Job 37 אִיּוֹב פרק ל״ז

1. 1

   אַף־לְזֹאתat this alsoיֶחֱרַדit tremblesלִבִּיmy heartוְיִתַּרand is movedמִמְּקוֹמוֹ׃from its place

   At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.

2. 2

   שִׁמְעוּhearשָׁמוֹעַattentivelyבְּרֹגֶזthe noise ofקֹלוֹHis voiceוְהֶגֶהand the soundמִפִּיוfrom His mouthיֵצֵא׃that goes out

   Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

   תַּחַת־כׇּל־הַשָּׁמַיִםunder all the heavensיִשְׁרֵהוּHe sends it forthוְאוֹרוֹand His lightningעַל־כַּנְפוֹתunto the ends ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

   He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.

   אַחֲרָיוafter itיִשְׁאַג־קוֹלa voice roarsיַרְעֵםHe thundersבְּקוֹלthe voice ofגְּאוֹנוֹHis majestyוְלֹאand notיְעַקְּבֵםHe stays them notכִּי־יִשָּׁמַעwhen it will be heardקוֹלוֹ׃His voice

   After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

   יַרְעֵםthundersאֵלGodבְּקוֹלוֹwith His voiceנִפְלָאוֹתwondersעֹשֶׂהdoes Heגְדֹלוֹתgreat thingsוְלֹאand notנֵדָע׃we comprehend

   God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

6. 6

   כִּיforלַשֶּׁלֶגto the snowיֹאמַרHe saysהֱוֵא־אָרֶץfall you on the earthוְגֶשֶׁםand the shower ofמָטָרrainוְגֶשֶׁםand the showers ofמִטְרוֹתthe rains ofעֻזּוֹ׃His strength

   For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

   בְּיַד־כׇּל־אָדָםin the hand of all manיַחְתּוֹםHe seals upלָדַעַתto knowכׇּל־אַנְשֵׁיall men whomמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃He has made

   He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

8. 8

   וַתָּבוֹאthen goחַיָּהthe beastsבְמוֹ־אָרֶבinto covertsוּבִמְעוֹנֹתֶיהָand in their densתִשְׁכֹּן׃they remain

   Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.

9. 9

   מִן־הַחֶדֶרout of the Chamberתָּבוֹאcome shallסוּפָהthe stormוּמִמְּזָרִיםand out of the northקָרָה׃cold

   Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.

10. 10

    מִנִּשְׁמַת־אֵלfrom the breathing of Godיִתֶּן־קָרַחice is givenוְרֹחַבand the breadth ofמַיִםwaterבְּמוּצָק׃is straitened

    By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.

11. 11

    אַף־בְּרִיyea with moistureיַטְרִיחַHe ladesעָבthe thick cloudיָפִיץHe spreads abroadעֲנַןthe cloud ofאוֹרוֹ׃His lightning

    Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:

12. 12

    וְהוּאand heמְסִבּוֹתround aboutמִתְהַפֵּךְis turnedבְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָוby His guidanceלְפׇעֳלָםthat they may doכֹּלallאֲשֶׁרwhichיְצַוֵּםHe commands themעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofתֵבֵלthe worldאָרְצָה׃to the earth

    And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.

13. 13

    אִם־לְשֵׁבֶטwhether for correctionאִם־לְאַרְצוֹor for His earthאִם־לְחֶסֶדor for mercyיַמְצִאֵהוּ׃that He cause it to come

    He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.

14. 14

    הַאֲזִינָהgive earזֹּאתthisאִיּוֹבJobעֲמֹדstand stillוְהִתְבּוֹנֵןand consider diligentlyנִפְלְאוֹתwonders ofאֵל׃God

    Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

15. 15

    הֲתֵדַעdo you knowבְּשׂוּם־אֱלוֹהַּhow God enjoinsעֲלֵיהֶםupon themוְהֹפִיעַand causes to shineאוֹרthe lightning ofעֲנָנוֹ׃His cloud

    Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

16. 16

    הֲתֵדַעdo you knowעַל־מִפְלְשֵׂי־עָבthe balancings of the cloudsמִפְלְאוֹתthe wondrous works ofתְּמִיםperfect inדֵּעִים׃knowledge

    Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

17. 17

    אֲשֶׁר־בְּגָדֶיךָyou whose garmentsחַמִּיםare warmבְּהַשְׁקִטwhen is stillאֶרֶץthe land ofמִדָּרוֹם׃by reason of the south wind

    How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?

18. 18

    תַּרְקִיעַcan you spread outעִמּוֹwith Himלִשְׁחָקִיםthe skyחֲזָקִיםwhich is strongכִּרְאִיas a mirrorמוּצָק׃molten

    Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

19. 19

    הוֹדִיעֵנוּmake known to usמַה־נֹּאמַרwhat will we sayלוֹunto Himלֹא־נַעֲרֹךְwe cannot order our speechמִפְּנֵי־חֹשֶׁךְ׃because of darkness

    Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.

20. 20

    הַיְסֻפַּר־לוֹshall it be told HimכִּיthatאֲדַבֵּרI speakאִם־אָמַרor should wishאִישׁa manכִּיifיְבֻלָּע׃he were swallowed up

    Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהand nowלֹא־רָאוּnot sawאוֹרlightבָּהִירwhich is brightהוּאitבַּשְּׁחָקִיםin the skiesוְרוּחַbut the windעָבְרָהpassesוַתְּטַהֲרֵם׃and cleanses them

    And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

22. 22

    מִצָּפוֹןfrom the northזָהָבgolden splendorיֶאֱתֶהcomesעַל־אֱלוֹהַּabout Godנוֹרָאterribleהוֹד׃majesty

    Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.

23. 23

    שַׁדַּיAlmightyלֹא־מְצָאנֻהוּwhom we cannot find outשַׂגִּיא־כֹחַis excellent in powerוּמִשְׁפָּטand judgmentוְרֹב־צְדָקָהand plenteous justiceלֹאnotיְעַנֶּה׃He does not violate

    Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

    לָכֵןthereforeיְרֵאוּהוּthey fear Himאֲנָשִׁיםmenלֹא־יִרְאֶהHe regards notכׇּל־חַכְמֵי־לֵב׃any that are wise of heart

    Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
