   And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

   וַיֵּאָמַרvay/ye/a/MARand it was toldלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the king ofיְרִיחוֹYe/ri/CHOJerichoלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenבָּאוּBA/ucameהֵנָּהHEN/nahereהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/latonightמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלַחְפֹּרlach/PORto search outאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃et-ha/A/retsthe land

   And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְרִיחוֹYe/ri/CHOJerichoאֶל־רָחָבel-Ra/CHAVto Rahabלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהוֹצִיאִיho/tsi/Ibring outהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMwho have comeאֵלַיִךְe/LA/yikhto youאֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּa/SHER-BA/uwho have enteredלְבֵיתֵךְle/ve/TEKHyour houseכִּיkiforלַחְפֹּרlach/PORto search outאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the landבָּאוּ׃BA/uthey have come

   And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

   וַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand she tookהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanאֶת־שְׁנֵיet-she/NEtwoהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menוַתִּצְפְּנוֹvat/tits/pe/NOand she hid themוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidכֵּןkenyesבָּאוּBA/ucameאֵלַיe/LAYto meהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menוְלֹאve/LOand notיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewמֵאַיִןme/A/yinwhere fromהֵמָּה׃HEM/mathey were

   And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהַשַּׁעַרhash/SHA/arthe gateלִסְגּוֹרlis/GORwas to be shutבַּחֹשֶׁךְba/CHO/shekhat darkוְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menיָצָאוּya/TSA/uwent outלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowאָנָהA/nawhereהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menרִדְפוּrid/FUpursueמַהֵרma/HERquicklyאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themכִּיkiforתַשִּׂיגוּם׃tas/si/GUMyou will overtake them

   And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

   וְהִיאve/HIand sheהֶעֱלָתַםhe/e/LA/tamhad brought them upהַגָּגָהhag/GA/gato the roofוַתִּטְמְנֵםvat/tit/me/NEMand hid themבְּפִשְׁתֵּיbe/fish/TEwith the flax ofהָעֵץha/ETSthe stalkהָעֲרֻכוֹתha/a/ru/KHOTlaid in orderלָהּlaby herעַל־הַגָּג׃al-hag/GAGon the roof

   But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

   וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menרָדְפוּra/de/FUpursuedאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way toהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanעַלaltoהַמַּעְבְּרוֹתham/ma/be/ROTthe fordsוְהַשַּׁעַרve/hash/SHA/arand the gateסָגָרוּsa/GA/ruthey shutאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָצְאוּya/tse/Uhad gone outהָרֹדְפִיםha/rod/FIMthe pursuersאַחֲרֵיהֶם׃a/cha/re/HEMafter them

   And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

   וְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyטֶרֶםTE/rembeforeיִשְׁכָּבוּןyish/ka/VUNthey lay downוְהִיאve/HIand sheעָלְתָהa/le/TAcame upעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themעַל־הַגָּג׃al-hag/GAGon the roof

   And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

   וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֶל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםel-ha/a/na/SHIMto the menיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANthat has givenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landוְכִי־נָפְלָהve/KHI-na/fe/LAand that has fallenאֵימַתְכֶםe/mat/KHEMthe terror of youעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usוְכִיve/KHIand thatנָמֹגוּna/MO/gumelt awayכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיkol-yosh/VEall the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמִפְּנֵיכֶם׃mip/pe/ne/KHEMbefore you

   And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

    כִּיkiforשָׁמַעְנוּsha/MA/nuwe heardאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־הוֹבִישׁet-a/SHER-ho/VISHhow dried upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֵיet-methe waters ofיַם־סוּףyam-Sufthe Red Seaמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMbefore youבְּצֵאתְכֶםbe/tse/te/KHEMwhen you came outמִמִּצְרָיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimfrom Egyptוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatעֲשִׂיתֶםa/si/TEMyou didלִשְׁנֵיlish/NEto the twoמַלְכֵיmal/KHEkings ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIof the Amoritesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבְּעֵבֶרbe/E/verbeyondהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanלְסִיחֹןle/Si/CHONto Sihonוּלְעוֹגu/Le/OGand to Ogאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֶחֱרַמְתֶּםhe/che/ram/TEMyou utterly destroyedאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11. 11

