   The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,

   כִּיkisurelyבַעַרVA/aram more brutishאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵאִישׁme/ISHthan any manוְלֹא־בִינַתve/LO-vi/NATand not the understanding ofאָדָםa/DAMmanלִי׃lihave I

   Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

   וְלֹא־לָמַדְתִּיve/LO-la/MAD/tiand I have not learnedחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְדַעַתve/DA/atand the knowledge ofקְדֹשִׁיםKe/do/SHIMthe Holy Oneאֵדָע׃e/DAdo I know

   I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.

   מִיmiwhoעָלָה־שָׁמַיִםa/LA-sha/MA/yimhas ascended to heavenוַיֵּרַדvay/ye/RADand descendedמִיmiwhoאָסַף־רוּחַa/SAF-RU/achhas gathered the windבְּחׇפְנָיוbe/chof/NAYVin his fistsמִיmiwhoצָרַר־מַיִםtsa/RAR-MA/yimhas bound the watersבַּשִּׂמְלָהbas/sim/LAin a garmentמִיmiwhoהֵקִיםhe/KIMhas establishedכׇּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץkol-af/SE-A/retsall the ends of the earthמַה־שְּׁמוֹma-she/MOwhat is his nameוּמַה־שֶּׁם־בְּנוֹu/MA-shem-be/NOand what is his son's nameכִּיkisurelyתֵדָע׃te/DAyou know

   Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

   כׇּל־אִמְרַתkol-im/RATevery word ofאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodצְרוּפָהtse/ru/FAis testedמָגֵןma/GENa shieldהוּאhuHe isלַחֹסִיםla/cho/SIMto those who take refugeבּוֹ׃boin Him

   Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

   אַל־תּוֹסְףְּal-tosppdo not addעַל־דְּבָרָיוal-de/va/RAYVto His wordsפֶּן־יוֹכִיחַpen-yo/KHI/achlest He reproveבְּךָbe/KHAyouוְנִכְזָבְתָּ׃ve/nikh/ZAV/taand you will be proved a liar

   Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

   שְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwo thingsשָׁאַלְתִּיsha/AL/tiI have askedמֵאִתָּךְme/it/TAKHof Youאַל־תִּמְנַעal-tim/NAdo not withholdמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeאָמוּת׃a/MUTI die

   Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:

   שָׁוְאshavfalsehoodוּדְבַר־כָּזָבu/de/VAR-ka/ZAVand a lying wordהַרְחֵקhar/CHEKremove farמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meרֵאשׁreshpovertyוָעֹשֶׁרva/O/sherand richesאַל־תִּתֶּן־לִיal-tit/TEN-lido not give meהַטְרִיפֵנִיhat/ri/FE/nifeed meלֶחֶםLE/chemthe bread ofחֻקִּי׃chuk/KImy portion

   Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

9. 9

   פֶּן־אֶשְׂבַּעpen-es/BAlest I be fullוְכִחַשְׁתִּיve/khi/CHASH/tiand deny Youוְאָמַרְתִּיve/a/mar/TIand sayמִי־יְהֹוָהmi-Adonaiwho is the LORDוּפֶן־אִוָּרֵשׁu/FEN-iv/va/RESHor lest I be poorוְגָנַבְתִּיve/ga/NAV/tiand stealוְתָפַשְׂתִּיve/ta/FAS/tiand profaneשֵׁםshemthe name ofאֱלֹהָי׃e/lo/HAYmy God

   Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

10. 10

    אַל־תַּלְשֵׁןal-tal/SHENdo not slanderעֶבֶדE/veda servantאֶל־אֲדֹנָוel-a/do/NAVto his masterפֶּן־יְקַלֶּלְךָpen-ye/kal/lel/KHAlest he should curse youוְאָשָׁמְתָּ׃ve/a/SHAM/taand you be found guilty

    Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

11. 11

    דּוֹרdorthere is a generationאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherיְקַלֵּלye/kal/LELcursesוְאֶת־אִמּוֹve/ET-im/MOand his motherלֹאlodoes notיְבָרֵךְ׃ye/va/REKHbless

