   שִׁירa songמִזְמוֹרa psalmלִבְנֵי־קֹרַחunto the sons of Korahלַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־מָחֲלַתupon Mahalathלְעַנּוֹתleannothמַשְׂכִּילa maskilלְהֵימָןfor Hemanהָאֶזְרָחִי׃the Ezrahite

   A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite.

   יְהֹוָהO LORDאֱלֹהֵיGod ofיְשׁוּעָתִיis my salvationיוֹם־צָעַקְתִּיby day have I cried outבַלַּיְלָהin the nightנֶגְדֶּךָ׃before You

   O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

   תָּבוֹאlet comeלְפָנֶיךָbefore Youתְּפִלָּתִיmy prayerהַטֵּהinclineאׇזְנְךָYour earלְרִנָּתִי׃to my cry

   Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

   כִּי־שָׂבְעָהfor is fullבְרָעוֹתwith troublesנַפְשִׁיmy soulוְחַיַּיand my lifeלִשְׁאוֹלin Sheolהִגִּיעוּ׃draws near

   For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

   נֶחְשַׁבְתִּיI am countedעִם־יוֹרְדֵיwith those who go down toבוֹרthe pitהָיִיתִיI amכְּגֶבֶרlike a manאֵין־אֱיָל׃who has no strength

   I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:

   בַּמֵּתִיםamong the deadחׇפְשִׁיcast offכְּמוֹlikeחֲלָלִיםthe slainשֹׁכְבֵיwho lie inקֶבֶרthe graveאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotזְכַרְתָּםYou remember themעוֹדany moreוְהֵמָּהand they areמִיָּדְךָfrom Your handנִגְזָרוּ׃cut off

   Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

   שַׁתַּנִיYou have laid meבְּבוֹרin the pitתַּחְתִּיּוֹתof the lowest depthsבְּמַחֲשַׁכִּיםin the dark placesבִּמְצֹלוֹת׃in the depths

   Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

   עָלַיupon meסָמְכָהlies hardחֲמָתֶךָYour wrathוְכׇל־מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָand with all Your wavesעִנִּיתָYou have afflicted meסֶּלָה׃Selah

   Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.

   הִרְחַקְתָּYou have put far from meמְיֻדָּעַיmy acquaintancesמִמֶּנִּיfrom meשַׁתַּנִיYou have made meתוֹעֵבוֹתan abominationלָמוֹto themכָּלֻאI am shut upוְלֹאand notאֵצֵא׃can I come forth

   Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

    עֵינִיmy eyeדָאֲבָהwastes awayמִנִּי־עֹנִיby reason of afflictionקְרָאתִיךָI have called upon YouיְהֹוָהO LORDבְּכׇל־יוֹםevery dayשִׁטַּחְתִּיI have stretched outאֵלֶיךָto Youכַפָּי׃my hands

    Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

11. 11

    הֲלַמֵּתִיםto the deadתַּעֲשֶׂה־פֶּלֶאwill You do wondersאִם־רְפָאִיםshall the shadesיָקוּמוּariseיוֹדוּךָand praise Youסֶּלָה׃Selah

    Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.

12. 12

    הַיְסֻפַּרshall be declaredבַּקֶּבֶרin the graveחַסְדֶּךָYour mercyאֱמוּנָתְךָYour faithfulnessבָּאֲבַדּוֹן׃in Abaddon

    Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?

13. 13

    הֲיִוָּדַעshall be knownבַּחֹשֶׁךְin the darknessפִּלְאֶךָYour wondersוְצִדְקָתְךָand Your righteousnessבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofנְשִׁיָּה׃of forgetfulness

    Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

14. 14

    וַאֲנִיand Iאֵלֶיךָto YouיְהֹוָהO LORDשִׁוַּעְתִּיhave I criedוּבַבֹּקֶרand in the morningתְּפִלָּתִיmy prayerתְקַדְּמֶךָּ׃shall come before You

    But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.

15. 15

    לָמָהwhyיְהֹוָהO LORDתִּזְנַחdo You cast offנַפְשִׁיmy soulתַּסְתִּירwill You hideפָּנֶיךָYour faceמִמֶּנִּי׃from me

    LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

16. 16

    עָנִיafflictedאֲנִיI amוְגֹוֵעַand ready to dieמִנֹּעַרfrom my youth upנָשָׂאתִיI have borneאֵמֶיךָYour terrorsאָפוּנָה׃I am distraught

    I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

17. 17

    עָלַיupon meעָבְרוּhave gone overחֲרוֹנֶיךָYour fierce wrathבִּעוּתֶיךָYour terrorsצִמְּתוּתֻנִי׃have cut me off

    Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.

18. 18

    סַבּוּנִיthey surrounded meכַמַּיִםlike waterכׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayהִקִּיפוּthey closed inעָלַיupon meיָחַד׃together

    They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

19. 19

    הִרְחַקְתָּYou have put far from meמִמֶּנִּיfrom meאֹהֵבloverוָרֵעַand a friendמְיֻדָּעַיmy acquaintancesמַחְשָׁךְ׃are in darkness

    Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.
