   But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.

   And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

   And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentשִׁמְשׁוֹןShim/SHONSamsonוַיִּלְכֹּדvay/yil/KODand caughtשְׁלֹשׁ־מֵאוֹתshe/LOSH-me/OTthree hundredשׁוּעָלִיםshu/a/LIMfoxesוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookלַפִּדִיםlap/pi/DIMtorchesוַיֶּפֶןvay/YE/fenand turnedזָנָבza/NAVtailאֶל־זָנָבel-za/NAVto tailוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand putלַפִּידlap/PIDa torchאֶחָדe/CHADoneבֵּין־שְׁנֵיben-she/NEbetween twoהַזְּנָבוֹתhaz/ze/na/VOTthe tailsבַּתָּוֶךְ׃bat/TA/vekhin the midst

   And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.

   וַיַּבְעֶר־אֵשׁvay/yav/ER-eshand he set fireבַּלַּפִּידִיםbal/lap/pi/DIMto the torchesוַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand let them goבְּקָמוֹתbe/ka/MOTinto the standing grain ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיַּבְעֵרvay/yav/ERand burned upמִגָּדִישׁmig/ga/DISHboth the shocksוְעַד־קָמָהve/AD-ka/MAand the standing grainוְעַד־כֶּרֶםve/AD-KE/remand the groves ofזָיִת׃ZA/yitolive

   And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesמִיmiwhoעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneזֹאתzotthisוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidשִׁמְשׁוֹןShim/SHONSamsonחֲתַןcha/TANthe son-in-law ofהַתִּמְנִיhat/Tim/NIthe Timniteכִּיkibecauseלָקַחla/KACHhe had takenאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeוַיִּתְּנָהּvay/yit/te/NAand given herלְמֵרֵעֵהוּle/me/re/E/huto his companionוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand came upפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיִּשְׂרְפוּvay/yis/re/FUand burnedאוֹתָהּo/TAherוְאֶת־אָבִיהָve/ET-a/VI/haand her fatherבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

   Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themשִׁמְשׁוֹןShim/SHONSamsonאִם־תַּעֲשׂוּןim-ta/a/SUNthough you have doneכָּזֹאתka/ZOTthisכִּיkiyetאִם־נִקַּמְתִּיim-nik/KAM/tiwill I be avengedבָכֶםva/KHEMon youוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand after thatאֶחְדָּל׃ech/DALI will cease

   And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.

   וַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאוֹתָםo/TAMthemשׁוֹקshokhipעַל־יָרֵךְal-ya/REKHupon thighמַכָּהmak/KAwith a slaughterגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltבִּסְעִיףbis/IFin the cleft ofסֶלַעSE/lathe rock ofעֵיטָם׃E/TAMEtam

   And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.

   וַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUthen went upפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampedבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judahוַיִּנָּטְשׁוּvay/yin/na/te/SHUand spread themselvesבַּלֶּחִי׃bal/LE/chiin Lehi

   Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִישׁishthe men ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahלָמָהla/MAwhyעֲלִיתֶםa/li/TEMhave you come upעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuagainst usוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלֶאֱסוֹרle/e/SORto bindאֶת־שִׁמְשׁוֹןet-Shim/SHONSamsonעָלִינוּa/LI/nuwe have come upלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doלוֹloto himכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

    And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

    וַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUthen went downשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenמִיהוּדָהmI/hu/DAof Judahאֶל־סְעִיףel-se/IFto the cleft ofסֶלַעSE/lathe rock ofעֵיטָםE/TAMEtamוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלְשִׁמְשׁוֹןle/Shim/SHONto Samsonהֲלֹאha/LOdo notיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knowכִּי־מֹשְׁלִיםki-mosh/LIMthat are rulersבָּנוּBA/nuover usפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוּמַה־זֹּאתu/MA-zotand what is thisעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tayou have doneלָּנוּLA/nuto usוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשׂוּa/SUthey didלִיlito meכֵּןkensoעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himלֶאֱסׇרְךָle/e/sor/KHAto bind youיָרַדְנוּya/RAD/nuwe have come downלְתִתְּךָle/tit/te/KHAto deliver youבְּיַד־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםbe/YAD-pe/lish/TIMinto the hand of the Philistinesוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themשִׁמְשׁוֹןShim/SHONSamsonהִשָּׁבְעוּhish/sha/ve/Uswearלִיlito meפֶּן־תִּפְגְּעוּןpen-tif/ge/UNthat you will not fallבִּיbiupon meאַתֶּם׃at/TEMyourselves

