   עַל־נַהֲרוֹתal-na/ha/ROTby the rivers ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonשָׁםshamthereיָשַׁבְנוּya/SHAV/nuwe sat downגַּם־בָּכִינוּgam-ba/KHI/nuand weptבְּזׇכְרֵנוּbe/zokh/RE/nuwhen we rememberedאֶת־צִיּוֹן׃et-Tsiy/YONZion

   By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

   עַל־עֲרָבִיםal-a/ra/VIMon the willowsבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstתָּלִינוּta/LI/nuwe hungכִּנֹּרוֹתֵינוּ׃kin/no/ro/TE/nuour lyres

   We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

   כִּיkiforשָׁםshamthereשְׁאֵלוּנוּshe/e/LU/nuasked usשׁוֹבֵינוּsho/VE/nuthose who carried us away captiveדִּבְרֵי־שִׁירdiv/RE-shirthe words of a songוְתוֹלָלֵינוּve/to/la/LE/nuand our tormentorsשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAmirthשִׁירוּSHI/rusingלָנוּLA/nuto usמִשִּׁירmish/SHIRone of the songs ofצִיּוֹן׃Tsiy/YONZion

   For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

   אֵיךְekhhowנָשִׁירna/SHIRshall we singאֶת־שִׁיר־יְהֹוָהet-shir-Adonaithe LORD's songעַלalonאַדְמַתad/MATthe land ofנֵכָר׃ne/KHARa stranger

   How shall we sing the LORD's song in a strange land?

   אִם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְim-esh/ka/CHEKHif I forget youיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimO Jerusalemתִּשְׁכַּחtish/KACHlet forgetיְמִינִי׃ye/mi/NImy right hand

   If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

   תִּדְבַּק־לְשׁוֹנִיtid/BAK-le/sho/NIlet my tongue cleaveלְחִכִּיle/chik/KIto the roof of my mouthאִם־לֹאim-loif notאֶזְכְּרֵכִיez/ke/RE/khiI remember youאִם־לֹאim-loif notאַעֲלֶהa/a/LEI exaltאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםet-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemעַלalaboveרֹאשׁroshmy chiefשִׂמְחָתִי׃sim/cha/TImy joy

   If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

   זְכֹרze/KHORrememberיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDלִבְנֵיliv/NEthe children ofאֱדוֹםE/DOMEdomאֵת־יוֹםet-yomthe day ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemהָאֹמְרִיםha/om/RIMwho saidעָרוּA/rulay it bareעָרוּA/rulay it bareעַדaduntilהַיְסוֹדhay/SODthe foundationבָּהּ׃bain it

   Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

   בַּת־בָּבֶלbat-Ba/VELO daughter of Babylonהַשְּׁדוּדָהhash/she/du/DAdoomed to destructionאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed is heשֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָךְshey/shal/LEM-lakhwho repays youאֶת־גְּמוּלֵךְet-ge/mu/LEKHyour recompenseשֶׁגָּמַלְתְּsheg/ga/MALTwith which you dealtלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

   O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed is heשֶׁיֹּאחֵזshey/yo/CHEZwho takesוְנִפֵּץve/nip/PETSand dashesאֶת־עֹלָלַיִךְet-o/la/LA/yikhyour little onesאֶל־הַסָּלַע׃el-has/SA/laagainst the rock

   Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
