   Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.

   וַיִּתְיַצְּבוּvay/yit/yats/tse/VUand presented themselvesפִּנּוֹתpin/NOTthe chiefs ofכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleכֹּלkolof allשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבִּקְהַלbik/HALin the assembly ofעַםamthe people ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenרַגְלִיrag/LIon footשֹׁלֵף־חָרֶב׃SHO/lef-CHA/revthat drew sword

   And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.

   וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand they heardבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminכִּי־עָלוּki-a/LUthat had gone upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelהַמִּצְפָּהham/Mits/PAto Mizpahוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelדַּבְּרוּdab/be/RUtell usאֵיכָהe/KHAhowנִהְיְתָהnih/ye/TAwasהָרָעָהha/ra/Awickednessהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel, Tell us, how was this wickedness?

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַלֵּוִיhal/Le/VIthe Leviteאִישׁishthe husband ofהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanהַנִּרְצָחָהhan/nir/tsa/CHAwho was murderedוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַגִּבְעָתָהhag/Giv/A/tato Gibeahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat belongsלְבִנְיָמִןle/Vin/ya/MINto BenjaminבָּאתִיBA/ticameאֲנִיa/NIIוּפִילַגְשִׁיu/fi/lag/SHIand my concubineלָלוּן׃la/LUNto lodge

   And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.

   וַיָּקֻמוּvay/ya/KU/muand roseעָלַיa/LAYagainst meבַּעֲלֵיba/a/LEthe men ofהַגִּבְעָהHag/giv/AGibeahוַיָּסֹבּוּvay/ya/SOB/buand surroundedעָלַיa/LAYaround meאֶת־הַבַּיִתet-hab/BA/yitthe houseלָיְלָהLAY/laby nightאוֹתִיo/TImeדִּמּוּdim/MUthey thoughtלַהֲרֹגla/ha/ROGto slayוְאֶת־פִּילַגְשִׁיve/ET-pi/lag/SHIand my concubineעִנּוּin/NUthey have humbledוַתָּמֹת׃vat/ta/MOTthat she died

   And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.

   וָאֹחֵזva/o/CHEZand I tookבְּפִילַגְשִׁיbe/fi/lag/SHImy concubineוָאֲנַתְּחֶהָva/a/nat/te/CHE/haand cut her in piecesוָאֲשַׁלְּחֶהָva/a/shal/le/CHE/haand sent herבְּכׇל־שְׂדֵהbe/KHOL-se/DEthroughout all the country ofנַחֲלַתna/cha/LATthe inheritance ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכִּיkiforעָשׂוּa/SUthey have committedזִמָּהzim/MAlewdnessוּנְבָלָהu/ne/va/LAand disgraceful follyבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

   And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכֻלְּכֶםkhul/le/KHEMall of youבְּנֵיbe/NEchildren ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהָבוּha/VUgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesדָּבָרda/VARwordוְעֵצָהve/e/TSAand counselהֲלֹם׃ha/LOMhere

   Behold, ye are all children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleכְּאִישׁke/ISHas a manאֶחָדe/CHADoneלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotנֵלֵךְne/LEKHwill goאִישׁisha manלְאׇהֳלוֹle/o/ho/LOto his tentוְלֹאve/LOnorנָסוּרna/SURwill turnאִישׁisha manלְבֵיתוֹ׃le/ve/TOto his house

   And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowזֶהzethis isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנַעֲשֶׂהna/a/SEwe will doלַגִּבְעָהlag/Giv/Ato Gibeahעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst itבְּגוֹרָל׃be/go/RALby lot

   But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it;

    וְלָקַחְנוּve/la/KACH/nuand we will takeעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenלַמֵּאָהlam/me/Aof a hundredלְכֹלle/KHOLthroughout allשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּמֵאָהu/me/Aand a hundredלָאֶלֶףla/E/lefof a thousandוְאֶלֶףve/E/lefand a thousandלָרְבָבָהla/re/va/VAof ten thousandלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto fetchצֵדָהtse/DAprovisionsלָעָםla/AMfor the peopleלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTthat they may doלְבוֹאָםle/vo/AMwhen they comeלְגֶבַעle/GE/vato Geba ofבִּנְיָמִןBin/ya/MINBenjaminכְּכׇל־הַנְּבָלָהke/KHOL-han/ne/va/LAaccording to all the disgraceful follyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂהa/SAthey have doneבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

    And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.

