameעִמָּנוּאֵלEmmanuel,אֲשֶׁרwhichפֵּרוּשׁוֹbeing interpreted is,אֵלGodעִמָּנוּ׃with us.

    Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

  24. 24

    וַיִּיקַץThen aroseיוֹסֵףJosephמִשְׁנָתוֹfrom sleepוַיַּעַשׂand didכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוָּהוּhad bidden himמַלְאַךְthe angel ofיְהוָֹהthe Lord,וַיֶּאֱסֹףand tookאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹhis wifeאֶל־בֵּיתוֹ׃into his house:

    Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

  25. 25

    וְלֹאAndיְדָעָהּknew her notעַדtillכִּי־יָלְדָהshe had brought forthבֵּןa son,אֶת־בְּכוֹרָהּher firstborn:וַיִּקְרָאand he calledאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameיֵשׁוּעַ׃JESUS.

    And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
