   And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.

   And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters.

   And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light; and there was light.

   וַיָּבִינוּvay/ya/VI/nuand comprehendedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־הָאוֹרet-ha/ORthe lightכִּי־בָהִירki-va/HIRfor it was brightוַיַּבְדִּילוּvay/yav/DI/luand they dividedאֶת־הָאוֹרet-ha/ORthe lightמִן־הַחֹשֶׁךְmin-ha/CHO/shekhfrom the darknessאוֹoorהִבְדִּילוּהוּ׃hiv/di/lu/HUthey divided it

   And they (the Gods) comprehended the light, for it was bright; and they divided the light, or caused it to be divided, from the darkness.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsגַּםgamalsoיְהִיye/HIlet there beרָקִיעַra/KI/aan expanseבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַמָּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersוִיהִיvi/HIand it shall beמַבְדִּילmav/DILdividingבֵּיןbenbetweenמַיִםMA/yimthe watersלָמָיִם׃la/MA/yimfrom the waters

   And the Gods also said: Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and it shall divide the waters from the waters.

   And the Gods ordered the expanse, so that it divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so, even as they ordered.

   And the Gods called the expanse, Heaven. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and this was the second time that they called night and day.

   וַיְצַוּוּvay/tsav/VUand orderedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיִקָּווּyik/ka/VUlet be gathered togetherהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatunderהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavenאֶל־מָקוֹםel-ma/KOMunto placeאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְתַעַלve/TA/aland let come upהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthיְבֵשָׁהye/ve/SHAdryוַיְהִי־כֵןvay/HI-khenand it was soכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוּוּ׃tsiv/VUthey ordered

   And the Gods ordered, saying: Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the earth come up dry; and it was so as they ordered;

    וַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand pronouncedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsלַיַּבָּשָׁהlay/yab/ba/SHAthe dry landאֶרֶץE/retsEarthוּלְמִקְוֵהu/le/mik/VEand the gathering togetherהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimof the watersקָרְאוּka/re/Upronounced theyמַיִםMA/yimWatersרַבִּיםRab/BIMGreatוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsכִּיkithatנִשְׁמְעוּ׃nish/me/Uthey were obeyed

    And the Gods pronounced the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, pronounced they, Great Waters; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנָכִיןna/KHINlet us prepareאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIto bring forthדֶּשֶׁאDE/shegrassעֵשֶׂבE/sevthe herbמַזְרִיעַmaz/RI/ayieldingזֶרַעZE/raseedעֵץetsthe treeפְּרִיpe/RIof fruitעֹשֶׂהo/SEyieldingפְּרִיpe/RIfruitלְמִינוֹle/mi/NOafter his kindאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseזַרְעוֹ־בוֹzar/O-voseed in itselfיוֹצִיאyo/TSIyieldethדְמוּתוֹde/mu/TOits own likenessעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthוַיְהִי־כֵןvay/HI-khenand it was soכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asצִוּוּ׃tsiv/VUthey ordered

    And the Gods said: Let us prepare the earth to bring forth grass; the herb yielding seed; the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, whose seed in itself yieldeth its own likeness upon the earth; and it was so, even as they ordered.

    And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth grass from its own seed, and the herb to bring forth herb from its own seed, yielding seed after his kind; and the earth to bring forth the tree from its own seed, yielding fruit, whose seed could only bring forth the same in itself, after his kind; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.

    וַיִּמְנוּvay/yim/NUand they numberedאֶת־הַיָּמִיםet-hay/ya/MIMthe daysמֵעֶרֶבme/E/revfrom the eveningעַד־בֹּקֶרad-BO/keruntil the morningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledלָיְלָהLAY/lanightוּמִבֹּקֶרu/mib/BO/kerand from the morningעַד־עֶרֶבad-E/revuntil the eveningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledיוֹםyomdayוְזֶהve/ZEand it wasהַפַּעַםhap/PA/amthe timeהַשְּׁלִישִׁית׃hash/she/li/SHITthird

    And it came to pass that they numbered the days; from the evening until the morning they called night; and it came to pass, from the morning until the evening they called day; and it was the third time.

    וַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand organizedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־הַמְּאֹרֹתet-ham/me/o/ROTthe lightsבִּרְקִיעַbir/KI/ain the expanseהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the heavenלְהַבְדִּילle/hav/DILto divideבֵּיןbenbetweenהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayוּבֵיןu/VENandהַלָּיְלָהhal/LAY/lafrom the nightוַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand organizedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלְאֹתֹתle/o/TOTfor signsוּלְמוֹעֲדִיםu/le/mo/a/DIMand for seasonsוּלְיָמִיםu/le/ya/MIMand for daysוְשָׁנִים׃ve/sha/NIMand for years

    And the Gods organized the lights in the expanse of the heaven, and caused them to divide the day from the night; and organized them to be for signs and for seasons, and for days and for years;

15. 15

    וַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand organizedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלִמְאוֹרֹתlim/o/ROTfor lightsבִּרְקִיעַbir/KI/ain the expanseהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the heavenלְהָאִירle/ha/IRto give lightעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthוַיְהִי־כֵן׃vay/HI-khenand it was so

    And organized them to be for lights in the expanse of the heaven to give light upon the earth; and it was so.

16. 16

    וַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand organizedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־שְׁנֵיet-she/NEtwoהַמְּאֹרֹתham/me/o/ROTlightsהַגְּדֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMgreatאֶת־הַמָּאוֹרet-ham/ma/ORthe luminaryהַגָּדֹלhag/ga/DOLgreaterלְמֶמְשֶׁלֶתle/mem/SHE/letto ruleהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayוְאֶת־הַמָּאוֹרve/ET-ham/ma/ORand the luminaryהַקָּטֹןhak/ka/TONlesserלְמֶמְשֶׁלֶתle/mem/SHE/letto ruleהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/lathe nightוְעִםve/IMwithהַמָּאוֹרham/ma/ORthe luminaryהַקָּטֹןhak/ka/TONlesserשָׂמוּSA/muthey setאֵת־הַכּוֹכָבִיםet-hak/ko/kha/VIMthe starsגַּם׃gamalso

    And the Gods organized the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the stars also;

17. 17

    וַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand setאֹתָםo/TAMthemהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsבִּרְקִיעַbir/KI/ain the expanseהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the heavensלְהָאִירle/ha/IRto give lightעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthוְלִמְשֹׁלve/lim/SHOLand to ruleבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMover the dayוּבַלַּיְלָהu/val/LAY/laand over the nightוּלְהַבְדִּילu/le/hav/DILand to cause to divideבֵּיןbenbetweenהָאוֹרha/ORthe lightוּבֵיןu/VENandהַחֹשֶׁךְ׃ha/CHO/shekhfrom the darkness

    And the Gods set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the darkness.

18. 18

    וַיִּצְפּוּvay/yits/PUand watchedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsלַדְּבָרִיםlad/de/va/RIMthose thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichצִוּוּtsiv/VUthey orderedעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִשְׁמְעוּ׃nish/me/Uthey obeyed

    And the Gods watched those things which they had ordered until they obeyed.

19. 19

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמֵעֶרֶבme/E/revfrom eveningעַד־בֹּקֶרad-BO/keruntil morningלָיְלָהLAY/lait was nightוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמִבֹּקֶרmib/BO/kerfrom morningעַד־עֶרֶבad-E/revuntil eveningיוֹםyomit was dayוְזֶהve/ZEand it wasהַפַּעַםhap/PA/amthe timeהָרְבִיעִית׃ha/re/vi/ITfourth

    And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that it was night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that it was day; and it was the fourth time.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנָכִיןna/KHINlet us prepareאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersלִשְׁרֹץlish/ROTSto bring forth abundantlyשֶׁרֶץSHE/retsthe moving creaturesנֶפֶשׁNE/feshthat haveחַיָּהchay/YAlifeוְעוֹףve/OFand the fowlיְעוֹפֵףye/o/FEFthat they may flyעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsabove the earthעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEin the openרְקִיעַre/KI/aexpanseהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimof heaven

    And the Gods said: Let us prepare the waters to bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life; and the fowl, that they may fly above the earth in the open expanse of heaven.