    וַיֵּאָסֵףvay/ye/a/SEFso were gatheredכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishall the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRagainst the cityכְּאִישׁke/ISHas manאֶחָדe/CHADoneחֲבֵרִים׃cha/ve/RIMknit together

    So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

    וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand sentשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenבְּכׇל־שִׁבְטֵיbe/KHOL-shiv/TEthrough all the tribes ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhatהָרָעָהha/ra/Awickednessהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִהְיְתָהnih/ye/TAhas been doneבָּכֶם׃ba/KHEMamong you

    And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?

13. 13

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowתְּנוּte/NUdeliverאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםet-ha/a/na/SHIMthe menבְּנֵי־בְלִיַּעַלbe/NE-ve/liy/YA/alworthless fellowsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבַּגִּבְעָהbag/Giv/Ain Gibeahוּנְמִיתֵםu/ne/mi/TEMthat we may put them to deathוּנְבַעֲרָהu/ne/va/a/RAand put awayרָעָהra/Aevilמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלmiy/Yis/ra/ELfrom Israelוְלֹאve/LObut notאָבוּa/VUwould[בְּנֵי]be/NEthe children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ahearkenבְּקוֹלbe/KOLto the voice ofאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brothersבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israel

    Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:

14. 14

    וַיֵּאָסְפוּvay/ye/a/se/FUbut gathered themselves togetherבְנֵי־בִנְיָמִןve/NE-vin/ya/MINthe children of Benjaminמִן־הֶעָרִיםmin-he/a/RIMfrom the citiesהַגִּבְעָתָהhag/Giv/A/tato Gibeahלָצֵאתla/TSETto go outלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEagainst the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.

15. 15

    וַיִּתְפָּקְדוּvay/yit/pa/ke/DUand were numberedבְנֵיve/NEthe children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatמֵהֶעָרִיםme/he/a/RIMout of the citiesעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוְשִׁשָּׁהve/shish/SHAand sixאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenשֹׁלֵףSHO/lefthat drewחָרֶבCHA/revswordלְבַדle/VADbesidesמִיֹּשְׁבֵיmiy/yosh/VEfrom the inhabitants ofהַגִּבְעָהHag/giv/AGibeahהִתְפָּקְדוּhit/pa/ke/DUwho were numberedשְׁבַעshe/VAsevenמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאִישׁishmenבָּחוּר׃ba/CHURchosen

    And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.

16. 16

    מִכֹּלmik/KOLamong allהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisשְׁבַעshe/VAsevenמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאִישׁishmenבָּחוּרba/CHURchosenאִטֵּרit/TERrestricted inיַד־יְמִינוֹyad-ye/mi/NOhis right handכׇּל־זֶהkol-zeevery oneקֹלֵעַko/LE/acould slingבָּאֶבֶןba/E/venstonesאֶל־הַשַּׂעֲרָהel-has/sa/a/RAat a hairוְלֹאve/LOand notיַחֲטִא׃ya/cha/TImiss

    Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.

17. 17

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהִתְפָּקְדוּhit/pa/ke/DUwere numberedלְבַדle/VADbesidesמִבִּנְיָמִןMib/bin/ya/MINBenjaminאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenשֹׁלֵףSHO/lefthat drewחָרֶבCHA/revswordכׇּל־זֶהkol-zeall theseאִישׁishwere men ofמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAwar

    And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.

18. 18

    וַיָּקֻמוּvay/ya/KU/muand aroseוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upבֵית־אֵלvet-Elto Beth-elוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּvay/yish/a/LUand asked counselבֵאלֹהִיםve/lo/HIMof Godוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמִיmiwhoיַעֲלֶה־לָּנוּya/a/LE-LA/nushall go up for usבַתְּחִלָּהvat/te/chil/LAfirstלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEagainst the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahבַתְּחִלָּה׃vat/te/chil/LAfirst

    And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.

