   And it came to pass that after I, the Lord God, had driven them out, that Adam began to till the earth, and to have dominion over all the beasts of the field, and to eat his bread by the sweat of his brow, as I the Lord had commanded him. And Eve, also, his wife, did labor with him.

   And Adam knew his wife, and she bare unto him sons and daughters, and they began to multiply and to replenish the earth.

   And Adam and Eve, his wife, called upon the name of the Lord, and they heard the voice of the Lord from the way toward the Garden of Eden, speaking unto them, and they saw him not; for they were shut out from his presence.

   And he gave unto them commandments, that they should worship the Lord their God, and should offer the firstlings of their flocks, for an offering unto the Lord. And Adam was obedient unto the commandments of the Lord.

   And after many days an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam, saying: Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord? And Adam said unto him: I know not, save the Lord commanded me.

   וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand then spakeהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisדְּמוּתde/MUTis a similitudeקׇרְבַּןkor/BANof the sacrificeיְחִידYe/CHIDof the Only Begottenהָאָבha/AVof the Fatherהַמָּלֵאham/ma/LEwhich is fullחֶסֶדCHE/sedof graceוֶאֱמֶת׃ve/e/METand truth

   And then the angel spake, saying: This thing is a similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father, which is full of grace and truth.

8. 8

   לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhatsoeverתַּעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEyou doתַּעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEdo itבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the nameהַבֵּןhab/BENof the Sonוְתָשׁוּבve/ta/SHUVand you shall repentוְקָרָאתָve/ka/RA/taand callאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMupon Godבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the nameהַבֵּןhab/BENof the Sonלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

   Wherefore, thou shalt do all that thou doest in the name of the Son, and thou shalt repent and call upon God in the name of the Son forevermore.

   And in that day the Holy Ghost fell upon Adam, which beareth record of the Father and the Son, saying: I am the Only Begotten of the Father from the beginning, henceforth and forever, that as thou hast fallen thou mayest be redeemed, and all mankind, even as many as will.

    And in that day Adam blessed God and was filled, and began to prophesy concerning all the families of the earth, saying: Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God.

    And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.

    וַיְבָרֲכוּvay/va/ra/KHUand blessedאָדָםA/DAMAdamוְחַוָּהve/Chav/VAand Eveאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe nameאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַיּוֹדִיעוּvay/yo/di/Uand they made knownאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall thingsלִבְנֵיהֶםliv/ne/HEMunto their sonsוְלִבְנוֹתֵיהֶם׃ve/liv/no/te/HEMand their daughters

    And Adam and Eve blessed the name of God, and they made all things known unto their sons and their daughters.

13. 13

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanבְּתוֹכָםbe/to/KHAMamong themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲנִיa/NII amגַם־כֵּןgam-kenalsoבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-e/lo/HIMa son of Godוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאַל־תַּאֲמִינוּal-ta/a/MI/nubelieve it notוְלֹאve/LOand notהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nuthey believed itוַיֶּאֶהֲבוּvay/ye/e/ha/VUand they lovedאֶת־הַשָּׂטָןet-Has/sa/TANSatanמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMmore than Godוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganבְנֵי־הָאָדָםve/NE-ha/a/DAMmenמֵאָזme/AZfrom that time forthלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beבָּשָׂרba/SARcarnalוְתַאֲוָנִיִּיםve/ta/a/va/niy/YIMsensualוְשֵׁדִיִּים׃ve/she/diy/YIMand devilish

    And Satan came among them, saying: I am also a son of God; and he commanded them, saying: Believe it not; and they believed it not, and they loved Satan more than God. And men began from that time forth to be carnal, sensual, and devilish.

