1. 1

   וַיִּהְיוּAnd wereכׇּל־יְמֵיall the days ofחֲנוֹךְEnochאַרְבַּעfourמֵאוֹתhundredוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםand thirtyשָׁנָה׃years.

   And all the days of Enoch were four hundred and thirty years.

2. 2

   וַיְהִיAnd it happenedכִּיthatמְתוּשֶׁלַחMethuselah,בֶּן־חֲנוֹךְthe son of Enoch,לֹאnotנִלְקַחwas taken,לְמַעַןthatיִמָּלְאוּmight be fulfilledבְּרִיתוֹתthe covenants ofיְהוָהthe Lord,אֲשֶׁרwhichכָּרַתhe madeעִם־חֲנוֹךְunto Enoch;כִּיforבֶאֱמֶתtrulyכָּרַתhe madeבְּרִיתa covenantעִם־חֲנוֹךְwith EnochכִּיthatנֹחַNoahיִהְיֶהshould beמִפְּרִיof the fruit ofחֲלָצָיו׃his loins.

   And it came to pass that Methuselah, the son of Enoch, was not taken, that the covenants of the Lord might be fulfilled, which he made to Enoch; for he truly covenanted with Enoch that Noah should be of the fruit of his loins.

   וַיִּתְנַבֵּאAnd prophesiedמְתוּשֶׁלַחMethuselahכִּיthatמֵחֲלָצָיוfrom his loinsיֵצְאוּshould springכׇּל־מַמְלְכוֹתall the kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץthe earthבְּיַדthroughנֹחַNoah,וַיִּקַּחand he tookכָּבוֹדgloryלְעַצְמוֹ׃unto himself.

   And it came to pass that Methuselah prophesied that from his loins should spring all the kingdoms of the earth (through Noah), and he took glory unto himself.

   וַיָּבֹאAnd there cameרָעָבa famineגָּדוֹלgreatבָּאָרֶץin the land,וַיְקַלֵּלand cursedיְהוָהthe Lordאֶת־הָאָרֶץthe earthקְלָלָהwith a curseקָשָׁהsore,וַיָּמוּתוּand diedרַבִּיםmanyמִיּוֹשְׁבֶיהָ׃of the inhabitants thereof.

   And there came forth a great famine into the land, and the Lord cursed the earth with a sore curse, and many of the inhabitants thereof died.

   וַיְחִיAnd livedמְתוּשֶׁלַחMethuselahמֵאָהan hundredוּשְׁמֹנִיםand eightyוְשֶׁבַעand sevenשָׁנִיםyears,וַיּוֹלֶדand begatאֶת־לָמֶךְ׃Lamech;

   And it came to pass that Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begat Lamech;

   וַיְחִיAnd livedמְתוּשֶׁלַחMethuselahאַחֲרֵיafterהוֹלִידוֹhe begatאֶת־לָמֶךְLamechשְׁבַעsevenמֵאוֹתhundredוּשְׁמֹנִיםand eightyוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנָהyears,וַיּוֹלֶדand begatבָּנִיםsonsוּבָנוֹת׃and daughters;

   And Methuselah lived, after he begat Lamech, seven hundred and eighty-two years, and begat sons and daughters;

   וַיִּהְיוּAnd wereכׇּל־יְמֵיall the days ofמְתוּשֶׁלַחMethuselahתְּשַׁעnineמֵאוֹתhundredוְשִׁשִּׁיםand sixtyוָתֵשַׁעand nineשָׁנִיםyears,וַיָּמֹת׃and he died.

   And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

   And Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and begat a son,

   וַיִּקְרָאAnd he calledאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameנֹחַNoah,לֵאמֹרsaying:הַבֵּןsonהַזֶּהThisיְנַחֲמֵנוּshall comfort usמִמַּעֲשֵׂנוּconcerning our workוּמֵעִצְּבוֹןand toil ofיָדֵינוּour hands,מִן־הָאֲדָמָהbecause of the groundאֲשֶׁרwhichאֵרְרָהּhath cursedיְהוָה׃the Lord.

   And he called his name Noah, saying: This son shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.

