   וַתִּשָּׂאvat/tis/SAand lifted upכׇּל־הָעֵדָהkol-ha/e/DAall the congregationוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they gaveאֶת־קוֹלָםet-ko/LAMtheir voicesוַיִּבְכּוּvay/yiv/KUand weptהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

   And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

   וַיִּלֹּנוּvay/yil/LO/nuand they murmuredעַל־מֹשֶׁהal-Mo/SHEagainst Mosesוְעַל־אַהֲרֹןve/AL-a/ha/RONand against Aaronכֹּלkolallבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themכׇּל־הָעֵדָהkol-ha/e/DAall the congregationלוּ־מַתְנוּlu-MAT/nuwould that we had diedבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptאוֹoorבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלוּ־מָתְנוּ׃lu-MAT/nuwould that we had died

   And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

   וְלָמָהve/la/MAand whyיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵבִיאme/VIis bringingאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלִנְפֹּלlin/POLto fallבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revby the swordנָשֵׁינוּna/SHE/nuour wivesוְטַפֵּנוּve/tap/PE/nuand our little onesיִהְיוּyih/YUwill beלָבַזla/VAZa preyהֲלוֹאha/LOwould it not beטוֹבtovbetterלָנוּLA/nufor usשׁוּבshuvto returnמִצְרָיְמָה׃Mits/RAY/mato Egypt

   And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִישׁisheachאֶל־אָחִיוel-a/CHIVto his brotherנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAlet us makeרֹאשׁrosha headוְנָשׁוּבָהve/na/SHU/vaand let us returnמִצְרָיְמָה׃Mits/RAY/mato Egypt

   And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

   וַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronעַל־פְּנֵיהֶםal-pe/ne/HEMupon their facesלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeכׇּל־קְהַלkol-ke/HALall the assembly ofעֲדַתa/DATthe congregation ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

   וִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Joshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunson of Nunוְכָלֵבve/Kha/LEVand Calebבֶּן־יְפֻנֶּהben-Ye/fun/NEson of Jephunnehמִן־הַתָּרִיםmin-hat/ta/RIMof those who spied outאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landקָרְעוּka/re/Uthey toreבִּגְדֵיהֶם׃big/de/HEMtheir garments

   And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֶל־כׇּל־עֲדַתel-kol-a/DATto all the congregation ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָבַרְנוּa/VAR/nuwe have goneבָהּvathroughלָתוּרla/TURto spy outאֹתָהּo/TAitטוֹבָהto/VAis goodהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

   And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8. 8

   אִם־חָפֵץim-cha/FETSif delightsבָּנוּBA/nuin usיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְהֵבִיאve/he/VIthen He will bringאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוּנְתָנָהּu/ne/ta/NAand give itלָנוּLA/nuto usאֶרֶץE/retsa landאֲשֶׁר־הִואa/SHER-hivwhichזָבַתza/VATflowing withחָלָבcha/LAVmilkוּדְבָשׁ׃u/de/VASHand honey

   If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

   אַךְakhonlyבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiagainst the LORDאַל־תִּמְרֹדוּal-tim/RO/dudo not rebelוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youאַל־תִּירְאוּal-ti/re/Ufear notאֶת־עַםet-amthe people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landכִּיkiforלַחְמֵנוּlach/ME/nuour breadהֵםhemthey areסָרsarhas departedצִלָּםtsil/LAMtheir shadeמֵעֲלֵיהֶםme/a/le/HEMfrom themוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuis with usאַל־תִּירָאֻם׃al-ti/ra/UMdo not fear them

   Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidכׇּל־הָעֵדָהkol-ha/e/DAall the congregationלִרְגּוֹםlir/GOMto stoneאֹתָםo/TAMthemבָּאֲבָנִיםba/a/va/NIMwith stonesוּכְבוֹדu/khe/VODand the glory ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedבְּאֹהֶלbe/O/helin the tent ofמוֹעֵדmo/EDmeetingאֶל־כׇּל־בְּנֵיel-kol-be/NEto all the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesעַד־אָנָהad-A/nahow longיְנַאֲצֻנִיye/na/a/TSU/niwill despise meהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְעַד־אָנָהve/AD-A/naand how longלֹא־יַאֲמִינוּlo-ya/a/MI/nuwill they not believeבִיviin meבְּכֹלbe/KHOLfor allהָאֹתוֹתha/o/TOTthe signsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneבְּקִרְבּוֹ׃be/kir/BOamong them

    And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

12. 12

    אַכֶּנּוּak/KEN/nuI will strike themבַדֶּבֶרvad/DE/verwith pestilenceוְאוֹרִשֶׁנּוּve/o/ri/SHEN/nuand disinherit themוְאֶעֱשֶׂהve/e/e/SEand will makeאֹתְךָot/KHAyouלְגוֹי־גָּדוֹלle/GOY-ga/DOLinto a nation greaterוְעָצוּםve/a/TSUMand mightierמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan they

