   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianאַל־תַּשְׁחֵתAl-tashhethלְדָוִדof Davidמִכְתָּם׃a miktam

   To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, Michtam of David.

2. 2

   הַאֻמְנָםdo you indeedאֵלֶםin silenceצֶדֶקrighteousnessתְּדַבֵּרוּןspeakמֵישָׁרִיםuprightlyתִּשְׁפְּטוּdo you judgeבְּנֵיO sons ofאָדָם׃man

   Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

   אַף־בְּלֵבno in heartעוֹלֹתwrongsתִּפְעָלוּןyou workבָּאָרֶץin the earthחֲמַסthe violence ofיְדֵיכֶםyour handsתְּפַלֵּסוּן׃you deal out

   Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

   זֹרוּare estrangedרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedמֵרָחֶםfrom the wombתָּעוּthey go astrayמִבֶּטֶןfrom birthדֹּבְרֵיthose who speakכָזָב׃lies

   The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

   חֲמַת־לָמוֹtheir poison isכִּדְמוּתlikeחֲמַת־נָחָשׁthe poison of a serpentכְּמוֹ־פֶתֶןlike a cobraחֵרֵשׁdeafיַאְטֵםthat stopsאׇזְנוֹ׃its ear

   Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

   אֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִשְׁמַעwill not hearken toלְקוֹלthe voice ofמְלַחֲשִׁיםcharmersחוֹבֵרcharmingחֲבָרִיםspellsמְחֻכָּם׃never so wisely

   Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

   אֱלֹהִיםO Godהֲרׇס־שִׁנֵּימוֹbreak their teethבְּפִימוֹin their mouthמַלְתְּעוֹתthe teeth ofכְּפִירִיםyoung lionsנְתֹץbreak outיְהֹוָה׃O LORD

   Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

   יִמָּאֲסוּlet them melt awayכְמוֹ־מַיִםlike waterיִתְהַלְּכוּ־לָמוֹwhich run continuallyיִדְרֹךְwhen he aimsחִצָּוhis arrowsכְּמוֹlikeיִתְמֹלָלוּ׃let them be cut in pieces

   Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

   כְּמוֹlikeשַׁבְּלוּלa snailתֶּמֶסmelting awayיַהֲלֹךְwhich passes onנֵפֶלthe untimely birth ofאֵשֶׁתa womanבַּל־חָזוּthat have not seenשָׁמֶשׁ׃the sun

   As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

10. 10

    בְּטֶרֶםbeforeיָבִינוּcan feelסִּירֹתֵכֶםyour potsאָטָדthe thornsכְּמוֹ־חַיboth greenכְּמוֹ־חָרוֹןand burningיִשְׂעָרֶנּוּ׃He shall sweep them away

    Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

11. 11

    יִשְׂמַחshall rejoiceצַדִּיקthe righteousכִּי־חָזָהwhen he seesנָקָםvengeanceפְּעָמָיוhis feetיִרְחַץhe shall washבְּדַםin the blood ofהָרָשָׁע׃the wicked

    The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

12. 12

    וְיֹאמַרso that shall sayאָדָםa manאַךְ־פְּרִיverily there is a rewardלַצַּדִּיקfor the righteousאַךְverilyיֵשׁ־אֱלֹהִיםthere is Godשֹׁפְטִיםwho judgesבָּאָרֶץ׃in the earth

    So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