    וַיָּכִינוּvay/ya/KHI/nuand preparedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIthat they might bring forthאֶת־הַתַּנִּינִםet-hat/tan/ni/NIMwhalesהַגְּדֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMgreatוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־נֶפֶשׁkol-NE/fesheveryהַחַיָּהha/chay/YAliving creatureהָרֹמֶשֶׂתha/ro/ME/setthat movethאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִשְׁרְצוּyish/re/TSUwere to bring forth abundantlyהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersלְמִינֵהֶםle/mi/ne/HEMafter their kindוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־עוֹףkol-ofeveryכָּנָףka/NAFwinged fowlלְמִינֵהוּle/mi/NE/huafter their kindוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsכִּיkithatיִשָּׁמְעוּyish/SHAM/uthey would be obeyedוְכִיve/KHIand thatעֲצָתָםa/tsa/TAMtheir plan wasטוֹבָה׃to/VAgood

    And the Gods prepared the waters that they might bring forth great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters were to bring forth abundantly after their kind; and every winged fowl after their kind. And the Gods saw that they would be obeyed, and that their plan was good.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנְבָרֵךְne/va/REKHwe will blessאֹתָםo/TAMthemוְנַעֲשֵׂםve/na/a/SEMand cause themלִפְרוֹתlif/ROTto be fruitfulוְלִרְבוֹתve/lir/VOTand multiplyוּלְמַלֵּאu/le/mal/LEand fillאֶת־הַמַּיִםet-ham/MA/yimthe watersבַּיַּמִּיםbay/yam/MIMin the seasאוֹoorהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimwatersהָרַבִּיםha/rab/BIMgreatוְנַרְבֶּהve/nar/BEand cause to multiplyאֶת־הָעוֹףet-ha/OFthe fowlבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the earth

    And the Gods said: We will bless them, and cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas or great waters; and cause the fowl to multiply in the earth.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמֵעֶרֶבme/E/revfrom eveningעַד־בֹּקֶרad-BO/keruntil morningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledלָיְלָהLAY/lanightוּמִבֹּקֶרu/mib/BO/kerand from morningעַד־עֶרֶבad-E/revuntil eveningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledיוֹםyomdayוְזֶהve/ZEand it wasהַפַּעַםhap/PA/amthe timeהַחֲמִישִׁית׃ha/cha/mi/SHITfifth

    And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and it was the fifth time.

    וַיָּכִינוּvay/ya/KHI/nuand preparedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIto bring forthנֶפֶשׁNE/feshcreatureחַיָּהchay/YAlivingלְמִינָהּle/mi/NAafter his kindבְּהֵמָהbe/he/MAcattleוָרֶמֶשׂva/RE/mesand creeping thingsוְחַיַּתve/chay/YATand beastsהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthלְמִינָהּle/mi/NAafter their kindוַיְהִי־כֵןvay/HI-khenand it was soכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמָרוּ׃a/ma/RUthey said

    And the Gods prepared the earth to bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind; and it was so, as they had said.

25. 25

    וַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand organizedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIto bring forthאֶת־הַחַיָּהet-ha/chay/YAthe beastsלְמִינָהּle/mi/NAafter their kindוְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָהve/ET-hab/be/he/MAand cattleלְמִינָהּle/mi/NAafter their kindוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־רֶמֶשׂkol-RE/mesevery thing that creepeth uponהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe earthלְמִינֵהוּle/mi/NE/huafter its kindוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsכִּיkithatיִשָּׁמְעוּ׃yish/SHAM/uthey would obey

    And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth the beasts after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after its kind; and the Gods saw they would obey.

    וַיִּוָּעֲצוּvay/yiv/va/a/TSUand took counselהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMamong themselvesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidנֵרְדָהner/DAlet us go downוְנִיצְרָהve/ni/tse/RAand let us formאָדָםa/DAMmanבְּצַלְמֵנוּbe/tsal/ME/nuin our imageכִּדְמוּתֵנוּkid/mu/TE/nuafter our likenessוְנִתְּנָהve/nit/te/NAand we will giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemמֶמְשָׁלָהmem/sha/LAdominionבִּדְגַתbid/GATover the fishהַיָּםhay/YAMof the seaוּבְעוֹףu/ve/OFand over the fowlהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the airוּבַבְּהֵמָהu/vab/be/he/MAand over the cattleוּבְכׇל־הָאָרֶץu/ve/KHOL-ha/A/retsand over all the earthוּבְכׇל־הָרֶמֶשׂu/ve/KHOL-ha/RE/mesand over every creeping thingהָרֹמֵשׂha/ro/MESthat creepethעַל־הָאָרֶץ׃al-ha/A/retsupon the earth