19. 19

    וַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand rose upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampedעַל־הַגִּבְעָה׃al-Hag/giv/Aagainst Gibeah

    And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.

20. 20

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outאִישׁishthe men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleעִם־בִּנְיָמִןim-Bin/ya/MINagainst Benjaminוַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand put in arrayאִתָּםit/TAMagainst themאִישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלish-Yis/ra/ELthe men of Israelמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAbattleאֶל־הַגִּבְעָה׃el-Hag/giv/Aat Gibeah

    And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.

21. 21

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outבְנֵי־בִנְיָמִןve/NE-vin/ya/MINthe children of Benjaminמִן־הַגִּבְעָהmin-Hag/giv/Afrom Gibeahוַיַּשְׁחִיתוּvay/yash/CHI/tuand destroyedבְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELin Israelבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the ground

    And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.

22. 22

    וַיִּתְחַזֵּקvay/yit/chaz/ZEKand encouraged themselvesהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאִישׁishthe men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֹּסִפוּvay/yo/SI/fuand againלַעֲרֹךְla/a/ROKHset in arrayמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAbattleבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeאֲשֶׁר־עָרְכוּa/SHER-AR/khuwhere they had set in arrayשָׁםshamthereבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהָרִאשׁוֹן׃ha/ri/SHONthe first

    And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.

    וַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelוַיִּבְכּוּvay/yiv/KUand weptלִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָהlif/NE-Adonaibefore the LORDעַד־הָעֶרֶבad-ha/E/revuntil the eveningוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּvay/yish/a/LUand asked counselבַיהֹוָהba-Adonaiof the LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַאוֹסִיףha/o/SIFshall I againלָגֶשֶׁתla/GE/shetgo upלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEagainst the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminאָחִיa/CHImy brotherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעֲלוּa/LUgo upאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVagainst him

    (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)

    וַיִּקְרְבוּvay/yik/re/VUand came nearבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEagainst the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשֵּׁנִי׃hash/she/NIthe second

    And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.

25. 25

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminלִקְרָאתָםlik/ra/TAMagainst themמִן־הַגִּבְעָהmin-Hag/giv/Afrom Gibeahבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondוַיַּשְׁחִיתוּvay/yash/CHI/tuand destroyedבִבְנֵיviv/NEof the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעוֹדodagainשְׁמֹנַת־עָשָׂרshe/mo/NAT-a/SAReighteenאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenאָרְצָהAR/tsato the groundכׇּל־אֵלֶּהkol-EL/leall theseשֹׁלְפֵיSHOL/fedrewחָרֶב׃CHA/revsword

    And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.

    וַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUthen went upכׇל־בְּנֵיkhol-be/NEall the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameבֵית־אֵלvet-Elto Beth-elוַיִּבְכּוּvay/yiv/KUand they weptוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand satשָׁםshamthereלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיָּצוּמוּvay/ya/TSU/muand they fastedבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאvay/YOM-ha/HUthat dayעַד־הָעָרֶבad-ha/A/revuntil the eveningוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand offeredעֹלוֹתo/LOTburnt offeringsוּשְׁלָמִיםu/she/la/MIMand peace offeringsלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

27. 27

    וַיִּשְׁאֲלוּvay/yish/a/LUand inquiredבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiof the LORDוְשָׁםve/SHAMfor thereאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofבְּרִיתbe/RITthe covenant ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵם׃ha/HEMthose

    And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

28. 28

    וּפִינְחָסu/Fi/ne/CHASand Phinehasבֶּן־אֶלְעָזָרben-El/a/ZARthe son of Eleazarבֶּן־אַהֲרֹןben-A/ha/RONthe son of Aaronעֹמֵדo/MEDstoodלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore itבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַאוֹסִףha/o/SIFshall I againעוֹדodyetלָצֵאתla/TSETgo outלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleעִם־בְּנֵי־בִנְיָמִןim-be/NE-Vin/ya/MINagainst the children of Benjaminאָחִיa/CHImy brotherאִם־אֶחְדָּלim-ech/DALor shall I ceaseוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעֲלוּa/LUgo upכִּיkiforמָחָרma/CHARon the morrowאֶתְּנֶנּוּet/te/NEN/nuI will deliver themבְיָדֶךָ׃ve/ya/DE/khainto your hand

    And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.

