   אַל־תְּקַנֵּאal-te/kan/NEdo not envyבְּאַנְשֵׁיbe/an/SHEthe men ofרָעָהra/Aevilוְאַל־תִּתְאָוve/AL-tit/AVand do not desireלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beאִתָּם׃it/TAMwith them

   Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

   כִּי־שֹׁדki-shodfor violenceיֶהְגֶּהyeh/GEdevisesלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartsוְעָמָלve/a/MALand troubleשִׂפְתֵיהֶםsif/te/HEMtheir lipsתְּדַבֵּרְנָה׃te/dab/BER/naspeak

   For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

   בְּחׇכְמָהbe/chokh/MAby wisdomיִבָּנֶהyib/ba/NEis builtבָּיִתBA/yita houseוּבִתְבוּנָהu/vit/vu/NAand by understandingיִתְכּוֹנָן׃yit/ko/NANit is established

   Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

   וּבְדַעַתu/ve/DA/atand by knowledgeחֲדָרִיםcha/da/RIMthe roomsיִמָּלְאוּyim/ma/le/Uare filledכׇּל־הוֹןkol-honwith all wealthיָקָרya/KARpreciousוְנָעִים׃ve/na/IMand pleasant

   And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

   גֶּבֶר־חָכָםGE/ver-cha/KHAMa wise manבַּעוֹזba/OZis strongוְאִישׁ־דַּעַתve/ISH-DA/atand a man of knowledgeמְאַמֶּץ־כֹּחַ׃me/am/METS-KO/achincreases strength

   A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

   כִּיkiforבְתַחְבֻּלוֹתve/tach/bu/LOTby wise guidanceתַּעֲשֶׂה־לְּךָta/a/SE-le/KHAyou will wage for yourselfמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarוּתְשׁוּעָהu/te/shu/Aand deliveranceבְּרֹבbe/ROVin the multitude ofיוֹעֵץ׃yo/ETScounselors

   For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

   רָאמוֹתra/MOTis too highלֶאֱוִילle/e/VILfor a foolחׇכְמוֹתchokh/MOTwisdomבַּשַּׁעַרbash/SHA/arin the gateלֹאlonotיִפְתַּח־פִּיהוּ׃yif/TACH-PI/huhe opens his mouth

   Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

   מְחַשֵּׁבme/chash/SHEVhe who plansלְהָרֵעַle/ha/RE/ato do evilלוֹlohimבַּעַל־מְזִמּוֹתBA/al-me/zim/MOTa master of schemesיִקְרָאוּ׃yik/RA/uthey will call

   He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

   זִמַּתzim/MATthe scheming ofאִוֶּלֶתiv/VE/letfollyחַטָּאתchat/TATis sinוְתוֹעֲבַתve/to/a/VATand an abominationלְאָדָםle/a/DAMto menלֵץ׃letsis the scoffer

   The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

    הִתְרַפִּיתָhit/rap/pi/TAif you faintבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofצָרָהtsa/RAadversityצַרtsaris smallכֹּחֶכָה׃ko/CHE/khayour strength

    If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

11. 11

    הַצֵּלhats/TSELdeliverלְקֻחִיםle/ku/CHIMthose being takenלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathוּמָטִיםu/ma/TIMand those who staggerלַהֶרֶגla/HE/regto the slaughterאִם־תַּחְשׂוֹךְ׃im-tach/SOKHif you hold back

    If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

    כִּי־תֹאמַרki-to/MARif you sayהֵןhenbeholdלֹא־יָדַעְנוּlo-ya/DA/nuwe did not knowזֶהzethisהֲלֹא־תֹכֵןha/LO-to/KHENdoes not He who weighsלִבּוֹתlib/BOTthe heartsהוּא־יָבִיןhu-ya/VINHe consider itוְנֹצֵרve/no/TSERand He who keepsנַפְשְׁךָnaf/she/KHAyour soulהוּאhuHeיֵדָעye/DAknow itוְהֵשִׁיבve/he/SHIVand He will repayלְאָדָםle/a/DAMto manכְּפׇעֳלוֹ׃ke/fo/o/LOaccording to his work

