   כִּיforבְּעֵתwhenהֱיוֹתֵנוּwe-wereבַבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshתְּשׁוּקוֹתthe-motions-ofהַחֵטְאsinאֲשֶׁרwhich-wereלֹאnotכַתּוֹרָהaccording-to-the-lawהָיוּdidפֹעֲלוֹתworkבִּיצֻרֵינוּin-our-membersלַעֲשׂוֹתto-bring-forthפְּרִיfruitלַמָּוֶת׃unto-death

   For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sin, which were not according to the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

   אַךְbutעַתָּהnowפְּטוּרִיםdeliveredאֲנַחְנוּwe-areמִן־הַתּוֹרָהfrom-the-lawאֲשֶׁרwhereinהָיִינוּwe-wereאֲסוּרִיםheldבָּהּin-itבִּהְיוֹתֵנוּbeingמֵתִיםdeadלַתּוֹרָהto-the-lawלְמַעַןthatנַעֲבֹדwe-should-serveבְּרוּחַin-spiritחֲדָשָׁהof-newnessוְלֹאand-notבָּאוֹתin-the-letterהַיָּשָׁן׃of-oldness

   But now we are delivered from the law wherein we were held, being dead to the law, that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

   מָהwhatנֹאמַרshall-we-sayאֵפוֹאthenהֲהַתּוֹרָהis-the-lawחֵטְאsinחָלִילָהGod-forbidלֹאnayיָדַעְתִּיI-had-not-knownחֵטְאsinכִּי־אִםbutעַל־יְדֵיbyהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawכִּיforלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI-had-knownתַּאֲוָהlustלוּלֵאexceptהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawאָמְרָהhad-saidלֹאnotתַחְמֹד׃you-shall-covet

   What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law; for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

   כִּיforפַּעַםonceהָיִיתִיI-wasחַיaliveבְּלִיwithoutפֶּשַׁעtransgressionבַּתּוֹרָהof-the-lawאַךְbutכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenבָּאָהcameמִצְוַתthe-commandment-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַChristחָיָהrevivedהַחֵטְאsinוָאָמוּת׃and-I-died

   For once I was alive without transgression of the law, but when the commandment of Christ came, sin revived, and I died.

   וְאִםand-ifלֹאnotאַכְנִיעַI-subdueאֶת־הַחֵטְאthe-sinאֲשֶׁרwhichבִּיis-in-meכִּי־אִםbutבַּבָּשָׂרwith-the-fleshאֶעֱבֹדI-serveאֶת־תּוֹרַתthe-law-ofהַחֵטְאsinאוֹיOלִיthat-I-amאִישׁmanאֻמְלָלwretchedמִיwhoיַצִּילֵנִיshall-deliver-meמִגּוּףfrom-the-body-ofהַמָּוֶתdeathהַזֶּה׃this

   And if I subdue not the sin which is in me, but with the flesh serve the law of sin; O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

   אוֹדֶהI-thankלֵאלֹהִיםGodבְּיֵשׁוּעַthrough-JesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordאֵפוֹאthenכִּיthatכֵןsoבְּשִׂכְלִיwith-the-mindעֹבֵדserveאֲנִיI-myselfאֶת־תּוֹרַתthe-law-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God

   I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord, then, that so with the mind I myself serve the law of God.