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־הָאָדָםel-ha/a/DAMupon menבְּכׇל־מָקוֹםbe/KHOL-ma/KOMeverywhereבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁbe/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshby the Holy Ghostוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלָשׁוּב׃la/SHUVthat they should repent

    And the Lord God called upon men by the Holy Ghost everywhere and commanded them that they should repent;

15. 15

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand as many asהַמַּאֲמִינִיםham/ma/a/mi/NIMbelievedבַּבֵּןbab/BENin the Sonוְשָׁבִיםve/sha/VIMand repentedמֵחַטֹּאתָםme/chat/to/TAMof their sinsיִוָּשְׁעוּyiv/va/she/Ushould be savedוְכֹלve/KHOLand as many asאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlonotיַאֲמִינוּya/a/MI/nubelievedוְלֹאve/LOand notיָשׁוּבוּya/SHU/vurepentedיֻרְשָׁעוּyur/sha/Ushould be damnedוְהַדְּבָרִיםve/had/de/va/RIMand the wordsיָצְאוּya/tse/Uwent forthמִפִּיmip/PIout of the mouthאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godלִגְזֵרָהlig/ze/RAin a decreeנֶאֱמָנָהne/e/ma/NAfirmלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיֵעָשׂוּ׃ye/a/SUthey must be fulfilled

    And as many as believed in the Son, and repented of their sins, should be saved; and as many as believed not and repented not, should be damned; and the words went forth out of the mouth of God in a firm decree; wherefore they must be fulfilled.

    And Adam and Eve, his wife, ceased not to call upon God. And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bare Cain, and said: I have gotten a man from the Lord; wherefore he may not reject his words. But behold, Cain hearkened not, saying: Who is the Lord that I should know him?

    וַתַּהַרvat/TA/harand she conceivedעוֹדodagainוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand bareאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherהֶבֶלHE/velAbelוַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand hearkenedהֶבֶלHE/velAbelבְּקוֹלbe/KOLunto the voiceיְהוָהAdonaiof the Lordוְהֶבֶלve/HE/veland Abelהָיָהha/YAwasרֹעֵהro/Ea keeperצֹאןtsonof sheepוְקַיִןve/KA/yinbut Cainהָיָהha/YAwasעֹבֵדo/VEDa tillerאֲדָמָה׃a/da/MAof the ground

    And she again conceived and bare his brother Abel. And Abel hearkened unto the voice of the Lord. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

    וַיֶּאֱהַבvay/ye/e/HAVand lovedקַיִןKA/yinCainאֶת־הַשָּׂטָןet-Has/sa/TANSatanמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMmore than Godוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanאֹתוֹo/TOhimלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָבֵאha/VEmakeקׇרְבָּןkor/BANan offeringלַיהוָה׃la-Adonaiunto the Lord

    And Cain loved Satan more than God. And Satan commanded him, saying: Make an offering unto the Lord.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמִקֵּץmik/KETSin processיָמִיםya/MIMof timeוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEthat broughtקַיִןKA/yinCainמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruitהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAof the groundמִנְחָהmin/CHAan offeringלַיהוָה׃la-Adonaiunto the Lord

    And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

20. 20

    וְהֶבֶלve/HE/veland Abelגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoהֵבִיאhe/VIbroughtמִבְּכֹרוֹתmib/be/kho/ROTof the firstlingsצֹאנוֹtso/NOof his flockוּמֵחֶלְבֵהֶןu/me/chel/ve/HENand of the fat thereofוַיִּשַׁעvay/YI/shaand had respectיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֶל־הֶבֶלel-HE/velunto Abelוְאֶל־מִנְחָתוֹ׃ve/EL-min/cha/TOand to his offering

    And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock, and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel, and to his offering;

21. 21

    וְאֶל־קַיִןve/EL-KA/yinbut unto Cainוְאֶל־מִנְחָתוֹve/EL-min/cha/TOand to his offeringלֹאlonotשָׁעָהsha/Ahe had respectוְהַשָּׂטָןve/has/Sa/TANnow Satanיָדַעya/DAknewזֹאתzotthisוַיִּיטַבvay/yi/TAVand it pleased himבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin his eyesוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand was wrothלְקַיִןLe/KA/yinCainמְאֹדme/ODveryוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand fellפָנָיו׃fa/NAYVhis countenance

    But unto Cain, and to his offering, he had not respect. Now Satan knew this, and it pleased him. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֶל־קָיִןel-KA/yinunto CainלָמָּהLAM/mawhyחָרָהcha/RAare you wrothלָךְlakhunto youוְלָמָּהve/LAM/mawhy isנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfallenפָנֶיךָ׃fa/NE/khayour countenance

    And the Lord said unto Cain: Why art thou wroth? Why is thy countenance fallen?