29. 29

    וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand setיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֹרְבִיםor/VIMliers in waitאֶל־הַגִּבְעָהel-Hag/giv/Aagainst Gibeahסָבִיב׃sa/VIVround about

    And Israel set liers in wait round about Gibeah.

30. 30

    וַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEagainst the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdוַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand put themselves in arrayאֶל־הַגִּבְעָהel-Hag/giv/Aagainst Gibeahכְּפַעַםke/FA/amas at other timesבְּפָעַם׃be/FA/ambefore

    And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.

31. 31

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outבְנֵי־בִנְיָמִןve/NE-vin/ya/MINthe children of Benjaminלִקְרַאתlik/RATagainstהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהׇנְתְּקוּhon/te/KUand were drawn awayמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRfrom the cityוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלְהַכּוֹתle/hak/KOTto strikeמֵהָעָםme/ha/AMof the peopleחֲלָלִיםcha/la/LIMslainכְּפַעַםke/FA/amas at other timesבְּפַעַםbe/FA/ambeforeבַּמְסִלּוֹתbam/sil/LOTin the highwaysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichאַחַתa/CHAToneעֹלָהo/LAgoes up toבֵית־אֵלVet-elBeth-elוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand the otherגִּבְעָתָהGiv/A/tato Gibeahבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldכִּשְׁלֹשִׁיםkish/lo/SHIMabout thirtyאִישׁishmenבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELof Israel

    And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminנִגָּפִיםnig/ga/FIMare struck downהֵםhemtheyלְפָנֵינוּle/fa/NE/nubefore usכְּבָרִאשֹׁנָהke/va/ri/sho/NAas at the firstוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEbut the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidנָנוּסָהna/NU/salet us fleeוּנְתַקְּנוּהוּu/ne/tak/ke/NU/huand draw themמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRfrom the cityאֶל־הַמְסִלּוֹת׃el-ham/sil/LOTto the highways

    And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.

33. 33

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand allאִישׁishthe men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelקָמוּKA/murose upמִמְּקוֹמוֹmim/me/ko/MOout of their placeוַיַּעַרְכוּvay/ya/ar/KHUand put themselves in arrayבְּבַעַלbe/VA/alat Baal-תָּמָרta/MARtamarוְאֹרֵבve/o/REVand the liers in wait ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמֵגִיחַme/GI/achburst forthמִמְּקֹמוֹmim/me/ko/MOout of their placeמִמַּעֲרֵהmim/MA/a/refrom the meadows ofגָבַע׃GA/vaGeba

    And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baal-tamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.

34. 34

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameמִנֶּגֶדmin/NE/gedagainstלַגִּבְעָהLag/giv/AGibeahעֲשֶׂרֶתa/SE/rettenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenבָּחוּרba/CHURchosenמִכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלmik/KOL-yis/ra/ELout of all Israelוְהַמִּלְחָמָהve/ham/mil/cha/MAand the battleכָּבֵדָהka/VE/dawas heavyוְהֵםve/HEMbut theyלֹאlonotיָדְעוּya/de/Uknewכִּי־נֹגַעַתki-no/GA/atthat was nearעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemהָרָעָה׃ha/ra/Aevil

    And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.

35. 35

    וַיִּגֹּףvay/yig/GOFand struckיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־בִּנְיָמִןet-Bin/ya/MINBenjaminלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּשְׁחִיתוּvay/yash/CHI/tuand destroyedבְנֵיve/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּבִנְיָמִןbe/Vin/ya/MINof Benjaminבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוַחֲמִשָּׁהva/cha/mish/SHAand fiveאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוּמֵאָהu/me/Aand one hundredאִישׁishmenכׇּל־אֵלֶּהkol-EL/leall theseשֹׁלֵף־חָרֶב׃SHO/lef-CHA/revdrew sword

    And the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.

