Nahum 3 נַחוּם פרק ג׳

   הוֹיhoywoeעִירirthe city ofדָּמִיםda/MIMbloodכֻּלָּהּkul/LAall of itכַּחַשׁKA/chashliesפֶּרֶקPE/rekrobberyמְלֵאָהme/le/Afullלֹאlonotיָמִישׁya/MISHdepartsטָרֶף׃TA/refprey

   Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

   קוֹלkolthe noise ofשׁוֹטshota scourgeוְקוֹלve/KOLand the noise ofרַעַשׁRA/ashthe rattling ofאוֹפָןo/FANa wheelוְסוּסve/SUSand horseדֹּהֵרdo/HERprancingוּמֶרְכָּבָהu/mer/ka/VAand a chariotמְרַקֵּדָה׃me/rak/ke/DAbounding

   The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

   פָּרָשׁpa/RASHa horsemanמַעֲלֶהma/a/LElifting upוְלַהַבve/LA/havand the flashing ofחֶרֶבCHE/revswordוּבְרַקu/ve/RAKand the glittering ofחֲנִיתcha/NITspearוְרֹבve/ROVand a multitude ofחָלָלcha/LALslainוְכֹבֶדve/KHO/vedand a great number ofפָּגֶרPA/gercarcassesוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noקֵצֶהKE/tseendלַגְּוִיָּהlag/ge/viy/YAto the corpses(יכשלו)yakhashalav[וְכָשְׁלוּ]ve/kha/she/LUand they stumbleבִּגְוִיָּתָם׃big/viy/ya/TAMupon their corpses

   The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

   מֵרֹבme/ROVbecause of the multitude ofזְנוּנֵיze/nu/NEthe whoredoms ofזוֹנָהzo/NAthe harlotטוֹבַתto/VATgood ofחֵןchenfavorבַּעֲלַתba/a/LATthe mistress ofכְּשָׁפִיםke/sha/FIMsorceriesהַמֹּכֶרֶתham/mo/KHE/retthat sellsגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsבִּזְנוּנֶיהָbiz/nu/NE/hathrough her whoredomsוּמִשְׁפָּחוֹתu/mish/pa/CHOTand familiesבִּכְשָׁפֶיהָ׃bikh/sha/FE/haby her sorceries

   Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

   הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iאֵלַיִךְe/LA/yikhagainst youנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsוְגִלֵּיתִיve/gil/le/TIand I will uncoverשׁוּלַיִךְshu/LA/yikhyour skirtsעַל־פָּנָיִךְal-pa/NA/yikhupon your faceוְהַרְאֵיתִיve/har/e/TIand I will showגוֹיִםgo/YIMthe nationsמַעְרֵךְma/REKHyour nakednessוּמַמְלָכוֹתu/mam/la/KHOTand kingdomsקְלוֹנֵךְ׃ke/lo/NEKHyour shame

   Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

   וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּיve/hish/lakh/TIand I will castעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhupon youשִׁקֻּצִיםshik/ku/TSIMabominationsוְנִבַּלְתִּיךְve/nib/bal/TIKHand I will disgrace youוְשַׂמְתִּיךְve/sam/TIKHand I will make youכְּרֹאִי׃ke/RO/ilike a spectacle

   And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

7. 7

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכׇל־רֹאַיִךְkhol-ro/A/yikhall those who see youיִדּוֹדyid/DODshall fleeמִמֵּךְmim/MEKHfrom youוְאָמַרve/a/MARand sayשׇׁדְּדָהshod/de/DAis laid wasteנִינְוֵהNi/ne/VENinevehמִיmiwhoיָנוּדya/NUDwill bemoanלָהּlafor herמֵאַיִןme/A/yinwhenceאֲבַקֵּשׁa/vak/KESHshall I seekמְנַחֲמִיםme/na/cha/MIMcomfortersלָךְ׃lakhfor you

   And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

   הֲתֵיטְבִיha/te/te/VIare you betterמִנֹּאmin/NOthan Noאָמוֹןa/MONpopulousהַיֹּשְׁבָהhay/yosh/VAthat was situatedבַּיְאֹרִיםbay/o/RIMamong the streamsמַיִםMA/yimwatersסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundלָהּlato herאֲשֶׁר־חֵילa/SHER-chelwhose rampartיָםyamthe seaמִיָּםmiy/YAMfrom the seaחוֹמָתָהּ׃cho/ma/TAits wall

   Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

   כּוּשׁKushCushעׇצְמָהots/MAher strengthוּמִצְרַיִםu/Mits/RA/yimand Egyptוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noקֵצֶהKE/tseendפּוּטPutPutוְלוּבִיםve/Lu/VIMand the Libyansהָיוּha/YUwereבְּעֶזְרָתֵךְ׃be/ez/ra/TEKHamong your helpers

   Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

10. 10

    גַּם־הִיאgam-hiyet sheלַגֹּלָהlag/go/LAinto exileהָלְכָהha/le/KHAwentבַשֶּׁבִיvash/SHE/viinto captivityגַּםgamalsoעֹלָלֶיהָo/la/LE/haher childrenיְרֻטְּשׁוּye/rut/te/SHUwere dashed in piecesבְּרֹאשׁbe/ROSHin the top ofכׇּל־חוּצוֹתkol-chu/TSOTall the streetsוְעַל־נִכְבַּדֶּיהָve/AL-nikh/bad/DE/haand for her honorable menיַדּוּyad/DUthey castגוֹרָלgo/RALlotsוְכׇל־גְּדוֹלֶיהָve/KHOL-ge/do/LE/haand all her great menרֻתְּקוּrut/te/KUwere boundבַזִּקִּים׃vaz/zik/KIMin chains

    Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

    גַּם־אַתְּgam-attalso youתִּשְׁכְּרִיtish/ke/RIshall be drunkenתְּהִיte/HIyou shall beנַעֲלָמָהna/a/la/MAyou shall be hidגַּם־אַתְּgam-attalso youתְּבַקְשִׁיte/vak/SHIshall seekמָעוֹזma/OZstrengthמֵאוֹיֵב׃me/o/YEVbecause of the enemy

    Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

12. 12

    כׇּל־מִבְצָרַיִךְkol-miv/tsa/RA/yikhall your fortificationsתְּאֵנִיםte/e/NIMfig treesעִם־בִּכּוּרִיםim-bik/ku/RIMwith first ripe figsאִם־יִנּוֹעוּim-yin/NO/uif they are shakenוְנָפְלוּve/na/fe/LUand they shall fallעַל־פִּיal-piinto the mouth ofאוֹכֵל׃o/KHELthe eater

    All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעַמֵּךְam/MEKHyour peopleנָשִׁיםna/SHIMare womenבְּקִרְבֵּךְbe/kir/BEKHin your midstלְאֹיְבַיִךְle/oy/VA/yikhto your enemiesפָּתוֹחַpa/TO/achopenנִפְתְּחוּnif/te/CHUare openedשַׁעֲרֵיsha/a/REthe gates ofאַרְצֵךְar/TSEKHyour landאָכְלָהa/khe/LAhas devouredאֵשׁeshfireבְּרִיחָיִךְ׃be/ri/cha/YIKHyour bars

    Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

14. 14

    מֵיmethe waters ofמָצוֹרma/TSORsiegeשַׁאֲבִי־לָךְsha/a/VI-lakhdraw for yourselfחַזְּקִיchaz/ze/KIfortifyמִבְצָרָיִךְmiv/tsa/RA/yikhyour strongholdsבֹּאִיBO/igo intoבַטִּיטvat/TITthe clayוְרִמְסִיve/rim/SIand treadבַחֹמֶרva/CHO/merthe mortarהַחֲזִיקִיha/cha/ZI/kimake strongמַלְבֵּן׃mal/BENthe brickkiln

    Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

15. 15

    שָׁםshamthereתֹּאכְלֵךְto/khe/LEKHshall devour youאֵשׁeshfireתַּכְרִיתֵךְtakh/ri/TEKHshall cut you offחֶרֶבCHE/revthe swordתֹּאכְלֵךְto/khe/LEKHshall devour youכַּיָּלֶקkay/YA/leklike the cankerwormהִתְכַּבֵּדhit/kab/BEDmake yourself numerousכַּיֶּלֶקkay/YE/leklike the cankerwormהִתְכַּבְּדִיhit/kab/be/DImake yourself numerousכָּאַרְבֶּה׃ka/ar/BElike the locust

    There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

16. 16

    הִרְבֵּיתhir/BETyou have multipliedרֹכְלַיִךְrokh/LA/yikhyour merchantsמִכּוֹכְבֵיmik/kokh/VEabove the stars ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensיֶלֶקYE/lekthe cankerwormפָּשַׁטpa/SHATspoilsוַיָּעֹף׃vay/ya/OFand flies away

    Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

17. 17

    מִנְּזָרַיִךְmin/ne/za/RA/yikhyour crownedכָּאַרְבֶּהka/ar/BElike the locustוְטַפְסְרַיִךְve/taf/se/RA/yikhand your captainsכְּגוֹבke/GOVas a swarm ofגֹּבָיgo/VAYgrasshoppersהַחוֹנִיםha/cho/NIMwhich campבַּגְּדֵרוֹתbag/ge/de/ROTin the hedgesבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofקָרָהka/RAcoldשֶׁמֶשׁSHE/meshthe sunזָרְחָהza/re/CHArisesוְנוֹדַדve/no/DADand they fleeוְלֹא־נוֹדַעve/LO-no/DAand is not knownמְקוֹמוֹme/ko/MOtheir placeאַיָּם׃ay/YAMwhere they are

    Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

18. 18

    נָמוּna/MUslumberרֹעֶיךָro/E/khayour shepherdsמֶלֶךְME/lekhO king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaיִשְׁכְּנוּyish/ke/NUshall dwellאַדִּירֶיךָad/di/RE/khayour noblesנָפֹשׁוּna/FO/shuare scatteredעַמְּךָam/me/KHAyour peopleעַל־הֶהָרִיםal-he/ha/RIMupon the mountainsוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמְקַבֵּץ׃me/kab/BETSgathering

    Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

19. 19

    אֵין־כֵּהָהen-ke/HAthere is no healingלְשִׁבְרֶךָle/shiv/RE/khafor your fractureנַחְלָהnach/LAis grievousמַכָּתֶךָmak/ka/TE/khayour woundכֹּלkolallשֹׁמְעֵיshom/Ethat hearשִׁמְעֲךָshim/a/KHAyour reportתָּקְעוּta/ke/Uclapכַףkhafthe handעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youכִּיkiforעַל־מִיal-miupon whomלֹא־עָבְרָהlo-a/ve/RAhas not passedרָעָתְךָra/a/te/KHAyour wickednessתָּמִיד׃ta/MIDcontinually

    There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