23. 23

    אִם־תֵּיטִיבim-te/TIVif you do wellתֵּרָצֶהte/ra/TSEyou shall be acceptedוְאִםve/IMand ifלֹאlonotתֵיטִיבte/TIVyou do wellלַפֶּתַחlap/PE/tachat the doorחַטָּאתchat/TATsinרֹבֵץro/VETSliethוְהַשָּׂטָןve/has/Sa/TANand Satanחָפֵץcha/FETSdesirethלְקַחְתְּךָle/kach/te/KHAto have youוְאִםve/IMand ifלֹאlonotתִשְׁמַעtish/MAyou shall hearkenלְמִצְוֹתַיle/mits/vo/TAYunto my commandmentsאֶמְסׇרְךָem/sor/KHAI will deliver you upוִיהִיvi/HIand it shall beלְךָle/KHAunto youכִרְצוֹנוֹkhir/tso/NOaccording to his desireוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youתִּמְשׇׁל־בּוֹ׃tim/SHOL-boshall rule over him

    If thou doest well, thou shalt be accepted. And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door, and Satan desireth to have thee; and except thou shalt hearken unto my commandments, I will deliver thee up, and it shall be unto thee according to his desire. And thou shalt rule over him;

    כִּיkiforמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom this time forthתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou shall beאֲבִיa/VIthe fatherשְׁקָרָיוshe/ka/RAYVof his liesוְיִקָּרֵאve/yik/ka/REand shall be calledלְךָle/KHAunto youאֲבַדּוֹןA/vad/DONPerditionכִּיkiforהָיִיתָha/YI/tayou wereגַּםgamalsoלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMthe world

    For from this time forth thou shalt be the father of his lies; thou shalt be called Perdition; for thou wast also before the world.

    וְיֵאָמֵרve/ye/a/MERand it shall be saidלְעֵתle/ETin timeעָתִידa/TIDto comeכִּיkithatהַתּוֹעֵבוֹתhat/to/e/VOTabominationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהָיוּha/YUwereמִקַּיִןmik/KA/yinfrom Cainכִּיkiforמָאַסma/AShe rejectedאֶת־הָעֵצָהet-ha/e/TSAthe counselהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreaterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְזֹאתve/ZOTand this isקְלָלָהke/la/LAa cursingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָשִׂיםa/SIMI will putעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youאִם־לֹאim-loexceptתָשׁוּב׃ta/SHUVyou repent

    And it shall be said in time to come—That these abominations were had from Cain; for he rejected the greater counsel which was had from God; and this is a cursing which I will put upon thee, except thou repent.

    וַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand was wrothלְקַיִןLe/KA/yinCainוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמַעsha/MAhearkenedעוֹדodany moreלְקוֹלle/KOLunto the voiceיְהוָהAdonaiof the Lordוְלֹאve/LOneitherלְהֶבֶלle/HE/velunto Abelאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָלַךְha/LAKHwalkedבְּקֹדֶשׁbe/KO/deshin holinessלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהוָה׃Adonaithe Lord

    And Cain was wroth, and listened not any more to the voice of the Lord, neither to Abel, his brother, who walked in holiness before the Lord.

27. 27

    וַיִּתְאַבְּלוּvay/yit/ab/be/LUand mournedאָדָםA/DAMAdamוְאִשְׁתּוֹve/ish/TOand his wifeלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordעַל־קַיִןal-KA/yinbecause of Cainוְעַל־אֶחָיו׃ve/AL-e/CHAYVand his brethren

    And Adam and his wife mourned before the Lord, because of Cain and his brethren.

28. 28

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookקַיִןKA/yinCainאַחַתa/CHAToneמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughtersאֶחָיוe/CHAYVof his brothersלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAto wifeוַיֶּאֶהֲבוּvay/ye/e/ha/VUand they lovedאֶת־הַשָּׂטָןet-Has/sa/TANSatanמֵאֱלֹהִים׃me/e/lo/HIMmore than God