    I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוְשָׁמְעוּve/sha/me/Uthen will hearמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptכִּי־הֶעֱלִיתָki-he/e/LI/tafor you brought upבְכֹחֲךָve/kho/cha/KHAby your mightאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמִקִּרְבּוֹ׃mik/kir/BOfrom among them

    And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

14. 14

    וְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand they will tell itאֶל־יוֹשֵׁבel-yo/SHEVto the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey have heardכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAthat youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revare amongהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁר־עַיִןa/SHER-A/yinthat eyeבְּעַיִןbe/A/yinto eyeנִרְאָהnir/Aare seenאַתָּהat/TAyouיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַעֲנָנְךָva/a/na/ne/KHAand your cloudעֹמֵדo/MEDstandsעֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMover themוּבְעַמֻּדu/ve/am/MUDand in a pillar ofעָנָןa/NANcloudאַתָּהat/TAyouהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themיוֹמָםyo/MAMby dayוּבְעַמּוּדu/ve/am/MUDand in a pillar ofאֵשׁeshfireלָיְלָה׃LAY/laby night

    And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

15. 15

    וְהֵמַתָּהve/he/mat/TAnow if you killאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכְּאִישׁke/ISHas manאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUthen will speakהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsאֲשֶׁר־שָׁמְעוּa/SHER-sha/me/Uthat have heardאֶת־שִׁמְעֲךָet-shim/a/KHAyour fameלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,

16. 16

    מִבִּלְתִּיmib/bil/TIbecause notיְכֹלֶתye/KHO/letable wasיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landאֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּעa/SHER-nish/BAwhich He sworeלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיִּשְׁחָטֵםvay/yish/cha/TEMtherefore He has slain themבַּמִּדְבָּר׃bam/mid/BARin the wilderness

    Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.

17. 17

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיִגְדַּל־נָאyig/DAL-nalet be great I prayכֹּחַKO/achthe power ofאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYLordכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou have spokenלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

18. 18

    יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶרֶךְE/rekhslow toאַפַּיִםap/PA/yimangerוְרַב־חֶסֶדve/RAV-CHE/sedand abundant in mercyנֹשֵׂאno/SEforgivingעָוֺןa/VONiniquityוָפָשַׁעva/FA/shaand transgressionוְנַקֵּהve/nak/KEand clearלֹאlonotיְנַקֶּהye/nak/KEwill He clearפֹּקֵדpo/KEDvisitingעֲוֺןa/VONthe iniquity ofאָבוֹתa/VOTthe fathersעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMupon the childrenעַל־שִׁלֵּשִׁיםal-shil/le/SHIMupon the third generationוְעַל־רִבֵּעִים׃ve/AL-rib/be/IMand upon the fourth

    The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

19. 19

    סְלַח־נָאse/LACH-napardon I prayלַעֲוֺןla/a/VONthe iniquity ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכְּגֹדֶלke/GO/delaccording to the greatness ofחַסְדֶּךָchas/DE/khayour mercyוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asנָשָׂאתָהna/SA/tayou have forgivenלָעָםla/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimfrom Egyptוְעַד־הֵנָּה׃ve/AD-HEN/naeven until now

    Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDסָלַחְתִּיsa/LACH/tiI have pardonedכִּדְבָרֶךָ׃kid/va/RE/khaaccording to your word

    And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

21. 21

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbut trulyחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveוְיִמָּלֵאve/yim/ma/LEand shall be filled withכְבוֹד־יְהֹוָהkhe/VOD-Adonaithe glory of the LORDאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃et-kol-ha/A/retsall the earth

    But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

22. 22

    כִּיkibecauseכׇל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםkhol-ha/a/na/SHIMall the menהָרֹאִיםha/ro/IMwho have seenאֶת־כְּבֹדִיet-ke/vo/DImy gloryוְאֶת־אֹתֹתַיve/ET-o/to/TAYand my signsאֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִיa/SHER-a/SI/tiwhich I didבְמִצְרַיִםve/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptוּבַמִּדְבָּרu/vam/mid/BARand in the wildernessוַיְנַסּוּvay/nas/SUand have testedאֹתִיo/TImeזֶהzenowעֶשֶׂרE/sertenפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uhave hearkenedבְּקוֹלִי׃be/ko/LIto my voice

    Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

23. 23

    אִם־יִרְאוּim-yir/Uthey shall not seeאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיnish/BA/tiI sworeלַאֲבֹתָםla/a/vo/TAMto their fathersוְכׇל־מְנַאֲצַיve/KHOL-me/na/a/TSAYand all who despised meלֹאlonotיִרְאוּהָ׃yir/U/hashall see it

    Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

24. 24

    וְעַבְדִּיve/av/DIand my servantכָלֵבKha/LEVCalebעֵקֶבE/kevbecauseהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasרוּחַRU/acha spiritאַחֶרֶתa/CHE/retotherעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוַיְמַלֵּאvay/mal/LEand he has fully followedאַחֲרָיa/cha/RAYafter meוַהֲבִיאֹתִיוva/ha/vi/o/TIVhim will I bringאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landאֲשֶׁר־בָּאa/SHER-bainto which he wentשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereוְזַרְעוֹve/zar/Oand his seedיוֹרִשֶׁנָּה׃yo/ri/SHEN/nashall possess it

    But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

25. 25

    וְהָעֲמָלֵקִיve/Ha/a/ma/le/KIand the Amalekiteוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיve/hak/Ke/na/a/NIand the Canaaniteיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdwellבָּעֵמֶקba/E/mekin the valleyמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowפְּנוּpe/NUturnוּסְעוּu/se/Uand set outלָכֶםla/KHEMyouהַמִּדְבָּרham/mid/BARinto the wildernessדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby the way ofיַם־סוּף׃yam-Sufthe Red Sea

    (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

26. 26

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesוְאֶל־אַהֲרֹןve/EL-a/ha/RONand to Aaronלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

27. 27

    עַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longלָעֵדָהla/e/DAwith the congregationהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵמָּהHEM/matheyמַלִּינִיםmal/li/NIMmurmurעָלָיa/LAYagainst meאֶת־תְּלֻנּוֹתet-te/lun/NOTthe murmurings ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵמָּהHEM/matheyמַלִּינִיםmal/li/NIMmurmurעָלַיa/LAYagainst meשָׁמָעְתִּי׃sha/MA/tiI have heard

    How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

28. 28

    אֱמֹרe/MORsayאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDאִם־לֹאim-losurelyכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתֶּםdib/bar/TEMyou have spokenבְּאׇזְנָיbe/oz/NAYin my earsכֵּןkensoאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEwill I doלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

29. 29

    בַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUshall fallפִגְרֵיכֶםfig/re/KHEMyour carcassesוְכׇל־פְּקֻדֵיכֶםve/KHOL-pe/ku/de/KHEMand all who were numbered of youלְכׇל־מִסְפַּרְכֶםle/KHOL-mis/par/KHEMaccording to your whole numberמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמָעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֲלִינֹתֶםha/li/no/TEMhave murmuredעָלָי׃a/LAYagainst me

    Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,

30. 30

    אִם־אַתֶּםim-at/TEMyou shall notתָּבֹאוּta/VO/ucomeאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsinto the landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERconcerning whichנָשָׂאתִיna/SA/tiI lifted upאֶת־יָדִיet-ya/DImy handלְשַׁכֵּןle/shak/KENto make dwellאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבָּהּbain itכִּיkiexceptאִם־כָּלֵבIm-ka/LEVCalebבֶּן־יְפֻנֶּהben-Ye/fun/NEson of JephunnehוִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Joshuaבִּן־נוּן׃bin-Nunson of Nun

    Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31. 31

    וְטַפְּכֶםve/tap/pe/KHEMbut your little onesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֲמַרְתֶּםa/mar/TEMyou saidלָבַזla/VAZa preyיִהְיֶהyih/YEwould beוְהֵבֵיאתִיve/he/ve/TIand I will bringאֹתָםo/TAMthemוְיָדְעוּve/ya/de/Uand they shall knowאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמְאַסְתֶּםme/as/TEMyou have despisedבָּהּ׃bait

    But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

32. 32

    וּפִגְרֵיכֶםu/fig/re/KHEMbut your carcassesאַתֶּםat/TEMof youיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUshall fallבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.

33. 33

    וּבְנֵיכֶםu/ve/ne/KHEMand your sonsיִהְיוּyih/YUshall beרֹעִיםro/IMshepherdsבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsוְנָשְׂאוּve/na/se/Uand shall bearאֶת־זְנוּתֵיכֶםet-ze/nu/te/KHEMyour whoredomsעַד־תֹּםad-tomuntil are consumedפִּגְרֵיכֶםpig/re/KHEMyour carcassesבַּמִּדְבָּר׃bam/mid/BARin the wilderness

    And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

    בְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARafter the number ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysאֲשֶׁר־תַּרְתֶּםa/SHER-tar/TEMin which you spied outאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysיוֹםyoma dayלַשָּׁנָהlash/sha/NAfor a yearיוֹםyoma dayלַשָּׁנָהlash/sha/NAfor a yearתִּשְׂאוּtis/Uyou shall bearאֶת־עֲוֺנֹתֵיכֶםet-a/vo/no/te/KHEMyour iniquitiesאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowאֶת־תְּנוּאָתִי׃et-te/nu/a/TImy opposition

