   Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.

   And next unto him builded the men of Jericho. And next to them builded Zaccur the son of Imri.

   וְאֵתve/ETandשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMthe fishבָּנוּBA/nubuiltבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofהַסְּנָאָהHas/se/na/AHassenaahהֵמָּהHEM/matheyקֵרוּהוּke/RU/hulaid its beamsוַיַּעֲמִידוּvay/ya/a/MI/duand set upדַּלְתֹתָיוdal/to/TAYVits doorsמַנְעוּלָיוman/u/LAYVits boltsוּבְרִיחָיו׃u/ve/ri/CHAYVand its bars

   But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

   And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.

   וְעַל־יָדָםve/AL-ya/DAMand next to themהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kurepairedהַתְּקוֹעִיםhat/Te/ko/IMthe Tekoitesוְאַדִּירֵיהֶםve/ad/di/re/HEMand their noblesלֹא־הֵבִיאוּlo-he/VI/udid not putצַוָּרָםtsav/va/RAMtheir necksבַּעֲבֹדַתba/a/vo/DATto the work ofאֲדֹנֵיהֶם׃a/do/ne/HEMtheir lords

   And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.

   Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

   And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.

   Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.

   And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.

    וְעַל־יָדָםve/AL-ya/DAMand next to themהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedיְדָיָהYe/da/YAJedaiahבֶן־חֲרוּמַףven-Cha/ru/MAFthe son of Harumaphוְנֶגֶדve/NE/gedeven oppositeבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseוְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand next to himהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedחַטּוּשׁChat/TUSHHattushבֶּן־חֲשַׁבְנְיָה׃ben-Cha/shav/ne/YAthe son of Hashabniah

    And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even over against his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.

    מִדָּהmid/DAanother sectionשֵׁנִיתshe/NITsecondהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedמַלְכִּיָּהMal/kiy/YAMalchijahבֶן־חָרִםven-Cha/RIMthe son of Harimוְחַשּׁוּבve/Chash/SHUVand Hashshubבֶּן־פַּחַתben-Pa/CHATthe son of Pahath-מוֹאָבmo/AVmoabוְאֵתve/ETandמִגְדַּלmig/DALthe tower ofהַתַּנּוּרִים׃hat/tan/nu/RIMthe ovens

    Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-moab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.

    וְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand next to himהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedשַׁלּוּםShal/LUMShallumבֶּן־הַלּוֹחֵשׁben-Hal/lo/CHESHthe son of Halloheshשַׂרsarthe ruler ofחֲצִיcha/TSIhalfפֶּלֶךְPE/lekhthe district ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemהוּאhuheוּבְנוֹתָיו׃u/ve/no/TAYVand his daughters

    And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

    אֵת־שַׁעַרet-SHA/arthe gate ofהַגַּיְאhag/GAYthe valleyהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedחָנוּןCha/NUNHanunוְיֹשְׁבֵיve/yosh/VEand the inhabitants ofזָנוֹחַZa/NO/achZanoahהֵמָּהHEM/matheyבָנוּהוּva/NU/hubuilt itוַיַּעֲמִידוּvay/ya/a/MI/duand set upדַּלְתֹתָיוdal/to/TAYVits doorsמַנְעֻלָיוman/u/LAYVits boltsוּבְרִיחָיוu/ve/ri/CHAYVand its barsוְאֶלֶףve/E/lefand a thousandאַמָּהam/MAcubitsבַּחוֹמָהba/cho/MAof the wallעַדadas far asשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהָשְׁפוֹת׃ha/she/FOTthe dung

    The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.

    But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth-haccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

    But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.

    After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.

    אַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kurepairedהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe LevitesרְחוּםRe/CHUMRehumבֶּן־בָּנִיben-Ba/NIthe son of Baniעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOnext to himהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedחֲשַׁבְיָהCha/shav/YAHashabiahשַׂר־חֲצִי־פֶלֶךְsar-cha/TSI-FE/lekhthe ruler of half the district ofקְעִילָהKe/i/LAKeilahלְפִלְכּוֹ׃le/fil/KOfor his district

    After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.

    אַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kurepairedאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brothersבַּוַּיBav/VAYBavvaiבֶּן־חֵנָדָדben-Che/na/DADthe son of Henadadשַׂרsarthe ruler ofחֲצִיcha/TSIhalfפֶּלֶךְPE/lekhthe district ofקְעִילָה׃Ke/i/LAKeilah

    After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.

19. 19

    וַיְחַזֵּקvay/chaz/ZEKand repairedעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOnext to himעֵזֶרE/zerEzerבֶּן־יֵשׁוּעַben-Ye/SHU/athe son of Jeshuaשַׂרsarthe ruler ofהַמִּצְפָּהHam/mits/PAMizpahמִדָּהmid/DAanother sectionשֵׁנִיתshe/NITsecondמִנֶּגֶדmin/NE/gedoppositeעֲלֹתa/LOTthe ascent toהַנֶּשֶׁקhan/NE/shekthe armoryהַמִּקְצֹעַ׃ham/mik/TSO/aat the angle

    And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.

    אַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himהֶחֱרָהhe/che/RAearnestlyהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKrepairedבָּרוּךְBa/RUKHBaruchבֶּן־[זַכַּי]ben-Zak/KAYthe son of Zaccai(זבי)zavayמִדָּהmid/DAanother sectionשֵׁנִיתshe/NITsecondמִן־הַמִּקְצוֹעַmin-ham/mik/TSO/afrom the angleעַד־פֶּתַחad-PE/tachto the door ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofאֶלְיָשִׁיבEl/ya/SHIVEliashibהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹל׃hag/ga/DOLthe great

    After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

    After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.

    וְאַחֲרָיוve/a/cha/RAYVand after himהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kurepairedהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַכִּכָּר׃hak/kik/KARthe plain

    And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.

    After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.

    After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.

    Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.

    וְהַנְּתִינִיםve/han/ne/ti/NIMand the temple servantsהָיוּha/YUwereיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMdwellingבָּעֹפֶלba/O/felon Ophelעַדadas far asנֶגֶדNE/gedoppositeשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterלַמִּזְרָחlam/miz/RACHtoward the eastוְהַמִּגְדָּלve/ham/mig/DALand the towerהַיּוֹצֵא׃hay/yo/TSEthat projects

    Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out.

    After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel.

    From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.

    After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.

    After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.

32. 32

    וּבֵיןu/VENand betweenעֲלִיַּתa/liy/YATthe upper room ofהַפִּנָּהhap/pin/NAthe cornerלְשַׁעַרle/SHA/arto the gate ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe sheepהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kurepairedהַצֹּרְפִיםhats/tsor/FIMthe goldsmithsוְהָרֹכְלִים׃ve/ha/rokh/LIMand the merchants

    And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

33. 33

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasשָׁמַעsha/MAheardסַנְבַלַּטSan/val/LATSanballatכִּי־אֲנַחְנוּki-a/NACH/nuthat weבוֹנִיםvo/NIMwere rebuildingאֶת־הַחוֹמָהet-ha/cho/MAthe wallוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charit burnedלוֹloin himוַיִּכְעַסvay/yikh/ASand he was angryהַרְבֵּהhar/BEgreatlyוַיַּלְעֵגvay/yal/EGand he mockedעַל־הַיְּהוּדִים׃al-Hay/ye/hu/DIMat the Jews

    But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brothersוְחֵילve/CHELand the army ofשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONSamariaוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמָהmawhat areהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsהָאֲמֵלָלִיםha/a/me/la/LIMthe feebleעֹשִׂיםo/SIMdoingהֲיַעַזְבוּha/ya/az/VUwill they restoreלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesהֲיִזְבָּחוּha/yiz/BA/chuwill they sacrificeהַיְכַלּוּhay/khal/LUwill they finishבַיּוֹםvay/YOMin a dayהַיְחַיּוּhay/chay/YUwill they reviveאֶת־הָאֲבָנִיםet-ha/a/va/NIMthe stonesמֵעֲרֵמוֹתme/a/re/MOTfrom the heaps ofהֶעָפָרhe/a/FARthe dustוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/mathough theyשְׂרוּפוֹת׃se/ru/FOTburned

    And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

35. 35

    וְטוֹבִיָּהve/To/viy/YAand Tobiahהָעַמֹּנִיha/Am/mo/NIthe Ammoniteאֶצְלוֹets/LOwas beside himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגַּםgamevenאֲשֶׁר־הֵםa/SHER-hemwhat theyבּוֹנִיםbo/NIMare buildingאִם־יַעֲלֶהim-ya/a/LEif goes upשׁוּעָלshu/ALa foxוּפָרַץu/fa/RATShe would break downחוֹמַתcho/MATthe wall ofאַבְנֵיהֶם׃av/ne/HEMtheir stones

    Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

36. 36

    שְׁמַעshe/MAhearאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuO our Godכִּי־הָיִינוּki-ha/YI/nufor we areבוּזָהvu/ZAdespisedוְהָשֵׁבve/ha/SHEVand turnחֶרְפָּתָםcher/pa/TAMtheir reproachאֶל־רֹאשָׁםel-ro/SHAMupon their own headוּתְנֵםu/te/NEMand give themלְבִזָּהle/viz/ZAto plunderבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofשִׁבְיָה׃shiv/YAcaptivity

    Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

37. 37

    וְאַל־תְּכַסve/AL-te/KHASand do not coverעַל־עֲוֺנָםal-a/vo/NAMtheir iniquityוְחַטָּאתָםve/chat/ta/TAMand their sinמִלְּפָנֶיךָmil/le/fa/NE/khafrom before Youאַל־תִּמָּחֶהal-tim/ma/CHElet not be blotted outכִּיkiforהִכְעִיסוּhikh/I/suthey have provokedלְנֶגֶדle/NE/gedbeforeהַבּוֹנִים׃hab/bo/NIMthe builders

    And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.

38. 38

    וַנִּבְנֶהvan/niv/NEso we builtאֶת־הַחוֹמָהet-ha/cho/MAthe wallוַתִּקָּשֵׁרvat/tik/ka/SHERand was joinedכׇּל־הַחוֹמָהkol-ha/cho/MAall the wallעַד־חֶצְיָהּad-chets/YAto half its heightוַיְהִיvay/HIfor hadלֵבleva heartלָעָםla/AMthe peopleלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto work

    So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