    And it came to pass that Cain took one of his brothers' daughters to wife, and they loved Satan more than God.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanאֶל־קַיִןel-KA/yinunto Cainהִשָּׁבַעhish/SHA/vaswearלִיliunto meבִּגְרוֹנְךָbig/ron/KHAby your throatוְאִם־תְּגַלֶּהve/IM-te/gal/LEand if you tell itמוֹתmotsurelyתָּמוּתta/MUTyou shall dieוְהַשְׁבַּעve/hash/BAand swearגַּםgamalsoאֶת־אַחֶיךָet-a/CHE/khayour brethrenבְּרָאשֵׁיהֶםbe/ra/she/HEMby their headsוּבֵאלֹהִיםu/ve/lo/HIMand by Godחַיִּיםchay/YIMthe livingלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notגַלּוֹתgal/LOTthey tellוְאִם־יְגַלּוּve/IM-ye/gal/LUfor if they tellמוֹתmotsurelyיָמוּתוּya/MU/tuthey shall dieלְמַעַןle/MA/anthis thatלֹאlonotיֵדַעye/DAmay knowאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherוְהַיּוֹםve/hay/YOMand this dayאֶמְסֹרem/SORI will deliverאֶת־הֶבֶלet-HE/velAbelאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherבְּיָדֶךָ׃be/ya/DE/khainto your hands

    And Satan said unto Cain: Swear unto me by thy throat, and if thou tell it thou shalt die; and swear thy brethren by their heads, and by the living God, that they tell it not; for if they tell it, they shall surely die; and this that thy father may not know it; and this day I will deliver thy brother Abel into thine hands.

30. 30

    וַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand swareהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanלְקַיִןle/KA/yinunto Cainלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTthat he would doכְּמִצְוֹתָיוke/mits/vo/TAYVaccording to his commandsוְכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםve/KHOL-had/de/va/RIMand all the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUwere doneבַסֵּתֶר׃vas/SE/terin secret

    And Satan sware unto Cain that he would do according to his commands. And all these things were done in secret.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקַיִןKA/yinCainאׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyאֲנִיa/NII amמָהָןMa/HANMahanאֲדוֹןa/DONthe masterהַסּוֹדhas/SODof secretהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatאֶרְצַחer/TSACHI may murderוְאֶבְצָעve/ev/TSAand get gainלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeנִקְרָאnik/RAwas calledקַיִןKA/yinCainאֲדוֹןA/DONMasterמָהָןMa/HANMahanוַיִּתְהַלֵּלvay/yit/hal/LELand he gloriedבְּרִשְׁעָתוֹ׃be/rish/a/TOin his wickedness

    And Cain said: Truly I am Mahan, the master of this great secret, that I may murder and get gain. Wherefore Cain was called Master Mahan, and he gloried in his wickedness.

32. 32

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outקַיִןKA/yinCainהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEinto the fieldוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand talkedקַיִןKA/yinCainאֶל־הֶבֶלel-HE/velwith Abelאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבִּהְיוֹתָםbih/yo/TAMthat while they wereבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komrose upקַיִןKA/yinCainעַל־הֶבֶלal-HE/velagainst Abelאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherוַיַּהַרְגֵהוּ׃vay/ya/har/GE/huand slew him

    And Cain went into the field, and Cain talked with Abel, his brother. And it came to pass that while they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and slew him.

33. 33

    וַיִּתְהַלֵּלvay/yit/hal/LELand gloriedקַיִןKA/yinCainבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERin that whichעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲנִיa/NII amחׇפְשִׁיchof/SHIfreeאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyמִקְנֵהmik/NEthe flocksאָחִיa/CHIof my brotherנָפַלna/FALfallethבְּיָדָי׃be/ya/DAYinto my hands

    And Cain gloried in that which he had done, saying: I am free; surely the flocks of my brother falleth into my hands.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֶל־קַיִןel-KA/yinunto Cainאֵיewhere isהֶבֶלHE/velAbelאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowהֲשֹׁמֵרha/sho/MERthe keeperאָחִיa/CHIof my brotherאָנֹכִי׃a/no/KHIam I

    And the Lord said unto Cain: Where is Abel, thy brother? And he said: I know not. Am I my brother's keeper?

35. 35

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordמֶהmewhatעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tahave you doneקוֹלkolthe voiceדְּמֵיde/MEof the bloodאָחִיךָa/CHI/khaof your brotherצֹעֲקִיםtso/a/KIMcriesאֵלַיe/LAYunto meמִן־הָאֲדָמָה׃min-ha/a/da/MAfrom the ground

    And the Lord said: What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood cries unto me from the ground.