    If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

13. 13

    אֱכׇל־בְּנִיe/KHOL-be/NIeat my sonדְבַשׁde/VASHhoneyכִּי־טוֹבki-tovfor it is goodוְנֹפֶתve/NO/fetand the honeycombמָתוֹקma/TOKis sweetעַל־חִכֶּךָ׃al-chik/KE/khato your taste

    My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14. 14

    כֵּןkensoדְּעֶהde/Eknowחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomלְנַפְשֶׁךָle/naf/SHE/khafor your soulאִם־מָצָאתָim-ma/TSA/taif you find itוְיֵשׁve/YESHthen there will beאַחֲרִיתa/cha/RITa futureוְתִקְוָתְךָve/tik/va/te/KHAand your hopeלֹאlonotתִכָּרֵת׃tik/ka/RETbe cut off

    So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

15. 15

    אַל־תֶּאֱרֹבal-te/e/ROVdo not lie in waitרָשָׁעra/SHAO wicked manלִנְוֵהlin/VEagainst the dwelling ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousאַל־תְּשַׁדֵּדal-te/shad/DEDdo not destroyרִבְצוֹ׃riv/TSOhis resting place

    Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

16. 16

    כִּיkiforשֶׁבַעSHE/vaseven timesיִפּוֹלyip/POLfallsצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוָקָםva/KAMand rises againוּרְשָׁעִיםu/re/sha/IMand the wickedיִכָּשְׁלוּyik/ka/she/LUstumbleבְרָעָה׃ve/ra/Ain calamity

    For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17. 17

    בִּנְפֹלbin/FOLwhen falls(אויביך)vayavayakh[אוֹיִבְךָ]o/yiv/KHAyour enemyאַל־תִּשְׂמָחal-tis/MACHdo not rejoiceוּבִכָּשְׁלוֹu/vik/ka/she/LOand when he stumblesאַל־יָגֵלal-ya/GELlet not be gladלִבֶּךָ׃lib/BE/khayour heart

    Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18. 18

    פֶּן־יִרְאֶהpen-yir/Elest seeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְרַעve/RAand it be evilבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin His eyesוְהֵשִׁיבve/he/SHIVand He turn awayמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himאַפּוֹ׃ap/POHis wrath

    Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

19. 19

    אַל־תִּתְחַרal-tit/CHARdo not fretבַּמְּרֵעִיםbam/me/re/IMbecause of evildoersאַל־תְּקַנֵּאal-te/kan/NEdo not envyבָּרְשָׁעִים׃ba/re/sha/IMthe wicked

    Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;

20. 20

    כִּיkiforלֹא־תִהְיֶהlo-tih/YEthere shall be noאַחֲרִיתa/cha/RITfutureלָרָעla/RAfor the evilנֵרnerthe lamp ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיִדְעָךְ׃yid/AKHwill be put out

    For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

21. 21

    יְרָא־אֶת־יְהֹוָהye/RA-et-Adonaifear the LORDבְּנִיbe/NImy sonוָמֶלֶךְva/ME/lekhand the kingעִם־שׁוֹנִיםim-sho/NIMwith those given to changeאַל־תִּתְעָרָב׃al-tit/a/RAVdo not associate

    My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

22. 22

    כִּי־פִתְאֹםki-fit/OMfor suddenlyיָקוּםya/KUMwill riseאֵידָםe/DAMtheir disasterוּפִידu/FIDand the ruin ofשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMof them bothמִיmiwhoיוֹדֵעַ׃yo/DE/aknows

    For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

23. 23

    גַּם־אֵלֶּהgam-EL/lethese alsoלַחֲכָמִיםla/cha/kha/MIMare of the wiseהַכֵּר־פָּנִיםhak/KER-pa/NIMto show partialityבְּמִשְׁפָּטbe/mish/PATin judgmentבַּל־טוֹב׃bal-tovis not good