10. 10

    וַיְחִיAnd livedלֶמֶךְLamechאַחֲרֵיafterהוֹלִידוֹhe begatאֶת־נֹחַNoah,חֲמֵשׁfiveמֵאוֹתhundredוְתִשְׁעִיםand ninetyוְחָמֵשׁand fiveשָׁנָהyears,וַיּוֹלֶדand begatבָּנִיםsonsוּבָנוֹת׃and daughters;

    And Lamech lived, after he begat Noah, five hundred and ninety-five years, and begat sons and daughters;

    וַיִּהְיוּAnd wereכׇּל־יְמֵיall the days ofלֶמֶךְLamechשְׁבַעsevenמֵאוֹתhundredוְשִׁבְעִיםand seventyוָשֶׁבַעand sevenשָׁנִיםyears,וַיָּמֹת׃and he died.

    And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.

    וַיְהִיAnd wasנֹחַNoahבֶּן־אַרְבַּעfourמֵאוֹתhundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםand fiftyשָׁנָהyears old,וַיּוֹלֶדand begatאֶת־יֶפֶתJapheth;וְאַחֲרֵיand afterwardאַרְבָּעִיםfortyוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoשָׁנָהyearsהוֹלִידhe begatאֶת־שֵׁםShemמֵאֵםof her who was the mother ofיֶפֶתJapheth,וּבִהְיוֹתוֹand when he wasבֶּן־חֲמֵשׁof fiveמֵאוֹתhundredשָׁנָהyears oldהוֹלִידhe begatאֶת־חָם׃Ham.

    And Noah was four hundred and fifty years old, and begat Japheth; and forty-two years afterward he begat Shem of her who was the mother of Japheth, and when he was five hundred years old he begat Ham.

13. 13

    וַיִּשְׁמַעAnd hearkenedנֹחַNoah,וּבָנָיוand his sons,בְּקוֹלunto the voice ofיְהוָהthe Lord,וַיַּקְשִׁיבוּand gave heed,וַיִּקָּרְאוּand they were calledבְנֵיthe sons ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And Noah and his sons hearkened unto the Lord, and gave heed, and they were called the sons of God.

14. 14

    וַיְהִיAnd it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenהֵחֵלּוּbeganהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menהָאֵלֶּהtheseלִרְבּוֹתto multiplyעַל־פְּנֵיon the face ofהָאָרֶץthe earth,וּבָנוֹתthat daughtersיֻלְּדוּwere bornלָהֶםunto them,וַיִּרְאוּand sawבְנֵיthe sons ofהָאָדָםmenאֶת־הַבָּנוֹתthose daughtersכִּיthatטֹבֹתfairהֵנָּהthey were,וַיִּקְחוּand they tookלָהֶםthemselvesנָשִׁיםwives,מִכֹּלeven asאֲשֶׁרwhomsoeverבָּחָרוּ׃they chose.

    And when these men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, the sons of men saw that those daughters were fair, and they took them wives, even as they chose.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיְהוָהthe Lordאֶל־נֹחַunto Noah:בְּנוֹתThe daughters ofבָּנֶיךָyour sonsהִתְמַכְּרוּhave sold themselves;כִּיforהִנֵּהbeholdחָרָהis kindledאַפִּיmine angerבִּבְנֵיagainst the sons ofהָאָדָםmen,כִּיforלֹאnotיִשְׁמְעוּthey will hearkenבְקוֹלִי׃to my voice.

    And the Lord said unto Noah: The daughters of thy sons have sold themselves; for behold mine anger is kindled against the sons of men, for they will not hearken to my voice.

16. 16

    וַיִּתְנַבֵּאAnd prophesiedנֹחַNoah,וַיְלַמֵּדand taughtאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe things ofאֱלֹהִיםGod,כַּאֲשֶׁרeven asהָיָהit wasבָּרֵאשִׁית׃in the beginning.

    And it came to pass that Noah prophesied, and taught the things of God, even as it was in the beginning.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיְהוָהthe Lordאֶל־נֹחַunto Noah:לֹא־יָדוֹןNot shall striveרוּחִיMy Spiritבָאָדָםwith manלְעֹלָםalways,כִּיforיֵדַעhe shall knowכִּיthatכׇל־בָּשָׂרall fleshיָמוּתshall die;אַךְyetיָמָיוhis daysיִהְיוּshall beמֵאָהan hundredוְעֶשְׂרִיםand twentyשָׁנָהyears;וְאִם־לֹאand if notיָשׁוּבוּshall repentאֲנָשִׁיםmen,אֲשַׁלַּחI will sendאֶת־הַמַּבּוּלthe floodsעֲלֵיהֶם׃upon them.