36. 36

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאָרוּרa/RURcursedאָתָּהAT/tayou shall beמִן־הָאֲדָמָהmin-ha/a/da/MAfrom the earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichפָּצְתָהpa/tse/TAopenedאֶת־פִּיהָet-PI/haher mouthלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto receiveאֶת־דְּמֵיet-de/MEthe bloodאָחִיךָa/CHI/khaof your brotherמִיָּדֶךָ׃miy/ya/DE/khafrom your hand

    And now thou shalt be cursed from the earth which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.

37. 37

    כִּיkiwhenתַעֲבֹדta/a/VODyou tillאֶת־הָאֲדָמָהet-ha/a/da/MAthe groundלֹא־תֹסֵףlo-to/SEFit shall not henceforthתֵּת־כֹּחָהּtet-ko/CHAyield her strengthלָךְlakhunto youנָעnaa fugitiveוָנָדva/NADand a vagabondתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall you beבָאָרֶץ׃va/A/retsin the earth

    When thou tillest the ground it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength. A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקַיִןKA/yinCainאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto the LordהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanפִּתָּנִיpit/ta/NItempted meבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofמִקְנֵהmik/NEthe flocksאָחִיa/CHIof my brotherוְגַםve/GAMand alsoחָרָהcha/RAwas wrothלִיliIכִּיkiforקִבַּלְתָּkib/bal/TAyou acceptedאֶת־קׇרְבָּנוֹet-kor/ba/NOhis offeringוְלֹאve/LObut notאֶת־קׇרְבָּנִיet-kor/ba/NImine offeringגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreater isעֲוֹנִיa/vo/NImy punishmentמִנְּשֹׂא׃min/ne/SOthan I can bear

    And Cain said unto the Lord: Satan tempted me because of my brother's flocks. And I was wroth also; for his offering thou didst accept and not mine; my punishment is greater than I can bear.

39. 39

    הֵןhenbeholdגֵּרַשְׁתָּge/RASH/tayou droveאֹתִיo/TIme outהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayמֵעַלme/ALfromפְּנֵיpe/NEthe faceיְהוָהAdonaiof the Lordוּמִפָּנֶיךָu/mip/pa/NE/khaand from your faceאֶסָּתֵרes/sa/TERshall I be hidוְהָיִיתִיve/ha/YI/tiand I shall beנָעnaa fugitiveוָנָדva/NADand a vagabondבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכׇל־מֹצְאִיkhol-mots/Ithat every one that findeth meיַהַרְגֵנִיya/har/GE/nishall slay meבַּעֲוֹנֹתַיba/a/vo/no/TAYbecause of mine iniquitiesכִּיkiforהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלֹאloare notנִסְתָּרִיםnis/ta/RIMhidמֵיְהוָה׃me-Adonaifrom the Lord

    Behold thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the Lord, and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that he that findeth me will slay me, because of mine iniquities, for these things are not hid from the Lord.

40. 40

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand saidאֲנִיa/NIIיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himכׇּל־הֹרֶגְךָkol-ho/reg/KHAwhosoever slayeth youשִׁבְעָתַיִםshiv/a/TA/yimsevenfoldיֻקָּםyuk/KAMvengeance shall be taken on himוָאָשִׂםva/a/SIMand setאֲנִיa/NIIיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאוֹתota markלְקַיִןle/KA/yinupon Cainלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIlestהַכּוֹתhak/KOTshould killאֹתוֹo/TOhimכׇּל־מֹצְאוֹ׃kol-mots/Oany finding him

    And I the Lord said unto him: Whosoever slayeth thee, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And I the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

41. 41

    וַיִּסָּגֵרvay/yis/sa/GERand was shut outקַיִןKA/yinCainמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom the presenceיְהוָהAdonaiof the Lordוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltעִם־אִשְׁתּוֹim-ish/TOwith his wifeוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמֵאֶחָיוme/e/CHAYVof his brethrenבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the landנוֹדNodof Nodקִדְמַת־עֵדֶן׃kid/MAT-E/denon the east of Eden

    And Cain was shut out from the presence of the Lord, and with his wife and many of his brethren dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