    These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

24. 24

    אֹמֵרo/MERhe who saysלְרָשָׁעle/ra/SHAto the wickedצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousאָתָּהAT/tayou areיִקְּבֻהוּyik/ke/VU/huwill curse himעַמִּיםam/MIMpeoplesיִזְעָמוּהוּyiz/a/MU/huwill abhor himלְאֻמִּים׃le/um/MIMnations

    He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

25. 25

    וְלַמּוֹכִיחִיםve/lam/mo/khi/CHIMbut to those who rebukeיִנְעָםyin/AMit will be delightfulוַעֲלֵיהֶםva/a/le/HEMand upon themתָּבוֹאta/VOwill comeבִרְכַּת־טוֹב׃vir/KAT-tova good blessing

    But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

26. 26

    שְׂפָתַיִםse/fa/TA/yimlipsיִשָּׁקyish/SHAKhe kissesמֵשִׁיבme/SHIVwho givesדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMwordsנְכֹחִים׃ne/kho/CHIMright

    Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

27. 27

    הָכֵןha/KHENprepareבַּחוּץba/CHUTSoutsideמְלַאכְתֶּךָme/lakh/TE/khayour workוְעַתְּדָהּve/at/te/DAand make it readyבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldלָךְlakhfor yourselfאַחַרa/CHARafterwardוּבָנִיתָu/va/NI/tabuildבֵיתֶךָ׃ve/TE/khayour house

    Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

28. 28

    אַל־תְּהִיal-te/HIdo not beעֵד־חִנָּםed-chin/NAMa witness without causeבְּרֵעֶךָbe/re/E/khaagainst your neighborוַהֲפִתִּיתָva/ha/fit/TI/taand would you deceiveבִּשְׂפָתֶיךָ׃bis/fa/TE/khawith your lips

    Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

29. 29

    אַל־תֹּאמַרal-to/MARdo not sayכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשָׂה־לִיa/SA-lihe has done to meכֵּןkensoאֶעֱשֶׂה־לּוֹe/e/SE-loI will do to himאָשִׁיבa/SHIVI will renderלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manכְּפׇעֳלוֹ׃ke/fo/o/LOaccording to his work

    Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

30. 30

    עַל־שְׂדֵהal-se/DEby the field ofאִישׁ־עָצֵלish-a/TSELa sluggardעָבַרְתִּיa/VAR/tiI went byוְעַל־כֶּרֶםve/AL-KE/remand by the vineyard ofאָדָםa/DAMa manחֲסַר־לֵב׃cha/SAR-levlacking sense

    I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31. 31

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdעָלָהa/LAhad grown upכֻלּוֹkhul/LOall of itקִמְּשֹׂנִיםkim/me/so/NIMthornsכׇּסּוּkos/SUcoveredפָנָיוfa/NAYVits faceחֲרֻלִּיםcha/rul/LIMnettlesוְגֶדֶרve/GE/derand the wall ofאֲבָנָיוa/va/NAYVits stonesנֶהֱרָסָה׃ne/he/RA/sawas broken down

    And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32. 32

    וָאֶחֱזֶהva/e/che/ZEthen I sawאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאָשִׁיתa/SHITI consideredלִבִּיlib/BImy heartרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI lookedלָקַחְתִּיla/KACH/tiI receivedמוּסָר׃mu/SARinstruction

    Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

33. 33

    מְעַטme/ATa littleשֵׁנוֹתshe/NOTsleepמְעַטme/ATa littleתְּנוּמוֹתte/nu/MOTslumberמְעַטme/ATa littleחִבֻּקchib/BUKfolding ofיָדַיִםya/DA/yimthe handsלִשְׁכָּב׃lish/KAVto sleep

    Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34. 34

    וּבָא־מִתְהַלֵּךְu/VA-mit/hal/LEKHand will come like a prowlerרֵישֶׁךָre/SHE/khayour povertyוּמַחְסֹרֶיךָu/mach/so/RE/khaand your lackכְּאִישׁke/ISHlike a manמָגֵן׃ma/GENarmed

    So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