    And the Lord said unto Noah: My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for he shall know that all flesh shall die; yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years; and if men do not repent, I will send in the floods upon them.

18. 18

    וּבַיָּמִיםAnd in the daysהָהֵםthoseהָיוּthere wereנְפִילִיםgiantsבָּאָרֶץon the earth,וַיְבַקְּשׁוּand they soughtאֶת־נֶפֶשׁthe life ofנֹחַNoah;אַךְbutיְהוָהthe Lordהָיָהwasעִם־נֹחַwith Noah,וּגְבוּרַתand the power ofיְהוָהthe Lordהָיְתָהwasעָלָיו׃upon him.

    And in those days there were giants on the earth, and they sought Noah to take away his life; but the Lord was with Noah, and the power of the Lord was upon him.

19. 19

    וַיִּסְמֹךְAnd ordainedיְהוָהthe Lordאֶת־נֹחַNoahעַל־פִּיafterסִדְרוֹhis own order,וַיְצַוand commandedאֹתוֹhimלָצֵאתthat he should go forthוְלִקְרֹאand declareאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרָתוֹhis Gospelלִבְנֵיunto the children ofהָאָדָםmen,כַּאֲשֶׁרeven asנִתְּנָהit was givenלַחֲנוֹךְ׃unto Enoch.

    And the Lord ordained Noah after his own order, and commanded him that he should go forth and declare his Gospel unto the children of men, even as it was given unto Enoch.

20. 20

    וַיִּקְרָאAnd calledנֹחַNoahאֶל־בְּנֵיupon the children ofהָאָדָםmen,לָשׁוּבthat they should repent;וְלֹאbut notשָׁמְעוּthey hearkenedלִדְבָרָיו׃unto his words;

    And it came to pass that Noah called upon the children of men that they should repent; but they hearkened not unto his words;

21. 21

    וְגַםAnd also,אַחֲרֵיafter thatשָׁמְעָםthey had heardאֹתוֹhim,בָּאוּthey came upלְפָנָיוbefore him,לֵאמֹרsaying:הִנֵּהBehold,אֲנַחְנוּwe areבְנֵיthe sons ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod;הֲלֹאhave we notלָקַחְנוּtakenלָנוּunto ourselvesאֶת־בְּנוֹתthe daughters ofהָאָדָםmen?וַהֲלֹאAnd are notאֲנַחְנוּweאֹכְלִיםeatingוְשֹׁתִיםand drinking,וְנֹשְׂאִיםand marryingוְנֹתְנִיםand giving in marriage?וּנְשׁוֹתֵינוּand our wivesיֹלְדוֹתbearלָנוּunto usבָּנִיםchildren,וְהֵםand the same areגִּבֹּרִיםmighty men,כְּאַנְשֵׁיwhich are like unto men ofקֶדֶםold,אַנְשֵׁיmen ofהַשֵּׁםrenown?וְלֹאAnd notשָׁמְעוּthey hearkenedלְדִבְרֵיunto the words ofנֹחַ׃Noah.

    And also, after that they had heard him, they came up before him, saying: Behold, we are the sons of God; have we not taken unto ourselves the daughters of men? And are we not eating and drinking, and marrying and giving in marriage? And our wives bear unto us children, and the same are mighty men, which are like unto men of old, men of great renown. And they hearkened not unto the words of Noah.

22. 22

    וַיַּרְאAnd sawאֱלֹהִיםGodכִּיthatרַבָּהgreat wasרָעַתthe wickedness ofהָאָדָםmenבָּאָרֶץon the earth;וְכׇל־אִישׁand every manנִשָּׂאwas lifted upבְּיֵצֶרin the imagination ofמַחְשְׁבֹתthe thoughts ofלִבּוֹhis heart,רַקbeing onlyרַעevilכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃continually.

    And God saw that the wickedness of men had become great in the earth; and every man was lifted up in the imagination of the thoughts of his heart, being only evil continually.