    וַנִּשְׁמַעvan/nish/MAand when we heardוַיִּמַּסvay/yim/MASmeltedלְבָבֵנוּle/va/VE/nuour heartsוְלֹא־קָמָהve/LO-KA/maneither did remainעוֹדodany moreרוּחַRU/achspiritבְּאִישׁbe/ISHin any manמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMbecause of youכִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour GodהוּאhuHe isאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenמִמַּעַלmim/MA/alaboveוְעַל־הָאָרֶץve/AL-ha/A/retsand upon the earthמִתָּחַת׃mit/TA/chatbeneath

    And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12. 12

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִשָּׁבְעוּ־נָאhish/sha/ve/U-naswear pleaseלִיlito meבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiby the LORDכִּי־עָשִׂיתִיki-a/SI/tisince I have shownעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youחָסֶדCHA/sedkindnessוַעֲשִׂיתֶםva/a/si/TEMthat will showגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoעִם־בֵּיתim-betto the house ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessוּנְתַתֶּםu/ne/tat/TEMand giveלִיlito meאוֹתota signאֱמֶת׃e/METtrue

    Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:

13. 13

    וְהַחֲיִתֶםve/ha/cha/yi/TEMand that you will save aliveאֶת־אָבִיet-a/VImy fatherוְאֶת־אִמִּיve/ET-im/MIand my motherוְאֶת־אַחַיve/ET-a/CHAYand my brothersוְאֶת־[אַחְיוֹתַי]ve/ET-ach/yo/TAYand my sisters(אחותי)chavatayוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatלָהֶםla/HEMthey haveוְהִצַּלְתֶּםve/hits/tsal/TEMand deliverאֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵינוּet-naf/sho/TE/nuour livesמִמָּוֶת׃mim/MA/vetfrom death

    And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלָהּlato herהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menנַפְשֵׁנוּnaf/SHE/nuour lifeתַחְתֵּיכֶםtach/te/KHEMfor yoursלָמוּתla/MUTto dieאִםimifלֹאlonotתַגִּידוּtag/GI/duyou tellאֶת־דְּבָרֵנוּet-de/va/RE/nuour businessזֶהzethisוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beבְּתֵת־יְהֹוָהbe/TET-Adonaiwhen the LORD givesלָנוּLA/nuto usאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landוְעָשִׂינוּve/a/SI/nuthat we will dealעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessוֶאֱמֶת׃ve/e/METand truth

    And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

15. 15

    וַתּוֹרִדֵםvat/to/ri/DEMthen she let them downבַּחֶבֶלba/CHE/velby a ropeבְּעַדbe/ADthroughהַחַלּוֹןha/chal/LONthe windowכִּיkiforבֵיתָהּve/TAher houseבְּקִירbe/KIRin the side ofהַחוֹמָהha/cho/MAthe wallוּבַחוֹמָהu/va/cho/MAand on the wallהִיאhisheיוֹשָׁבֶת׃yo/SHA/vetdwelt

    Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

16. 16

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themהָהָרָהha/HA/rato the hill countryלֵּכוּLE/khugoפֶּן־יִפְגְּעוּpen-yif/ge/Ulest meetבָכֶםva/KHEMyouהָרֹדְפִיםha/rod/FIMthe pursuersוְנַחְבֵּתֶםve/nach/be/TEMand hide yourselvesשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeיָמִיםya/MIMdaysעַדaduntilשׁוֹבshovhave returnedהָרֹדְפִיםha/rod/FIMthe pursuersוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardתֵּלְכוּtel/KHUyou may goלְדַרְכְּכֶם׃le/dar/ke/KHEMyour way

    And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menנְקִיִּםne/kiy/YIMguiltlessאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweמִשְּׁבֻעָתֵךְmish/she/vu/a/TEKHof your oathהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהִשְׁבַּעְתָּנוּ׃hish/ba/TA/nuyou have made us swear