36. 36

    וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they sawבְנֵי־בִנְיָמִןve/NE-vin/ya/MINthe children of Benjaminכִּיkithatנִגָּפוּnig/GA/futhey were struck downוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUfor gaveאִישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלish-Yis/ra/ELthe men of Israelמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceלְבִנְיָמִןle/Vin/ya/MINto Benjaminכִּיkibecauseבָטְחוּva/te/CHUthey reliedאֶל־הָאֹרֵבel-ha/o/REVon the liers in waitאֲשֶׁר־שָׂמוּa/SHER-SA/muwhom they had setאֶל־הַגִּבְעָה׃el-Hag/giv/Aagainst Gibeah

    So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.

37. 37

    וְהָאֹרֵבve/ha/o/REVand the liers in waitהֵחִישׁוּhe/CHI/shuhurriedוַיִּפְשְׁטוּvay/yif/she/TUand rushedאֶל־הַגִּבְעָהel-Hag/giv/Aupon Gibeahוַיִּמְשֹׁךְvay/yim/SHOKHand moved forwardהָאֹרֵבha/o/REVthe liers in waitוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶת־כׇּל־הָעִירet-kol-ha/IRall the cityלְפִי־חָרֶב׃le/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the sword

    And the liers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the liers in wait drew themselves along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.

38. 38

    וְהַמּוֹעֵדve/ham/mo/EDnow the appointed signהָיָהha/YAwasלְאִישׁle/ISHbetween the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעִם־הָאֹרֵבim-ha/o/REVand the liers in waitהֶרֶבHE/revmake greatלְהַעֲלוֹתָםle/ha/a/lo/TAMto make them raiseמַשְׂאַתmas/ATa cloud ofהֶעָשָׁןhe/a/SHANthe smokeמִן־הָעִיר׃min-ha/IRfrom the city

    Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.

39. 39

    וַיַּהֲפֹךְvay/ya/ha/FOKHand when turnedאִישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלish-Yis/ra/ELthe men of Israelבַּמִּלְחָמָהbam/mil/cha/MAin the battleוּבִנְיָמִןu/Vin/ya/MINand Benjaminהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganלְהַכּוֹתle/hak/KOTto strikeחֲלָלִיםcha/la/LIMslainבְּאִישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/ISH-yis/ra/ELof the men of Israelכִּשְׁלֹשִׁיםkish/lo/SHIMabout thirtyאִישׁishmenכִּיkiforאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidאַךְakhsurelyנִגּוֹףnig/GOFstruck downנִגָּףnig/GAFis struck downהוּאhuheלְפָנֵינוּle/fa/NE/nubefore usכַּמִּלְחָמָהkam/mil/cha/MAas in the battleהָרִאשֹׁנָה׃ha/ri/sho/NAthe first

    And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.

40. 40

    וְהַמַּשְׂאֵתve/ham/mas/ETbut when the cloudהֵחֵלָּהhe/CHEL/labeganלַעֲלוֹתla/a/LOTto riseמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRfrom the cityעַמּוּדam/MUDa pillar ofעָשָׁןa/SHANsmokeוַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedבִּנְיָמִןBin/ya/MINBenjaminאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVbehind themוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdעָלָהa/LAwent upכְלִיל־הָעִירkhe/LIL-ha/IRthe whole of the cityהַשָּׁמָיְמָה׃hash/sha/MAY/matoward heaven

    But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.

41. 41

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהָפַךְha/FAKHturned againוַיִּבָּהֵלvay/yib/ba/HELand were dismayedאִישׁishthe men ofבִּנְיָמִןBin/ya/MINBenjaminכִּיkiforרָאָהra/Athey sawכִּי־נָגְעָהki-na/ge/Athat had comeעָלָיוa/LAYVupon themהָרָעָה׃ha/ra/Aevil

    And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.