23. 23

    וַיּוֹסֶףAnd continuedנֹחַNoahלְהַטִּיףhis preachingאֶל־הָעָםunto the people,לֵאמֹרsaying:שִׁמְעוּHearken,וְהַקְשִׁיבוּand give heedלִדְבָרָי׃unto my words;

    And it came to pass that Noah continued his preaching unto the people, saying: Hearken, and give heed unto my words;

24. 24

    הַאֲמִינוּBelieveוְשׁוּבוּand repentמֵחַטֹּאתֵיכֶםof your sins,וְהִטָּבְלוּand be baptizedבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist,בֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםthe Son of God,כַּאֲבוֹתֵינוּeven as our fathers,וּתְקַבְּלוּand you shall receiveאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe Holy Ghost,לְמַעַןthatיִגָּלֶהmay be manifestלָכֶםunto youכֹּלall things;וְאִם־לֹאand if notתַעֲשׂוּyou doכֵןthis,יָבֹאshall comeהַמַּבּוּלthe floodsעֲלֵיכֶםupon you;וְלֹאand notשָׁמְעוּ׃they hearkened.

    Believe and repent of your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even as our fathers, and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost, that ye may have all things made manifest; and if ye do not this, the floods will come in upon you; nevertheless they hearkened not.

25. 25

    וַיִּנָּחֶםAnd it repentedנֹחַNoah,וַיִּכְאַבand was painedלִבּוֹhis heart,כִּיthatעָשָׂהhad madeיְהוָהthe Lordאֶת־הָאָדָםmanבָּאָרֶץon the earth,וַיִּתְעַצֵּבand it grieved himאֶל־לִבּוֹ׃at his heart.

    And it repented Noah, and his heart was pained that the Lord had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at the heart.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיְהוָהthe Lord:אֶמְחֶהI will destroyאֶת־הָאָדָםmanאֲשֶׁר־בָּרָאתִיwhom I have created,מֵעַלfromפְּנֵיthe face ofהָאֲדָמָהthe earth;מֵאָדָםboth man,עַד־בְּהֵמָהand beast,עַד־רֶמֶשׂand the creeping things,וְעַד־עוֹףand the fowls ofהַשָּׁמָיִםthe air;כִּיforנִחַםit repentethנֹחַNoah,כִּיthatבְרָאתִיםI have created them,וְכִיand thatעֲשִׂיתִיםI have made them;וְהוּאand heקָרָאhath calledאֵלַיunto me;כִּיforבִקְּשׁוּthey have soughtאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ׃his life.

    And the Lord said: I will destroy man whom I have created, from the face of the earth, both man and beast, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Noah that I have created them, and that I have made them; and he hath called upon me; for they have sought his life.

27. 27

    וְכֵןAnd thusנֹחַNoahמָצָאfoundחֵןgraceבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהוָהthe Lord;כִּיforנֹחַNoahאִישׁa manצַדִּיקjustתָּמִיםand perfectהָיָהwasבְּדֹרֹתָיוin his generation,וְאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםand with GodהִתְהַלֶּךְwalkedנֹחַNoah,וְגַםas did alsoשְׁלֹשֶׁתthree ofבָּנָיוhis sons,שֵׁםShem,חָםHam,וָיָפֶת׃and Japheth.

    And thus Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord; for Noah was a just man, and perfect in his generation; and he walked with God, as did also his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

28. 28

    וַתִּשָּׁחֵתAnd was corruptהָאָרֶץthe earthלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַתִּמָּלֵאand was filledהָאָרֶץthe earthחָמָס׃with violence.

    The earth was corrupt before God, and it was filled with violence.

29. 29

    וַיַּרְאAnd lookedאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־הָאָרֶץupon the earth,וְהִנֵּהand behold,נִשְׁחָתָהit was corrupt,כִּי־הִשְׁחִיתfor had corruptedכׇּל־בָּשָׂרall fleshאֶת־דַּרְכּוֹits wayעַל־הָאָרֶץ׃upon the earth.

    And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶל־נֹחַunto Noah:קֵץThe end ofכׇּל־בָּשָׂרall fleshבָּאis comeלְפָנַיbefore me,כִּי־מָלְאָהfor is filledהָאָרֶץthe earthחָמָסwith violence,וְהִנְנִיand behold Iמַשְׁחִיתwill destroyאֶת־כׇּל־בָּשָׂרall fleshמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃from off the earth.

    And God said unto Noah: The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence, and behold I will destroy all flesh from off the earth.
