Nahum 2 נַחוּם פרק ב׳

1. 1

   הִנֵּהbeholdעַל־הֶהָרִיםupon the mountainsרַגְלֵיfeet ofמְבַשֵּׂרthat bringeth good tidingsמַשְׁמִיעַthat publishethשָׁלוֹםpeaceחׇגִּיcelebrate a festivalיְהוּדָהJudahחַגַּיִךְyour festivalsשַׁלְּמִיpayנְדָרָיִךְyour vowsכִּיforלֹאnotיוֹסִיףshall he againעוֹדany more(לעבור)[לַעֲבׇר־]בָּךְto pass in youבְּלִיַּעַלBelialכֻּלֹּהall of itנִכְרָת׃is cut off

   Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

   עָלָהascendedמֵפִיץhe that dasheth in piecesעַל־פָּנַיִךְupon your faceנָצוֹרguardמְצוּרָהfortificationצַפֵּה־דֶרֶךְwatch the wayחַזֵּקencourageמׇתְנַיִםthe hipsאַמֵּץmake strongכֹּחַpowerמְאֹד׃exceedingly

   He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.

   כִּיbecauseשָׁבreturnedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־גְּאוֹןthe pride ofיַעֲקֹבJacobכִּגְאוֹןlike the majesty ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelכִּיbecauseבְקָקוּםthey have laid waste to themבֹּקְקִיםthose who lay wasteוּזְמֹרֵיהֶםand their branchesשִׁחֵתוּ׃they have dealt corruptly

   For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.

   מָגֵןthe shield ofגִּבֹּרֵיהוּhis warriorsמְאׇדָּםis made redאַנְשֵׁי־חַיִלthe men of mightמְתֻלָּעִיםare clothed in scarletבְּאֵשׁ־פְּלָדֹתin fire of torchesהָרֶכֶבthe chariotsבְּיוֹםin the day ofהֲכִינוֹprepares heוְהַבְּרֹשִׁיםand the cypressesהׇרְעָלוּ׃they have been made to quiver

   The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.

   בַּחוּצוֹתin the streetsיִתְהוֹלְלוּthey drive madlyהָרֶכֶבthe chariotsיִשְׁתַּקְשְׁקוּןthey rush aroundבָּרְחֹבוֹתin the open placesמַרְאֵיהֶןtheir appearanceכַּלַּפִּידִיםas the torchesכַּבְּרָקִיםlike the lightning flashesיְרוֹצֵצוּ׃they run around

   The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

6. 6

   יִזְכֹּרshall rememberאַדִּירָיוhis noblesיִכָּשְׁלוּthey might stumble[בַּהֲלִיכָתָם]on journey theirיְמַהֲרוּthey shall make hasteחוֹמָתָהּits wallוְהֻכַןand it is preparedהַסֹּכֵךְ׃the one which covers

   He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.

7. 7

   שַׁעֲרֵיthe gates ofהַנְּהָרוֹתthe riversנִפְתָּחוּthey were openedוְהַהֵיכׇלand the templeנָמוֹג׃shall be dissolved

   The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

8. 8

   וְהֻצַּבand Huzzabגֻּלְּתָהit was uncoveredהֹעֲלָתָהit was taken awayוְאַמְהֹתֶיהָand its maidservantsמְנַהֲגוֹתshall lead herכְּקוֹלas it were with a voice ofיוֹנִיםare dovesמְתֹפְפֹתthey are beatingעַל־לִבְבֵהֶן׃upon their hearts

   And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.

9. 9

   וְנִינְוֵהand Ninevehכִבְרֵכַת־מַיִםwas like a pool of waterמִימֵיof oldהִיאit isוְהֵמָּהand theyנָסִיםfledעִמְדוּstandעֲמֹדוּstopוְאֵיןand there is noמַפְנֶה׃is one who turns back

   But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

10. 10

    בֹּזּוּplunderכֶסֶףsilverבֹּזּוּplunderזָהָבgoldוְאֵיןand there is noקֵצֶהendלַתְּכוּנָהto the supplyכָּבֹדabundanceמִכֹּלof allכְּלִיthe vesselחֶמְדָּה׃of delight

    Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.

    בּוּקָהemptinessוּמְבוּקָהand emptinessוּמְבֻלָּקָהand devastationוְלֵבand heartנָמֵסit has meltedוּפִקand are totteringבִּרְכַּיִםkneesוְחַלְחָלָהand anguishבְּכׇל־מׇתְנַיִםon all loinsוּפְנֵיand the faces ofכֻלָּםall of themקִבְּצוּgatherפָארוּר׃blackness

    She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

    אַיֵּהwhere isמְעוֹןthe dwelling ofאֲרָיוֹתlionsוּמִרְעֶהand pastureהוּאheלַכְּפִרִיםfor the young lionsאֲשֶׁרwhichהָלַךְwentאַרְיֵהa lionלָבִיאthe old lionשָׁםthereגּוּרthe whelpאַרְיֵהa lionוְאֵיןand there is noמַחֲרִיד׃one who terrifies

    Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?

13. 13

    אַרְיֵהa lionטֹרֵףO one who tearsבְּדֵיin the sufficiency ofגֹרוֹתָיוits cubsוּמְחַנֵּקand was stranglingלְלִבְאֹתָיוfor its lionessesוַיְמַלֵּא־טֶרֶףand satisfied the preyחֹרָיוits holeוּמְעֹנֹתָיוand its densטְרֵפָה׃a torn animal

    The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.

14. 14

    הִנְנִיbehold Iאֵלַיִךְinto youנְאֻםsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsוְהִבְעַרְתִּיand I will burnבֶעָשָׁןin smokeרִכְבָּהּits chariotryוּכְפִירַיִךְand your young lionsתֹּאכַלyou will eatחָרֶבa swordוְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofטַרְפֵּךְyour preyוְלֹא־יִשָּׁמַעand not it will be heardעוֹדany moreקוֹלthe voice ofמַלְאָכֵכֵה׃your messengers

    Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