    There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

12. 12

    דּוֹרdora generationטָהוֹרta/HORpureבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin its own eyesוּמִצֹּאָתוֹu/mits/tso/a/TOand from its filthלֹאlonotרֻחָץ׃ru/CHATSwashed

    There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

13. 13

    דּוֹרdora generationמָה־רָמוּma-ra/MUhow lofty areעֵינָיוe/NAYVits eyesוְעַפְעַפָּיוve/af/ap/PAYVand its eyelidsיִנָּשֵׂאוּ׃yin/na/SE/uare lifted up

    There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

14. 14

    דּוֹרdora generationחֲרָבוֹתcha/ra/VOTare swordsשִׁנָּיוshin/NAYVits teethוּמַאֲכָלוֹתu/ma/a/kha/LOTand knivesמְתַלְּעֹתָיוme/tal/le/o/TAYVtheir jaw teethלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatעֲנִיִּיםa/niy/YIMthe afflictedמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the earthוְאֶבְיוֹנִיםve/ev/yo/NIMand the needyמֵאָדָם׃me/a/DAMfrom among men

    There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

    לַעֲלוּקָהla/a/lu/KAthe leech hasשְׁתֵּיshtetwoבָנוֹתva/NOTdaughtersהַבhavgiveהַבhavgiveשָׁלוֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeהֵנָּהHEN/nathingsלֹאloneverתִשְׂבַּעְנָהtis/BA/naare satisfiedאַרְבַּעar/BAfourלֹא־אָמְרוּlo-AM/rudo not sayהוֹן׃honenough

    The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

    שְׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolוְעֹצֶרve/O/tserand the barrenרָחַםRA/chamwombאֶרֶץE/retsthe earthלֹא־שָׂבְעָהlo-SAV/anot filled withמַּיִםMA/yimwaterוְאֵשׁve/ESHand fireלֹא־אָמְרָהlo-AM/radoes not sayהוֹן׃honenough

    The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

17. 17

    עַיִןA/yinthe eyeתִּלְעַגtil/AGthat mocksלְאָבle/AVat a fatherוְתָבֻזve/ta/VUZand despisesלִיקְּהַת־אֵםlik/ke/HAT-emobedience to a motherיִקְּרוּהָyik/ke/RU/hawill pick it outעֹרְבֵי־נַחַלor/VE-NA/chalthe ravens of the valleyוְיֹאכְלוּהָve/yo/khe/LU/haand will eat itבְנֵי־נָשֶׁר׃ve/NE-NA/sherthe young eagles

    The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

18. 18

    שְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeהֵמָּהHEM/maareנִפְלְאוּnif/le/Utoo wonderfulמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifor me(וארבע)vrav[וְאַרְבָּעָה]ve/ar/ba/Aand fourלֹאlonotיְדַעְתִּים׃ye/da/TIMI know them

    There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

    דֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofהַנֶּשֶׁרhan/NE/sherthe eagleבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofנָחָשׁna/CHASHthe serpentעֲלֵי־צוּרa/LE-tsuron a rockדֶּרֶךְ־אֳנִיָּהDE/rekh-o/niy/YAthe way of a shipבְלֶב־יָםve/LEV-yamin the heart of the seaוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the way ofגֶּבֶרGE/vera manבְּעַלְמָה׃be/al/MAwith a maiden

    The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

20. 20

    כֵּןkenso isדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanמְנָאָפֶתme/na/A/fetadulterousאָכְלָהa/khe/LAshe eatsוּמָחֲתָהu/MA/cha/taand wipesפִיהָFI/haher mouthוְאָמְרָהve/a/me/RAand saysלֹא־פָעַלְתִּיlo-fa/AL/tiI have done noאָוֶן׃A/venwrong

    Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

21. 21

    תַּחַתTA/chatunderשָׁלוֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeרָגְזָהRAG/zatremblesאֶרֶץE/retsthe earthוְתַחַתve/TA/chatand underאַרְבַּעar/BAfourלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALit cannotשְׂאֵת׃se/ETbear