    And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonoכִּי־אָסֹרki-a/SORbut bindנֶאֱסׇרְךָne/e/sor/KHAwe will bind youוּנְתַנּוּךָu/ne/tan/NU/khaand deliver youבְיָדָםve/ya/DAMinto their handוְהָמֵתve/ha/METbut killלֹאlonotנְמִיתֶךָne/mi/TE/khawe will kill youוַיַּאַסְרֻהוּvay/ya/as/RU/huand they bound himבִּשְׁנַיִםbish/NA/yimwith twoעֲבֹתִיםa/vo/TIMropesחֲדָשִׁיםcha/da/SHIMnewוַיַּעֲלוּהוּvay/ya/a/LU/huand brought him upמִן־הַסָּלַע׃min-has/SA/lafrom the rock

    And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

    הוּא־בָאhu-vawhen he cameעַד־לֶחִיad-LE/chito Lehiוּפְלִשְׁתִּיםu/Fe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesהֵרִיעוּhe/RI/ushoutedלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOagainst himוַתִּצְלַחvat/tits/LACHand came mightilyעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתִּהְיֶינָהvat/tih/YE/naand becameהָעֲבֹתִיםha/a/vo/TIMthe ropesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereעַל־זְרוֹעוֹתָיוal-ze/ro/o/TAYVon his armsכַּפִּשְׁתִּיםkap/pish/TIMas flaxאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּעֲרוּba/a/RUhas burnedבָאֵשׁva/ESHwith fireוַיִּמַּסּוּvay/yim/MAS/suand meltedאֱסוּרָיוe/su/RAYVhis bandsמֵעַלme/ALfrom offיָדָיו׃ya/DAYVhis hands

    And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

15. 15

    וַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundלְחִי־חֲמוֹרle/CHI-cha/MORa jawbone of a donkeyטְרִיָּהte/riy/YAfreshוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he put outיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַיִּקָּחֶהָvay/yik/ka/CHE/haand took itוַיַּךְ־בָּהּvay/YAKH-baand struck with itאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandאִישׁ׃ishmen

    And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשִׁמְשׁוֹןShim/SHONSamsonבִּלְחִיbil/CHIwith the jawbone ofהַחֲמוֹרha/cha/MORthe donkeyחֲמוֹרcha/MORa heapחֲמֹרָתָיִםcha/mo/ra/TA/yimtwo heapsבִּלְחִיbil/CHIwith the jawbone ofהַחֲמוֹרha/cha/MORthe donkeyהִכֵּיתִיhik/KE/tiI have struckאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandאִישׁ׃ishmen

    And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלֹּתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he had finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוַיַּשְׁלֵךְvay/yash/LEKHthat he cast awayהַלְּחִיhal/le/CHIthe jawboneמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOout of his handוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלַמָּקוֹםlam/ma/KOMthe placeהַהוּאha/HUthatרָמַתRA/matRamath-לֶחִי׃LE/chilehi

    And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.

18. 18

    וַיִּצְמָאvay/yits/MAand he was thirstyמְאֹדme/ODveryוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאַתָּהat/TAYouנָתַתָּna/TAT/tahave givenבְיַד־עַבְדְּךָve/YAD-av/de/KHAinto the hand of Your servantאֶת־הַתְּשׁוּעָהet-hat/te/shu/Adeliveranceהַגְּדֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאָמוּתa/MUTshall I dieבַּצָּמָאbats/tsa/MAof thirstוְנָפַלְתִּיve/na/fal/TIand fallבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofהָעֲרֵלִים׃ha/a/re/LIMthe uncircumcised

    And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

19. 19

    וַיִּבְקַעvay/yiv/KAbut split openאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הַמַּכְתֵּשׁet-ham/makh/TESHthe hollow placeאֲשֶׁר־בַּלֶּחִיa/SHER-Bal/LE/chithat is in Lehiוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand cameמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuout of itמַיִםMA/yimwaterוַיֵּשְׁתְּvay/YESHTand he drankוַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand came againרוּחוֹru/CHOhis spiritוַיֶּחִיvay/YE/chiand he revivedעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeקָרָאka/RAhe calledשְׁמָהּshe/MAits nameעֵיןEnEn-הַקּוֹרֵאhak/ko/REhakkoreאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבַּלֶּחִיbal/LE/chiin Lehiעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

    וַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand he judgedאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

    And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