42. 42

    וַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUtherefore they turnedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאִישׁishthe men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־דֶּרֶךְel-DE/rekhto the way ofהַמִּדְבָּרham/mid/BARthe wildernessוְהַמִּלְחָמָהve/ham/mil/cha/MAbut the battleהִדְבִּיקָתְהוּhid/bi/KAT/huovertook themוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand those whoמֵהֶעָרִיםme/he/a/RIMfrom the citiesמַשְׁחִיתִיםmash/chi/TIMdestroyedאוֹתוֹo/TOthemבְּתוֹכוֹ׃be/to/KHOin the midst of them

    Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.

43. 43

    כִּתְּרוּkit/te/RUthey surroundedאֶת־בִּנְיָמִןet-Bin/ya/MINBenjaminהִרְדִיפֻהוּhir/di/FU/huthey chased themמְנוּחָהme/nu/CHAwith easeהִדְרִיכֻהוּhid/ri/KHU/huthey trod him downעַדadas far asנֹכַחNO/khachover againstהַגִּבְעָהHag/giv/AGibeahמִמִּזְרַח־שָׁמֶשׁ׃mim/miz/RACH-SHA/meshtoward the sunrising

    Thus they inclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease over against Gibeah toward the sunrising.

44. 44

    וַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand there fellמִבִּנְיָמִןmib/Bin/ya/MINof Benjaminשְׁמֹנָה־עָשָׂרshe/mo/NA-a/SAReighteenאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall these wereאַנְשֵׁי־חָיִל׃an/SHE-CHA/yilmen of valor

    And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.

45. 45

    וַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand they turnedוַיָּנֻסוּvay/ya/NU/suand fledהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/ratoward the wildernessאֶל־סֶלַעel-SE/lato the rock ofהָרִמּוֹןHa/rim/MONRimmonוַיְעֹלְלֻהוּvay/ol/LU/huand they gleaned of themבַּמְסִלּוֹתbam/sil/LOTin the highwaysחֲמֵשֶׁתcha/ME/shetfiveאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenוַיַּדְבִּיקוּvay/yad/BI/kuand pursued hardאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter themעַד־גִּדְעֹםad-Gid/OMto Gidomוַיַּכּוּvay/yak/KUand struckמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof themאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimtwo thousandאִישׁ׃ishmen

    And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.

46. 46

    וַיְהִיvay/HIso wereכׇל־הַנֹּפְלִיםkhol-han/nof/LIMall who fellמִבִּנְיָמִןmib/Bin/ya/MINof Benjaminעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוַחֲמִשָּׁהva/cha/mish/SHAand fiveאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenשֹׁלֵףSHO/lefthat drewחֶרֶבCHE/revswordבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall these wereאַנְשֵׁי־חָיִל׃an/SHE-CHA/yilmen of valor

    So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.

47. 47

    וַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUbut turnedוַיָּנֻסוּvay/ya/NU/suand fledהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/ratoward the wildernessאֶל־סֶלַעel-SE/lato the rock ofהָרִמּוֹןHa/rim/MONRimmonשֵׁשׁsheshsixמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאִישׁishmenוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand abodeבְּסֶלַעbe/SE/lain the rock ofרִמּוֹןRim/MONRimmonאַרְבָּעָהar/ba/Afourחֳדָשִׁים׃cho/da/SHIMmonths

    But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.

48. 48

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelשָׁבוּSHA/vuturned backאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEagainst the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand struck themלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revby the edge of the swordמֵעִירme/IRfrom the cityמְתֹםme/TOMentireעַד־בְּהֵמָהad-be/he/MAto beastעַדadtoכׇּל־הַנִּמְצָאkol-han/nim/TSAall that was foundגַּםgamalsoכׇּל־הֶעָרִיםkol-he/a/RIMall the citiesהַנִּמְצָאוֹתhan/nim/tsa/OTthat they foundשִׁלְּחוּshil/le/CHUthey setבָאֵשׁ׃va/ESHon fire

    And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
