   אִישׁisha man ofתּוֹכָחוֹתto/kha/CHOTreproofsמַקְשֶׁה־עֹרֶףmak/SHE-O/refwho hardens his neckפֶּתַעPE/tasuddenlyיִשָּׁבֵרyish/sha/VERwill be brokenוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמַרְפֵּא׃mar/PEhealing

   He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

   בִּרְבוֹתbir/VOTwhen increaseצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיִשְׂמַחyis/MACHrejoiceהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוּבִמְשֹׁלu/vim/SHOLbut when ruleרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedיֵאָנַחye/A/nachgroanעָם׃amthe people

   When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

   אִישׁ־אֹהֵבish-o/HEVa man who lovesחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomיְשַׂמַּחye/sam/MACHmakes gladאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְרֹעֶהve/ro/Ebut a companion ofזוֹנוֹתzo/NOTprostitutesיְאַבֶּד־הוֹן׃ye/ab/BED-honsquanders wealth

   Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

   מֶלֶךְME/lekha kingבְּמִשְׁפָּטbe/mish/PATby justiceיַעֲמִידya/a/MIDestablishesאָרֶץA/retsthe landוְאִישׁve/ISHbut a man ofתְּרוּמוֹתte/ru/MOTgiftsיֶהֶרְסֶנָּה׃ye/her/SEN/natears it down

   The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

   גֶּבֶרGE/vera manמַחֲלִיקma/cha/LIKwho flattersעַל־רֵעֵהוּal-re/E/huhis neighborרֶשֶׁתRE/sheta netפּוֹרֵשׂpo/RESspreadsעַל־פְּעָמָיו׃al-pe/a/MAYVfor his steps

   A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

   בְּפֶשַׁעbe/FE/shain the transgression ofאִישׁisha manרָעraevilמוֹקֵשׁmo/KESHis a snareוְצַדִּיקve/tsad/DIKbut the righteousיָרוּןya/RUNsingsוְשָׂמֵחַ׃ve/sa/ME/achand rejoices

   In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

   יֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousדִּיןdinthe cause ofדַּלִּיםdal/LIMthe poorרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedלֹא־יָבִיןlo-ya/VINdoes not understandדָּעַת׃DA/atknowledge

   The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

   אַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofלָצוֹןla/TSONscornיָפִיחוּya/FI/chuset aflameקִרְיָהkir/YAa cityוַחֲכָמִיםva/cha/kha/MIMbut the wiseיָשִׁיבוּya/SHI/vuturn awayאָף׃afwrath

   Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

   אִישׁ־חָכָםish-cha/KHAMa wise manנִשְׁפָּטnish/PATcontendsאֶת־אִישׁet-ishwith a manאֱוִילe/VILfoolishוְרָגַזve/ra/GAZand whether he ragesוְשָׂחַקve/sa/CHAKor laughsוְאֵיןve/ENthere is noנָחַת׃NA/chatquiet

   If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

10. 10

    אַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofדָמִיםda/MIMbloodיִשְׂנְאוּ־תָםyis/ne/U-tamhate the blamelessוִישָׁרִיםvi/sha/RIMand the uprightיְבַקְשׁוּye/vak/SHUseekנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOhis life

    The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

11. 11

    כׇּל־רוּחוֹkol-ru/CHOall his spiritיוֹצִיאyo/TSIbrings outכְסִילkhe/SILa foolוְחָכָםve/cha/KHAMbut a wise manבְּאָחוֹרbe/a/CHORbackיְשַׁבְּחֶנָּה׃ye/shab/be/CHEN/naholds it

    A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

12. 12

    מֹשֵׁלmo/SHELa rulerמַקְשִׁיבmak/SHIVwho listensעַל־דְּבַר־שָׁקֶרal-de/VAR-SHA/kerto a word of falsehoodכׇּל־מְשָׁרְתָיוkol-me/sha/re/TAYVall his servants areרְשָׁעִים׃re/sha/IMwicked

    If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

    רָשׁrashthe poorוְאִישׁve/ISHand the man ofתְּכָכִיםte/kha/KHIMoppressionנִפְגָּשׁוּnif/GA/shumeet togetherמֵאִיר־עֵינֵיME/ir-e/NEgives light to the eyes ofשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMbothיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

14. 14

    מֶלֶךְME/lekha kingשׁוֹפֵטsho/FETwho judgesבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METin truthדַּלִּיםdal/LIMthe poorכִּסְאוֹkis/Ohis throneלָעַדla/ADforeverיִכּוֹן׃yik/KONwill be established