42. 42

    וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewקַיִןKA/yinCainאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeוַתַּהַרvat/TA/harand she conceivedוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand bareאֶת־חֲנוֹךְet-Cha/NOKHEnochוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he begatגַּםgamalsoבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand he buildedעִירira cityוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledשֵׁםshemthe nameהָעִירha/IRof the cityכְּשֵׁםke/SHEMafter the nameבְּנוֹbe/NOof his sonחֲנוֹךְ׃Cha/NOKHEnoch

    And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bare Enoch, and he also begat many sons and daughters. And he builded a city, and he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

43. 43

    וַיִּוָּלֵדvay/yiv/va/LEDand was bornלַחֲנוֹךְla/Cha/NOKHunto EnochעִירָדI/RADIradוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand sonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherוְעִירָדve/I/RADand Iradיָלַדya/LADbegatאֶת־מְחוּיָאֵלet-Me/chu/ya/ELMahujaelוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand sonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherוּמְחוּיָאֵלu/Me/chu/ya/ELand Mahujaelיָלַדya/LADbegatאֶת־מְתוּשָׁאֵלet-Me/tu/sha/ELMethusaelוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand sonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherוּמְתוּשָׁאֵלu/Me/tu/sha/ELand Methusaelיָלַדya/LADbegatאֶת־לָמֶךְ׃et-LA/mekhLamech

    And unto Enoch was born Irad, and other sons and daughters. And Irad begat Mahujael, and other sons and daughters. And Mahujael begat Methusael, and other sons and daughters. And Methusael begat Lamech.

44. 44

    וַיִּקַּח־לוֹvay/yik/KACH-loand took unto himלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechשְׁתֵּיshtetwoנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwivesשֵׁםshemthe nameהָאַחַתha/a/CHATof the oneעָדָהA/DAwas Adahוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the nameהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITof the otherצִלָּה׃Tsil/LAwas Zillah

    And Lamech took unto himself two wives; the name of one being Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah.

45. 45

    וַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand bareעָדָהA/DAAdahאֶת־יָבָלet-Ya/VALJabalהוּאhuheהָיָהha/YAwasאֲבִיa/VIthe fatherיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVof such as dwell inאֹהֶלO/heltentsוְרֹעֵיve/ro/Eand keepersמִקְנֶהmik/NEof cattleוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the nameאָחִיוa/CHIVof his brotherיוּבָלYu/VALwas Jubalהוּאhuheהָיָהha/YAwasאֲבִיa/VIthe fatherכׇּל־תֹּפֵשׂkol-to/FESof all such as handleכִּנּוֹרkin/NORthe harpוְעוּגָב׃ve/u/GAVand organ

    And Adah bare Jabal; he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and they were keepers of cattle; and his brother's name was Jubal, who was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

46. 46

    וְצִלָּהve/Tsil/LAand Zillahגַם־הִיאgam-hishe alsoיָלְדָהya/le/DAbareאֶת־תּוּבַלet-TU/valTubalקַיִןKA/yinCainלֹטֵשׁlo/TESHan instructorכׇּל־חֹרֵשׁkol-cho/RESHof every artificer inנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbrassוּבַרְזֶלu/var/ZELand ironוַאֲחוֹתva/a/CHOTand the sisterתּוּבַל־קַיִןtu/VAL-KA/yinof Tubal Cainנַעֲמָה׃Na/a/MAwas Naamah

    And Zillah, she also bare Tubal Cain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron. And the sister of Tubal Cain was called Naamah.

47. 47

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechלְנָשָׁיוle/na/SHAYVunto his wivesעָדָהA/DAAdahוְצִלָּהve/Tsil/LAand Zillahשְׁמַעַןshe/MA/anhearקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceנְשֵׁיne/SHEyou wivesלֶמֶךְLE/mekhof Lamechהַאְזֵנָּהha/ZEN/nahearken untoאִמְרָתִיim/ra/TImy speechכִּיkiforאִישׁisha manהָרַגְתִּיha/RAG/tihave I slainלְפִצְעִיle/fits/Ito my woundingוְיֶלֶדve/YE/ledand a young manלְחַבֻּרָתִי׃le/chab/bu/ra/TIto my hurt

    And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah: Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech; for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

48. 48

    כִּיkiifשִׁבְעָתַיִםshiv/a/TA/yimsevenfoldיֻקַּם־קָיִןyuk/KAM-KA/yinshall Cain be avengedוְלֶמֶךְve/LE/mekhtruly Lamechשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyוְשִׁבְעָה׃ve/shiv/Aand sevenfold