    After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

35. 35

    אֲנִיa/NII amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI have spokenאִם־לֹאim-losurelyזֹאתzotthisאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI will doלְכׇל־הָעֵדָהle/KHOL-ha/e/DAto all the congregationהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisהַנּוֹעָדִיםhan/no/a/DIMwho are gathered togetherעָלָיa/LAYagainst meבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיִתַּמּוּyit/TAM/mushall they be consumedוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereיָמֻתוּ׃ya/MU/tuthey shall die

    I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

36. 36

    וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַחa/SHER-sha/LACHwhom sentמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלָתוּרla/TURto spy outאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landוַיָּשֻׁבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuwho returned(וילונו)vayalavanav[וַיַּלִּינוּ]vay/yal/LI/nuand made murmurעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֵדָהet-kol-ha/e/DAall the congregationלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIby bringing upדִבָּהdib/BAan evil reportעַל־הָאָרֶץ׃al-ha/A/retsagainst the land

    And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

37. 37

    וַיָּמֻתוּvay/ya/MU/tuand diedהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menמוֹצִאֵיmo/tsi/Ewho brought upדִבַּת־הָאָרֶץdib/BAT-ha/A/retsthe report of the landרָעָהra/Aevilבַּמַּגֵּפָהbam/mag/ge/FAby the plagueלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

38. 38

    וִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Joshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunson of Nunוְכָלֵבve/Kha/LEVand Calebבֶּן־יְפֻנֶּהben-Ye/fun/NEson of Jephunnehחָיוּcha/YUlivedמִן־הָאֲנָשִׁיםmin-ha/a/na/SHIMof the menהָהֵםha/HEMthoseהַהֹלְכִיםha/hol/KHIMwho wentלָתוּרla/TURto spy outאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃et-ha/A/retsthe land

    But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

39. 39

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֶל־כׇּל־בְּנֵיel-kol-be/NEto all the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיִּתְאַבְּלוּvay/yit/ab/be/LUand mournedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמְאֹד׃me/ODgreatly

    And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.

40. 40

    וַיַּשְׁכִּמוּvay/yash/KI/muand they rose earlyבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upאֶל־רֹאשׁ־הָהָרel-rosh-ha/HARto the top of the mountainלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֶּנּוּhin/NEN/nuhere we areוְעָלִינוּve/a/LI/nuand will go upאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMto the placeאֲשֶׁר־אָמַרa/SHER-a/MARwhich saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkiforחָטָאנוּ׃cha/TA/nuwe have sinned

    And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned.

41. 41

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלָמָּהLAM/mawhyזֶּהzenowאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areעֹבְרִיםov/RIMtransgressאֶת־פִּיet-pithe word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְהִואve/HIVbut itלֹאlonotתִצְלָח׃tits/LACHshall succeed

    And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper.

42. 42

    אַל־תַּעֲלוּal-ta/a/LUdo not go upכִּיkiforאֵיןenthere is noיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youוְלֹאve/LOthat notתִּנָּגְפוּtin/na/ge/FUyou be struck downלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֹיְבֵיכֶם׃oy/ve/KHEMyour enemies

    Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.

43. 43

    כִּיkibecauseהָעֲמָלֵקִיha/A/ma/le/KIthe Amalekiteוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיve/hak/Ke/na/a/NIand the Canaaniteשָׁםshamare thereלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youוּנְפַלְתֶּםu/ne/fal/TEMand you will fallבֶּחָרֶבbe/CHA/revby the swordכִּי־עַל־כֵּןki-al-kenbecauseשַׁבְתֶּםshav/TEMyou have turned backמֵאַחֲרֵיme/a/cha/REfrom followingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהve/LO-yih/YEand will not beיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִמָּכֶם׃im/ma/KHEMwith you

    For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

44. 44

    וַיַּעְפִּלוּvay/ya/PI/lubut they presumedלַעֲלוֹתla/a/LOTto go upאֶל־רֹאשׁel-roshto the top ofהָהָרha/HARthe mountainוַאֲרוֹןva/a/RONand the ark ofבְּרִית־יְהֹוָהbe/RIT-Adonaithe covenant of the LORDוּמֹשֶׁהu/Mo/SHEand Mosesלֹא־מָשׁוּlo-MA/shudeparted notמִקֶּרֶבmik/KE/revfrom the midst ofהַמַּחֲנֶה׃ham/ma/cha/NEthe camp

    But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

45. 45

    וַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redthen came downהָעֲמָלֵקִיha/A/ma/le/KIthe Amalekiteוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיve/hak/Ke/na/a/NIand the Canaaniteהַיֹּשֵׁבhay/yo/SHEVwho dweltבָּהָרba/HARin the hill countryהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand struck themוַיַּכְּתוּםvay/yak/ke/TUMand they beat them downעַד־הַחׇרְמָה׃ad-Ha/chor/MAas far as Hormah

    Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.