    And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

18. 18

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweבָאִיםva/IMcomeבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsinto the landאֶת־תִּקְוַתet-tik/VATthe line ofחוּטchutthe thread ofהַשָּׁנִיhash/sha/NIscarletהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתִּקְשְׁרִיtik/she/RIyou shall bindבַּחַלּוֹןba/chal/LONin the windowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוֹרַדְתֵּנוּho/rad/TE/nuyou let us downבוֹvobyוְאֶת־אָבִיךְve/ET-a/VIKHand your fatherוְאֶת־אִמֵּךְve/ET-im/MEKHand your motherוְאֶת־אַחַיִךְve/ET-a/CHA/yikhand your brothersוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־בֵּיתkol-betall the house ofאָבִיךְa/VIKHyour fatherתַּאַסְפִיta/as/FIyou shall gatherאֵלַיִךְe/LA/yikhto yourselfהַבָּיְתָה׃hab/BAY/tainto the house

    Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

19. 19

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכֹּלkolwhoeverאֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵאa/SHER-ye/TSEgoes outמִדַּלְתֵיmid/dal/TEfrom the doors ofבֵיתֵךְve/TEKHyour houseהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideדָּמוֹda/MOhis bloodבְרֹאשׁוֹve/ro/SHOon his headוַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nuand we will beנְקִיִּםne/kiy/YIMguiltlessוְכֹלve/KHOLand whoeverאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִהְיֶהyih/YEisאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youבַּבַּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseדָּמוֹda/MOhis bloodבְרֹאשֵׁנוּve/ro/SHE/nuon our headאִם־יָדim-yadif any handתִּהְיֶה־בּוֹ׃tih/YE-bois on him

    And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20. 20

    וְאִם־תַּגִּידִיve/IM-tag/GI/diand if you tellאֶת־דְּבָרֵנוּet-de/va/RE/nuour businessזֶהzethisוְהָיִינוּve/ha/YI/nuthen we will beנְקִיִּםne/kiy/YIMfreeמִשְּׁבֻעָתֵךְmish/she/vu/a/TEKHof your oathאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהִשְׁבַּעְתָּנוּ׃hish/ba/TA/nuyou made us swear

    And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

21. 21

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidכְּדִבְרֵיכֶםke/div/re/KHEMaccording to your wordsכֶּן־הוּאken-huso be itוַתְּשַׁלְּחֵםvat/te/shal/le/CHEMand she sent them awayוַיֵּלֵכוּvay/ye/LE/khuand they wentוַתִּקְשֹׁרvat/tik/SHORand she boundאֶת־תִּקְוַתet-tik/VATthe line ofהַשָּׁנִיhash/sha/NIscarletבַּחַלּוֹן׃ba/chal/LONin the window

    And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

22. 22

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameהָהָרָהha/HA/rato the hill countryוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand stayedשָׁםshamthereשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeיָמִיםya/MIMdaysעַד־שָׁבוּad-SHA/vuuntil had returnedהָרֹדְפִיםha/rod/FIMthe pursuersוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand sought themהָרֹדְפִיםha/rod/FIMthe pursuersבְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְbe/KHOL-had/DE/rekhall along the wayוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאוּ׃ma/TSA/uthey found them

    And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

    וַיָּשֻׁבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuso returnedשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menוַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUand descendedמֵהָהָרme/ha/HARfrom the hill countryוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand crossed overוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunthe son of Nunוַיְסַפְּרוּ־לוֹvay/SAP/pe/ru-loand told himאֵת־כׇּל־הַמֹּצְאוֹתet-kol-ham/mots/OTall that had befallenאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANthat has givenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּיָדֵנוּbe/ya/DE/nuinto our handsאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the landוְגַם־נָמֹגוּve/GAM-na/MO/guand also melt awayכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיkol-yosh/VEall the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמִפָּנֵינוּ׃mip/pa/NE/nubefore us

    And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.