    If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech shall be seventy and seven fold;

49. 49

    כִּיkiforלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechכָּרַתka/RATentered intoבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantעִם־הַשָּׂטָןim-Has/sa/TANwith Satanכְּדֶרֶךְke/DE/rekhafter the mannerקַיִןKA/yinof Cainוַיְהִיvay/HIand he becameאֲדוֹןA/DONMasterמָהָןMa/HANMahanאֲדוֹןa/DONmasterהַסּוֹדhas/SODof secretהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִמְסַרnim/SARwas administeredלְקַיִןle/KA/yinunto Cainמִיַּדmiy/YADbyהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanוְעִירָדve/I/RADand Iradבֶּן־חֲנוֹךְben-Cha/NOKHthe son of Enochיָדַעya/DAhaving knownאֶת־סוֹדָםet-so/DAMtheir secretוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelbeganלְגַלּוֹתוֹle/gal/lo/TOto reveal itלִבְנֵיliv/NEunto the sonsאָדָם׃A/DAMof Adam

    For Lamech having entered into a covenant with Satan, after the manner of Cain, wherein he became Master Mahan, master of that great secret which was administered unto Cain by Satan; and Irad, the son of Enoch, having known their secret, began to reveal it unto the sons of Adam;

50. 50

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeהָרַגha/RAGslewלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַּחֲרוֹןba/cha/RONin the heatאַפּוֹap/POof his angerלֹאlonotכַאֲשֶׁרkha/a/SHERasהָרַגha/RAGslewקַיִןKA/yinCainאֶת־הֶבֶלet-HE/velAbelאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofבֶּצַעBE/tsagetting gainכִּי־אִםki-imbutהֲרָגוֹha/ra/GOhe slew himלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofהַשְּׁבוּעָה׃hash/she/vu/Athe oath

    Wherefore Lamech, being angry, slew him, not like unto Cain, his brother Abel, for the sake of getting gain, but he slew him for the oath's sake.

51. 51

    כִּיkiforמִימֵיMI/mefrom the daysקַיִןKA/yinof Cainהָיָהha/YAthere wasקֶשֶׁרKE/shera combinationנִסְתָּרnis/TARsecretוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםu/ma/a/se/HEMand their worksהָיוּha/YUwereבַחֹשֶׁךְva/CHO/shekhin the darkוַיֵּדְעוּvay/yed/Uand they knewאִישׁishevery manאֶת־אָחִיו׃et-a/CHIVhis brother

    For, from the days of Cain, there was a secret combination, and their works were in the dark, and they knew every man his brother.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeקִלֵּלkil/LELcursedיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordאֶת־לֶמֶךְet-LE/mekhLamechוְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹve/ET-be/TOand his houseוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall them thatכָּרְתוּka/re/TUentered intoבְרִיתve/RITa covenantעִם־הַשָּׂטָןim-Has/sa/TANwith Satanכִּיkiforלֹאlonotשָׁמְרוּsha/me/RUthey keptאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְלֹאve/LOand notטוֹבtovgoodהָיָהha/YAwas itבְעֵינָיוve/e/NAYVin his sightוְלֹאve/LOand notשֵׁרֵתshe/REThe ministered untoאֹתָםo/TAMthemוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםu/ma/a/se/HEMand their worksתּוֹעֵבָהto/e/VAabominationsהָיוּha/YUwereוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלִפְשֹׂטlif/SOTto spreadבְּכׇל־בְּנֵיbe/KHOL-be/NEamong all the sonsהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sonsהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    Wherefore the Lord cursed Lamech, and his house, and all them that had covenanted with Satan; for they kept not the commandments of God, and it displeased God, and he ministered not unto them, and their works were abominations, and began to spread among all the sons of men. And it was among the sons of men.

