    אֲנִיIחֲבַצֶּלֶתam the rose ofהַשָּׁרוֹןSharonשׁוֹשַׁנַּתlily ofהָעֲמָקִים׃the valleys

    I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

    כְּשׁוֹשַׁנָּהlike a lilyבֵּיןamongהַחוֹחִיםthe thornsכֵּןthusרַעְיָתִיO my loveבֵּיןamongהַבָּנוֹת׃the daughters

    As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.

    כְּתַפּוּחַlike an apple treeבַּעֲצֵיwith the wood ofהַיַּעַרthe forestכֵּןthusדּוֹדִיmy belovedבֵּיןamongהַבָּנִיםthe sonsבְּצִלּוֹin his shadeחִמַּדְתִּיI desiredוְיָשַׁבְתִּיand I satוּפִרְיוֹand its fruitמָתוֹקsweetלְחִכִּי׃to my palate

    As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

    הֱבִיאַנִיhe has brought meאֶל־בֵּיתto the house ofהַיָּיִןthe wineוְדִגְלוֹand his standardעָלַיupon meאַהֲבָה׃love

    He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

    סַמְּכוּנִיsustain meבָּאֲשִׁישׁוֹתwith raisin cakesרַפְּדוּנִיrefresh meבַּתַּפּוּחִיםwith the applesכִּי־חוֹלַתbecause am weak ofאַהֲבָהloveאָנִי׃I

    Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.

    שְׂמֹאלוֹhis left handתַּחַתunderלְרֹאשִׁיmy headוִימִינוֹand his right handתְּחַבְּקֵנִי׃it embraces me

    His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.

    הִשְׁבַּעְתִּיI adjureאֶתְכֶםyouבְּנוֹתthe daughters ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemבִּצְבָאוֹתby gazellesאוֹorבְּאַיְלוֹתby the does ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldאִם־תָּעִירוּif you will awakenוְאִם־תְּעוֹרְרוּand if you will arouseאֶת־הָאַהֲבָהthe loveעַדuntilשֶׁתֶּחְפָּץ׃that it will please

    I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

    קוֹלthe voice ofדּוֹדִיmy belovedהִנֵּה־זֶהbehold thisבָּאcameמְדַלֵּגis leapingעַל־הֶהָרִיםupon the mountainsמְקַפֵּץis boundingעַל־הַגְּבָעוֹת׃upon the hills

    The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.

    דּוֹמֶהis likeדוֹדִיO my belovedלִצְבִיto a deerאוֹorלְעֹפֶרthe fawn ofהָאַיָּלִיםthe deerהִנֵּה־זֶהbehold thisעוֹמֵדstandingאַחַרafterכׇּתְלֵנוּthe wall of usמַשְׁגִּיחַis gazingמִן־הַחַלֹּנוֹתfrom the windowsמֵצִיץis peeringמִן־הַחֲרַכִּים׃from the lattices

    My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.

    עָנָהhe has testifiedדוֹדִיO my belovedוְאָמַרand saidלִיto meקוּמִיstand upלָךְto youרַעְיָתִיO my loveיָפָתִיmy beautiful oneוּלְכִי־לָךְ׃and go for you

    My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

    כִּי־הִנֵּהbecause beholdהַסְּתָוthe winterעָבָרit passed onהַגֶּשֶׁםthe rainחָלַףit has passed awayהָלַךְwentלוֹ׃to him

    For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;

  12. 12

    הַנִּצָּנִיםthe blossomsנִרְאוּappearבָאָרֶץin the landעֵתtimeהַזָּמִירthe singingהִגִּיעַis comeוְקוֹלand the voice ofהַתּוֹרthe turtle doveנִשְׁמַעwas heardבְּאַרְצֵנוּ׃in our own land

    The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

    הַתְּאֵנָהthe fig treeחָנְטָהit has ripenedפַגֶּיהָits early figsוְהַגְּפָנִיםand the vinesסְמָדַרblossomנָתְנוּthey gaveרֵיחַaroma ofקוּמִיstand up(לכי)[לָךְ]unto youרַעְיָתִיO my loveיָפָתִיmy beautiful oneוּלְכִי־לָךְ׃and go for you

    The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

    יוֹנָתִיO my doveבְּחַגְוֵיin the clefts ofהַסֶּלַעthe rockבְּסֵתֶרin the cover ofהַמַּדְרֵגָהthe steep placeהַרְאִינִיlet see meאֶת־מַרְאַיִךְyour formהַשְׁמִיעִנִיmake hear meאֶת־קוֹלֵךְyour voiceכִּי־קוֹלֵךְbecause your voiceעָרֵבis sweetוּמַרְאֵיךְand your formנָאוֶה׃is suitable

    O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.

    אֶחֱזוּ־לָנוּtake usשֻׁעָלִיםfoxesשֻׁעָלִיםfoxesקְטַנִּיםlittleמְחַבְּלִיםthat spoilכְּרָמִיםvineyardsוּכְרָמֵינוּand our vineyardsסְמָדַר׃blossom

    Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

    דּוֹדִיmy belovedלִיto meוַאֲנִיand Iלוֹto himהָרֹעֶהthe shepherdבַּשּׁוֹשַׁנִּים׃among the lilies

    My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.

  17. 17

    עַדuntilשֶׁיָּפוּחַthat will breatheהַיּוֹםthe dayוְנָסוּand they will fleeהַצְּלָלִיםthe shadowsסֹבgoing roundדְּמֵה־לְךָbe like for youדוֹדִיO my belovedלִצְבִיto a deerאוֹorלְעֹפֶרthe fawn ofהָאַיָּלִיםthe deerעַל־הָרֵיupon the mountains ofבָתֶר׃ravines

    Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.