    The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

15. 15

    שֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe rodוְתוֹכַחַתve/to/KHA/chatand reproofיִתֵּןyit/TENgiveחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְנַעַרve/NA/arbut a childמְשֻׁלָּחme/shul/LACHleft to himselfמֵבִישׁme/VISHbrings shame toאִמּוֹ׃im/MOhis mother

    The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

16. 16

    בִּרְבוֹתbir/VOTwhen increaseרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיִרְבֶּה־פָּשַׁעyir/BE-PA/shatransgression increasesוְצַדִּיקִיםve/tsad/di/KIMbut the righteousבְּמַפַּלְתָּםbe/map/pal/TAMon their downfallיִרְאוּ׃yir/Uwill look

    When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

17. 17

    יַסֵּרyas/SERdisciplineבִּנְךָbin/KHAyour sonוִינִיחֶךָvi/ni/CHE/khaand he will give you restוְיִתֵּןve/yit/TENand will giveמַעֲדַנִּיםma/a/dan/NIMdelightsלְנַפְשֶׁךָ׃le/naf/SHE/khato your soul

    Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18. 18

    בְּאֵיןbe/ENwhere there is noחָזוֹןcha/ZONvisionיִפָּרַעyip/PA/racast off restraintעָםamthe peopleוְשֹׁמֵרve/sho/MERbut he who keepsתּוֹרָהto/RAthe lawאַשְׁרֵהוּ׃ash/RE/hublessed is he

    Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

19. 19

    בִּדְבָרִיםbid/va/RIMby wordsלֹא־יִוָּסֶרlo-yiv/VA/serwill not be correctedעָבֶדA/veda servantכִּי־יָבִיןki-ya/VINfor though he understandsוְאֵיןve/ENthere is noמַעֲנֶה׃ma/a/NEresponse

    A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

20. 20

    חָזִיתָcha/ZI/tado you seeאִישׁisha manאָץatswho is hastyבִּדְבָרָיוbid/va/RAYVin his wordsתִּקְוָהtik/VAthere is more hopeלִכְסִילlikh/SILfor a foolמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan for him

    Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

21. 21

    מְפַנֵּקme/fan/NEKhe who pampersמִנֹּעַרmin/NO/arfrom youthעַבְדּוֹav/DOhis servantוְאַחֲרִיתוֹve/a/cha/ri/TOand at the endיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beמָנוֹן׃ma/NONhis son

    He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

22. 22

    אִישׁ־אַףish-afa man of angerיְגָרֶהye/ga/REstirs upמָדוֹןma/DONstrifeוּבַעַלu/VA/aland a master ofחֵמָהche/MAwrathרַב־פָּשַׁע׃rav-pa/SHAabounds in transgression

    An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

23. 23

    גַּאֲוַתga/a/VATthe pride ofאָדָםa/DAMa manתַּשְׁפִּילֶנּוּtash/pi/LEN/nuwill bring him lowוּשְׁפַל־רוּחַu/she/FAL-RU/achbut the lowly in spiritיִתְמֹךְyit/MOKHwill lay hold ofכָּבוֹד׃ka/VODhonor

    A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24. 24

    חוֹלֵקcho/LEKhe who sharesעִם־גַּנָּבim-gan/NAVwith a thiefשׂוֹנֵאso/NEhatesנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis own soulאָלָהa/LAthe oathיִשְׁמַעyish/MAhe hearsוְלֹאve/LObut does notיַגִּיד׃yag/GIDdisclose

    Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

25. 25

    חֶרְדַּתcher/DATthe fear ofאָדָםa/DAMmanיִתֵּןyit/TENlaysמוֹקֵשׁmo/KESHa snareוּבוֹטֵחַu/vo/TE/achbut he who trustsבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDיְשֻׂגָּב׃ye/sug/GAVwill be set on high

    The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

26. 26

    רַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמְבַקְשִׁיםme/vak/SHIMseekפְּנֵי־מוֹשֵׁלpe/NE-mo/SHELthe face of a rulerוּמֵיְהֹוָהu/mey/ho/VAbut from the LORDמִשְׁפַּט־אִישׁ׃mish/PAT-ishis a man's justice

    Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

27. 27

    תּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousאִישׁishis a man ofעָוֶלA/velinjusticeוְתוֹעֲבַתve/to/a/VATand an abomination toרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedיְשַׁר־דָּרֶךְ׃ye/SHAR-DA/rekhis the upright in way

    An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