    For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

22. 22

    תַּחַת־עֶבֶדTA/chat-E/vedunder a servantכִּיkiwhenיִמְלוֹךְyim/LOKHhe becomes kingוְנָבָלve/na/VALand a foolכִּיkiwhenיִשְׂבַּע־לָחֶם׃yis/BA-LA/chemhe is filled with bread

    For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

23. 23

    תַּחַתTA/chatunderשְׂנוּאָהse/nu/Aa hated womanכִּיkiwhenתִבָּעֵלtib/ba/ELshe is marriedוְשִׁפְחָהve/shif/CHAand a handmaidכִּי־תִירַשׁki-ti/RASHwhen she supplantsגְּבִרְתָּהּ׃ge/vir/TAher mistress

    For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

24. 24

    אַרְבָּעָהar/ba/Afourהֵםhemareקְטַנֵּי־אָרֶץke/tan/NE-A/retsthe small things of the earthוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/mabut they areחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMwiseמְחֻכָּמִים׃me/chuk/ka/MIMmade wise

    There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25. 25

    הַנְּמָלִיםhan/ne/ma/LIMthe antsעַםama peopleלֹא־עָזlo-aznot strongוַיָּכִינוּvay/ya/KHI/nuyet they prepareבַקַּיִץvak/KA/yitsin summerלַחְמָם׃lach/MAMtheir food

    The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26. 26

    שְׁפַנִּיםshe/fan/NIMthe rock badgersעַםama peopleלֹא־עָצוּםlo-a/TSUMnot mightyוַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muyet they makeבַסֶּלַעvas/SE/lain the rocksבֵּיתָם׃be/TAMtheir house

    The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27. 27

    מֶלֶךְME/lekha kingאֵיןenthere is noneלָאַרְבֶּהla/ar/BEfor the locustוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEyet go outחֹצֵץcho/TSETSin ranksכֻּלּוֹ׃kul/LOall of them

    The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28. 28

    שְׂמָמִיתse/ma/MITa lizardבְּיָדַיִםbe/ya/DA/yimwith its handsתְּתַפֵּשׂte/tap/PESgraspsוְהִיאve/HIyet it isבְּהֵיכְלֵיbe/HE/khe/lein the palaces ofמֶלֶךְ׃ME/lekha king

    The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

29. 29

    שְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeהֵמָּהHEM/maareמֵיטִיבֵיme/TI/vestately inצָעַדTSA/adstrideוְאַרְבָּעָהve/ar/ba/Aand fourמֵיטִבֵיme/TI/veare stately inלָכֶת׃LA/khetwalking

    There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

30. 30

    לַיִשׁLA/yishthe lionגִּבּוֹרgib/BORmightiestבַּבְּהֵמָהbab/be/he/MAamong the livestockוְלֹא־יָשׁוּבve/LO-ya/SHUVand does not turn backמִפְּנֵי־כֹל׃mip/pe/NE-kholbefore any

    A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

31. 31

    זַרְזִירzar/ZIRa greyhoundמׇתְנַיִםmot/NA/yimof the loinsאוֹ־תָיִשׁo-TA/yishor a male goatוּמֶלֶךְu/ME/lekhand a kingאַלְקוּםal/KUMagainst whom there is no rising upעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

32. 32

    אִם־נָבַלְתָּim-na/VAL/taif you have been foolishבְהִתְנַשֵּׂאve/hit/nas/SEin exalting yourselfוְאִם־זַמּוֹתָve/IM-zam/MO/taor if you have devised evilיָדyadhandלְפֶה׃le/FEto mouth

    If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

33. 33

    כִּיkiforמִיץmitsthe churning ofחָלָבcha/LAVmilkיוֹצִיאyo/TSIbrings outחֶמְאָהchem/Abutterוּמִיץ־אַףu/MITS-afand the wringing of the noseיוֹצִיאyo/TSIbrings outדָםdambloodוּמִיץu/MITSand the forcing ofאַפַּיִםap/PA/yimangerיוֹצִיאyo/TSIbrings outרִיב׃rivstrife

    Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