    And the Gods took counsel among themselves and said: Let us go down and form man in our image, after our likeness; and we will give them dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

    וַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUso went downהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsלַעֲרֹךְla/a/ROKHto organizeאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMmanבְּצַלְמָםbe/tsal/MAMin their own imageבְּצֶלֶםbe/TSE/lemin the imageהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMof the Godsיָצְרוּya/tse/RUformed theyאֹתוֹo/TOhimזָכָרza/KHARmaleוּנְקֵבָהu/ne/ke/VAand femaleיָצְרוּya/tse/RUformed theyאֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    So the Gods went down to organize man in their own image, in the image of the Gods to form they him, male and female to form they them.

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנְבָרֵךְne/va/REKHwe will blessאֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנַעֲשֵׂםna/a/SEMwe will cause themלִפְרוֹתlif/ROTto be fruitfulוְלִרְבוֹתve/lir/VOTand multiplyוּלְמַלֵּאu/le/mal/LEand replenishאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthוּלְכׇבְשָׁהּu/le/khov/SHAand subdue itוְלִרְדּוֹתve/lir/DOTand to have dominionבִּדְגַתbid/GATover the fishהַיָּםhay/YAMof the seaוּבְעוֹףu/ve/OFand over the fowlהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the airוּבְכׇל־חַיָּהu/ve/KHOL-chay/YAand over every living thingהָרֹמֶשֶׂתha/ro/ME/setthat movethעַל־הָאָרֶץ׃al-ha/A/retsupon the earth

    And the Gods said: We will bless them. And the Gods said: We will cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and to have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwe will giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemאֶת־כׇּל־עֵשֶׂבet-kol-E/sevevery herbזֹרֵעַzo/RE/abearingזֶרַעZE/raseedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָבֹאya/VOshall comeעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceכׇל־הָאָרֶץkhol-ha/A/retsof all the earthוְאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֵץve/ET-kol-ha/ETSand every treeאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹa/SHER-bowhich shall haveפְּרִיpe/RIfruit upon itאַףafyeaפְּרִיpe/RIthe fruitהָעֵץha/ETSof the treeזֹרֵעַzo/RE/ayieldingזֶרַעZE/raseedלָהֶםla/HEMto themנִתְּנֶנּוּnit/te/nen/NUwe will give itיִהְיֶהyih/YEit shall beלְאׇכְלָה׃le/okh/LAfor their meat

    And the Gods said: Behold, we will give them every herb bearing seed that shall come upon the face of all the earth, and every tree which shall have fruit upon it; yea, the fruit of the tree yielding seed to them we will give it; it shall be for their meat.

30. 30

    וּלְכׇל־חַיַּתu/le/KHOL-chay/YATand to every beastהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthוּלְכׇל־עוֹףu/le/KHOL-ofand to every fowlהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the airוּלְכֹלu/le/KHOLand to everyרוֹמֵשׂro/MEScreeping thingעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwe will giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוְגַםve/GAMand alsoנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwe will giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemאֶת־כׇּל־יֶרֶקet-kol-YE/rekevery greenעֵשֶׂבE/sevof herbלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor meatוְכׇל־אֵלֶּהve/KHOL-EL/leand all these thingsיֵעָרְכוּye/a/re/KHUshall be organizedכֵּן׃kenthus

    And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, behold, we will give them life, and also we will give to them every green herb for meat, and all these things shall be thus organized.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/E/lo/HIMthe Godsנַעֲשֶׂהna/a/SEwe will doכֹּלkoleverythingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָמַרְנוּa/MAR/nuwe saidוְנַעַרְכֵםve/na/ar/KHEMand organize themוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdיִשָּׁמְעוּyish/SHAM/uthey shall be obedientמְאֹדme/ODveryוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמֵעֶרֶבme/E/revfrom eveningעַד־בֹּקֶרad-BO/keruntil morningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledלָיְלָהLAY/lanightוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמִבֹּקֶרmib/BO/kerfrom morningעַד־עֶרֶבad-E/revuntil eveningקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey calledיוֹםyomdayוַיִּמְנוּvay/yim/NUand they numberedהַפַּעַםhap/PA/amthe timeהַשִּׁשִּׁית׃hash/shish/SHITsixth

    And the Gods said: We will do everything that we have said, and organize them; and behold, they shall be very obedient. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and they numbered the sixth time.