53. 53

    וּבְתוֹךְu/ve/TOKHand amongבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughtersהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menלֹאlonotדֻבְּרוּdub/be/RUwere spokenהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכִּיkibecauseלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeאֶת־הַסּוֹדet-has/SODthe secretלְנָשָׁיוle/na/SHAYVunto his wivesוַתִּמְרֹדְנָהvat/tim/rod/NAand they rebelledבוֹvoagainst himוַתַּגֵּדְנָהvat/tag/ged/NAand declaredאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthese thingsבַּחוּץba/CHUTSabroadוְלֹאve/LOand notחָמְלוּ׃cha/me/LUhad they compassion

    And among the daughters of men these things were not spoken, because that Lamech had spoken the secret unto his wives, and they rebelled against him, and declared these things abroad, and had not compassion;

54. 54

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeנִבְזָהniv/ZAdespised wasלֶמֶךְLE/mekhLamechוַיְגֹרַשׁvay/go/RASHand cast outוְלֹאve/LOand notבָאvahe cameעוֹדodany moreבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sonsהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menפֶּן־יָמוּת׃pen-ya/MUTlest he should die

    Wherefore Lamech was despised, and cast out, and came not among the sons of men, lest he should die.

55. 55

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganמַעֲשֵׂיma/a/SEthe worksהַחֹשֶׁךְha/CHO/shekhof darknessלִגְבֹּרlig/BORto prevailבְּכׇל־בְּנֵיbe/KHOL-be/NEamong all the sonsהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    And thus the works of darkness began to prevail among all the sons of men.

56. 56

    וַיְקַלֵּלvay/kal/LELand cursedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthקְלָלָהke/la/LAwith a curseקָשָׁהka/SHAsoreוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand was angryלוֹloheבָרְשָׁעִיםva/re/sha/IMwith the wickedבְּכׇל־בְּנֵיbe/KHOL-be/NEwith all the sonsהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomעָשָׂה׃a/SAhe made

    And God cursed the earth with a sore curse, and was angry with the wicked, with all the sons of men whom he had made;

57. 57

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey would hearkenבְקוֹלוֹve/ko/LOunto his voiceוְלֹאve/LOnorהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nubelieveבִּבְנוֹBiv/NOon his Sonהַיָּחִידhay/Ya/CHIDthe Only Begottenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאָמַרa/MARhe declaredיָבֹאya/VOshould comeבְּאֶמְצַעbe/em/TSAin the meridianהָעִתִּיםha/it/TIMof timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּכַןhu/KHANwas preparedמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom beforeיְסוֹדye/SODthe foundationהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMof the world

    For they would not hearken unto his voice, nor believe on his Only Begotten Son, even him whom he declared should come in the meridian of time, who was prepared from before the foundation of the world.

58. 58

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהֵחֵלָּהhe/CHEL/labeganהַבְּשׂוֹרָהhab/be/so/RAthe gospelלְהִקָּרֵאle/hik/ka/REto be preachedמֵרֵאשִׁיתme/re/SHITfrom the beginningבְּפִיbe/FIbeing declared byמַלְאֲכֵיmal/a/KHEangelsקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholyהַשְּׁלוּחִיםhash/she/lu/CHIMsent forthמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom the presenceאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוּבְקוֹלוֹu/ve/ko/LOand by his own voiceוּבְמַתַּתu/ve/mat/TATand by the giftרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃RU/ach-Hak/KO/deshof the Holy Ghost

    And thus the Gospel began to be preached, from the beginning, being declared by holy angels sent forth from the presence of God, and by his own voice, and by the gift of the Holy Ghost.

59. 59

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusנֶאֱמָנוּne/e/MA/nuwere confirmedכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםkhol-had/de/va/RIMall thingsלְאָדָםle/A/DAMunto Adamבְּחֻקַּתbe/chuk/KATby an ordinanceקֹדֶשׁKO/deshof holinessוְהַבְּשׂוֹרָהve/hab/be/so/RAand the gospelנִקְרְאָהnik/re/Apreachedוּגְזֵרָהu/ge/ze/RAand a decreeיָצְאָהya/tse/Asent forthכִּיkithatתִהְיֶהtih/YEit should beבָעוֹלָםva/o/LAMin the worldעַד־קִצּוֹad-kits/TSOuntil the end thereofוְכֵןve/KHENand thusהָיָהha/YAit wasאָמֵן׃a/MENAmen

    And thus all things were confirmed unto Adam, by an holy ordinance, and the Gospel preached, and a decree sent forth, that it should be in the world, until the end thereof; and thus it was. Amen.
