אָנָהwhitherהָלַךְwentדּוֹדֵךְyour loverהַיָּפָהthe beautifulבַּנָּשִׁיםamong the womenאָנָהwhitherפָּנָהturnedדוֹדֵךְyour loverוּנְבַקְשֶׁנּוּso we may seek himעִמָּךְ׃with you
Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee.

דּוֹדִיmy belovedיָרַדcame downלְגַנּוֹto his gardenלַעֲרֻגוֹתto the beds ofהַבֹּשֶׂםthe spiceלִרְעוֹתto tendבַּגַּנִּיםin the gardensוְלִלְקֹטand to gatherשׁוֹשַׁנִּים׃lilies
My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

אֲנִיIלְדוֹדִיto my loverוְדוֹדִיand my loverלִיto meהָרֹעֶהthe shepherdבַּשּׁוֹשַׁנִּים׃among the lilies
I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

יָפָהbeautifulאַתְּyouרַעְיָתִיO my loveכְּתִרְצָהlike Tirzahנָאוָהis fittingכִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםlike Jerusalemאֲיֻמָּהmajesticכַּנִּדְגָּלוֹת׃like the hosts with banners
Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners.

הָסֵבִּיturn awayעֵינַיִךְyour eyesמִנֶּגְדִּיfrom before meשֶׁהֵםthat theyהִרְהִיבֻנִיthey have confused meשַׂעְרֵךְyour hairכְּעֵדֶרlike a flock ofהָעִזִּיםthe goatsשֶׁגָּלְשׁוּthat have descendedמִן־הַגִּלְעָד׃from Gilead
Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me: thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead.

שִׁנַּיִךְyour teethכְּעֵדֶרlike a flock ofהָרְחֵלִיםthe ewesשֶׁעָלוּthat have come upמִן־הָרַחְצָהfrom the washingשֶׁכֻּלָּםthat all of themמַתְאִימוֹתare bearing twinsוְשַׁכֻּלָהand is one deprived of offspringאֵיןthere is noבָּהֶם׃in them
Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them.

כְּפֶלַחlike a piece ofהָרִמּוֹןthe pomegranateרַקָּתֵךְyour templeמִבַּעַדfrom behindלְצַמָּתֵךְ׃to your veil
As a piece of a pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks.

שִׁשִּׁיםsixtyהֵמָּהtheyמְלָכוֹתqueensוּשְׁמֹנִיםand eightyפִּילַגְשִׁיםconcubinesוַעֲלָמוֹתand young womenאֵיןthere is noמִסְפָּר׃number
There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

אַחַתoneהִיאsheיוֹנָתִיO my doveתַמָּתִיmy perfect oneאַחַתoneהִיאsheלְאִמָּהּof her motherבָּרָהthe choice oneהִיאsheלְיוֹלַדְתָּהּof her the one who boreרָאוּהָthey saw herבָנוֹתdaughtersוַיְאַשְּׁרוּהָand they called blessed herמְלָכוֹתqueensוּפִילַגְשִׁיםand concubinesוַיְהַלְלוּהָ׃and they praised her
My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.

מִי־זֹאתwho thisהַנִּשְׁקָפָהis the one who looks downכְּמוֹ־שָׁחַרas the dawnיָפָהbeautifulכַלְּבָנָהlike the full moonבָּרָהclearכַּחַמָּהlike the sunאֲיֻמָּהmajesticכַּנִּדְגָּלוֹת׃like the hosts with banners
Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?

אֶל־גִּנַּתto the garden ofאֱגוֹזnutsיָרַדְתִּיI went downלִרְאוֹתto seeבְּאִבֵּיon the green shoots ofהַנָּחַלthe riverלִרְאוֹתto seeהֲפָרְחָהhad it buddedהַגֶּפֶןthe vineהֵנֵצוּhad they bloomedהָרִמֹּנִים׃the pomegranates
I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates budded.

לֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI knowנַפְשִׁיmy soulשָׂמַתְנִיit set meמַרְכְּבוֹתthe chariots ofעַמִּיmy peopleנָדִיב׃willing person
Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib.
